Purpose:- To study the efficacy of conjunctival limbal stem cell grafting in patients with primary as well as recurrent pterygium; to evaluate the change in post-operative best corrected visual acuity; post-operative cosmetic appearance. Methods:- The study is prospective, interventional study carried out for a period of two years.70 eyes of 70 patients with primary(progressive) and recurrent pterygium were operated and limbal stem cell grafting was done. The patients were followed-up for a period of 12 months. Result:- During the follow-up period pterygium recurred in 4 patients (5.71%). Best corrected visual acuity of 37(52.85%) patients remained stable and in 33(47.14%)patients improved. The post-operative cosmesis was good in 61(87%) cases. Conclusion:- Conjunctival Limbal stem cell grafting is a safe and effective procedure in the management of pterygium, with low recurrence rate.
