Komunikasi Politik: Strategi Kemenangan Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa Kabupaten Tegal dalam Pemilihan Legislatif Tahun 2024

Political communication plays an important role in political contestation. Political parties must maximize political strategies through party machines run by legislative candidates and political parties. PKB is the incumbent party in Tegal Regency which has a political strategy mission to maintain the most votes and seats. The strong emotional relationship between Nahdliyin and PKB is the key to the success of the political battle. The purpose of this study is to explore the success of the PKB party in maintaining the majority of legislative seats in the DPRD during three election periods. This study uses a qualitative methodology by taking samples from elected DPRD members from the PKB Faction and the Chairperson of the PKB Branch Representative Council of Tegal Regency. Data collection was carried out through interviews with various sources, including PKB DPRD members, leaders of the Tegal Regency National Awakening Party, and related literature reviews. The results of the study revealed that the political communication strategy used by PKB party legislative candidates is in line with the Philih Lesly planning model, characterized by focused organizational activities and the community being the main target of activities.

Analysis Of Political Communication Ahead Of The 2024 Presidential Election Case Studies On Political Campaigns, Political Propaganda, Public Opinion, Marketing, Political Advertising, And Political Negotiation

The 2024 presidential election is an important moment in the political life of a country. This study aims to analyze the role of various aspects of political communsication in the presidential election, including political campaigns, political propaganda, public opinion, political marketing and advertising, and political negotiations. The research methodology uses a holistic approach with quantitative and qualitative data collection through online surveys, interviews, and media content analysis. Key findings highlight the significance of social media in shaping public opinion and the political communication strategies used by candidates. Practical implications of these findings include recommendations for more effective political campaign strategies and the development of more transparent communication policies.

Linguistic Strategies in Political Discourse: Hedges and Boosters in the 2024 US Presidential Debate

This study examines the strategic use of hedges and boosters in the first US presidential debate of June 26, 2024, between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. These linguistic devices are crucial in shaping political discourse by modulating confidence and authority. Hedges introduce ambiguity and caution, while boosters amplify certainty and assertiveness. Using the official debate transcript as the primary data source, this analysis employs a qualitative content analysis to identify and categorize these strategies. It highlights distinct usage patterns: Joe Biden frequently uses hedges to express caution and acknowledge complexities, while Donald Trump relies heavily on boosters to project unwavering confidence and decisiveness. Biden’s strategic use of hedges allows him to navigate contentious issues with a balanced tone, while Trump’s emphasis on boosters strengthens his assertive stance and enhances his perceived authority. This research fills a gap in existing literature by specifically analyzing these linguistic devices within the context of presidential debates. The findings provide insights into how both candidates use hedges and boosters to influence voter perceptions and address rhetorical challenges, contributing to a deeper understanding of political communication strategies and their effects on audience reception.

Hegemony in Political Communication: The Swing Voter Phenomenon in the 2020 Regional Election in Karangasem Regency, Bali

The 2020 Regional Election in Karangasem, Bali was marked by a significant swing voter phenomenon. The incumbent pair Mas Sumatri and Sukerana, predicted by surveys to win with 53.9% against Dana-Dipa with 37.2% during the campaign, actually suffered a crushing defeat with 43.4%, while Dana-Dipa won with 56.6% according to the official results from the Karangasem KPU. Additionally, there was a need to increase political participation, as the Karangasem KPU data showed that out of 377,873 registered voters, only 269,501 exercised their right to vote. This means there were 108,372 voters who did not vote. This research examines the swing voter phenomenon in the 2020 Regional Election in Karangasem by addressing hegemony factors as the cause of swing voters in the 2020 Regional Election in Karangasem, Bali, Indonesia. Data were analyzed using the concept of hegemony. The results of this research are: first, the hegemonic factors of the incumbent's policies causing swing voters and the counter-hegemony by the community against the incumbent government's policies. Second, the political communication strategies of the candidates to minimize swing voters in the 2020 Regional Election in Karangasem.

Political Communication Strategy of Indonesian Republic President Joko Widodo Through Political Diction and Strategic Grammar

This study aims to explore Joko Widodo’s political communication strategy through political diction and strategic grammar. At this point, language is a tool that is full of political interests to gain and maintain power. With a critical paradigm in a qualitative approach, the data are the text of President Joko Widodo’s state speeches in the 2019-2023 period. Data analysis was performed using Fowler’s version of CDA (critical discourse analysis). In the end, the results show that the hidden meanings of using political diction in President Joko Widodo’s speech include embracing political opponents, gathering support, responding to demands, boosting image, growing optimism, and issuing warnings. Apart from that, Joko Widodo in his State of the Union speech also makes use of grammar strategically to highlight positive things or successes by packing them into active sentences and disguising (covering) negative things or failures by packing them into passive sentences. Mengurai Polarisasi Politik di Kalangan Milenial Peran Komunikasi dalam Pemilu

