The effects of prenatal and lactational bisphenol A and/or di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate exposure on female reproductive system

Bisphenol A (BPA) and di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) are endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) that are abundantly used in polyvinyl chloride plastics, polycarbonates and epoxy resins. Prenatal and early postnatal exposures to EDCs are suggested to be more critical. Such exposures can lead to reprotoxic effects, hormonal and metabolic consequences in adulthood. Moreover, combined exposure to different EDCs can lead to more serious adverse effects, some of which cannot be predicted by examining their individual toxicity profiles. This study aimed to evaluate effects of single and combined prenatal and lactational exposures to BPA and/or DEHP on female reproductive hormones and ovarian follicle development. Pregnant Sprague-Dawley rats were divided randomly to four groups (n = 3/group): Control (received vehicle only); DEHP (30 mg/kg/day); BPA (50 mg/kg/day) and BPA + DEHP (30 mg/kg/day DEHP; 50 mg/kg/day BPA) through 6–21 gestational days and lactation by intra-gastric lavage. Female offspring (n = 6/group) were fed until the end of twelfth postnatal week and then euthanized. Reproductive hormones, ovarian follicle numbers and ovarian development were determined. Plasma testosterone and estradiol levels of BPA and BPA + DEHP groups were significantly lower than control. In BPA group, the number of tertiary ovarian follicles decreased significantly compared to control. In the combined exposure group, the number of corpus luteum (29%), as well as the number of primordial follicles (36%), showed marked decreases compared to control group. It can be suggested that early life exposure to BPA and DEHP may cause late life adverse effects in female reproductive system, especially after combined exposure.

Natural Weathering of Plasticized Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Stabilized with Epoxidized Sunflower Oil

The aim of this work is to study the influence of the weathering conditions on the degradation level of stabilized PVC. Epoxidized Sunflower oil (ESO) was used as a new biodegradable stabilizer for PVC. Flexible plasticized formulations (40% plasticizer) were realized, the natural weathering of the PVC samples was investigated. The samples were exposed in Tizi Ouzou (Algeria) for nine months. The samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy in order to follow the structural changes. Moreover, the variation of the mass of the samples, the variation of density and mechanical properties (tensile and shore D hardness) were taken into account. Samples were characterized in terms of morphology by SEM. The best results were obtained with the formulation containing DINA and ESO compared to the traditional formulation containing DOP and ESO.

New SPME-based method for on-site measurement of gas-phase concentration of phthalates and alternatives at the surface of PVC floorings

Phthalates are part of the semi-volatile organic compounds. They are widely used as plasticizers in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) floorings and are ubiquitous indoor pollutants. Some of them are even classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, reprotoxic (CMR), and as we spend more time indoors, it is necessary to develop methods to assess emission strength of indoor materials. One of the key parameters to measure this potential is the concentration at the source material surface (y0). To measure directly this parameter, an in-situ sampling method using solid-phase microextraction (SPME) into an emission cell was developed. The main challenge with this method is calibration. Firstly, based on the headspace analysis of seven floorings, four samples were identified as sources of diisobutyl phthalate (DiBP), dibutyl terephthalate (DBTP) and benzoate esters. Secondly, an atmosphere generation system using a flooring sample as source of compounds and coupled with an active sampling with Tenax tubes was developed to perform an external calibration of the SPME based-MOSEC cell method suitable for y0 measurement. Calibration curves were set up on a wide range of exposure doses extending up to 96 µg min/m3 for DiBP and 184 µg min/m3 for DBTP. Low detection limits, 0.46 µg/m3 for DiBP and 1.50 µg/m3 for DBTP were determined considering an extraction time of 15 min. The principal limitation in the sampling conditions was identified as the 288 h required to reach steady state in the emission cell before the extraction step. Finally, y0 measured at the surface of PVC floorings ranged from 2.2 to 5.5 µg/m3 for DiBP and from 6.1 to 13.5 µg/m3 for DBTP.

