A Study to Check the Readiness of Final-Year Dental Students Vis-à-Vis to a Safe and an Independent Practitioner in Sultanate of Oman Amidst the Recent Pandemic.

It is essential for a dental student about to graduate to possess robust fundamentals in both basic and clinical dental science. There should be a perfect harmony and blend of basic and clinical science integration and application among final year graduating students. They should also demonstrate readiness and competence in performing various clinical skills independently, after correctly interpreting and diagnosing a dental disorder. Besides the clinical aspects of dentistry, the newly graduating dental student should understand the principles of professionalism and ethos. The main aim and objective were to conduct a study to assess the impact of COVID-19 on practice readiness among the fifth-year dental students at Oman Dental College (ODC). A study was conducted to measure self-preparedness among graduating students, especially during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic when education was significantly impacted. This study used a validated Dental Undergraduates Preparedness Assessment Scale (DU-PAS). The DU-PAS consists of 50 items, including 24 items related to clinical skills (part A) and 26 items related to scientific knowledge and affective skills (part B). Each item in part A was scored on a three-point scale ranging from no experience (0), with verbal and/or practical input from a colleague (1), to independently (2). Items in part B of the DU-PAS are scored on a three-point scale: no experience (0), mostly (1), and always (2). The maximum score for the 50 items on the DU-PAS is 100. Interestingly, the current study showed that the ODC final-year students were confident in performing several clinical procedures and had a good understanding of various professional aspects of clinical dentistry. The didactic online classes and preclinical sessions conducted while adhering to social distancing and other safety norms during the COVID-19 pandemic, were positively received by the students.

Judicial ethics violations: Legal aspect and the role of judicial supervision

This research investigates judicial ethics violations in Indonesia and suggests remedies for the problem. It aims to understand the types and causes of these violations and inform potential legislative changes. The research methodology employed is a combination of qualitative and descriptive approaches. The study analyzes judicial commission court decisions on ethics violations by judges and conducts interviews with officers of the Judicial Commission of Indonesia. This approach allows for a thorough examination of the trends in ethical violations and the contributing factors. The main findings of the paper highlight the various forms of ethical violations, including lack of professionalism, discipline, fairness, honesty, and integrity. The research identifies factors such as intervention by court leaders, a culture emphasizing authority, lack of independence in family-related cases, and inadequate knowledge and culture of upholding professional principles as contributing to these violations. The conclusion emphasizes the need to strengthen external supervision by the Judicial Commission and to require the Supreme Court to obtain recommendations from the Judicial Commission before promoting judges. The paper highlights the relevance of its findings in informing potential amendments to legislation and promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct among judges.

Study of the Implications of Professional Ethics in the Application of the Latest Laws in Medical Practice

This research investigates the impact of the implementation of recent laws related to medical practice on doctors' views and actions in facing ethical dilemmas. Through a combined approach of literature study and case analysis, we evaluate how new legal regulations influence professional ethical principles in medical decision making. The results show that changes in legal regulations give rise to ethical conflicts in medical practice, requiring a delicate balance between compliance with the law and maintaining moral integrity in healthcare services to patients

Becoming a social worker

Despite being the subject of numerous research, professional identity in social work remains an important yet contentious concept. The aim of this article is to contribute to the literature on professional identity in social work by reflecting on the mutual development of the personal and professional identities of social workers in Ghana. Interviews were conducted among 20 social workers in two regions of Ghana, the northern and central regions. The evidence shows that the identity of social workers is shaped by two major factors – the statutory legal regime in which they operate, and the professional principles they apply in their work. Understood within the frame of social identity theory, the narratives of the social workers indicate how identifying with the professional group bestows distinctiveness and a change in personal identity. This change is reflected in their attitudes and value judgements of previously taken-for-granted socio-cultural practices. But while they firmly identify with the state and the professional principles, the social workers actively attempt to build local authenticity into their professional practices.

Of Fernweh and Fleabites: German Female Journalists in Pursuit of Adventure, 1937–1942

AbstractThis article opens up new perspectives on gendered experiences of the Nazi era by exploring three individual women as case studies for subjective interpretations of German nationalism and modernity in the late 1930s and early 1940s. It focuses on Liselotte Purper, Ilse Steinhoff, and Margret Boveri, all of them journalists and photographers from Germany who sought adventure abroad and published books and articles about their trips back home. They were independent, hardworking, and pro-Nazi regime, though their professional and political principles played out differently. In tracing how these three women navigated and narrated their international journeys, I highlight that their quest for adventure, like those of others with a similar propensity for travel, involved primarily the pursuit of independence, individuality, and historical relevance. The range of their experiences and interpretations further draws attention to the complex relationship between collective identity and individual subjectivity under Nazism.

