Design and Construction of Magnetic Support Construction Separator on Track V 33 BC-5 at Greenzone 2

The process of shredding and sorting waste in the Pre Processing method is one of PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia's contributions in overcoming waste and pollution problems. The waste will be shredded into certain sizes and put into the cement kiln. The processing place is called a green zone. In this process, sometimes the material transport contains impurities in the form of metal and the like. This distribution has the potential to cause foreign material to be carried because there is no sorting of waste content. Belt conveyors and dynamic disc screens are often damaged by the metal material. This problem can be overcome with a magnetic separator to separate foreign metals from waste that is channeled using a belt conveyor. The magnetic separator provides protection for the dynamic disc screen and conveyor operating process from foreign material so that the potential for wear on the dynamic disc screen and torn belt conveyor can be avoided. The installation of the magnetic separator position uses a construction based on the optimal position. This study discusses the design and construction of the green zone belt conveyor magnetic separator installation. The construction installation for the magnetic separator aims to facilitate access to maintenance and cleaning, also provide access to dispose of foreign materials and protect the material transport system in the green zone. Before redesign magnetic sparator, the company spent Rp. 389,000,000 maintenance cost from November 2023 to February2024 period. After redesign, it’s can reducing maintenance and repair costs during the period March 2024 to July 2024 with no maintenance related to metal separation.

Magnetic Field-Assisted Orientation and Positioning of Magnetite for Flexible and Electrically Conductive Sensors.

Magnetic field-assisted control of magnetite location is a promising strategy for developing flexible, electrically conductive sensors with enhanced performance and adjustable properties. This study investigates the effect of static magnetic fields applied on thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) composites with magnetite and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT). The composites were prepared by compression moulding and the magnetic field was applied on the mould cavity during processing. Composites were prepared with a range of concentrations of magnetite (1, 3, and 6 wt.%) and MWCNT (1 and 3 wt.%). The effect of particle concentration on composite viscosity was investigated. Rheological analysis showed that MWCNTs significantly increased the composite viscosity while magnetite had minimal impact, ensuring stable processing and facilitating particle orientation under a static magnetic field. Particle orientation and electrical conductivity were evaluated for the composites prepared with different particle concentrations under different processing temperatures. Magnetic field application at 190 °C enhanced magnetite/MWCNT interactions, substantially reducing electrical resistivity while preserving thermal stability. The composites showed no degradation at 220 °C and above, demonstrating suitability for high-temperature applications requiring thermal resilience. Furthermore, magnetite's magnetic response facilitated precise sensor positioning and strong adhesion to polyimide substrates at 220 °C. These findings demonstrate a scalable and adaptable approach for enhancing sensor performance and positioning, with broad potential in flexible electronics.

Finger contact keyboard for typing with tiny movement recognition

Hemiplegic patients often struggle with typing rapidly and accurately using a standard keyboard. This study developed a keyboard in continuous contact with the fingers, allowing for easier and more effective typing. With the proposed keyboard, the user types with their healthy hand and paralyzed hand. The hardware and software of the finger contact keyboard were investigated. In deciding the hardware, we measured the hand shape, finger speed, and muscle fatigue using electromyography, magnetic positioning sensors, and force sensors for eight participants. Using the Pareto solution, we optimized the keyboard’s structure to maximize finger movement speed and minimize muscle fatigue. As the software of the proposed keyboard, we developed an algorithm implementing a neural network to identify intentional typing and tested the algorithm on five participants. The highest average discrimination accuracy was 99.3% when the force threshold was approximately 1.32 N. The mean accuracy achieved using the neural network was 90.8%, which is higher than that achieved using the threshold algorithm (80.4%). In 40 trials, the proposed keyboard achieved the same accuracy and speed as the standard keyboard, and the input time for a patient with hemiplegia was reduced by 16.2%.

Optimization of an Asymmetric-Rotor Permanent Magnet-Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motor for Improved Anti-Demagnetization Performance

Permanent magnet-assisted synchronous reluctance motors (PMA-SynRMs) are widely used in various fields due to their significant advantages, including strong torque output, high efficiency, excellent speed regulation, and low cost. The PMA-SynRM with asymmetric-rotor structure has a weaker anti-demagnetization performance than the conventional PMA-SynRM due to its multi-layer and thin permanent magnets construction. According to the finite element (FEM) simulation analysis, the anti-demagnetization performance of the asymmetric-rotor PMA-SynRM can be improved by adding bypass magnetic bridges on the ribs of the flux barriers and by changing the positions of the permanent magnets. The rotor structure of the proposed model is globally optimized by combining the two methods. Anti-demagnetization performance is improved as much as possible under the premise of ensuring the torque performance of the basic model. After multi-objective optimization, there is almost no difference between the optimized model and the basic model in terms of no-load air-gap flux density, no-load Back-electromotive force (EMF), and average torque. The maximum demagnetization rate of the optimized model is reduced by 81.44% compared with the basic model, and the anti-demagnetization performance is significantly improved. At the same time, the torque ripple is also reduced by 44.14%, which is obviously reduced. Compared with the basic model, the optimized model has better stability and reliability.