Emotion-interactive empathetic transparent skin cushion with tailored frequency-dependent hydrogel–plasticized nonionic polyvinyl chloride interconnections

Using a smart polymeric material, we design a transparent and stretchable empathetic haptic skin cushion that secretly allows a target device to understand users’ emotions. The skin comprises highly transparent and stretchable conducting hydrogels and a plasticized nonionic polyvinyl chloride (PNIPVC) whose dielectric, electrical, optical, and mechanical properties are adjusted by the type, ratio, and concentration of the dual-plasticizers. Hydrogels adhere strongly to the upper and lower surfaces of the PNIPVC via covalent bonding to form durable, reliable, and sensitive empathetic skin. The skin exhibits excellent transparency and stretchability with low mechanical hysteresis. In addition, the skin senses the capacitance or resistance of the PNIPVC by varying its operating frequency, which enables the perception of various external pressures for detecting emotional touches (tapping, patting, stretching, pinching, and twisting). Thus, the skisn cushion can be used as a new tactile emotional interface system for future emotion-interactive shape-deformable materials and devices.

From polyvinyl chloride waste to activated carbons: the role of occurring additives on porosity development and gas adsorption properties

Conversion of waste plastic to carbon materials has been considered as a potential approach for plastic recycling. In this study, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic, one of the most widely used polymers, was used as a single precursor to prepare porous carbons via chemical activation process. The results showed that KOH activation followed by acid washing was an effective strategy to recover all calcium- and up to 92% of titanium-based compounds, the main metal additives in PVC, in the form of soluble salt. Those metal additives in PVC acted as a type of hard template, which benefit the development of microporosity and carbon dioxide (CO2) adsorption. Textural characterization demonstrated that the prepared carbons possessed high surface area and pore volume of up to 2507 m2/g and 1.11 cm3/g, respectively. At 0 °C and 100 kPa, the PVC-derived carbon, PH_73, which has highest ultra-micropore volume among all samples, exhibited excellent CO2 adsorption capacity of 6.90 mmol/g and high CO2/N2 selectivity. Converting the non-degradable PVC into high-quality porous carbon materials could be considered as a potential strategy for plastic waste recycling.

Life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions and the associated carbon-peak strategies for PS, PVC, and ABS plastics in China

The plastic industry is a high carbon emission industry in China. Previous studies mainly focused on the flows and stocks of polystyrene (PS), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plastics. However, there is limited detailed information on the GHG emissions of PS, PVC, and ABS in China and the key paths of carbon peak in 2030. Therefore, we established the GHG accounting model of PS, PVC, and ABS based on dynamic material flow analysis and life cycle assessment, and further analyzed the carbon peak path and strategy in 2030. The results show that the main source of GHG is the production and manufacturing stages. Notably, the key paths of GHG emissions are the manufacturing process of PS STP&C and foam plastics, PVC film and STP&C, and ABS STP&C. Moreover, the cumulative GHG emissions of these plastics reached 230.34, 677.43, 143.12 Tg CO2e in 2007-2017, respectively. From 2007 to 2017, the trends of GHG emissions from the PS, PVC, and ABS had their characteristics. PVC had the largest GHG emissions. Different from PVC and ABS, GHG emissions from PS showed a trend of slow rise and then slow decline in this period. According to the current trend, the life-cycle GHG emissions of PS, PVC, and ABS would not reach the carbon peak in 2030. Under some mitigation strategies, the carbon peak would be achieved before 2030. This study clarifies the main sources of life-cycle GHG emissions of these plastics, and reveals the path and strategy of carbon peak in 2030.

Synthesis of Biomass Based Plasticizer from Linoleic Acid and Cardanol for Preparing Durable PVC Material

In this paper, we synthesized a kind of bio-based plasticizer epoxidized linoleic acid cardanol ester (ELCE) from cardanol and linoleic acid. Its chemical structure was characterized with FT-IR and 1H NMR. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) blends plasticized with ELCE were prepared via thermoplastic blending with torque rheometer. The performance including torque, mechanical property, thermal stability, plasticizing property and migration resistance of plasticized PVC blends were investigated and compared with plasticized PVC blends with commercial plasticizer dioctyl phthalate (DOP). The results showed that ELCE improved thermal stability of PVC blends. ELCE played more excellent plasticizing effect on PVC blends than DOP. The better solvent extraction resistance and volatile resistance of ELCE make it possible to completely replace DOP in PVC products.

