Research on the Effect of Successful Business People on the Society

It is known that successful business people play a crucial role in wealth creation and expenditure. This paper mainly discussed whether successful business people benefit others when making their money, when spending it, both, or neither? This paper seeks to shed light on these questions, exploring the complex relationship between wealth accumulation and societal benefits. This paper examines the extent to which wealthy individuals benefit others during the process of wealth creation and expenditure, considering both top-down and bottom-up economic perspectives. By utilizing the true situation using Top-Down and Bottom-Up perspective, this paper draws the conclusion that: On the one hand, when the successful business people have social responsibility, they use the method of making money to provide people with employment and re-employment, they have great love and universal love, and they shoulder the responsibility of the savior. On the other hand, when successful businessmen have more and more money, it will lead to the wealth of the society in the hands of a few people, affecting the reasonable development of politics and economy.

A Multi-Method Data Science Pipeline for Analyzing Police Service

Despite the fact that most police departments in the U.S. serve jurisdictions with fewer than 10,000 residents, policing practices in small towns are understudied. This is due in part to data limitations and technological barriers that exist in the small-town context. In this article we focus on one small town police department in New England with a history of misconduct, and develop a comprehensive data science pipeline that addresses the stages from design and collection to reporting. We present the reader with specific tools in the open-source Python ecosystem for replicating this pipeline. Once these data are processed, we perform two statistical analyses in an attempt to better understand the provisions of service by the small-town police department of focus. First, we perform ecological inference to estimate the rate at which residents are placing calls for service. Second, we model wait times using a negative binomal regression model to account for overdispersion in the data. We discuss data and model limitations arising through the pipeline creation and analysis process.

Energy-Momentum Squared Gravity: A Brief Overview

In this work, we present a review of Energy-Momentum Squared Gravity (EMSG)—more specifically, f(R,TμνTμν) gravity, where R represents the Ricci scalar and Tμν denotes the energy-momentum tensor. The inclusion of quadratic contributions from the energy-momentum components has intriguing cosmological implications, particularly during the Universe’s early epochs. These effects dominate under high-energy conditions, enabling EMSG to potentially address unresolved issues in General Relativity (GR), such as the initial singularity and aspects of big-bang nucleosynthesis in certain models. The theory’s explicit non-minimal coupling between matter and geometry leads to the non-conservation of the energy-momentum tensor, which prompts the investigation of cosmological scenarios through the framework of irreversible thermodynamics of open systems. By employing this formalism, we interpret the energy-balance equations within EMSG from a thermodynamic perspective, viewing them as descriptions of irreversible matter creation processes. Since EMSG converges to GR in a vacuum and differences emerge only in the presence of an energy-momentum distribution, these distinctions become significant in high-curvature regions. Therefore, deviations from GR are expected to be pronounced in the dense cores of compact objects. This review delves into these facets of EMSG, highlighting its potential to shed light on some of the fundamental questions in modern cosmology and gravitational theory.

‘Day-dreaming’ school climate: a slow critical feminist post-humanist c/art/ographic listening to how school feels

ABSTRACT This paper becomes a mapping of a PhEmaterialist research project, an apparatus entangled with re/making the world that applauds difference in education. Feeling-thinking-making with critical posthumanist work, we affirm that school climate matters and encourage educators’ attention to the fluxing materiality of school climate created through everyday schooling events. Daydreaming aptly accounted for our slow PhEmaterialist-inspired theoretical work, a transgressing and transversing of conventional conceptions of ‘school climate’, ‘methodology’ and ‘pedagogy’. Our school climate project emerges as an experimental mapping of eventful research, a slow research creation process where we attuned to emergent affirming pedagogical relationalities. Students worked alongside researchers over six weeks at an Australian community school, enacting research creation in the making of school climate. Da(r)ta created include voice recordings, reflective notes, written responses, photographs, narratives, soundscapes, zines, posters, drawings and maps.

