Taxonomy of Patience in Sixteenth-century Florentine Political Thought

This article examines the concept of pazienza present in the writings of Machiavelli and Guicciardini. It turned out that it is closely related to key concepts for their considerations, such as Fortune, Time or Opportunity, and is classified and valued by them in social interaction within the political hierarchy. In Machiavelli, the term pazienza is an expression of patient enduring of an inconvenient situation, which should be assessed positively or negatively depending on who is patient and in what circumstances. In the context of social relations, Machiavelli perceives the effects of patience rather negatively, because for him it is mainly an expression of weakness, leading to or resulting from the loss of political position. For Guicciardini, patience means the ability to endure adversity, but also the ability to wait for the right moment to take action. Guicciardini emphasizes the ambivalent meaning of patience, which, on the one hand, is passive bearing of someone else’s will, and on the other, as an expression of understanding the situation, turns out to be necessary when concluding alliances, negotiations and conducting military activities, i.e. it is simply indispensable in socio-political life, because it promotes implementation of plans, but also limits the use of violence.

Addressing Challenges of Implementing Community First Responder Models based on National and International Experiences: A Systematic Scoping Review

Background: This systematic scoping review aimed to investigate and delineate the dimensions of the Community First Responder (CFR) model implemented in emergency medical services (EMS) across different countries. The primary focus was on identifying key components and characteristics associated with CFR programs. Methods: This study conducted an extensive search across multiple databases (PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science) and grey literature sources (Google Scholar, official sites) until Mar 2023 using keywords related to community first responders. Initially, 14,135 articles were found. After removing duplicates and similar titles, 37 articles were reviewed. The analysis covered training, motivation, public awareness, emotional support for responders, coordination with ambulance staff, program development, and the impact on patient outcomes. Results: This review revealed key dimensions and components common to CFR models worldwide. Notable findings included insights into the significance of training, the motivating factors for individuals joining CFR groups, public awareness regarding the role of CFRs, the importance of emotional support for CFRs, effective coordination with ambulance staff, development requirements of CFR programs, and the consequential effects of plan implementation on patient outcomes. Conclusion: This systematic scoping review offers valuable insights into CFR models worldwide, enhancing understanding of their effectiveness, challenges, and capabilities. Its recommendations can influence policy, guide future research, and strengthen CFRs' contributions to emergency medical services.

Practical Approach to Enhance Energy Resilience in Manufacturing Facilities

ABSTRACTBoth developed and developing countries are affected by the global energy problem. Over the last few decades, the industrial sector's electrical energy demand has grown exponentially, altering the supply‐and‐demand balance. The trend toward Industry 4.0 compliant production facilities necessitates a greater demand for high‐reliability power. Because severe production losses caused by power outages cannot be tolerated, an increasing number of large vital industrial processes integrate centralized high‐quality, online UPS technology onto their network to establish a grid‐to‐load link and continuously condition dirty electricity from the national grid. These facilities distribute electrical power using either an MV or LV system. Based on the integration design, investigating ways to quantify energy efficiency savings of MV versus LV UPS system is required. This paper proposes strategic and technical interventions for these systems and assesses their electrical losses and budgetary ramifications. The paper also aims to contribute to the implementation of an energy efficiency plan and help facilities close power efficiency gaps. From the results obtained, the MV UPS system offers a significant reduction in energy consumption. Compared to the LV UPS system, annual energy losses are reduced by 46% at a load factor of 65%. A significant energy improvement is expected at higher load factors and in larger facilities where longer distribution cables are used. Compared to the LV UPS system, MV UPS saves R221 509 per meter of cable length increase and R31 457 per percentage increase in load factor.