MP-KAN: An effective magnetic positioning algorithm based on Kolmogorov-Arnold network

Magnetic Positioning (MP) technology represents a novel approach to locating spatial particles, notably medical capsules, wherein the inherently weak and susceptible-to-interference magnetic signals pose stringent demands on spatial positioning algorithms. Traditional methods are usually limited to polynomial fitting, which limits the generalization of the algorithm and the positioning accuracy of the near field part. In this paper, we introduce a magnetic positioning algorithm grounded in the Kolmogorov-Arnold network (MP-KAN), innovatively introduces the neural network method into the magnetic positioning system, providing a novel research idea for the positioning algorithm. Distinguishing from the learnable weight parameters inherent in the traditional model, the KAN network introduces a learnable activation function formulated through spline functions. This innovation enhances model accuracy by leveraging multiple spline curves and executing summation operations at nodes to facilitate regression predictions. Furthermore, the residual of the predicted position and the L1-parameter in the KAN layer and its entropy regularization are used as the prediction loss, and thresholds are strategically set at the network nodes to enhance the generalization ability of the model and obtain the optimal configuration. The proposed method achieves the goal of improving the positioning accuracy of the system while ensuring that the algorithm has a nearly constant positioning accuracy regardless of the distance between the target and the measurement system. The results of an experimental demonstrate that the maximum positioning error within the data set stands at 0.24 mm, the maximum relative error is 5.72 %, the minimum relative error is 0.25 %.

Optimizing focused very-high-energy electron beams for radiation therapy based on Monte Carlo simulation

A TOPAS-based optimization program has been developed to precisely concentrate the dose of focused very-high-energy electron (VHEE) beams on deep-seated targets. This is accomplished by optimizing the magnetic gradients, positions, and number of quadrupole magnets within TOPAS. Using only three quadrupole magnets, the program focuses 250 MeV VHEE beams to achieve a maximum dose position deeper than 17 cm, while maintaining entrance and exit doses within 25% and limiting the lateral dimensions to ≤ 1 cm at the maximum dose location. The linear relationship between the magnetic gradient of the last quadrupole magnet and the maximum dose position enables dose location adjustments through gradient variation. Multiple positions were validated in TOPAS with errors within 1%. The spread-out electron peak (SOEP) is achieved by combining two VHEE beams with different maximum dose positions using the differential evolution method, covering a target depth of 12–17 cm and attaining a dose flatness better than 99%. This pioneering program imposes constraints on entrance dose, exit dose, maximum dose position, and the lateral dimensions of dose deposition at the maximum dose position within phantom. This program may be a promising tool in the applications of focused VHEE in highly conformal treatment plans based on TOPAS.

The Concept and Measurements of an Adjustable Holder for Large Magnets Applicable for a THz Undulator Working in Superradiant Emission

The main aim of this study is the concept of the magnet holder for the THz undulator utilized in the PolFEL superradiant light source. To achieve maximum flux at high K values (radiation frequencies ranging from 0.5 THz to 5 THz, and K values exceeding 3), it is necessary to use large permanent magnets with dimensions of 100 × 100 × 39.9 mm. For the above assumptions and parameters and specific requirements for magnet positioning, existing design solutions in the literature were found to be insufficient. The main challenges in the design of this holder included the following: (a) the unusually large size of the magnets, (b) requirements of wide-range calibration, and (c) large magnetic forces acting on each magnet, which can approach almost 4 kN. Taking into consideration these challenges, the prototype of the magnet holder was developed and manufactured. The paper presents the findings from both numerical and experimental studies aimed at validating the mechanical behavior and deformation of the proposed magnet holder. The measurements were conducted using two methods—traditional with the use of dial indicators and a novel approach based on the application of the Digital Image Correlation. The results from these numerical and experimental studies indicate that all specified requirements have been satisfactorily met. The study confirms the capability for accurate magnet positioning, demonstrating stable deformation of the holder under a magnetic load. Additionally, it was proved that the positioning of the magnets is both linear and repeatable, with calibration achievable within a range of at least ±0.25 mm.