Perchlorate Solid-Contact Ion-Selective Electrode Based on Dodecabenzylbambus[6]uril

Dodecabenzylbambus[6]uril (Bn12BU[6]) is an anion receptor that binds the perchlorate ion the most tightly (stability constant ~1010 M−1) of all anions due to the excellent match between the ion size in relation to the receptor cavity. This new bambusuril compound was used as an ionophore in the ion-selective membrane (ISM) to develop ion selective electrodes (ISEs) for determination of perchlorate concentration utilizing the poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) polymer film as a solid-contact material. Variation of the content of Bn12BU[6] and tridodecylmethylammonium chloride (TDMACl) in the plasticized poly(vinyl chloride)-based ISM was also tested. All the prepared solid-contact ISEs and their analytical performance were characterized by potentiometry, cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and chronopotentiometry. The ISEs showed rapid response and a sub-Nernstian slope (~57 mV/decade) during potentiometric measurements in perchlorate solutions in the concentration range from 10−1 to 10−6 M simultaneously with their high stability and sufficient selectivity to other common inorganic anions like bromide, chloride, nitrate and sulphate. The function of the ISE was further verified by analysis of real water samples (lake, sea, and mineral water), which gave accurate and precise results.

Co-hydrothermal dechlorination of PVC plastic and bagasse: Hydrochar combustion characteristics and gas emission behavior

Hydrothermal treatment (HTT) of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) can efficiently remove chlorine (Cl) to produce low Cl hydrochar for solid fuel. This work performed co-hydrothermal treatment of PVC recycled plastics (PVCR) with biomass, then tried to reveal the combustion behavior and Cl migration behavior during combustion of PVC-derived hydrochar. It is shown that the hydrothermal temperature was the dominant factor affecting the degradation and dechlorination of PVCR. Treated at 220 ℃ for 60 min, the dechlorination efficiency of PVCR was 4.88 wt% and it was significantly increased to 34.09 wt%, 28.60 wt% and 32.50 wt% when PVCR was co-treated with bagasse, bagasse + high impact polystyrene (HIPS) and bagasse + acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), respectively. The substitution of Cl by hydroxyl (-OH) and elimination were two main dechlorination pathways. Bagasse could provide abundant -OH so as to promote the dechlorination of PVCR. Interestingly, in the combustion of PVCR and hydrochars, the Cl was mainly released in the form of HCl at lower temperature combustion stage but C-Cl mostly emitted at higher temperature combustion stage. The emitted Cl species strongly depends on the Cl content in hydrochar and combustion temperature, but did not show relevance to the existence form of Cl in hydrochar. Hydrothermal dechlorination could sharply reduce HCl emission.

Preparation and characterization of plasticized polyvinyl chloride composite film based on photochromic intelligent cooling

AbstractIndoor temperature adjustment to maintain a relatively comfortable living environment has resulted in different cooling strategies. Often, these strategies are energy consuming as well as energy wasting because of the complex and changing environment. Materials development to achieve intelligent adjustment of indoor temperature through efficient and energy‐saving methods is essential. Here, we present a strategy to prepare polyvinyl chloride (PVC)/photochromic powders cooling films. By adding different colors of photochromic powders to PVC substrate and utilizing their properties of changing color and light transmittance according to sunlight intensity to achieve the intelligent cooling effect. The indoor sunlight simulation test indicates that the PVC/red photochromic powders composite film possesses the best cooling performance under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation, and the maximum cooling range is about 10°C compared with the control sample, meanwhile the maximum cooling effect is only 2–3°C without UV irradiation. The PVC/red photochromic powders composite film also shows the best cooling effect (6°C) in the outdoor solar irradiation test with strong sunlight, and all films did not exhibit an obvious cooling effect under weak sunlight. Meanwhile, PVC/photochromic powders composite films also solve the shortcoming of the single color of traditional cooling films, which can better meet the demand of people for color diversity. In addition, the stable mechanical properties of PVC/photochromic powders composite films also give it great application value. Therefore, PVC/photochromic powders composite films can provide a promising energy‐saving solution for future intelligent adjustment of indoor temperature.

Comparison of the Characteristics of Intubation Airway Barrier Devices Using a Simulated Airway Task Trainer.