Threats and Safeguarding Measures Related to the Activity of Accounting Professionals

Integrity, objectivity, the acquisition of specialized competence and professional behaviour are some of the fundamental elements of the professional ethics principles that must be considered by a future professional accountant. At the same time, he or she should encounter the challenges that are specific for this activity. These can be self-interest, self-review, representation, familiarity, intimidation, etc., which must be identified and handled with great care by a professional accountant, so as to ensure the credibility of the chosen profession. The aim of the research is to highlight the types of threats that can affect the work of accounting professionals, as well as the protective measures that could eliminate or reduce them to an acceptable level. In order to achieve the goal set, the author used the research, qualitative methods, in particular, observation, analysis and documentation.

Implementation of Good Corporate Governance Principles in Bank Syariah Indonesia Nganjuk Sub-Branch

Introduction: Insufficient implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) is the cause of financial instability which has an impact on deteriorating bank financial performance and causes failure in GCG implementation. This research aims to find out what factors support and hinder the implementation of GCG in Bank Syariah Indonesia Ahmad Yani Nganjuk Sub-Branch. Research Methods: This research uses qualitative research with a descriptive qualitative approach. The data collection methodology consists of observation, interviews and documentation supported by secondary data sourced from the BSI Syariah website. Result: The results of this research show that the implementation of the five GCG principles can be described as follows: the company is transparent in providing various services, various provisions regarding corporate responsibility have been made and implemented. Fairness indicators have also been given great attention in various aspects. However, in the principles of accountability and professionalism, there are still obstacles, including employees not being punctual and not being disciplined regarding their respective job descriptions. Conclusion: The conclusion of this research is that Bank Syariah Indonesia Nganjuk sub-branch has implemented GCG principles even though there are still several factors that cause some indicators to not be optimal. It is necessary to carry out training, evaluation and work monitoring for employees.

Professionalism in pre-licensure nursing education: Core values, didactic coursework and clinical training.

To discuss professionalism for pre-licensure nursing students and identify recommendations for inclusion in core values, didactic coursework and clinical training. Professionalism is part of the nursing identity that encompasses integrity and honesty. This concept has been difficult to translate into formal education in nursing programs and clinical practice. A discursive paper. A search of national literature without date restrictions in PubMed, CINAHL, Google Scholar and frameworks for nursing education. We explored principles of professionalism in nursing education and practice. Evidence-based literature supports the integration of core values of altruism, autonomy, human dignity, integrity, honesty and social justice into didactic curricula, and clinical training. Principles of professionalism can be incorporated intentionally in nursing education to maintain patient safety and trust. The principles of professionalism, related to core values of the nursing profession, are abundantly described in the literature. However, these principles represent core values that have not been formally conceptualized. With the changing landscape of healthcare, there is a need for deliberate, measurable integration of professionalism into pre-licensure education. There was no patient or public involvement in the design or drafting of this discursive paper.

Problematics Of The Implementation Of Hajj And Umrah (Study Of Law Number 8 Of 2019 Concerning The Implementation Of Hajj And Umrah)

This research was conducted to find out the implementation of Hajj and Umrah according to Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah and to find out and provide solutions to problems with the implementation of Hajj and Umrah in Indonesia. Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam that must be performed by every Muslim who is physically, mentally, spiritually, socially, and financially capable and once in a lifetime. The implementation of Hajj is mandated by Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah (PIHU). In accordance with these laws and regulations, the organisation of the Hajj is the responsibility of the government. This is based on the consideration that the implementation of the Hajj is a national duty and involves the dignity and good name of the nation. The implementation of the Hajj in Indonesia as explained in article 2 and article 3 of Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah, that the Implementation of the Hajj is carried out based on the principles of sharia, trust, justice, benefit, benefit, safety, security, professionalism, transparency, and accountability. The normative legal research method is focused on analysing legal documents and applying a library research approach to Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah. Qualitatively analysed data will be presented in the form of systematic descriptions as well, then all data is selected, processed and then stated descriptively so that it can provide solutions to the problems in question. From the overall study that has been presented in accordance with Law No. 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah, it can be concluded that the implementation of Hajj and Umrah is inseparable from various problems. From the registration stage, discussion and determination of BPIH, guidance, transportation services, accommodation/lodging services, health, catering and protection of pilgrims, Hajj organisations, Hajj organising committees, and Hajj officers, the main focus of Hajj implementation has been on the provision of accommodation, transportation and catering services. Attention to these service aspects is important to realise the comfort of the pilgrims in performing their hajj, but another thing that must receive attention is the aspect of Hajj guidance, starting from the implementation of Hajj manasik guidance, to Hajj guidance during the implementation of Hajj in Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. It must be said that not all hajj pilgrims have adequate knowledge and competence about hajj, therefore guidance in the implementation of hajj in Saudi Arabia is a necessity that should not be ignored, so that hajj pilgrims can perform their hajj in accordance with the provisions of shari'a and realise independence and resilience in the implementation of hajj and umrah in accordance with Law Number 8 of 2019.