Strengthening Critical Thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Ethical Behavior, and Professional Commitment to Enhance Teacher Performance in Implementing the Independent Curriculum

The teacher's task in the independent learning curriculum was to prepare a learning implementation plan, compile material, prepare assessments, ensure changes in student behavior, and carry out evaluations. However, 52% of students visited by researchers received grades below standard. The article was to determine the obstacles and difficulties teachers that have in implementing the Independent Learning Curriculum. The researchers used mixed methods approach. The respondents in this research were 66 teachers. Data collection techniques used surveys with instruments that have been developed. This instrument was assessed on a Likert scale of 1 to 5 points. Data collection used observation, interviews with 10 teachers, and documents related to research indicators. Analysis data technique used SPSS Version 25.0. Then data from observations, interviews and documentation were collected, reduced, coded, diversified and conclusions drawn. As a result, it was found that the learning implementation plan was incomplete, the teacher did not prepare the material himself, and the assessment method was not yet structured. It was also found that teachers lacked mastery of the material. From the survey it was found that 62.87% of teachers' learning implementation plans did not comply with implementation, 68.53% of teachers lacked mastery of the material, there were 72.10%, there were 56.92% changes in behavior and 54.20% did not evaluate learning

Template of a climate sustainability plan for medical professional organizations: the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology example

Abstract Environmental change is underway and has the potential to adversely affect digestive health. Professional medical organizations have an important role to play in addressing the challenge. An important initial response is the development of a sustainability plan for the medical organization. There are no standardized criteria as to what should be included in such a plan. We have proposed 12 key components that should be contained in sustainability plans for medical organizations. We describe how these were developed for the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG) and plans for future implementation. We hope that the CAG plan may serve as a template to assist peer medical organizations optimize their response to the climate crisis.

Pengembangan E-LKPD Berbasis Problem Based Learning pada Materi Sistem Pernapasan Manusia untuk Meningkatkan Pola Berpikir Kritis Siswa SMA Negeri 5 Kota Tanjung Balai

Learning is a system consisting of several interrelated components (goals, materials, methods, learning evaluation). These components must be adjusted in the process of making a learning implementation plan. Students are guided to build their knowledge independently so that they can easily master the material obtained at school and then apply their knowledge in real life. This research aims to develop an Electronic Student Worksheet (E-LKPD) based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) on the human respiratory system, with a focus on improving students' critical thinking patterns at SMA Negeri 5 Tanjung Balai City. The method used in this research is the 4-D model developed by Thiagarajan, which consists of four stages: Define, Design, Develop, and Dissemination. The research results showed that the developed E-LKPD received a very good feasibility assessment, with a percentage of 96.8% from material experts, 96.25% from media experts, and 96.6% from practitioner experts. From these results, it can be concluded that the PBL-based E-LKPD developed is valid, practical and effective for use in the learning process. It is hoped that this e-LKPD can increase student learning activities and help teachers convey material in a more interesting and interactive way.

Diagnostic, analysis and management of the routes of a Distribution Center of a dairy producer in the State of Mexico

Distribution Centers are an important part of an organization, since the goal of this area is to ensure that products reach their destination in a timely manner. In the case of the dairy producing company, one of its distribution programs was diagnosed, analyzed and managed due to the decrease in efficiency. The status of the project was diagnosed as a priority, and the strengths and areas of opportunity were identified. Subsequently, an analysis of the first ten critical paths with the lowest indicator was carried out. The implementation of quality tools and methodologies continued to identify the main causes and the root cause of low effectiveness. Likewise, efforts were made to increase the indicator and reach its minimum standard. In addition to a final evaluation of the results obtained after the implementation of the preestablished countermeasure plan.

Co-designing a physical activity intervention for low-income mothers of preschool-aged children with community leaders: a qualitative study

