The Effect of Feeding Acidifier and Probiotics with Different Levels in The Diet Growth on Broiler Performance

This research which aims to determine the effect of probiotic and Acidifier supplementations in the fermentation diet on growth of broiler has done in Takengon, Central Aceh District from August until October 2020. This research used 160 chicks strain Cobb 89 produced by PT. Charoen Pokphand. This study used a complete randomized design consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment of probiotic and Acidifier supplementations were: 0% (A), 0.1% (B), 0.2%(C), 0.3%(D). Parameters observed were achievement of final weight, weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion, and feed efficiency. Data was analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued by Duncan Multiple Range Test if significant effect was detected. The result showed that the differences in supplementation of probiotic and Acidifiers effected significantly (P <0.05) on the final weight, weight gain, feed conversion and feed efficiency. However, there was no significant effect on rate of consumption. The result of present study showed that the combination of probiotic and Acidifier had a best impact on broiler growth and it was also decreased mortality of chicken.

The ability of probiotics to ameliorate blood and gonad damage caused by copper toxicity in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).

Background and Aim:Industrial waste, such as heavy metals, is a major source of water pollution; at high levels, such pollution can reduce river water quality to the extent that it becomes unsuitable for aquaculture of freshwater fish. This study aimed to focus on the effects of copper (Cu) exposure in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and specifically the ability of Lactobacillus-based probiotics supplementation in fish feed to ameliorate damage to gonads and negative effects on red blood cells (RBCs), whole blood cells (WBCs), hematocrit (HCT) levels, hemoglobin (HGB) levels, and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels following such exposure.Materials and Methods:Thirty-two Nile tilapia fish were divided into eight groups: A negative control (without probiotics or Cu), a positive control (with probiotics but without Cu), three treatments with probiotics in feed, and one of three Cu concentrations (0.75, 1.50, or 3.00 mg/L), and three treatments with these three Cu concentrations but without probiotics in feed. The probiotics concentration in feed was 25 mL/kg (1×108 CFU/mL). Feeding was for 15 days, after which the hematological parameters, gonadal (testis) structure, and MDA levels of fish were analyzed.Results:Exposure to Cu significantly (p<0.05) affected fish hematology (decreased HGB, HCT, RBC, and WBC levels) and altered the structure of the testes. However, the addition of probiotics to fish feed significantly (p<0.05) ameliorated these effects on hematology and maintained the histological structure of the gonads.Conclusion:Cu exposure at ≥1.5 mg/L affected the hematologic parameters, gonadosomatic index, MDA levels, and testicular cells and tissue of Nile tilapia. However, probiotics supplementation in fish feed helped ameliorate the negative effects of Cu on these parameters. Thus, the Lactobacillus-based probiotics used in this study were apparently able to neutralize Cu toxicity in Nile tilapia.

Enhancing performance of Murrah Buffalo through improved probiotic feed management in Kapau Village, Agam Regency

This study aims to improve the production performance of Murrah buffalo which covers average weight gain, feed consumption, and feed conversion by increasing probiotic feed. The research was conducted on the herd of Murrah buffalo at Kelok Rambai, Kapau Village, West Sumatera, Indonesia. Fifteen Murrah buffaloes with three to five years of age were used in the research. There were three treatments conducted including P1 = basal feed + probiotics; P2 = P1 + concentrate (cassava leaf pellet); and P3 = P1 + commercial concentrate (pellet). All three treatments were also given 7 cc/head/month of probiotics. The results of the study with probiotic feeding on Murrah buffalo showed the average feed consumption of P2 (36.55), P3 (35.99), P1 (35.74) and daily weight gain (DWG) P2 (1.09 kg/head/day), P3 (0.91 kg/head/day), P1 (0.55 kg/head/day) did not show a significant difference, while in feed conversion, P2 (0.68 ), P1 (0.46), P3 (0. 31) it showed a significant difference (p>0.05). This study concludes that the provision of basal ration plus cassava leaf pellets showed significant results on feed conversion in Murrah buffalo but did not show significant differences in feed consumption and DWG. However, it showed a substantial enough average of P2 that could be used as a feed supplement in Murrah buffalo.