Background: With the advent of variant strains such as Delta and Omicron, there have been renewed concerns regarding transmission of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) (coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)) disease to healthcare professionals, particularly during intubation procedures. Several forms of barrier protection aimed at decreasing the spread of aerosolized droplets were developed during the early onset of the pandemic.Objectives: Using a simulated airway model, we examined the impact that three separate barrier devices had on intubation time and success using both direct and video laryngoscopy. We hypothesized that the functionally simplistic devices would be preferred and would allow for faster intubations.Methods: Just-in-time training sessions focusing on COVID-19 intubations were set up between March and June of 2020. Sixty-seven emergency physicians and anesthesiologists participated. For a subset of physicians, exact times to barrier device setup and both direct and indirect intubations using three different barrier devices were recorded. Subsequently, physicians were asked to fill out a survey regarding their experiences.Results: The survey response rate was 60%. In general, this cohort preferred a plain clear plastic drape or clear plastic drape with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) cube for direct laryngoscopy and video laryngoscopy setups. The use of these two devices resulted in significantly faster times to completed intubation when compared with the fiberglass box while using a simulated task trainer.Conclusion: In general, a simple, plastic sheet was the preferred barrier device using video laryngoscopy. Although setup times were faster using the fiberglass box, intubation times were significantly faster using the plastic drape or PVC frame.

Synthesis and evaluation of N,N-dibutylundecenamide as new eco-friendly plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride

Tertiary fatty amide, namely N,N-dibutylundecenamide (DBUA), has been synthesized and evaluated as potential plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Homogeneous PVC/DBUA composite films containing 20, 30 and 40 wt% of DBUA were prepared by solvent casting. Infrared analysis of PVC/DBUA blends indicated molecular interactions between polar –CH–Cl group of PVC and carbonyl group of tertiary amide. According to results of mechanical testing, PVC/DBUA films containing 30 and 40% of DBUA have significantly increased elasticity with reduced Young’s modulus of over 90%, as well as increased elongation at break of approximately 130% compared with neat polymer. Good plasticizing efficacy of DBUA toward PVC has also been revealed by differential scanning calorimetry analysis. Thus, the introduction of DBUA (20% and 30%) into PVC significantly reduced its glass transition temperature by 64.8 and 91.4 °C, respectively. The results of thermal gravimetric analysis revealed reduced thermal stability of PVC/DBUA blends compared to neat PVC, as well as polymer compositions containing common plasticizer bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (BEHP). However, the thermal degradation point of plasticized material (217 ºC) still remained higher than the actual temperature of its processing by common methods. DBUA plasticizer was also found to have higher volatility, but better resistance to migration from PVC films, compared to PVC/BEHP blends. The biodegradability of DBUA determined by primary biodegradation test CEC L-33-A93 was found to be 92.6% after 21 days. Overall, the obtained results indicate that tertiary fatty amide DBUA is promising eco-friendly plasticizer for PVC which combines good low-temperature performance, high biodegradability, as well as resistance to migration from polymer matrix.

Synthesis, characterization and thermal behavior of plasticized poly (vinyl chloride) doped with folic acid-modified titanium dioxide

To inhibit the agglomeration of nanotitanium dioxide, a poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) composite film doped with folic acid-modified titanium dioxide was synthesized and characterized using X-ray powder diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis coupled with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The average grain size of the folic acid-modified titanium dioxide was found to decrease by 1.3 nm, indicating that the cohesiveness of the nanoparticles is decreased. The lowest temperature for 1.0% thermal decomposition of PVC was determined to be 230.0 °C. The decomposition rate at the peak temperature is found to be 39.6% lower than that of a control sample. The stability of the PVC is improved due to a lower number of surface chlorine atoms as well intermolecular attraction. A mechanism for folic acid modification of titanium dioxide-doped PVC is proposed. After doping, the ester groups in the plasticizer show a significant decrease in the vibration peak intensities observed at 1264 cm−1, 1736 cm−1 and 1106 cm−1. The doped PVC film suppresses the release of CO2, and the strongest vibration peak at 1264 cm−1 is found to be 17.2% lower than that for the blank sample, indicating that doping is beneficial for plasticizer recovery.