BackgroundYoung children from low-income families experience disparities in school readiness that impact short and long-term health. Family physical activity co-participation is an interactive activity that may promote positive health and academic outcomes. The purpose of this study is to describe the process and outcomes of engaging with community leaders to co-design the Families Moving Together intervention for low-income mothers and their preschool-aged children.MethodsFive action planning sessions were conducted with community leaders, experts in physical activity, early learning, or engaging low-income families (i.e., families receiving housing assistance). The PRACTical planning for Implementation and Scale-up (PRACTIS) guide provided a framework for each session to address implementation and sustainability barriers and facilitators. Qualitative data were analyzed using the Framework Analysis method with inductive and deductive coding.ResultsAction planning participants (N = 19) were aged 50 ± 13.4 years, mostly female (89%), and worked across several community organizations serving low-income mothers and children in an urban city in central Kentucky. Three core themes were identified from analyzing the transcripts. First, participants held shared values, such as respect and equity, that informed the intervention design process. Second, these core values provided a foundation for creating collaborative and sustainable solutions to achieve outcomes. Finally, participants described program design elements to remove barriers and increase facilitators. Through the action planning process, participants co-designed the core components of Families Moving Together, which included leading free family movement programs in the community and engaging trusted community members to deliver the intervention. The goal of this 6-month community-level intervention is to increase school readiness and health by engaging families in physical activity together.ConclusionsCommunity experts and the research team used the PRACTIS guide to co-design strategies to increase physical activity and school readiness that they perceived would enhance the likelihood of implementation and sustainability in the community. Participants underscored the importance of the co-design process that centers community representation and collaborative approaches to create, implement, and sustain programs in the local community. Researchers and community leaders serving low-income mothers and children in other settings may be able to replicate the action planning process to facilitate equitable health outcomes.

Educational needs for nursing manager competency in Korean hospitals: multi-center cross-sectional study

BackgroundNursing managers have a critical responsibility for high-quality care, nursing staff support, and business operations for hospital outcomes. As the healthcare environment has changed, the role of nursing managers and the competencies required have evolved. This study aims to assess the educational needs for nursing management competency among 155 nursing managers in one tertiary and six general hospitals in South Korea.MethodsData were collected from April 1 to May 20, 2023, using self-reported questionnaires. The Borich needs assessment and locus for focus model were used to analyze educational needs.ResultsThe results revealed that key components in the administrative manager (ensuring a safe working environment) and leader (fostering a positive workplace atmosphere) domains were most important. The lowest-scored item for performance was “Completing education to enhance competency as a manager and participating in external activities” in the educator domain. The most difficult item was “Allocation of appropriate nursing staff based on nursing requirements and adjustment of tasks” in the administrative manager domain. The top-priority items in administrative manager competencies were “Allocation of appropriate nursing staff based on nursing requirements, and adjustment of tasks” and “Development and implementation of plans for securing resources (staff, equipment, space, budget, etc.) necessary for nursing tasks.”ConclusionsThese findings underscore the necessity for nursing organizations to provide specialized training modules that address the identified needs, especially focusing on human resource management skills, the allocation of nursing staff, and resource acquisition and management for nursing managers. Furthermore, nursing organizations should support ongoing education and professional development activities through recognition, financial support, or career progression opportunities.

Training and Mentoring Strengthening Literacy and Numeracy in Recovery Learning in Musi Banyuasin Regency

They are strengthening training and mentoring​​​ literacy and numeracy in Musi Banyuasin Regency through training and mentoring for Principals and Vice Curriculum in Junior High Schools (SMP). Based on the results of the National Assessment and the Program for International Students Assessment (PISA) 2022, post-pandemic learning recovery is essential in Indonesia, especially in improving student literacy and numeracy. This activity aims to strengthen participants' understanding and competence in designing and implementing learning that integrates literacy and numeracy by the Merdeka Curriculum. The methods used in this activity include counselling, intensive training, and assistance in designing learning tools, such as Learning Implementation Plans (RPP), learning media, and assessments. The activity also includes evaluation through pretests and posttests to measure changes in participant understanding. The results show significant improvement in literacy and numeracy understanding, with the average posttest score of participants increasing from 50 to 70. The evaluation results showed high satisfaction from participants with the material provided and its relevance to needs in the field. This activity strengthened collaboration between education managers and learning communities and positively impacted the recovery of education quality in Musi Banyuasin Regency post-pandemic. Hopefully, this activity can be sustainable in improving literacy and numeracy at the junior high school level.

Teaching the Nursing Process-Based Care Plan in Turkey

The nursing process is a systematic, rational method of planning and providing individualized nursing care. Nursing theorists first offered planning nursing care with the nursing process approach in 1958. From this time, it has been taught in nursing schools and has been the cornerstone of nursing care delivery. The nursing process based care plan implementation provides an organizing framework for the practice of nursing, and standardized, holistic, patient-centered care, as well as record and assess the efficacy of that care. But its success depends largely on how well it is taught. When examined from this aspect, the findings of the studies indicate that nurses and nursing students still need to fully understand the Nursing Process in order to create a good care plan with the nursing process. The purpose of this paper, from the perspective of teaching methods, is to discuss the factors that limit students' learning of the nursing process approach and care plan preparation skills.