Screening and Identification of Latilactobacillus curvatus Z12 From Rumen Fluid of an Adult Female Sika Deer as a Potential Probiotic for Feed Additives.

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are the main microorganisms used as probiotics against gastrointestinal inflammation. The objective of this study was to evaluate the potential probiotic characteristics (antimicrobial activity, artificial gastrointestinal model resistance, cell surface hydrophobicity, and autoaggregation ability) and safety characteristics (hemolytic activity, antimicrobial resistance, and in vivo safety) of LAB isolated from the rumen fluid of an adult female sika deer. Two isolated strains identified as Latilactobacillus curvatus Z12 and Z19 showed good antimicrobial activity against enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (ATCC25922), Salmonella typhi (ATCC14028), and Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC25923). In addition, L. curvatus Z12 exhibited higher artificial gastrointestinal model resistance, cell surface hydrophobicity and autoaggregation ability than L. curvatus Z19. Therefore, regarding safety characteristics, only L. curvatus Z12 was evaluated. Upon assessment of safety, L. curvatus Z12 was negative for hemolytic activity and susceptible to penicillin G and cefamandole. Furthermore, an in vivo safety assessment showed that high-dose L. curvatus Z12 (109 CFU/mL) supplementation not only had no adverse effects on body weight gain, feed intake, and organ coefficients of treated mice but also played a key role in promoting the immune system maturation of treated mice. This research revealed that L. curvatus Z12 possesses desirable probiotic characteristics and could be used as a potential probiotic feed additive to improve sika deer health.

Multi-Omics Characterization of Host-Derived Bacillus spp. Probiotics for Improved Growth Performance in Poultry

Microbial feed ingredients or probiotics have been used widely in the poultry industry to improve production efficiency. Spore-forming Bacillus spp. offer advantages over traditional probiotic strains as Bacillus spores are resilient to high temperature, acidic pH, and desiccation. This results in increased strain viability during manufacturing and feed-pelleting processes, extended product shelf-life, and increased stability within the animal’s gastrointestinal tract. Despite numerous reports on the use of Bacillus spores as feed additives, detailed characterizations of Bacillus probiotic strains are typically not published. Insufficient characterizations can lead to misidentification of probiotic strains in product labels, and the potential application of strains carrying virulence factors, toxins, antibiotic resistance, or toxic metabolites. Hence, it is critical to characterize in detail the genomic and phenotypic properties of these strains to screen out undesirable properties and to tie individual traits to clinical outcomes and possible mechanisms. Here, we report a screening workflow and comprehensive multi-omics characterization of Bacillus spp. for use in broiler chickens. Host-derived Bacillus strains were isolated and screened for desirable probiotic properties. The phenotypic, genomic and metabolomic analyses of three probiotic candidates, two Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (Ba ATCC PTA126784 and ATCC PTA126785), and a Bacillus subtilis (Bs ATCC PTA126786), showed that all three strains had promising probiotic traits and safety profiles. Inclusion of Ba ATCC PTA12684 (Ba-PTA84) in the feed of broiler chickens resulted in improved growth performance, as shown by a significantly improved feed conversion ratio (3.3%), increased of European Broiler Index (6.2%), and increased average daily gain (ADG) (3.5%). Comparison of the cecal microbiomes from Ba PTA84-treated and control animals suggested minimal differences in microbiome structure, indicating that the observed growth promotion presumably was not mediated by modulation of cecal microbiome.