Abstract Political polarization among millennials has become an increasingly prominent challenge in recent years. This generation, which is a significant potential voter in the 2024 Election, is vulnerable to misleading political campaigns, hate speech and false information spread through social media and digital platforms. High levels of polarization can threaten social cohesion and hinder constructive dialogue in the democratic process. This research aims to explore the role of effective political communication and media literacy in unraveling political polarization among millennials in the 2024 elections. By using a mixed method, this research combines quantitative survey methods, qualitative studies with in-depth interviews and focus group discussions, as well as media content analysis to provide a comprehensive picture of this issue. It is hoped that the research results can provide insight into effective political communication strategies, the importance of cross-group dialogue, and the role of media literacy and political education in reducing polarization among millennials. It is hoped that these findings can contribute to efforts to create a healthier and more constructive political environment in the 2024 elections and the democratic process as a whole. Golkar Sidoarjo DPD's Strategy for PIP Scholarship Distribution Campaign

Background: Effective political communication strategies are crucial for enhancing public engagement. Specific Background: This study explores the qualitative communication strategies used by a local political party during the Indonesia Smart Program (PIP) scholarship distribution, contrasting it with quantitative approaches that focus on numerical data. Knowledge Gap: Existing literature lacks insights on how qualitative methods, particularly direct interviews, can inform community engagement and program visibility. Aims: The research aims to analyze DPD Golkar Sidoarjo's communication strategies using primary interviews and secondary campaign materials. Results: Findings show that the party successfully utilized various media to increase visibility and transparency of the PIP, leading to significant community involvement through initiatives like KIPK. Novelty: This study highlights how qualitative approaches can deepen understanding of political communication's impact on community perceptions. Implications: The increased public trust in DPD Golkar Sidoarjo indicates the effectiveness of strategic political communication in influencing electoral outcomes, revealing valuable insights into political engagement dynamics. Inter-Candidate Agenda Setting Effect of the 2018 Mexican Presidential Election: Political Party Candidates Vs. an Inde-pendent Candidate

The 2018 Mexican presidential election marked the initiation of a new political communication dynamic in which traditional electoral communication strategies of political parties were challenged by an independent candidate. This study evaluated this innovative electoral setting by examining Telemundo’s electoral coverage of party-affiliated candidates —Anaya Cortés, Meade Kuribreña, and López Obrador— and the independent candidate —Rodríguez Calderón— through agenda setting theory. The data was collected from Telemundo’s national newscast “Noticias Telemundo” with José Díaz Balart during INE’s official 90-day electoral campaign period. The inter-candidate agenda setting effect regarding the horse race topics was strong among the contenders suggesting that Telemundo’s journalists were disseminating the same information regarding party candidates, but the journalists’ reporting differed when covering the independent candidate. Outcomes indicate that there were two dominant political discussions in Telemundo regarding horse race topics, one emerging from all party candidates and the other one from the independent candidate. The inter-candidate agenda setting effect of issues presented strong correlations among all contenders, suggesting that their policy issues news agendas in Telemundo were nearly identical, which could have made it difficult for voters to distinguish among the candidates’ campaign messages. Overall, Rodríguez Calderón challenged parties’ political communication strategies in terms of horse race topics for his ability to disseminate a distinct campaign message in Telemundo despite having acquired the most negative coverage from journalists. But the independent candidate did not represent an opposition for parties regarding issues because his political rhetoric was not dissimilar from the other contenders.

Through content analysis of campaign messages, this research identifies the main themes, framing strategies, and rhetoric used to influence voter perceptions. The findings of this research have practical implications for designing more effective campaign strategies, increasing more informed voter participation, and contributing new thinking to political literature and political marketing in Indonesia.

This study aims to analyze the political communication strategies used in building a political image. With dynamic changes in the world of politics and media, political communication strategies have become key in shaping public perceptions of political leaders and parties. Qualitative research methods were used to analyze case studies from various political contexts. Key findings highlight the importance of consistent and measurable messages, the use of social media as a key tool in delivering political messages, as well as the strategic role of narratives in influencing public opinion. In addition, identification of the right target audience and adaptation of messages according to their needs are also key elements of a successful political communication strategy. The implications of these findings can help political decision-makers and communication practitioners to be more effective in building and maintaining the desired political image. The development of a more holistic and sustainable political communication strategy can help improve the quality of political dialog, strengthen public participation, and strengthen the overall foundation of democracy.

