Research on the Teaching Quality Management of “Xindi Applied Piano Pedagogy”

Xindi Applied Piano Pedagogy (XAPP) is one of the key achievements of Chinese music education reform in recent years, reflecting the booming of piano education in China. Twenty years after its establishment, the pedagogy has been widely accepted by society. Based on the PDCA (plan-do-check-act) cycle, the paper studies XAPP in relation to teaching quality management, hoping to achieve quality teaching results by improving teaching models and quality. In order to investigate the XAPP teaching process, a closed-loop management on XAPP’s teaching quality is formed, and the questions are divided into different modules: teaching team building, curriculum design, course in effect, teaching materials selection, teacher assessment and rectification, customer satisfaction survey, as well as teaching evaluation and feedback. The application of the PDCA cycle in XAPP’s teaching quality management is then analyzed, with an aim to optimize applied piano teaching management and improve XAPP’s teaching system, curriculum design, teaching materials, and theoretical framework. This paper also studies XAPP from a management perspective, which not only promotes the development of music education, but also expands the research field of music education management.

Interactive piano teaching in distance learning

ABSTRACT In an attempt of curricula improvement, many seek to create new approaches that would help develop the necessary knowledge within a shorter period of time. The primary purpose of this paper is to investigate the role of interactive piano teaching in distance learning. The paper suggests new learning approaches to interactive piano instruction. The training programme is based on interactive groups, the Flowkey application, technical and psychological aspects, improvisation, changing role positions, and the development of self-control. The programme results showed that 83% out of 120 students demonstrated a high level of knowledge, and only 2% showed a low level, which was explained by absenteeism. 28% out of 120 students learned to recognise melodies, 27% improved rhythm and tempo, 25% gained two-handed playing skills, and 20% out of 120 students developed improvisation skills. The results have scientific value for researchers engaged in studying various training programmes.

Coryphaeus of the Kharkiv piano school. Nataliia Oleksandrivna Yeshchenko. A word about the teacher

Statement of the problem. The article is devoted to the creative personality of Nataliia Oleksandrivna Yeshchenko (1926–2015), an outstanding musician and well-known teacher, Honored Art Worker of Ukraine, Professor of the Special Piano Department at Kharkiv I. P. Kotlyarevsky National University of Arts. The performance and teaching activities of N. Yeshchenko are studied in the context of the birth and development of the Kharkiv piano school. Modern Ukrainian musicology has a number of publications devoted both to the development of Kharkiv I. P. Kotlyarevsky National University of Arts over many years of its glorious history, and to the personalities who formed its composition, performance and pedagogical schools. In the field of piano art and pedagogy, the study of the Kharkiv piano school is carried out through understanding the works of its outstanding representatives. For example, substantial monographs by L. Lysenko, O. Kononova, N. Iniutochkyna, N. Rudenko and a team of authors led by L. Shubina are dedicated to such outstanding pianists as P. Lutsenko, V. Lozova, R. Horowitz, N. Yeshchenko, T. Verkina. The purpose of the article is to draw attention to the creative figure of Nataliia Yeshchenko, one of the most prominent teachers of the special piano department at Kharkiv I. P. Kotlyarevsky National University of Arts, to reveal the features of her performance and teaching activities, her role in the birth and development of the Kharkiv piano school. The theoretical ground of the study is based on the works on piano pedagogy and performance practice, reference books, archival materials, studies of Kharkiv musical culture and historiography of Kharkiv I. P. Kotlyarevsky National University of Arts at that time. The scientific novelty of the work is argued in a multifaceted analysis of Yeshchenko’s performance achievements and pedagogical principles, which developed in the further professional activities of her numerous pupils and in the formation of her own Yeshchenko’s school, as well as in the scientific use of materials from her personal archive. The personality-oriented research method made it possible to single out and comprehend individual episodes of her creative biography; the comparative method helped clarify her individual performance style and pedagogical principles of professional musician training; the historical and cultural approach contributed to the study of N. Yeshchenko’s creative personality in the context of the founding and growth of the Kharkiv piano school in the 2nd half of the twentieth century and led to the conclusion that she played an outstanding role in the development of musical culture and professional piano education in Ukraine at that time.