Strategy to Increase Market Share Current Account Saving Account (CASA) Through Optimizing the Development of Electronic Banking in Indonesia

The basis of this research is motivated by the phenomenon that occurs where banking services in Indonesia have still known for a very long time and require a struggle to make a transaction. A network that is often problematic, strict regulations and the length of the account creation process are some examples of problems related to banking services in Indonesia. This study aims to find out how the development of electronic banking at Bank BJB, the Market Share Current Account Savings Account at Bank BJB, what obstacles are faced in the development of electronic banking at Bank BJB, and what strategies are carried out to increase CASA market share through the optimization of electronic banking development. The research method used is qualitative by interviewing resource persons from within the company, policymakers, and practitioners in the banking sector. The results obtained show that Bank BJB has carried out digital service transformation specifically in 2021. The company has made several developments in terms of core banking, switching, and networking. CASA's market share has not reached the expected target. Several strategies to increase Bank BJB's CASA market share through electronic banking optimization include the development of a user-friendly Mobile application. Focus on developing an intuitive and easy-to-use mobile app.

Value Management: Enterprises’ Interest in Stakeholders and Its Impact on Creating Sustainable Relationships with Suppliers and Buyers

The paper aims to identify the connection between the enterprise’s interest in the stakeholders and their mutual relationship. It examines whether stakeholders’ opinions, priorities, needs, and goals influence the enterprise’s decisions in managing sustainable relationships with buyers and suppliers. Additionally, it explores whether the knowledge regarding the stakeholders (such as their needs, opinions, etc.) affects the relationship between the enterprise and the stakeholders. Establishing a good, mutual, long-lasting, and sustainable relationship with stakeholders is an integral part of the value creation process and value management. The study first determines whether enterprises implement value management and then assesses the impact of buyers’ and suppliers’ opinions, priorities, and goals on the decision-making process in building these relationships. It also evaluates the strength of these relationships, where a stronger relationship indicates greater sustainability. The focus is on relationships with suppliers and buyers, with responses collected from 385 Slovak manufacturing enterprises. The analysis of how knowledge of stakeholders’ needs, priorities, and goals impacts relationships with suppliers and buyers was conducted separately using the Shapiro–Wilk test, Spearman’s correlation coefficient, and ANOVA.

Development of forming limit diagrams for motorcycle fuel tank made from AA5754-O under deep drawing

The research studied forming limit curves (FLC) for aluminum alloy 5754-O (AA5754-O) and modified them using two methods. These methods aimed to create FLCs for application in describing the forming behavior of sheet metal material through a deep drawing process simulation in the PAM-STAMP program. The methods are as follows: The Nakajima test combined with a new method, a novel process for grid creation on the specimen: laser marking combined with elastic paints. A mathematical material model using the fracture model along with the yield criteria: YLD2000-2D and hardening law: Swift-Voce. The Keeler-Brazier modified equation was chosen as the fracture model for this research because it is an effective equation for creating FLCs for steel materials and has not yet been applied to aluminum materials. Furthermore, no one has previously used the Keeler-Brazier modified equation in conjunction with YLD2000-2D and the yield criterion Swift-Voce hardening law. In summary, the FLC generated from YLD2000-2D, Swift-Voce hardening law, and Keeler-Brazier modified equations can predict the location of damage occurrence on the motorcycle fuel tank, which occurs due to the deep drawing process, using finite element simulation accurately. This closely resembles the actual forming process in the industry.

Value creation across organizational borders: towards a value gap theory

Purpose This study aims to explore and theorize value gaps within value chain management (VCM) by extending the service quality gap model to the context of global manufacturing value chains. Design/methodology/approach Drawing upon a case study of a small, family-owned Swedish furniture wholesaler, Alpha, this research adapts the service quality gap model and integrates it into the VCM framework. The investigation examines the value creation and delivery processes across a network of actors, highlighting how various gaps emerge at different stages of the value chain. Findings The study identifies and describes several value gaps, including those related to consumer understanding, manufacturing capabilities and coordination across the value chain. Value creation gaps arise from poor communication about consumer needs and product features, whereas value delivery gaps are mainly tied to manufacturing capacity and material restrictions. These gaps can result in misalignment between consumer expectations and the delivered value. Research limitations/implications Although this study provides insights into the emergence of value gaps, further research is needed to determine the magnitude and reduction strategies for these gaps. In addition, understanding how consumers evaluate new products remains a critical area for investigation. Practical implications The research highlights the significance of a coordinated approach to managing value creation and delivery processes. It underscores the need for companies to capture accurate consumer data, consider manufacturing capabilities and engage in effective coordination with various actors in the value chain. Social implications By addressing value gaps, companies can enhance consumer satisfaction and minimize potential dissatisfaction caused by misalignment between consumer expectations and delivered value. This, in turn, can lead to improved relationships with consumers and other actors within the value chain. Originality/value This research offers a novel perspective on value gaps in VCM, extending the service quality gap model to the realm of manufacturing. It underscores the importance of managing both value creation and delivery processes for enhancing competitive advantage in a global market.