Production and economics of probiotics treated Macrobrachium rosenbergii at different stocking densities

The effect of stocking density on growth, production, feed utilization and condition factor of probiotic treated Macrobrachium rosenbergii were analyzed in the present study. Juvenile prawn of weight 3.48 ± 1.4 g was stocked at the densities of 2, 3, 4 and 5 individuals/m2 respectively in T1, T2, T3 and T4. A supplementary diet containing 32% protein was used with the commercial feed probiotics Zymetin daily and soil probiotics Super PS weekly. After 180-days culture-period, significant differences in growth parameters were observed between different treatments (F3,645 = 228.81, P < 0.01). The highest and lowest final mean body weight (56.95 ± 6.7 g and 30.85 ± 11.43 g), weight gain (47.47 ± 6.74 g and 27.37 ± 11.43 g), specific growth rate (1.49 ± 0.07% BW/day and 1.18 ± 0.19% BW/day), and survival rate (88.43 ± 0.46% and 69.23 ± 0.32%) were found in T1 and T4, respectively. The treatments containing lower stocking densities showed better feed utilization indices; and except T4, higher stocking densities showed better gross production. The length-weight analysis showed positive allometry in T1, T2 and T3; whereas, it was isometric in T4. The condition factors varied between 0.80 and 1.16 indicating the healthy condition of the prawns in all groups. Water quality parameters were found within the acceptable limits in all treatments. Probiotic treated prawn cultured with the density of 3/m2 obtained highest gross return, and net returns to land, family labor and management, would be considered for the best practice of commercial prawn production.

Identification and Probiotic Potency Screening of Cellulolytic Bacilli Isolated from Fecal Pellets and Gastrointestinal Tract of Nypha Worm (Namalycastis rhodochorde), West Kalimantan, Indonesia

The bacterial isolates NrLtF1, NrLtF4, NrLtF5, and NrLtG2 isolated from fecal pellets and gastrointestinal tract of nypha worms (Namalycastis rhodochorde) have cellulolytic, proteolytic activity and produce organic acids. The four isolates have the potency to be developed as probiotics in nypha worm cultivation feed. This study aims to determine the probiotics potency and identify the species of NrLtF1, NrLtF4, NrLtF5, and NrLtG2 isolate based on 16srDNA sequence. The probiotic potency was carried out by the acid tolerance assays on distilled water and 0.3% acid bile media, and the antimicrobial testing against Escherichia coli (MF exp21.12). Bacterial identification was carried out by sequencing of 16sDNA sequence based on GeneBank data. The results showed that the bacterial isolates of NrLtF1, NrLtF4, NrLtF5, and NrLtG2 were able to grow on 0.3% distilled water and acid bile media. However, only the NrLtF4 and NrLtF5 inhibited E. coli (MF exp21.12) with halo zones 30 mm and 18 mm, respectively. Blasting results of the 16srDNA sequences showed that the NrLtF1, NrLtF4, NrLtF5, and NrLtG2 were closely related to Bacillus wiedmannii, Brevibacterium sediminis, Bacillus proteolyticus, and Bacillus paramycoides. The nypha worm bacterial isolates have the potency to be developed as probiotics in nypha worm culture.

THE PROLONGED INFLUENCE OF PROBIOTIC PROTECTION OF MUCOSY COWS BEFORE INSEMINATION ON THE EXPRESSION OF THE PRODUCTIVE POTENTIAL OF THEIR FIRSTBORN DAUGHTERS

The aim of our study was to determine the prolonged delayed action of probiotic feed protection of the intestinal mucosa of cows in the period before fertilization for the manifestation of the productive potential of their daughters during the first lactation.&#x0D; Analytical work was carried out during the 2016-2019 economic years, the experimental part of the study was carried out on the basis of a dairy complex-breeder of Ukrainian red dairy cattle (700 dairy heads), located in Odessa region.&#x0D; The results of a scientific and industrial study of a number of indicators of productivity of replacement heifers / heifers / heifers of the Ukrainian red dairy breed showed that the use of the feed probiotic preparation "Veterinary Multibacterin Bs + La suspension - feed mixture" together with the main diet of mothers before artificial insemination gave a positive prolonged effect on the manifestation of the productive potential of their half-siblings. For standard lactation, first-calf heifers in the experiment had a higher milk productivity by 6.99 % (respectively: 8121 and 7540 kg per head, P &lt;0.05). At the same time, the first-calf heifers of the experimental group had a more physiological term for the interstitial period, namely: 425.39 days, which was 56.28 days shorter than in the control and contributed to the profitability of production.&#x0D; It has been experimentally established that probiotic protection of the intestinal mucosa of mothers cows has a positive effect on the quality of the offspring, which forms the next generation of the breeding herd.