Study on Intelligent Online Piano Teaching System Based on Deep Learning Recurrent Neural Network Model

This study has been conducted to solve the problem of repetitive piano lessons and to bring a personalized experience for each piano learner. The application of deep learning (DL) technology for children’s piano teaching has a positive effect on their interest in the subject and improves the teaching quality. Music instruments were identified in the system using an instrument recognition model that was developed using deep learning techniques. It was also utilized to help children learn to play the piano by giving them direction and boosting their excitement for it. The proposed model’s ability to recognize and acquire features has been improved. The recurrent neural network (RNN) demonstrated instrument recognition accuracy of 96.4%, and the model’s recognition error rate decreased and stabilized as the number of iterations increased. The proposed RNN for musical instruments recognizes instruments by using DL to accurately identify musical properties.

Research on Real-Time Information Storage and Remote Piano Teaching Based on Bayesian Algorithm

In recent years, big data has developed rapidly, but there are still some problems. In order to solve these problems, this article has carried out research on big data and integrated it into industrial equipment inspection, and designed a function for data processing. This function is based on the XML system and studies the relationship between the XML system and the database in order to switch between different types of data. At the same time, because of the error of the data processed by the sensor, we decided to improve the Bayesian prediction calculation method in order to improve the accuracy of the data and reduce the error of the data. In the process of extracting key data, the key data collected by the sensor will be transmitted to the cloud platform. This is to realize the free transmission of data on different devices without other forms of interference and hindrance. The processed data will be stored in the monitor or computer for further processing. In order to ensure that the data will not be disturbed or destroyed during the process of saving data, we have designed a data security system, which consists of encryption modules and key cracking modules, and has tested the performance of these modules through a large number of experiments. In order to improve the operating efficiency of the system and to extend the service life, online piano teaching is a part of online education. This article uses music education apps and piano online education to study new ways of piano education in the information age and expounds the combination of intelligent systems and piano education. This has a major impact on future education.

Deep Learning Dual Neural Networks in the Construction of Learning Models for Online Courses in Piano Education.

The use of deep learning (DL) and artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching children piano lessons promotes modern piano instruction and enhances the overall quality of education. To begin, a more thorough explanation of the teaching environment and the intelligent piano's features is provided. Then, a method for detecting the onset of a piano note using a Dual Neural Network (DNN) is proposed. By transforming the original time-domain waveform of the piano music signal into a frequency distribution that changes with time, the network can analyze the input signal's time-frequency. Finally, the intelligent piano teaching method combines deep learning with artificial intelligence (AI) to produce the best possible results for students learning the piano instrument. For children and their parents alike, it is a favorite, and it significantly impacts their interests. The proposed model has a 94% overall accuracy rate.

ZeneZen, Creative Piano Pedagogy

This study aims to investigate in detail The ZeneZen Creative Piano Pedagogy. This research, which is an example of a case study, is a qualitative study in which descriptive research methods and techniques are used. For the research, both professors were interviewed. The interview was conducted within the framework of an unstructured interview form designed on 4 main lines of approach: methodology, application, difficulties, and its impact on other areas. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptively. As a result, it is seen that the ZeneZen pedagogical approach created for piano education is quite different from traditional piano education as an approach in which many elements are applied as opposed to only teaching and practicing piano works. In this approach, music and also silence are considered holistically, auditory, visual, bodily, and internal sensations are blended, and students learn to explore and communicate their imaginations and inner worlds through the piano.