Building peace narratives between young conflict victims and university students: an analysis of participatory animation strategies in My story: The children who fought war in Colombia

ABSTRACT This article presents an analysis of the production of the animated documentary series My Story. The Children Who Fought War in Colombia. The series was developed through a participatory creation process between young victims of the armed conflict and student animators from the Visual Arts programme at Universidad Javeriana, Colombia. The objective was to construct narratives that promote peace and generate new imaginaries. Interviews with the series director, Mathew Charles, and an animator, along with a review of the creative process, revealed the distinctive elements of this production. The study concentrated on the manner in which participatory animation encourages the formulation of innovative paradigms that challenge the conventional representations of the conflict. The objective was to cultivate empathy and mutual understanding among the participants. The findings emphasise the importance of participatory animation in the reconstruction of peace narratives, offering innovative perspectives in post-conflict contexts. This research demonstrates the significance of artistic intervention, particularly through participatory animation, as a valuable tool for constructing narratives that encourage critical reflection and promote a deeper, empathetic understanding of the experiences of those who have endured war.

Comprehensive Analysis of Derivational and Inflectional Morphemes for English Language Acquisition

Morphology plays a crucial role in students' language acquisition. This study delves into the distinctions between inflectional and derivational morphemes, aiming to enhance comprehension of these concepts. By investigating word creation processes and observed alterations, the study illustrates the profound impact of prefixes and suffixes on words, shedding light on their significance in language learning. Students frequently require clarification when distinguishing between inflectional and derivational morphemes during learning. To enhance comprehension of this subject, this present study initially investigated the definitions and subcategories of these two terms outlined in various literary sources. Next, it provided a concise overview of the critical distinctions between inflectional and derivational morphemes. These analyses aim to determine the word created by derivational morphemes, the word formed by inflectional morphemes, the process by which the specified word is formed, and the types of observed alterations. The author implements the descriptive qualitative approach. It will discover that each morpheme possesses its function and influences the base word's meaning, word class, or grammatical function. This study illustrates the impact of prefixes and suffixes on words.

Preparing for a Day that May Never Come: Venturing in Limbo

AbstractThe new venture creation process is a central phenomenon in entrepreneurship research. Typically, scholarship has sought to identify common, linear stages of development in this process in pursuit of a sustained, growing venture. In contrast to this theory, this study reveals dynamic, non‐linear venturing processes that allowed for venture persistence despite failing to ‘progress’ toward traditional outcomes. We generate these insights from qualitative data on Syrian refugee entrepreneurs seeking to create and sustain ventures in Lebanon while living in a state of limbo – a precarious situation where the future is unknown and unknowable. We organize our findings in a model of venturing in limbo, which explains why and how entrepreneurs persist in venture creation practices despite experiencing repeated and significant setbacks that return them ‘to square one’. We reveal dynamic venture creation processes that allow for adaptive responses to erratic environmental shifts by producing entrepreneurial readiness, which consists of behavioural, cognitive, and psychological/emotional capabilities. Entrepreneurial readiness enables persistence of venturing efforts in the face of chronic precarity. Our study contributes to theory on new venture creation in entrepreneurship and organizational liminality.