Effect of Enterococcus faecium as a Water and/or Feed Additive on the Gut Microbiota, Hematologic and Immunological Parameters, and Resistance Against Francisellosis and Streptococcosis in Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).

In the present study, we evaluated the effects of administering Enterococcus faecium in food and/or water on the hematological and immunological parameters, intestinal microbiota, resistance to bacterial diseases (streptococcosis and francisellosis) and growth of Nile tilapia. Before the in vivo experiment, probiotic bacteria isolated from Nile tilapia were selected via inhibition tests. Sequencing, annotation, and assembly of the complete genome of the selected bacteria as well as other tests were performed using bioinformatics tools. Three treatments were implemented: G1 (probiotic feeding), G2 (probiotic in water), and G3 (probiotic in food and water); and a negative control (NC) was also employed. Treatment lasted 38 days, and each group consisted of fish and two repetitions. The fish were divided and infected with Streptococcus agalactiae S13 (serotype Ib) and Francisella orientalis. The G1 group had a higher average final weight gain than the G2, G3, and NC groups. Further, a significant increase in the number of thrombocytes was observed in the groups administered probiotics in the diet (G1 and G3). A statistical difference was observed in the mortality of fish infected with S. agalactiae in the NC compared to the treated groups. Cetobacterium was the 43 most abundant genus in the intestinal microbiota of all groups, including the NC group. E. faecium increased the immunity of fish administered the treatment and decreased the mortality caused by S. agalactiae. As an autochtone probiotic, E. faecium does not interfere with the local ecosystem and thus has a great probiotic potential for Nile tilapia in Brazil.

DIGESTIBILITY OF NUTRIENTS AND BROILER CHICKEN PRODUCTIVITY UNDER THE ACTION OF PROBIOTIC ENTERO-ACTIVE

The probiotic “Entero-active”, due to the formation of lactic and acetic acids, creates an unfavourable pH environment for pathogenic microflora, stimulates the growth of intestinal normal flora, which has a positive effect on the composition of the microbiocenosis. In addition, probiotic microorganisms produce biologically active substances, enzymes and amino acids. The aim of the research was to investigate the digestion of feed nutrients by broiler chickens fed by the probiotic supplement Entero-active. Optimal doses of probiotic feeding are determined on the basis of obtained results. The influence of probiotic supplement on digestibility of feed nutrients, availability of amino acids and retention of mineral elements of mixed fodder is established. Tendencies of changes in productivity and safety of poultry under the effect of probiotic are revealed. The broiler chickens fed by additive Entero-active have increased the digestibility of dry matter by 2.4% (P &lt;0.01), protein by 3.4% (P &lt;0.001), fiber by 31.1% (P &lt;0.001) and NFE by 4.0% (P &lt;0.001) comparing with the control group. According to our research, the application of probiotic supplement Entero-active for the broilers’ feeding increases the availability of essential amino acids, i.e. lysine by 4.8%, histidine by 3.8%, arginine by 4.9%, threonine by 7.5%, valine by 4.1%, methionine by 2.6%, isoleucine by 7.6% compared with the control indicator. It was found the absorption of Ca, P, Mg, Mn, and increases respectively, by 23.5%, 6.9%, 12.2%, and by 33.1% under the action of probiotics. The Entero-active probiotic application in the diet of broiler chickens increases the pre-slaughter live weight by 16.7%, the weight of ungutted carcasses by 15.0% and gutted carcasses by 17.3%, feed costs per 1 kg increase by 12.9%, relative to control. Our studies have made it possible to identify certain patterns in the digestion of nutrients by poultry, depending on the different doses of probiotic Entero-active used in their diets.