Emotional discomforts in the piano learning process: a narrative inquiry

This paper presents narrative inquiry research carried out in São Paulo (Brazil) into the experiences of emotional discomfort generated during the piano learning process. This study addresses some of these discomforts and the narratives that shape them and give them meaning. Narrative Inquiry in Music Education (Barrett & Stauffer, 2009) offered the supporting basis to adopt narrative inquiry as the methodology (Clandinin, 2006, 2007, 2013; Clandinin & Connelly, 1990, 2000). We understand that lived experiences may cause memories, and that negative memories may hinder the experiences and performance of the student pianist (Osborne & Kenny, 2008). In order to undertake narrative inquiry, a group comprised of the researcher and 9 volunteer pianists met 23 times throughout 2018. Along the encounters, the participants told and retold their stories, discussed proposed subjects, and played the piano when, and how they wished. Methodologically, experiences of the participants were shared both orally and in written form. Each participant also wrote three individual narratives, following Irving Seidman's proposal (2006). The volunteers participated in the construction of the drafts and final text. As the researcher read and reread the narratives, she noted feelings of inadequacy, overload, frustration, and dissatisfaction due to constant comparison, loneliness, performance anxiety, injustice, and incomprehension on the part of teachers, colleagues, friends and relatives. Competitiveness emerged as a common denominator that caused these issues. The final discussion promoted a questioning of competitiveness in the piano teaching system in music schools.

Piano Intelligent Teaching Evaluation with IoT and Multimedia Technology

With deepening of the economic development process, the overall spiritual and cultural needs of the people have increased, and quality education has received more and more attention. Piano education is an important part of quality education. Nowadays, piano education has also been able to move forward continuously. As the king of musical instruments, the piano is widely used in music learning. Learning the piano can exercise willpower, develop intelligence, and cultivate sentiment. With development of computer software as well as hardware, Internet of Things technology and multimedia technology provide the material basis and preconditions for intelligent piano teaching. Therefore, how to evaluate the impact of the IoT and multimedia technology on intelligent teaching of piano has become a very important topic. Based on this, this work combines BP network with artificial fish swarm algorithm (AFS) and proposes network model (IAFS-BP) for evaluating the quality of piano intelligent teaching in the context of Internet of Things and multimedia. The specific contents of this work are as follows: (1) Aiming at the shortcomings of AFS, an IAFS with mutation operator, dynamic vision, and step size is proposed. (2) In view of shortcomings for BP network, IAFS is used in BP network. By using the IAFS algorithm in the training of the weights as well as thresholds, the training speed and training accuracy of the network are improved. (3) This work has carried out a comprehensive and systematic experiment to verify effectiveness and feasibility of IAFS-BP applied to quality assessment of piano intelligent teaching in the context of the IoT and multimedia.

Review of “The New Program in Teaching Piano” by Hoda Sabry

This review is introducing the only existing and pioneering book of piano pedagogy in Egypt and the Arab World by Egyptian piano professor Dr. Hoda Sabry. The New Program in Teaching Piano, 1975, is one result of Dr. Sabry’s dissertation, The Adaptation of Class Piano Methods as Used in the United States of America for the use in the Egyptian Educational System, Indiana University Bloomington, 1965.

Reflections on Teaching Piano to Young Children Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders

It is not possible for professionals, including music teachers, to avoid interacting with and teaching children living with or affected by an autism spectrum disorder, because this condition is prevalent among young learners. Although previous studies have explored the effect of music and music therapy on children with autism, few have studied the practical instruction of teaching a musical instrument to these learners from the perspective of autism and its comorbidities. We used a qualitative research method, namely an action research model that incorporated observations, journal writing, and reflection. Twelve learners with autism spectrum disorder were given piano lessons, and during this process, adaptations of teaching methods and the materials were assessed. To help us achieve our objectives, we used the book My First Piano Adventure for the Young Learner as our guide. Our main findings were that incorporating physical exercises to improve fine and gross motor skills, using visual adaptations in instructions, and being sensitive to co-occurring conditions such as attention deficit disorder, anxiety or hypersensitivity to the environment enhanced the learning experience. This approach should fit in well with the modern paradigm in interventions that entail teaching children on the autism spectrum: teaching skills in a natural environment, integrated across domains, and bearing in mind the need to feel empathy for learners’ unique diversity.