Indoor thermal environment simulation of jade carving design process based on light sensing texture image processing

As a traditional art form, jade carving has gradually combined with modern technology in recent years, introducing new technologies in the design and production process. Indoor thermal environment has an important influence on the creation process of jade carving, especially the influence of temperature and humidity on the physical characteristics of jade carving materials and its processing. In this study, the influence of indoor thermal environment on jade carving design process was simulated by light sensing texture image processing technology, so as to optimize the design scheme and ensure the quality and artistic expression of jade carving works. The temperature, humidity and illumination data of indoor environment are obtained by light sensing technology, and the thermal environment required in jade carving design is simulated by texture image processing method. The thermal environment model was constructed to analyze the performance of jade carving materials under different conditions and evaluate the possible changes in the processing process. The simulation results show that the temperature and humidity of indoor thermal environment have significant effects on the toughness, hardness and detail performance of jade carving materials. At temperatures above 25° C and relatively low humidity, jade carving materials show better cutting results and surface finish. Texture image processing technology can effectively capture and analyze the subtle changes of materials, which provides a reliable basis for design decisions.

Generative AI tools as educators’ assistants: Designing and implementing inquiry-based lesson plans

This study investigates the integration of Generative AI (GenAI) tools into educational practices, specifically focusing on the design of Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) lesson plans. Based on a particular IBL framework that synthesizes the core attributes of IBL by combining the strengths of various models, the study explores educators' potential utilization of GenAI tools across the framework's phases. Among other capabilities, GenAI tools were examined for their support in content creation, assessment and feedback processes, as well as in the design of learning activities and lesson plans. This examination informed the classification of GenAI tools in this study, organizing them according to their potential utility for educators. These groups and subgroups of tools were then aligned with each phase of the IBL framework, demonstrating their role in achieving the objectives of each phase. Several practical examples across different grade levels and disciplines were also provided to highlight their prospective use. The systematic classification of GenAI tools introduced in this study fills a notable gap in the literature, thus making a valuable contribution to the field of GenAI in education. Additionally, by demonstrating how this classification can be applied as educators craft and deliver IBL lesson plans, the study further contributes by providing guidance on the effective use of these tools in real-world educational contexts.

How do stakeholders co-create value in a service ecosystem? Insight from mega-events

PurposeThis paper looks at how stakeholders co-create value at mega-events from a service ecosystem perspective. Despite the growing interest, little is known about how value is co-created through such initiatives for individual stakeholders and the community.Design/methodology/approachDrawing on institutional and stakeholder theory, the study focuses on Cortina 2021, the World Ski Championships held in Italy in February 2021. It investigates how multiple actors co-create value within a service ecosystem through qualitative interviews with key stakeholders combined with the analysis of official documents and reports.FindingsThe research established that key stakeholders were willing to get involved with Cortina 2021 if they recognised the value which could be co-created. Such an ecosystem requires a focal organisation with a clear regulative and normative framework and a common cultural basis. The latter helped resilience in the extraordinary circumstances of Cortina 2021 and safeguarded long-term impacts, even though the expected short-term ones were compromised.Practical implicationsFrom a managerial point of view, the evidence from Cortina 2021 shows how a clear strategy with well-defined stakeholder engagement mechanisms can facilitate value co-creation in service ecosystems. Moreover, when regulative and normative elements are blurred because of an extraordinary circumstance, resource integration and value creation processes need to be entrusted to those cultural elements that characterise an ecosystem.Originality/valueThe study takes an ecosystemic approach to mega-events to explore value creation for the whole community at the macro level, not only at the individual or organisational level, even during a crisis, which greatly impaired the preparation and running of the event.

Linking supply chains to ecosystems in the era of supply chain management 4.0

Industry 4.0 is revolutionizing supply chain management, prompting a significant shift toward Supply Chain Management 4.0 (SCM 4.0). This transformation facilitates traditional supply chains evolving into platform-based ecosystems, thereby fundamentally redefining the processes of value creation, delivery, and capture. This study recognizes the divergence in empirical research between supply chains and ecosystems and aims to integrate these research streams by focusing on technological platforms. The study offers a comprehensive theoretical framework designed to dissect the evolutionary trajectories of supply chains into ecosystems in the SCM 4.0 context. By doing so, this research unveils the profound strategic implications of digital transformation, paving the way for groundbreaking research in SCM 4.0.