Oral toxicity evaluation of probiotic strains isolated from Finger millet [Eleusine coracana (L.) Gaertn.] in Wistar rat models (in vivo)

This study evaluates the oral toxicity of five probiotic strains recently isolated from fermented flour of finger-millet (Eleusine coracana) varieties of Sri Lanka. Probiotic strains; Lactobacillus plantarum MF405176, Lactobacillus fermentum MF033346, Lactococcus lactis subspecies lactis MF480428, Enterococcus faecium MF480431and Pediococcus acidilactici MF480434 were evaluated for acute and sub-chronic oral toxicity in Wistars. Three individual doses (108 CFU/g, 1010 CFU/g and 1012 CFU/g) of each probiotic strain at single oral dose of 5000 mg/kg bw were orally administered to rats and observations were done till 14th day. Since no animals demonstrated signs of toxicity as a result of the administrated probiotics strains, repeated dose sub-chronic oral toxicity study was conducted by oral administration of three doses (108 CFU/g, 1010 CFU/g, 1012 CFU/g) of each probiotic strain at 1000 mg/kg bw/day for consecutive 90 days. Administration of probiotic strains to rats did not caused mortality in any of the tested doses. No changes in animal behavior, feed or water intake and negative effects on body weight observed. Probiotic feeding did not cause changes in analyzed biochemical and hematological parameters attributed to toxicity. Bacteremia, bacterial translocation and histopathological changes in rat organs were not observed. No significant difference in liver enzymes observed in treatment groups compared to control. In conclusion, all tested probiotic strains are nonpathogenic therefore could be considered as safe for human consumption.

Administration of Probiotic sanolife Mic-S on Biological Performance of Vanamei Shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) PL 10

Vannamei shrimp is a fishery commodity that has important economic value for Indonesia. This is indicated by the increasing number and value of exports of this commodity. One of the efforts to encourage the production of vaname shrimp is through the use of probiotics. sanolife-MIC is a probiotic widely used in shrimp culture. The aim of the study was to analyze the feed profile and biological performance of Vaname PL 10 shrimp fed pellets with the Sanolife MIC-S probiotic capsule at different doses. The research method used is an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments (A: probiotic 0 gr/kg feed; B: probiotic 10 gr/kg feed; C: probiotic 12 gr/kg feed; D: probiotic 14 g/kg feed) and three replicates. What was tested in the study were probiotic profile tests, growth, feed efficiency and feed conversion. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA. The results showed that the feed profile that was encapsulated using sanolife MIC-S, the protein value, moisture content and ash content for the feed were shown by treatment B. The best fat content was treatment C. The best crude fiber content was treatment D. Weight growth rate, ratio The best feed conversion and feed efficiency was shown by treatment B, while the length growth and survival was indicated by treatment C.

The influence of probiotics of different microbiological composition on histology of the gastrointestinal tract of juvenile Oncorhynchus mykiss.

This article presents results of the influence of three probiotic feed additive of various microbiological composition: Bacillus subtilis (VKPM B-2335); B. subtilis (OZ-2 VKPM-11966) + Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (OZ-3 VKPM-11967); Lactobacillus acidophilus (VKPM B-3235) on the growth and histology of the organs of the gastrointestinal tract of juvenile Oncorhynchus mykiss by morphometric parameters. These probiotic bacteria are the most commonly used in aquaculture. The effect of the probiotic feed additive led to the increase in fish growth and influenced different sections of the gastrointestinal tract. The biggest change was found in the mid intestine and the reliable difference compared with the control diet was obtained at the following parameters: lamina propria width, intraepithelial lymphocytes number of prismatic epithelium and goblet cells area. The changes in the pyloric appendages were less obvious but reported as playing an important functional role in digestion. The liver preserved normal functional structure in all series of the experiment except for the group with L. acidophilus, where hepatocyte small-drop vacuolization was observed. That might be connected with the change of the digest activity resulting from a decrease in secretory activity of the intestinal exocrinocytes. The use of all probiotic feed additives led to a similar change in morphometric parameters in all groups, which suggests a decrease in the immune response.