State-restricted adaptive control of a multilevel rotating electromagnetic mechanical flexible device using electromagnetic actuators

This work presents the development of a multilevel electromagnetic actuation system that controls the shape of a flexible rotatory robotic structure. An array of electromagnets is used as the set of actuators that regulate the position of permanent magnets within the flexible device. The primary outcome of this study is the design and experimental validation of the multilevel rotating device. In addition, the theoretical description of the system motion under electromagnetic actuation is formulated using Euler–Lagrange and electromagnetic theories. Given the developed model, a theoretical study leads to designing an adaptive control that considers motion restrictions in the flexible device. The controller aims to modify the current applied to the electromagnets, which changes the interaction forces between the electromagnet and the permanent magnets in the robotic flexible structure. A set of numerical simulations confirms the proposed controller’s effectiveness compared to the traditional state feedback approach that does not consider the state restrictions, which is implemented in devices that also operate under an electromagnetic approach. Furthermore, an experimental version of the flexible device allows for testing of the developed controller. The experimental results show the suitability of the proposed control to generate non-oscillatory controlled motion during the regulation of the flexible mechanic device shape.

Performance and discharge characteristics of Applied–Field MPD thruster in accordance with ring magnet position

The magnetic field has a significant impact on the performance and discharge characteristics of magnetoplasmadynamic (MPD) thrusters. A low-power MPD thruster with an operating power of 10 kW was developed, and its performance characteristics were examined by altering the applied magnetic field. The thrust increased from 92 mN to 310 mN, and specific impulse from 479 s to 1264 s, respectively, within the input power range of 4–10 kW. Spectral analysis of the plume revealed that the increase in performance was significantly affected by the ion current density rather than by the ion energy. Furthermore, the shape and flux density of the magnetic fields inside the discharge channel were altered by adjusting the position of the permanent magnets from z = 0 to −4 cm at 1 cm intervals relative to the alumina insulator inside the discharge channel. Consequently, the thrust increased by approximately 14–40 % at the specific magnetic field configuration with a ratio of Br/Bz = 0.3, despite not being at the maximum magnetic field strength. The ratio of the radial to axial magnetic fields is strongly correlated with thruster performance and should be considered in optimizing design.

Relative position estimation using modulated magnetic field for close proximity formation flight

This paper presents a method to estimate relative position vectors between spacecraft equipped with magnetic coils and magnetic field sensors for close proximity operation. Filters can segregate a magnetic field with a particular frequency if spacecraft drive their coils with this specific frequency. The proposed method utilizes the amplitude of the magnetic field with a particular frequency to estimate relative position vectors. The method consists of an initial position estimator and a sequential position estimator, which is an unscented Kalman filter. The initial position estimator provides a coarse estimate for the relative position vectors using the segregated magnetic field. Relation between the magnetic field and relative position vector is derived analytically in this article for the initial position estimator. The unscented Kalman filter refines the estimation accuracy by initializing the filter with the estimate by the initial position estimator. It is shown that a spacecraft can conduct relative position vector estimation using the magnetic field of a target spacecraft, provided that a few conditions clarified in the article are satisfied. Finally, the proposed estimators are evaluated numerically via simulations.

High speed vibration compensation using magnetic fiducials via NIMBLE

Additive manufacturing (AM) technology, specifically 3D printing, holds great promise for in-orbit manufacturing. In-space printing can significantly reduce the mass, cost, and risk of long-term space exploration by enabling replacement parts to be made as needed and reducing dependence on Earth. However, printing in a zero-gravity environment poses challenges due to the absence of a rigid ground for the print platform, which can result in vibrational and rotational forces that may impact printing integrity. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel linear magnetic position tracking algorithm, named Navigation Integrating Magnets By Linear Estimation (NIMBLE), for dynamic vibration compensation during 3D printing of truss structures in space. Compared to the most commonly used nonlinear optimization method, the NIMBLE algorithm is more than two orders of magnitude faster. With only a single 3-axis magnet sensor and a small NdFeB magnet, the NIMBLE algorithm provides a simple and easily implemented tracking solution for in-orbit 3D printing.

AC/DC Magnetic Field Sensing Based on a Piezoelectric Polymer and a Fully Printed Planar Spiral Coil.