Nadiem Makarim Planning Teacher Marketplace on CNN Indonesia News 2023: Analysis of Illocutionary Act

The procurement of a teacher marketplace, which is scheduled to commence in 2024, is the topic of discussion in this research. The implementation of a teacher marketplace plan has a significant influence on aspiring young instructors seeking teaching opportunities. The objective of this study is to classify the illocutionary acts in the news and to implementation of illocutionary acts in the news This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing a systematic process for gathering literary sources, doing thorough readings of these sources, recording significant information, analyzing the data, and drawing conclusions. This study examines the concept of speech actions, specifically illocutionary acts, as they are manifested in the news articles found on the CNN Indonesia webpage. The researcher discovered that speakers employed 42.8% representational, 0% commissive, 28.6% expressive, 28.6% directive, and 0% declarative language in the news. Furthermore, the speech of the speakers in the news is categorized into five main types: representational, instructions, and expressive. Nevertheless, the problem of the marketplace teacher issue has significant adverse consequences for educators, as it might result in undesired joblessness within the educational sphere for both proponents and opponents of the issue.

Health Professionals’ Recommendations for a Malaysian Dementia Plan

ABSTRACT About 8.5% of Malaysians have dementia. However, current national policies and practice guidelines for older adults do not specifically address issues and key action areas for the implementation of a Malaysian dementia plan. Therefore, this study aims to identify key priorities for the development of a Malaysian dementia plan based on healthcare professionals’ recommendations, ensuring quality and accessible nationwide care for individuals with dementia. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 21 healthcare professionals, including general practitioners, geriatricians, neurologists, pharmacists, nutritionists, occupational therapists, nurses, and psychologists. Thematic analysis revealed four key priorities for a Malaysian dementia plan: (1) Public Awareness and Destigmatization of Dementia, (2) Early Detection of Dementia, (3) Establishing Efficient Care Pathways, (4) Support For Carers and Family Members. The findings highlight the complexity of dementia care, emphasizing medical, rehabilitative, psychosocial, and societal needs. The emphasis on healthcare professionals’ perspectives in this study underscores the importance of including individuals with dementia, their families, and carers as participants in future research.

Current trends in the formation of strategic and tactical decisions for the development of Russian Arctic basic cities

Subject. This article discusses the implementation of the economic potential of the Russian Arctic. Objectives. The article aims to analyze the prospects for the development of core cities in the Russian Arctic, taking into account specific constraints. Methods. For the study, we used the methods of logical analysis. Results. The article describes the main reasons for the deterioration of the economic situation in the cities of the Russian Arctic and assesses the main phases of the implementation of master plans for the development of areas. Conclusions. It is necessary to ensure the participation of the population and the business community in resolving issues related to the development of key cities in the Russian Arctic.

Quality Improvement Intervention for Reducing Acute Treatment Times in Ischemic Stroke

Efficient care processes are crucial to minimize treatment delays and improve outcome after endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) in patients with ischemic stroke. A potential means to improve care processes is performance feedback. To evaluate the effect of performance feedback to hospitals on treatment times for EVT. This cluster randomized clinical trial was conducted from January 1, 2020, to June 30, 2022. Participants were consecutive adult patients with ischemic stroke who underwent EVT in 13 Dutch hospitals. No patients were excluded. Data analysis took place from March to May 2023. The intervention consisted of feedback on hospital performance using structure, process, and outcome indicators. Indicator scores were based on data from a national quality registry and compared with a benchmark. Performance feedback was provided through a dashboard for local quality improvement teams who developed and implemented improvement plans based on the feedback. Every 6 months, 3 to 4 randomly selected hospitals switched to the intervention condition. The primary outcome was time from door to groin puncture for all patients treated with EVT. Secondary outcomes included door-to-needle time, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score at day 2, expanded Treatment in Cerebral Infarction (eTICI) score, and modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score at 3 months. The effect of the intervention was estimated with multivariable linear mixed models. A total of 4747 patients were included (intervention: 2431; control: 2316). Their mean (SD) age was 72 (13) years; 2337 (49.2%) were female and 2410 (50.8%) were male. The median (IQR) baseline NIHSS score was 14 (8-19). Median (IQR) door-to-groin puncture time under the intervention condition was 47 (25-71) minutes, compared with 52 (29-75) minutes under the control condition. The adjusted absolute reduction was 5 minutes (β = -4.8; 95% CI, -9.5 to -0.1; P = .04), corresponding to a relative reduction of 9.2% (95% CI, -18.3% to -0.2%). This study found that performance feedback provided through a dashboard used by local quality improvement teams reduced door-to-groin puncture time for EVT. Implementation of performance feedback in hospitals providing EVT can improve the quality of care for ischemic stroke. The Netherlands Trial Register: NL9090.