Dibutyltin dichloride exposure affects mouse oocyte quality by inducing spindle defects and mitochondria dysfunction

Dibutyltin dichloride (DBTCl) is a widespread environmental pollutant that is frequently employed as a light and heat sustainer for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastics and is a teratogen in vivo. Nevertheless, its destructiveness in mammalian oocytes remains unclear. This study highlighted the consequences of DBTCl vulnerability on mouse oocyte. Our results revealed that exposure to 5.0 mg/kg/day of DBTCl for ten days reduced the number of mature follicles and oocytes in the ovaries and inhibited the meiotic maturation of oocytes. Single-cell transcriptomic analysis indicated that DBTCl exposure interfered with the expression of more than 400 genes in oocytes, including those involved in multiple biological pathways. Specifically, DBTCl exposure impaired spindle assembly and chromosome alignment. In addition, DBTCl exposure caused mitochondrial dysfunction, which led to the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and induced apoptosis. In summary, our study illustrates that mitochondrial dysfunction and redox perturbation are the major causes of the reduced quality of oocytes exposed to DBTCl.

Ex Vivo Model to Assess the Exposure of Patients to Plasticizers from Medical Devices during Pre-CAR-T Cells' Apheresis.

Background: The treatment of relapsed or refractory leukemia remains a major problem. Among the new therapeutic approaches, the use of modified T lymphocytes, called chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR-T cells), seems promising. The first step of their preparation is leukapheresis, which involves the collection of mononuclear cells from the patient. This medical procedure requires numerous medical devices (MDs) made of plasticized polyvinylchloride (PVC). These compounds can leach out of the devices during contact with the patient’s blood. The aim of our study was to evaluate the migration of the plasticizers contained in the MD during a simulated pre-CAR-T cell leukapheresis procedure, and to measure the patient’s and their lymphocytes’ exposure to them. Methods: The qualitative and quantitative composition of the MD used for pre-CAR-T cell apheresis was determined by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Then, an ex vivo leukapheresis model using an ethanol/water simulant was performed to evaluate the plasticizers’ migration under simulated clinical conditions of pre-CAR-T cells’ cytapheresis. The plasticizers released into the simulant were quantified by GC–MS. Results: Diethylhexylphthalate (DEHP) was found in the apheresis kit, with amounts ranging from 25% to 59% (g/100 g of PVC). Bis(2-ethylhexyl) adipate was detected at trace levels. A total of 98.90 ± 11.42 mg of DEHP was released into the simulant, corresponding to an exposure dose of 1.4 mg/kg for a 70 kg patient. Conclusions: Patients undergoing a pre-CAR-T cell apheresis are mainly exposed to DEHP, which can impact their health because of its endocrine disruption effect, but could also lead to a decrease in CAR-T cells’ efficiency/quality.

Preventive Conservation, Treatment, and Technical Study of Plasticized Poly(vinyl chloride) Multiples by Joseph Beuys

ABSTRACT Works of art made of plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) present unique and pressing conservation challenges. Due to inherently unstable formulations, PVC can deteriorate rapidly, producing dramatic alterations that were unanticipated by artists and collectors. This is the case for three works by Joseph Beuys with PVC components in the Harvard Art Museums’ collection: Phosphorus-Cross Sled, Postcards 1968–1974, and Stamp Sculpture. Over the course of the last two decades, exudation of liquid plasticizer and progressive discoloration of the PVC was observed and appeared to be worsening with time. This paper presents the results of research undertaken since 2012 to develop storage and display guidelines that will slow the deterioration and improve the accessibility of these works. The three objects under study are all multiples, meaning that they were released in editions, which are now dispersed across numerous museums and private collections. Analysis using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS, with and without pyrolysis) and scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX) spectroscopy has identified variability in the PVC formulation and exudate across different multiples, suggesting that they may derive from different manufacturing batches. Experimental testing of PVC material from Beuys’s studio has shown that sealed Mylar enclosures and storage at temperatures between 4.4 and 12.8 °C are effective in slowing the migration of plasticizer to the surface. After implementing these changes to the housing and storage of the PVC postcard from Postcards 1968–1974, reabsorption of plasticizer exudate was observed, demonstrating that reversal of the plasticizer migration is possible under these conditions.