The effect of synbiotics and probiotics on the growth performance, gastrointestinal function and health status of turkeys

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the growth performance, gastrointestinal function and health status of turkeys fed diets supplemented with synbiotic preparations, as compared with commercial probiotic feed additives. The experiment lasted for 15 weeks. The research material comprised 600 female BIG 6 turkeys (6 treatments, 5 replicates, 20 birds per replicate). The turkeys from the control group (I) received a diet without additives. Groups II and III received a basal diet with the addition of probiotic BioPlus 2B or Cylactin at 0.4 g/kg diet, respectively. In groups IV, V and VI turkeys were fed diets with synbiotic preparations S1 (L. reuteri, L. plantarum, L. pentosus, S. cerevisiae + inulin), S2 (L. reuteri, L. plantarum, L. pentosus, S. cerevisiae, L. rhamnosus + inulin) and S3 (L. reuteri, L. plantarum, L. pentosus, S. cerevisiae, L. rhamnosus, L. paracasei + inulin) at 0.5 g/kg diet, respectively. The following parameters were monitored: growth performance, carcass quality, the chemical composition of meat, the structure (length, weight, villus height, crypt depth) and functional parameters (pH, viscosity) of selected segments of the gastrointestinal tract, and the health status of birds (lysozyme, gamma-globulins, ceruloplasmin and total protein). Dietary supplementation with probiotics and synbiotics contributed to an increase in the final body weights of turkeys, a decrease in the feed conversion ratio and an increase in values of the European Production Efficiency Factor (p ≤ 0.05). Synbiotics improved the immune status of birds by increasing serum gamma-globulin levels and decreasing ceruloplasmin activity at 8th week of age (p ≤ 0.05). Synbiotics and probiotics also contributed to a decrease in crop and caecal pH (p ≤ 0.05). The analysed additives had no effect on carcass dressing percentage, carcass quality characteristics or the chemical composition of breast muscles. The tested synbiotics as well as commercial probiotics can be valuable feed additives, improving the growth performance and immune status of turkeys.

Feed efficiency with the addition of probiotics for asang fish fry, Osteochilus vittatus, CV

The purpose of this study was to determine the addition of probiotics in commercial feed to the growth and survival of Asang fish (Osteochilus vittatus CV) fry. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The test fish used were 120 fish with a size ranging from 5-8 cm. The test fish were kept in a waring cage made of a type of paralon frame with a size of 40 x 40 x 45 cm. The treatment in this study was A (without probiotics), treatment B (addition of probiotic 10 ml/kg of feed), treatment C (addition of probiotic 20 ml/kg of feed), and treatment D (addition of probiotics 30 ml/kg of feed). From the results of this study, the highest specific growth rate was found in treatment D (6.66 ± 1.15 g), while the mean survival was 100% for all treatments. The highest FCR of fish fry was found in treatment A namely 1.43 ± 0.22, and the lowest in treatment D namely 1.12 ± 0.21, and for feed efficiency in treatment D, namely 95.24 ± 1.04 %.Keywords:Asang fishEfficiencyGrowthSurvival

​Effect of Concurrent Feeding of Hydroponics Maize Fodder and Probiotic (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) on Growth Performance in Gir Calves