Ridership-Boosting Strategies for Transit Agencies with Different Characteristics: Insights from a Nationwide Survey

With COVID-19 no longer classified as a public health emergency, transit agencies are seeking strategies to boost their ridership. Although previous studies have compiled many viable strategies, there is limited knowledge about their effectiveness for agencies with differing characteristics and how their implementation may have evolved post-pandemic. This paper bridges this research gap by identifying effective strategies for agencies of different sizes, regions, and service types. We based this study on a nationwide online survey of 244 transit agencies recruited via email and employed logistic regression analyses to test associations of the perceived effectiveness of strategies with agency characteristics. The findings reveal that marketing and promotion strategy implementation rates increased during the pandemic; however, such increases were short-term and not incorporated into the agencies’ future implementation plans. Moreover, increasing the service frequency emerged as the most effective strategy, whereas fleet electrification, despite being a lower priority for ridership recovery, proved significantly more effective for agencies with firsthand experience. Policymakers and transit agency managers can use the findings of this study to identify strategies that their peer agencies of similar sizes, regions, and service types consider effective for boosting ridership and promote transit use for everyone, especially for those lacking alternative means for transportation.

Bone Estuary Protected Area for Sustainable “Nike” Fisheries: Local Communities and Fishers Perspectives

Objective: Providing information on the perspectives of local communities and fishers living around the nike fishing area regarding the Bone Estuary Protected Area implementation plan. Theoretical Framework: Previous studies have examined biology, ecology, socio-economics, and technology for catching nike resources in Gorontalo. Policy and regulation are also essential aspects that need to be implemented as a form of biodiversity and habitat conservation. Method: As the primary respondents, local communities and fishermen were directly involved in the Estuary Protected Area plan. Data collection was carried out through in-depth structured interviews and observations using questionnaires. Results and Discussion: The local community and fishermen agree with the Bone Estuary protection plan to maintain the sustainability of the nike fish. However, restrictions on fishing gear, time, and area have not been entirely accepted to preserve the nike population due to their ignorance of the importance of the nike life cycle in supporting population recruitment. Research Implications: This study serves as fundamental insights for stakeholders to develop and implement technical strategies to sustain nike fish resources by protecting the Bone Estuary. Engaging community or traditional leaders is crucial to facilitating communication between the government, scientists, and local residents, fostering responsible participation to ensure the success of the protected area. Originality/Value: Local communities and fishermen residing in the Bone Estuary area have expressed partial disagreement with implementing the Bone Estuary Protected Area plan.

Abundance, Size Structure, and Growth of the Invasive Blue Crab Callinectes sapidus in the Lesina Lagoon, Southern Adriatic Sea.