Additive manufacturing (AM) is emerging as an eco-friendly method for minimizing waste, as the demand for responsive materials in IoT and Industry 4.0 is on the rise. Magnetoactive composites, which are manufactured through AM, facilitate nonintrusive remote sensing and actuation. Printed magnetoelectric composites are an innovative method that utilizes the synergies between magnetic and electric properties. The study of magnetoelectric effects, including the recently validated piezoinductive effect, demonstrates the generation of electric voltage through external AC and DC magnetic fields. This shift in magnetic sensors, utilizing piezoinductive effect of the piezoelectric polymer poly(vinylidene fluoride), PVDF, eliminates the need for magnetic fillers in printed devices, aligning with sustainability principles, essential for the deployment of IoT and Industry 4.0. The achieved sensitivity surpasses other studies by 100 times, showcasing linear outputs for both applied AC and DC magnetic fields. Additionally, the sensor capitalizes on the linear phase shift of the generated signal with an applied DC magnetic field, an unprecedented effect. Thus, this work introduces a remarkable magnetoactive device with a sensitivity of ST = 95.1 ± 0.9 μV Oe-1 mT-1, a significantly improved performance compared to magnetoelectric devices using polymer composites. As a functional proof of concept of the developed system, a magnetic position sensor has been demonstrated.

Effects of horizontal magnetic field position on oxygen control in 12-inch Czochralski silicon

The application of a horizontal magnetic field is an important method for controlling point defects and impurity distribution in 12-inch Czochralski silicon used in integrated circuits. This work introduces the effects and mechanisms of horizontal magnetic field positioning on oxygen concentration in 12-inch single crystal silicon used for commercial integrated circuits. Effect of melt convection, and temperature distribution on oxygen concentration at the bodying length of 500 mm was presented and analyzed by combining growth experiments and numerical simulations (using CGSim_23_2 from STR) with different horizontal magnetic field positioning. This study found that the mechanism of magnetic field control of oxygen is not directly correlated with the convection suppression effect. It is important to avoid the overlap of strong magnetic regions with high-temperature areas, as this can lead to additional oxygen dissolution.

Based on measurements of magnetic declinations with standard shipboard instruments in three marine expeditions in the Russian Arctic, estimates of the Earth`s North Magnetic Pole position in 2021 were obtained. It is located in the Russian sector of the Arctic. Experiments on determining the North Magnetic Pole in 2021 were carried out on board the research vessels “Professor Molchanov” and the scientific expedition one “Mikhail Somov” supported by the hydrographic ship of “Horizon”. The calculations used a comparison of measurements along the quasi-closed route with magnetic declination data using the International Geomagnetic Analytical Field IGRF13 (International Geomagnetic Reference Field) model with the choice of the minimum discrepancy, a simple inverse matching problem for smooth functions was solved. The results obtained confirm the possibility of regular operational assessment of the Earth`s magnetic poles position. The technology of assessing the magnetic deviation of ships is considered

Magneto-Enzymatic Microgels for Precise Hydrogel Sculpturing.

The inclusion of hollow channels in tissue-engineered hydrogels is crucial for mimicking the natural physiological conditions and facilitating the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to cells. Although bio-fabrication techniques provide diverse strategies to create these channels, many require sophisticated equipment and time-consuming protocols. Herein, collagenase, a degrading agent for methacrylated gelatin hydrogels, and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) are combined and processed into enzymatically active spherical structures using a straightforward oil bath emulsion methodology. The generated microgels are then used to microfabricate channels within biomimetic hydrogels via a novel sculpturing approach that relied on the precise coupling of protein-enzyme pairs (for controlled local degradation) and magnetic actuation (for directional control). Results show that the sculpting velocity can be tailored by adjusting the magnetic field intensity or concentration of MNPs within the microgels. Additionally, varying the magnetic field position or microgel size generated diverse trajectories and channels of different widths. This innovative technology improves the viability of encapsulated cells through enhanced medium transport, outperforming non-sculpted hydrogels and offering new perspectives for hydrogel vascularization and drug/biomolecule administration. Ultimately, this novel concept can help design fully controlled channels in hydrogels or soft materials, even those with complex tortuosity, in a single wireless top-down biocompatible step.

Tailored Magnetic Spatial Confinement with Enhanced Polarization and Magnetic Response for Electromagnetic Wave Absorption.