Administrative and legal regulation of public service in bodies of the executive power

In the paper, a study of the administrative and legal regulation of public service in the bodies of the executive power was carried out. On the basis of the conducted scientific research, the author came to the conclusion that the administrative and legal regulation of public service in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine provides for the presence in its structure of political employees who are not subject to the provisions of the legislation on civil service, as well as the principles of professionalism, political neutrality and stability public service, as well as civil servants and employees of the patronage service. The latter ensure the activities of the members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (except for those who head the ministry) and are formally subordinated to the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, but in fact are subordinated only to the person whose activity they ensure. The administrative and legal regulation of public service in ministries and local executive bodies provides for the presence in their structure of both political and state and patronage employees, who are managed by the state secretary of the ministry (or the head of the staff of the local state administration), in other central bodies of executive power and territorial subdivisions of ministries, other central bodies of the executive power, there are no political employees, and the management of the state service and strategic management of the relevant body is carried out by its head.

Female Journalists in Mainstream Media in Facing The Challenges of Online Media in The Covid-19 Era

For mainstream media, the outbreak of Covid-19 hit them hard as it complicates the existing challenges. The mainstream media have to deal with the Covid-19 effect, and at the same time must strive to survive online media attacks. This study aims to find out the relationship patterns, work processes, and effects of journalistic work among women journalists in mainstream media. This research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological strategy. Data was collected through in-depth interviews. Observations were also carried out to enrich the data. The results of this study can be constructed into three categories, namely relationship pattern, work process, and effect of journalistic work. This study conclude that patterns of relationships between mainstream media women journalists and their news sources are developed based on the principles of professionalism, idealism, and neutrality. The work process of women journalists consists of finding, collecting, processing, and publishing activities. The effects of journalistic work created by mainstream media women journalists occur in the form of praise, complaints, insults, and intimidation from news sources or the public.

Ethically Challenging Issues in Business Interpreting: Learning How to Face Cultural Quandaries Through Practice and Reflection

In business interpreting training, there is the need to train prospective interpreters in professional ethics and conduct, since tenets assumed in other interpreting domains such as impartiality and wholeness may conflict with the interests and needs of the business hiring the interpreter’s services and therefore place the interpreter in an ethical dilemma. In this article, we show how examples of ethically challenging elements extracted from a real interpreter-mediated business meeting corpus (in particular, issues related to culture clashes) can be addressed in business interpreting training. Trainee interpreters are exposed to these situations, which are previously introduced in (semi-)structured roleplays that are then used in the training sessions, and the following subsequent feedback and discussion allow trainees and trainers to explore and expound different options that both transmit the correct message and, more importantly, adhere to professional principles and protocols.

Medication Safety in Breastfeeding Mothers. The Current Situation in the Greek National Healthcare System

Mothers during lactation may encounter barriers including the need of medication intake due to a chronic or acute illness, which may affect mainly the duration of breastfeeding. In these cases, the issue of medication safety during lactation arises and maternal decisions usually depend on professional counseling. Providing scientifically valid information on the benefits of breastfeeding and the risk of exposure of the newborn/infant to medicines through breast milk is a responsibility of healthcare professionals. Reliable sources on the compatibility of medicines with breastfeeding vary and the information among them is conflicting or even insufficient, creating as a consequence difficulty for healthcare professionals to provide counseling. Given the fact that breastfeeding mothers are excluded from clinical trials as they are considered a vulnerable population, the scientific community has turned to alternative methods based on pharmacokinetic population modeling for medication safety during lactation. In addition, through pharmacovigilance science, databases related to drug compatibility with breastfeeding can be enriched with new data. Undoubtedly, the contribution of midwives and other healthcare professionals involved in breastfeeding plays a key role in the pharmacovigilance process through the observation and reporting of side effects. In the Greek national healthcare system, telephone helplines have been established to provide information on medication safety during lactation. Finally, information is provided on the guiding principles for midwives and other healthcare professionals regarding medication safety in breastfeeding mothers. The ultimate goal is to support and prolong breastfeeding with evidence-based knowledge.