The fishery biology of the invasive Atlantic blue crab Callinectes sapidus in the Mediterranean Sea outside the eastern sectors of the basin has been only recently investigated. Here we studied the population of C. sapidus in the Lesina Lagoon (Adriatic Sea, SE Italy). In total, 838 crabs were captured monthly between February 2021 and January 2022 using fyke nets. Abundances varied seasonally with catches per unit effort ranging between 0 and 1.76 crabs fyke nets-1 d-1 in winter and summer. Spatial abundances estimated in summer by a Carle-Strub procedure ranged between 0.06 and 0.64 crabs m-2. The sex ratio (♂/♀) was close to 1:1; males prevailed only in August and September; ovigerous females occurred from April to August. The males' size at morphological maturity was smaller than females (110.6-112.3 mm vs. 122.1-123.1 mm). Seasonal von Bertalanffy growth parameters indicated that, compared with males, females showed a shorter maximum lifespan (5 vs. 8 years), a higher growth coefficient K (0.6 vs. 0.4 y-1) and growth performance index Ф' (4.6 vs. 4.3), while maximum sizes CW∞ (237.8 vs. 232.6 mm) and seasonality indices C (0.62 vs. 0.57) were similar. Furthermore, females showed higher natural and fishing mortalities and exploitation rate. We discussed the results of the present study in the context of the available literature to provide a valuable basis for the implementation of standardized Mediterranean-scale management plans, matching exploitation of C. sapidus with sustainable conservation of coastal ecosystems.

Investigating the policy Effect of Medicine Subsidy Plan (Daruyar) on Patients' Out-Of-Pocket Payments :A Case Study of the General Health Insurance Administration of Isfahan Province

Background: The policy of removing the preferred drug currency (Daruyar plan) has been with the approach of increasing the coverage ratio and insurance obligations and paying attention to patients' out of pockets, especially incurable, chronic and low-income patients. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of this plan on price and consumption ,and ultimately, the out of pocket payments after its implementation. Methods: The research method of this study was descriptive-analytical. Primary sampling included 5 pharmacies selected non-randomly and purposefully. After extracting the drug data of the insured persons related to these pharmacies from the database of the Health Insurance Organization, a sample of 384 people determined from the Morgan table was determined randomly and the number of 1803 items of medicine received by them was checked. Then the data was analyzed using SPSS 17 software and Mann-Whitney test. Results: The survey of 1803 items of medicine in the two periods of November 2021 and 2022 showed that the maximum amount of out-of-pocket payment in November 2021 was equal to 184,000,000 Rials and the average of this variable was 1,357,000 Rials and the median was 177,250 Rials. This number in 2022 was 92,000,000 Rials, 1,805,000 Rials respectively and 181,050 Rials. The results of the analysis of these data showed that after the implementation of Daruyar plan, due to the allocation of compensatory subsidies, there has been no significant change in the total out-of-pocket payment of the patients. Conclusion: This study investigated the effect of Daruyar plan on price changes, consumption and out-of-pocket payments of patients. The comparison of out-of-pocket payment data in the two time frames of November 2021 and 2022 showed that eliminating the preferred drug currency and implementing the drug subsidy plan has not made a significant change regarding patients' out-of-pocket payments.

Pengembangan Bahan Ajar Guru Pada Mata Pelajaran Akhlak Kelas IV di Madrasah Diniyyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah Masjid Agung Ashliyah

Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah was one of the non-formal education in Indonesia, however there are several problems in learning at MDTA such as those found in moral learning at MDTA Masjid Agung Ashliyah Padang Panjang, namely teacher textbooks in teaching have not met learning objectives because the material is still limited and incomplete, the books provided by the madrasah are also still limited and teachers have not used teaching tools in the form of lesson implementation plans (RPP) in the learning process, so that the learning process is less effective and efficient. This study aims to produce a product in the form of teacher teaching materials as a guide for teachers in teaching. This study is entitled "Development of Teacher Teaching Materials for the Subject of Morals for Class IV at MDTA Masjid Agung Ashliyah Padang Panjang". This type of research was Research and Development (R&D) using the 4D model, namely Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate, but this research only goes as far as Develop. This research was conducted at MDTA Masjid Agung Ashliyah Padang Panjang from May 10 to August 5, 2024. This study focuses on research on the development of teacher teaching materials for the subject of morals for class IV MDTA on the material "Morals are Easy for Fellow Humans". After the development of the teacher teaching materials, a feasibility test was carried out by curriculum experts and media experts. The results of the curriculum feasibility test were 86% with very feasible criteria, while the results of the media feasibility test were 84% with very feasible criteria, while the response of the morals subject teacher to the development of this teacher teaching material was 89.4% with a statement of very feasible. So it can be concluded that the development of teacher teaching materials for the subject of morals is very feasible to use.