Background: Technology advancement has introduced hydroponics technology for green fodder production. The present investigation was undertaken to study the growth performance of Gir cattle calves fed hydroponics maize fodder (HMF) with and without supplementation of probiotic (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). Methods: A feeding trial of 120 days was conducted on 36 male Gir calves divided into nine groups. Group T1 was treated as control. In group T2, T3, T4 and T5, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of CP supplied through concentrate mixture was replaced by HMF, respectively. Whereas in group T6, T7, T8 and T9, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of CP supplied through concentrate mixture was replaced by HMF with probiotic, respectively. Result: There was highly significant (P less than 0.01) effect of treatments i.e. feeding of HMF with and without supplementation of probiotic as well as period (age of calves) on periodical body weight and ADG. There was significantly higher mean periodical body weight (kg) and ADG (g/d) in calves fed HMF and probiotic than control. The highest overall mean body weight and ADG was observed in group T8, followed by T4 and lowest in control group. Overall mean body measurements viz. BH, BL and BG was highest in group T8 and lowest in group T1 but the variation was statistically non-significant for BG. Highly significant (P less than 0.01) effect of treatments and period were observed on FCR also. Lowest FCR was recorded in group T8, followed by T4 and highest FCR was recorded in control group. It was concluded that better growth performance was evoked in Gir cattle calves fed 75% CP of concentrate mixture replaced by hydroponics maize green fodder with probiotic.

Probiotics as a New Regulator for Bone Health: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Despite the proposed role of the gut microbiota-bone axis, findings on the association between probiotic consumption and bone health are conflicting. This systematic review aimed to assess the effect of probiotic consumption on bone health parameters. A systematic literature search of relevant reports published in PubMed/Medline, Web of Science, SCOPUS, EMBASE, and Google scholar before December 2020 was conducted. All clinical trials or experimental studies, which examined the relationship between probiotic consumption and bone health parameters, were included. No limitation was applied during the search. After screening articles based on inclusion criteria, 44 studies remained. In clinical trials, probiotic consumption affects bone health parameters such as serum calcium levels (3.82; 95% CI: 1.05, 6.59 mmol/l), urinary calcium levels (4.85; 95% CI: 1.16, 8.53 mmol/l), and parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels (−5.53; 95% CI: −9.83, −0.86 ng/l). In most studies, Lactobacillus species such as L. helveticus, L. reuteri, and L. casei were consumed and women aged 50 years or older were assessed. Spinal and total hip bone mineral density (BMD) was not affected significantly by probiotic consumption. In 37 animal experiments, probiotic or symbiotic feeding mostly had effects on bone health parameters. Some strains of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus including L. reuteri, L. casei, L. paracasei, L. bulgaricus, and L. acidophilus have indicated beneficial effects on bone health parameters. In conclusion, this systematic review and meta-analysis indicate that probiotic supplementation might improve bone health. Further studies are needed to decide on the best probiotic species and appropriate dosages.

Effect of Prebiotic and Probiotic Fish Feed on Physical, Chemical and Biological Quality of Feed

The limitations of fish in digesting food depend on the presence of enzymes protease, amylase, and lipase that react with substrates in the digestive channel of fish. Supplementation methods can be performed to increase fish growth by adding prebiotics and probiotics to the feed. This study aims to determine the influence of the difference in the length of time fermented prebiotic feed (sweet potato extract) and probiotics (Bacillus megaterium) on the quality of feed. The results of the physical analysis of fish feed showed the color looks brown, fishy smell, texture, and general conditions of feed seemed completely normal. Chemical analysis showed that the proteins were best improved in B3 treatment, with the period of fermentation approximately 72 hours. Biological analysis suggests that the longer the fermentation time taken, the higher the abundance of bacteria obtained. Effect of in ovo feeding of probiotic, prebiotic and synbiotic to Broiler embryos on growth performance, Mucin-2 gene expression and gut colonization of microbiota