Gender and business creation: similarities and differences

PurposeThis paper explores the scope and impact of gender in the process of starting new businesses, with a particular focus on understanding how participation, motivations and outcomes differ between men and women entrepreneurs.Design/methodology/approachThis paper utilizes data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) and the Panel Studies of Entrepreneurial Dynamics (PSED). The GEM data provide a global overview, drawing from representative national samples across over 100 countries to assess the extent of business creation activity and gender participation globally. The longitudinal PSED data set provides information on the business creation process and outcomes.FindingsOver the last 20 years, the presence of women in the early stages of starting a business in the United States of America has seen a notable increase, doubling their representation among entrepreneurs and nearing parity with men, who also saw growth but at a slower rate. This shift marks a significant move towards greater gender balance in the entrepreneurial landscape.Originality/valueThe originality of this paper lies in its comprehensive analysis of the evolving landscape of gender dynamics within entrepreneurship over two decades, particularly highlighting the significant increase in women's participation in business creation.

MOLECULAR ANALYSIS OF THE MCR-1 GENE IN PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA AND ACINETOBACTER BAUMANII STRAINS

Objective: The emergence of antibiotic resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumanii isolates poses serious risks to public health. Our study aimed to investigate the presence of colistin resistance and mcr-1 gene positivity in these isolates. Material and Method: Culture, biochemical tests, antibiotic susceptibility tests, and molecular tests were used to isolate and identify P. aeruginosa and A. baumanii strains. Result and Discussion: A sum of 156 clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (n = 89) and Acinetobacter baumannii (n = 67) were obtained using the 550 clinical samples collected in one year from the largest hospital in Van, Turkey. The results of antibiotic susceptibility tests showed that approximately 82.8% of P. aeruginosa and 94.6% of A. baumannii strains were multidrug-resistant (MDR). Colistin resistance was detected in 11.23% (10/89) of P. aeruginosa isolates and 11.94% (8/67) of A. baumannii isolates using agar dilution and microdilution methods. Out of the 18 colistin-resistant isolates, the mcr-1 gene was detected in three P. aeruginosa and two A. baumannii strains. The detection of plasmid-mediated colistin resistance in P. aeruginosa and A. baumannii is of great concern due to the high potential for colistin resistance to spread in clinical settings. Understanding the unique circumstances of worldwide colistin resistance can be facilitated by promoting the creation of quick processes for identifying colistin resistance profiles and putting them into practice in hospital laboratories. Colistin and carbapenem treatment are two effective ways to treat emerging resistant super-microbes and slow down the emergence of resistance.

Modified Gravity in the Presence of Matter Creation: Scenario for the Late Universe.

We consider a dynamic scenario for characterizing the late Universe evolution, aiming to mitigate the Hubble tension. Specifically, we consider a metric f(R) gravity in the Jordan frame which is implemented to the dynamics of a flat isotropic Universe. This cosmological model incorporates a matter creation process, due to the time variation of the cosmological gravitational field. We model particle creation by representing the isotropic Universe (specifically, a given fiducial volume) as an open thermodynamic system. The resulting dynamical model involves four unknowns: the Hubble parameter, the non-minimally coupled scalar field, its potential, and the energy density of the matter component. We impose suitable conditions to derive a closed system for these functions of the redshift. In this model, the vacuum energy density of the present Universe is determined by the scalar field potential, in line with the modified gravity scenario. Hence, we construct a viable model, determining the form of the f(R) theory a posteriori and appropriately constraining the phenomenological parameters of the matter creation process to eliminate tachyon modes. Finally, by analyzing the allowed parameter space, we demonstrate that the Planck evolution of the Hubble parameter can be reconciled with the late Universe dynamics, thus alleviating the Hubble tension.

Scripted synergy: elevating EFL writing and creativity through collaborative digital storytelling

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study aimed to investigate the impact of incorporating a scripted collaborative learning strategy into digital storytelling (DST) on the vocabulary acquisition, creativity and writing skills of EFL college students. While DST has been previously utilised in English language education, it faces several challenges. To address these challenges, this study introduced a scripted collaborative strategy designed to enhance the digital storytelling creation process. An experimental comparison between scripted and non-scripted collaborative digital storytelling projects was conducted to assess their effects on students’ creativity and writing skills. The findings revealed that the scripted collaborative DST approach markedly improved students’ vocabulary acquisition, graphic creativity and writing skills compared to the non-scripted collaborative DST group. This research underscores the potential benefits of digital storytelling in advancing English language learning, offering valuable insights into its effective implementation.