For materials with coexisting phases, the transition from a random to an ordered distribution of materials often generates new mechanisms. Although the magnetic confinement effect has improved the electromagnetic (EM) performance, the transition from random to ordered magnetic confinement positions remains a synthetic challenge, and the underlying mechanisms are still unclear. Herein, precise control of magnetic nanoparticles is achieved through a spatial confinement growth strategy, preparing five different modalities of magnetic confined carbon fiber materials, effectively inhibiting magnetic agglomeration. Systematic studies have shown that the magnetic confinement network can refine CoNi NPs size and enhance strong magnetic coupling interactions. Compared to CoNi@HCNFs on the hollow carbon fibers (HCNFs) outer surface, HCNFs@CoNi constructed on the inner surface induce stronger spatial charge polarization relaxation at the interface and exhibit stronger magnetic coupling interactions at the inner surface due to the high-density magnetic coupling units at the micro/nanoscale, thereby respectively enhancing dielectric and magnetic losses. Remarkably, they achieve a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of -64.54dB and an absorption bandwidth of 5.60GHz at a thickness of 1.77mm. This work reveals the microscale mechanism of magnetic confinement-induced different polarization relaxation and magnetic response, providing a new strategy for designing magnetic materials.

The Effect of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field Clock Angle and the Latitude Location of the Intense Crustal Magnetic Field on the Ion Escape at Mars: An MHD Simulation Study

AbstractIn this paper, using a three‐dimensional multifluid MHD model, we studied the effects of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) clock angle and the latitude position of the intense crustal magnetic field (ICMF) on the escape of ions O+, , and at Mars. The main results are as follows: (a) The IMF clock angle affects the ion escape at Mars. When the ICMF is on the dayside, the ion escape rate reaches a maximum at the IMF clock angles close to 60°–90° and a minimum at the IMF clock angles close to 120°–150°, because the ICMF can change the topology of the magnetic field and affect the interaction between the solar wind and Mars. The difference between the maximum and minimum ion escape rates due to the IMF clock angle can reach over 50%. (b) Compared with the −ESW hemisphere, the escape flux of and in the +ESW hemisphere is more significant. However, O+ generally has a larger escape flux in the −ESW hemisphere. The different results in the ±ESW hemispheres might be due to the larger distribution of the hot oxygen corona, which changes the flow pattern of O+. (c) The latitude location of the ICMF can also affect the ion escape. When the ICMF is on the dayside, as the subsolar point varies from 25°S to 25°N, that is, the intense crustal magnetic field position keeps shifting southward, the ion escape rate shows a gradual increase.

Modeling and Study of Different Magnet Topologies in Rotor of Low Rating IPMSMs

A study and performance analysis of magnet positions in different topology on the surface of rotor in permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) based on finite element method is observed here. A 3-phase interior PMSM is numerically simulated with ANSYS Maxwell 2018.1. Differently positioned permanent magnets improve the performance of PMSMs. Apart from handling nonlinear equations, FEM is used for simulation. ANSYS is used to analyze PMSM performance under variable conditions. This proposal examines a three-phase, 0.55 kW PMSM at 220 V, 50 Hz. Here rotor topologies of five types, namely, (i) spoke/tangential, (ii) saturable bridge / u-shape, (iii) V-shape, (iv) radial, and (v) segmented bridge permanent magnet rotor are taken for observation. The motive of this study is to analyze the performance of PMSMs in different rotor designs with different magnet positions. All topologies have been modeled and simulated with ANSYS. Each topology is compared in terms of electromagnetic and mechanical parameters. The 2D model is used to model the distribution of magnetic fields and the performance of operating parameters under transient and steady-state conditions. Magnetic flux, and efficiency are heavily influenced by the rotor shape with the volume of magnet. A study of radial force distribution and mechanical stress across rotor surface is also discussed. Motor performance is affected by the design of PMs.

STUDY ON AUTOMATED DETECTION OF EQUATORIAL PLASMA BUBBLES EPB

A processing application has been developed to detect and characterize localized plasma decreases: Equatorial plasma bubbles. The algorithm used is based on an automated search for negative STEC variations during a GPS satellite passage. First, an example of detection is shown. The method used has been applied to available data from seven (7) stations in West Africa, and the results over several years of measurements are presented. A study of spatial behavior was also carried out. The results show that the location of EPB bubbles depends on magnetic position. Bubbles are more present near the position of the North and South Equatorial Anomaly (EIA) ridges, but exist near the magnetic equator. Beyond 30° of inclination, bubbles are rarely present. The study of EPB characteristics also revealed durations mostly between 10 and 25 min, and maximum depths between 5 and 25 TECU.