Exploring Youth's Knowledge, Attitudes, and Readiness Towards Implementation of Undi18 in Batang Padang District, Perak

The amendment to the Federal Constitution in 2019, lowering the voting age from 21 to 18, sparked discussions on the preparedness and maturity of individuals in this age group to participate in elections. Recognizing the necessity for a comprehensive political communication strategy to effectively engage and prepare youth, a structured framework with a defined objective has been developed. This study aims to assess the level of knowledge, attitude, and readiness among youth in the Batang Padang district regarding voting at age 18, and analyse the factors influencing their participation. Using a quantitative approach, the study employs a questionnaire as its primary instrument, gathering responses from a sample of 462 individuals aged 18 to 20 in the Batang Padang district, Perak. The findings reveal a commendable level of knowledge among youth, albeit with a moderate attitude and readiness towards voting. Furthermore, the study identifies motivating factors for youth participation in voting, including personal responsibility, political party influence, peer interactions, the impact of social media influencers, and family influence. This research aims to provide valuable insights and empirical data to stakeholders, aiding in the development of targeted strategies to engage and prepare youth for active participation in the nation's democratic processes.

Politik Pencitraan Partai PDIP Jawa Barat terhadap Ganjar Pranowo dalam Menghadapi Pilpres 2024

This research investigates the political image strategy adopted by the West Java Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) towards a potential figure, Ganjar Pranowo, in facing the 2024 Presidential Election. Based on a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative approach, this research uses a case study method with a focus on data triangulation. Involving in-depth interviews, content analysis and participant observation, the research aims to explore the political dynamics of imagery and its impact on public perception. The results of content analysis highlight political communication strategies, development of popular economic discourse, use of social media, and image construction through political advertising. The findings show the need to increase strategic integration with local values, the effectiveness of social media, and the concretization of community economic programs. While providing an in-depth look at the political image of the West Java PDIP, this research also presents insights that can contribute to the understanding of political strategy at the local and national level.

Verbal and Nonverbal Communication of Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates During the Third and Fourth Debates of the 2024 Election: A Semiotic Analysis by Charles Sanders Peirce

As presidential and vice-presidential candidates seek to capture public attention and understanding, they often employ innovative and creative methods. Both verbal and nonverbal messaging play a crucial role in this process. Therefore, understanding the verbal and nonverbal communication of a potential national leader is essential to prevent future misunderstandings. This study aims to analyze the political verbal and nonverbal communication of presidential (capres) and vice-presidential (cawapres) candidates during the third and fourth debates of the 2024 election using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic analysis. The primary focus of this research is to understand how the concepts of Sign, Object, and Interpretant are used by the candidates to convey their political messages during the debates. The methodology employed is qualitative, utilizing a semiotic analysis approach, which allows the researcher to elucidate the meanings behind the signs and symbols used in political communication. The study finds that the use of certain symbols significantly influences voter perceptions of the candidates. Additionally, the research highlights that signs play a critical role in the effectiveness of political communication, where gestures, facial expressions, and body language enhance the candidates' appeal and credibility in the eyes of the voters. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of more effective political communication strategies in future election campaigns.

Language Politeness of Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates 2024-2029 Period in Campaign Impressions on TikTok Social Media

To attract public attention, presidential and vice-presidential candidates conduct campaign activities as a form of introduction and delivery of their work programs through 'sweet message and promise'. In delivering these messages, intentionally or unintentionally, sometimes the candidates use language that is less polite. This is interesting to study from the aspect of politeness. Therefore, the researchers were interested in examining the language politeness This research was conducted using descriptive research approach. The theory used was Leech's politeness principle. The research data were in the form of expressions containing the maxims of politeness sourced from TikTok social media campaign showed and obtained using documentation techniques with the instrument of documentation study guidelines. Then, the data were processed using the extra lingual pairing method. From the results of the study, it is concluded that the maxim of generosity is the most widely used maxim in the campaign for the election of the president and vice president of Indonesia for the 2024 elections. Through the use of this maxim, candidates try to humble themselves in the hope of gaining public sympathy so as to get a lot of votes and win the contestation. The contemporary context, the specific application of politeness theory to political campaigns on a modern social media platform became the novelty of this study. By pursuing these avenues, future researchers can deepen the understanding of political communication strategies and their effects on the electorate.

Political Communication Strategy in Building Party Image Ahead of the 2024 Legislative Election (Case study of DPD Golkar Party DKI Jakarta)

This research aims to analyze the political communication strategy of the DKI Jakarta Golkar DPD in rebuilding the party's positive image ahead of the 2024 legislative elections. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Golkar DPD, Chair of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Golkar Faction, Deputy Chair for Organizational Affairs and Membership of DPD Golkar, Academics and Community Figures. The data collection techniques used in this research come from primary and secondary data using observation, interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, the data analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation, and the withdrawal of political communication strategies using a political marketing approach carried out by DPD Golkar DKI Jakarta, which was successful in rebuilding the political image that had fallen since the corruption case involving the chairman of the DPD. The implication of the success of this political image is an increase in votes and seats in the results of the 2024 Legislative Election.