Supplementation of antibiotics in poultry diet was banned in several countries due to development of antibiotic resistance. In ovo feeding of prebiotics, probiotics and synbiotics have gained more attention recently. The present study was carried out in 2018 to investigate the effect of in-ovo feeding of probiotic, prebiotic and symbiotic on growth performance and gut microbiome of broiler chicken. On 18th day of incubation, 600 eggs were randomly divided into five treatments each with four replicates of 30 eggs each and were injected with different bio-active compounds, viz. 0.2 ml of Lactobacillus acidophilus 3×107 cfu, 0.5% Mannan-oligosaccharide (MOS), synbiotic (0.1 ml each of Lactobacillus acidophilus 3×107 cfu and 0.5% MOS) along with injected and non-injected controls. After hatch, 400 chicks were sorted out as per treatment with four replicates of 20 chicks each. Birds were reared under deep litter system and fed with experimental diet ad lib. In ovo feeding of Lactobacillus acidophilus, MOS either separately or in combination significantly improved hatch weight, fifth week body weight and gain. However, hatchability, cumulative feed intake, cumulative FCR and cumulative livability were not affected. Improved colonization of Lactobacillus acidophilus and suppressed colonization of Salmonella, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus in all intra-amniotic groups was noticed. Ileal Mucin-2 gene was significantly up-regulated in the order of MOS, L. acidophilus and synbiotic injected broilers. The results concluded that the in ovo delivery of Lactobacillus acidophilus and MOS either separately or in combination had beneficial effect on growth and gut health of broiler chicken.

​Effect of Probiotic Enterococcus gallinarum N3 Supplemented Feed on Growth Performance of Freshwater Fish Cyprinus carpio

Background: Probiotic is the best solution (Produce antimicrobial compounds, inhibit colonization of pathogenic microorganism, increase digestive ability and confer better health to the host) as an alternative to antibiotics against various microbial infection in freshwater and marine water. The freshwater fish Cyprinus carpio was selected for this research work (due to high growth rate, high protein content, ability to survive under different climatic conditions and its availability throughout the year) to observe the effect of probiotic Enterococcus gallinarum N3 supplemented feed on its growth. Methods: In this present research work Prepared three different concentration of probiotic Enterococcus gallinarum N3 (0.1%. 0.5% and 1.0%) along with basal diet containing other ingredients (fish meal, groundnut oil cake, wheat bran, starch and Vitamin mineral premix). Initially 14 days acclimatized freshwater fish Cyprinus carpio to laboratory condition selected randomly for four treatment groups as Control (C) and probiotic feed treated T1, T2 and T3 group. The experiment was carried out for 42 days with continuous aeration, natural photoperiod of 16 hrs light and 8 hrs dark, maintain temperature constant and fishes fed diet twice daily. The feed ingredients and experimental diets analysed for proximate composition and measured Weight gain, Specific growth rate (SGR), and Feed conversion efficiency (FCE). Result: The proximate composition of the feed was determined as percentage dry matter in which 36.21% protein, 6.8% moisture and 7.8% of lipid. The probiotic feed experiment was conducted for 42 days and entire group of fishes was survived. The effect of probiotic feed on growth performance of Cyprinus carpio was measured as initial weight, final weight, weight gain, specific growth rate and feed conversion efficiency. The growth changes were observed before and after treatment with 0.1%, 0.5% and 1.0% of probiotic E. gallinarum N3 fed to Cyprinus carpio. The final weight (g) and final length (cm) was measured in treatment T1 (3.107 g; 3.32 cm), T2 (3.258 g; 3.40 cm) and T3 (3.413 g; 3.52 cm) respectively as compared with Control group C (2.255 g; 2.98 cm). The percentage weight gain obtained in group T1 (37.78%), T2 (44.45%) and (51.55%) respectively as compared with Control group C (29.54%). Maximum specific growth rate was observed in treatments T1 (0.94 % day-1), T2 (0.99% day-1) and T3 (1.02% day-1) as compared with control group C (0.56% day-1). The results showed better growth performance and feed utilization in all the three treated groups T1, T2 and T3. The best growth performance (final weight, final length, weight gain, specific growth rate and feed conversion efficiency) and feed utilization (moisture, protein and lipid) was observed best in T3 (1 g kg-1) group of fishes as compared to control C group. There was significant difference (P greater than 0.05) in final weight, final length, weight gain, specific growth rate and feed conversion efficiency.