Evaluation of portable vibrational spectroscopy for identifying plasticizers in dairy tubing

ABSTRACT Plasticisers are commonly used to increase the flexibility of a wide variety of food contact materials including the plastic tubing, liners, and gaskets used in the dairy industry. In recent years, some classes of plasticisers have come under scrutiny due to the potential for transfer of these compounds into the milk itself, which can then be further processed into foods such as powdered milks and cheeses, infant formula, and baked goods. One such set of plasticisers that is being evaluated for frequency of use, potential routes of exposure, and risk to consumers is ortho-phthalates, hereafter referred to as phthalates. In order to better understand the actual use of phthalate versus non-phthalate plasticised tubing, a robust, rapid, and portable analytical method is necessary for on-site screening. Laboratory Raman and near-infrared spectrometers have been used extensively for polymer and additive evaluation, and advances in portable/hand-held technology could lead to feasible plasticiser evaluation in the field. This research overviews efforts to evaluate six portable spectroscopy devices for their ability to identify phthalate versus non-phthalate plasticised polyvinyl chloride (PVC) dairy tubing, liners, and gaskets. The most successful method, a hand-held Raman spectrometer along with a plasticiser spectral library or a chemometric model, can rapidly and accurately identify phthalate containing PVC and has the potential to be employed as a future field screening technique for regulators and the dairy industry.

Rheological behaviors of plasticized polyvinyl chloride thermally conductive composites with oriented flaky fillers: A case study on graphite and mica

AbstractIn this study, two oriented flaky fillers in plasticized polyvinyl chloride (P‐PVC) matrix were respectively compared on some rheological behaviors such as dynamic rheological behavior, melt flow rate, and Barus effect. By comparing and analyzing the rheological behaviors and thermal conductivity of P‐PVC/graphite and P‐PVC/mica composites with oriented fillers, it is found that the P‐PVC/graphite composites have obvious percolation thresholds of viscosity, modulus and thermal conductivity at 23.6 vol%. However, P‐PVC/mica composites did not show similar phenomenon. Moreover, the variable parameter K′ in the modified Kerner–Nielson equation was used to relate the rheological behavior, percolation concentration and thermal conductivity of the composites, and the formation of the filler network was analyzed through the rheological behavior to explain the influence of the percolation threshold in the composites caused by the change of internal structure on the thermal conductivity. It has important guiding significance for the mechanism research and comprehensive performance improvement of the filled composites.

Dehydrochlorination study of plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) contianing modified titanium dioxide, cerium stearate, organotin and β-diketone complex after long-term storage

Understanding the influence of additives on the dehydrochlorination of plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) from the source and long-term storage is an attractive topic. In this work, the effects of folic acid modified nano titanium dioxide (FANT), cerium stearate, organotin and β -diketone compound additives on the dehydrochlorination of plasticized PVC and long-term storage were investigated using conductivity measurements. The results showed that the induction time of hydrogen chloride removal of plasticized PVC (C-1) containing composite stabilizer at 200 °C were 243% higher than those of the control (S1). After storage, the heat stability of the control decreased significantly. Instead, the induction time and stability time of plasticized PVC containing FANT, cerium stearate, organotin and β- diketone composites were significantly enhanced at 200 °C. The thermal stability sequence from difficult to easy for removal of hydrogen chloride was : 3.0 phr (1.90% wt) (C2) >1.0 phr (0.64% wt) (C1) > 5.0 phr (3.17% wt) (C3) with FANT. It is inferred that this is due to the FANT’s hydrogen bonding van der Waals force and the complexation reaction of variable valence metal Ce+3/Ce+4 with C-Cl bond in PVC polymer molecule. The induction time (min) of hydrogen chloride removal at 200 °C before and after storage is as follows: C-20 (71.9) > C-10 (70.6) > C-1 (60.7) > C-3 (57.2) > C-30 (52.7) > C-2 (49.9) > S1 (25.3) > S10 (19.7). The critical temperature for hydrogen chloride removal by the composite film is around 210 °C. If the content of FANT increased to 3.17%, the intermolecular force and repulsive force in PVC system offset each other, indicating that the increase of FANT content will lead to the increase of repulsive force with PVC. A certain amount of FANT, cerium stearate, organotin and β- diketone composites has a significant synergistic effect on the thermal stability of PVC.