Orthopedic surgeons, owing to their specialized role, have a set of medical and moral responsibilities that span beyond the confines of the operating room. The primary objective of this exploration is to emphasize the pivotal ethical and professional standards that these surgeons should uphold. We derived key ethical and professional aspects by reviewing standard medical practices, professional guidelines, and through consultations with senior orthopedic professionals. These aspects covered both the conduct inside the surgery room and the interpersonal relations outside. Features of the functioning of jury courts in the public administration system in Ukraine

The purpose of the article is to examine the jury court as a body of public administration.
 The legal status of the jury trial in the system of public administration in Ukraine is considered. An analysis of the possibility of interpreting the jury court as a public organization was carried out and it was substantiated that the jury does not fall under the status of a public organization. It has been established that the administration of justice in Ukraine is the function of only state bodies to which the jury belongs, as it is part of the judicial system of Ukraine.
 The jury court as a body of state judicial power was considered. It has been proven that the jury has a number of specific features that distinguish state bodies from non-state bodies, in particular, it has been established that the difference between the jury and other bodies of state power is that it does not have a certain permanent composition, and the jury is formed once on the basis of a complex selection mechanism for consideration of a specific case.
 It is justified that the jury court is an institution that controls the distribution of power prerogatives between the branches of power: executive, legislative and judicial. The jury, as the most democratic judicial body, in this case performs a control function, preventing the interference of legislative and executive bodies in the administration of justice, which is not provided for by law.
 The authors conclude that, in carrying out its activities, the jury closely interacts with other bodies of state power: with law enforcement agencies and the prosecutor’s office as bodies that perform the function of the prosecutor’s office, with local self-government bodies as bodies that provide voter lists, with other bodies of judicial power , which control the activity of the jury court.
 It was determined that the jury acts in accordance with the principles of the organization and operation of the state apparatus, which include: legality and constitutionality, the principle of professionalism (regarding professional lawyers) and ethics of civil servants, the optimal structure and functioning of the state body, its effectiveness. These and other principles are reflected in the legal acts regulating the activity of the jury court.

Investigation of the Relationship between Coaches’ Professional Ethical Principles and Self-Control and Self-Management Skills

What rare cancers have in common. The making of lists of (very) rare cancers and the coordination of medical work.

This article aims to understand why medical actors recently published lists of rare and very rare cancers. It studies four lists of rare and very rare cancers based on interviews with the main actors on these lists and an analysis of medical articles in which these lists were published. It argues that these lists constitute boundary objects whose aim is to deal with the organizational challenges raised by precision medicine, which imply increasing the coordination work between various types of actors. Our work therefore allows a better understanding of the functioning of the recursive standardization process of a boundary object and, by analyzing how the category of rarity is built at the intersection of both professional and nosographic principles, shows the intertwining of the biomedical, organizational, and political aspects on which rests the practice of contemporary precision medicine.

Translating Knowledge Into Clinical Practice: A Unique End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium Teleconferencing Program.

For learning to influence change in palliative clinical practice, education needs to be ongoing, incorporating specific interventions targeted to the learner, in a format that enhances knowledge and networking. This novel, online, interactive, case-based educational offering provided a method to allow ongoing integration of palliative care principles for health care professionals who attended the End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium/Open Medical Institute courses in Salzburg during 2019-2022. Eight monthly teleconferences based on challenging clinical cases allowed discussion between palliative care professionals from 9 countries, serving as a mechanism for deepening theoretical information, allowing incorporation of best practice into the clinical setting, and, ultimately, improving care for all with serious illness. Many of the challenges encountered providing palliative care are universal. Through case vignettes, the group has been able to offer specific interventions, advances in practice, and discussions of approaches toward family and other health care professionals to provide optimal care. The participants report that the opportunity to learn from and support peers in other countries has been a rewarding and emotionally uplifting experience. These discussions were highly rated by participants who strongly voiced that the interactions would change their clinical practice to positively impact patient care.

The dynamics of science in the pesantren environment have been impacted by changes or modernization of Islamic education in Indonesia related to the idea of Islamic modernization in this region, such as the emergence of several Islamic boarding schools, including salaf (traditional) Islamic boarding schools, kholaf (modern), and semi-kholaf (semi-modern) Islamic boarding schools.