Coordinated Meaning Management In The Successful Reconstruction of The New Identity Negotiations of The Anies-Muhaimin Pair In The 2024 General Election In Sidoarjo District

This research focuses on Coordinated Meaning Management (CMM) in successfully reconstructing the Anies-Muhaimin pair's identity negotiations in the 2024 elections in Sidoarjo Regency. The main objective of this research is to explore how the pair's political communication and branding strategies were able to influence and convince voters in Sidoarjo Regency who have a strong culture with NU (Nahdlatul Ulama). The research methodology used primary and secondary data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation based on Creswell's (2007) data collection techniques. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014) approach which includes data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results showed that the communication strategy built by the Anies-Muhaimin pair through cultural approaches, content, speech acts, and interpersonal relationships was able to change the negative stigma against Anies Baswedan. The hierarchy of meaning of CMM theory proved its relevance in the analysis of field strategies to gain Sidoarjo community sympathizers, although the episode variables in this theory did not have a significant impact.

Political Communication Strategy in the 2024 Indonesia’s Presidential Election

In every election, candidates employ various techniques to communicate their mission and vision to their respective voters. Winning an election depends on how good the candidate employs the various tools of communication, using both traditional mass media and social media. This research examines the political communication strategy used by Anies Baswedan during the Indonesian Presidential Election 2024. The objective of this research is to study the political communication style used by Anies Baswedan as a non-party political leader in garnering public support and winning the Presidential Elections. All the other presidential candidates contesting in the election are representing various political parties. All the feeds that were published in his Instagram account during the election were analysed. The analysed data is later triangulated with data from key informants to get an insight on Anies Baswedan’s political thoughts. Data from the Instagram account indicates that his team of communicators employs hashtags, news feed, political ads and visual styles to increase awareness among his voters, in the hope of influencing his voters. The various content published is found to be relevant and significant with the voters but is insufficient to win an election. Although he run initially as a non-political party candidate before gaining endorsement from a political party to run for President, he lost could be due to the lack of political infrastructure support that is needed to ensure his words spread throughout vast Indonesia archipelago. STRATEGI KOMUNIKASI POLITIK KPUD LOMBOK UTARA DALAM MENINGKATKAN PARTISIPASI PEMILIH PADA PEMILU 2024

The North Lombok Regional General Election Commission (KPUD) is a state institution that regulates the implementation of democratic contestation at the regional level of North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara Province. One of the main functions of the regional KPU is to carry out political communication activities to socialize the stages of the General Election (Election) to the public so that people's political participation increases. This study examines how the political communication strategy carried out by The North Lombok Regional General Election Commission (KPUD), from the aspects of Process, planning, messages, political communication media and community participation. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, research data is obtained from various sources. The results of this study show that the process, planning, messaging, and political communication media of The North Lombok Regional General Election Commission (KPUD) in the 2024 election are carried out through political education, the use of cultural facilities, watching tancap screen movies together, through collection and counting simulations at TPS Real. Through the cooperation of local mass media, and the KPU Goes To School program. All of these activities are to awaken, and foster public awareness to go to the Polling Station (TPS).

ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN INDIAN POLITICAL COMMUNICATION: A STUDY OF CORPUS LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS OF POLITICAL NARRATIVE ON TWITTER DURING KARNATAKA ASSEMBLY ELECTION 2023

This study examines the political communication strategies applied during the Karnataka Assembly elections on May 23, 2023, with a specific focus on the Twitter (now X) as a platform. The Karnataka Assembly elections held notable importance for the then ruling Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), as it aimed to consolidate its political influence in southern India in preparation for the upcoming 2024 general elections. The Indian National Congress, as the opposition party, perceived this as a favourable circumstance, as the voters appeared to be divided as a result of the presence of numerous influential local leaders who were not in sync with the ideology of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This study utilises the Corpus linguistic methodology to examine the data obtained from the social media platform, Twitter, where political campaigning has become a significant strategy for achieving political mileage in India. This study conducts an analysis of the tweets shared by significant political actors throughout the campaign season for the Assembly elections, with a focus on examining the precise influence exerted by these tweets on the political discourse. The findings serve to reaffirm the resilience of the Indian democracy, as the electorate has demonstrated their capacity to differentiate and discern between matters of online debate and those that hold local significance. The study provides additional evidence to support the notion that the Twitter platform serves as a virtual space for political expression and the exchange of varied perspectives. However, it is important to note that these expressions and ideas may not necessarily translate into immediate influence on voting behaviour.