Художественно-творческое развитие как стратегическая задача обучения пианистов в Китае

Artistic and creative development is an obligatory attribute of modern pianist education, which is convincingly reflected in the theory of musical pedagogy. However, in pedagogical practice, it is noticeably infringed. Therefore, the search for ways to activate it is extremely relevant, as it can fundamentally change the effectiveness of the education of musicians. There are many reasons for the insufficient creative development of pianists. But some of them are of strategic importance. In this case, we are talking about a violation of the conceptual principle of musical pedagogy “Unity of the artistic and technical with the leading artistic”. The purpose of the article is to analyze the reasons of insufficient musical and artistic development of pianists during their education in China and Russia. The methodology of the research is based on the division of studying pianists into amateurs and future professionals. To achieve it, an analysis of the target settings in the training of pianists, reflected in scientific research, was applied. Results: if we take the technical skill of pianists as a basis, then extreme positions on this issue are observed in the music schools of two well-known musicians in China: pianist Liu Shikun and Professor Liu Ninh. The first is characterized by a focus on the musical and artistic development of the child, the second – on high performance results necessary for professional training. These attitudes are quite justified in a specific situation. But the increased attention to the technical equipment of pianists, justified in the training of professional pianists, comes into sharp contradiction in the training of amateur pianists. The focus on the accentuated technical development of all pianists is a fundamental mistake in the piano pedagogy of China, as it automatically leads to the infringement of artistic development.

Design and Application of the Piano Teaching System Integrating Videos and Images

The art of piano playing has been continuously entering into people’s life. However, with the continuous improvement of science and technology and living standards, the traditional teaching mode can no longer meet the piano teaching mode. The teaching of piano is different from traditional subjects, such as Chinese and mathematics. It requires students to experience the artistic characteristics and the live atmosphere of the players brought by the piano. This study integrates video and image teaching methods with piano teaching. Videos and images can more intuitively show the live atmosphere brought by piano players and musical artistic features brought by the piano. At the same time, this study uses the convolutional neural network (CNN) method to study the relevant features of videos and images of piano teaching. These features are mainly the characteristics of piano music, the behavior of players, and the basic knowledge of a piano. The research results show that the clustering method can effectively classify the features of videos and images in piano teaching, and the maximum classification error is only 1.89%. The CNN method also has high performance in predicting the relevant features of piano teaching videos and images. Accuracy. The largest prediction error is only 2.23%, and the linear correlation coefficient also exceeds 0.95. This set of the piano teaching mode that combines videos and images is beneficial to both teachers and students.

Piano Teaching Knowledge Graph Construction Based on Cross-Media Data Analysis and Semantic Network.

With the rapid development of information technology and mobile Internet, digital image, text, audio, video, and other cross-media data are growing explosively, which has changed people's way of life and work. In view of the issues of negative studying effectivity and challenging attention of college students in the modern-day piano instructing process, this paper puts forward the application of knowledge Atlas technology in piano teaching and constructs a multimodal knowledge Atlas of piano teaching based on deep neural network, so as to make piano teaching more intelligent and improve students' learning efficiency and learning interest. How to realize the semantic association understanding of cross-media data is the core problem of cross-media semantic analysis. First, this paper introduces the basic rules of ontology construction and the basic method of establishing general knowledge graph are introduced. Then, taking the piano teaching content as an example, natural language sentences can be expressed and stored with cross-media data using semantic network. The mathematical understanding is extracted in accordance to the herbal language processing technology, and the entities are fused in accordance to the frequent semantic similarity detection between extraordinary entities, so as to decrease the redundancy and repetition fee of entities and the complexity of the graph. The fused new knowledge is processed according to the quality evaluation rules, the qualified part is added to the knowledge base, and then the above steps are iterated to update the database. The great overall performance of piano instructing understanding graph mannequin primarily based on semantic network is validated through experiments.

Optimization of Online Course Platform for Piano Preschool Education Based on Internet Cloud Computing System.

This article focuses on introducing online piano teaching methods and has developed and implemented a preschool piano education online course platform. The system consists of four parts: backend, WeChat, client, and web page. Backend development uses PHP language and Laravel system framework, WeChat and web development both use JavaScript language and React framework, client development uses Objective-C language, and the system provides internal support for RESTful API, mainly for client, WeChat, and web. The client relies on the existing voice sensors of the research group to recognize and evaluate the performance of the students. The role of the client is to show the students their homework and demonstrate the activities performed by the teacher. The function of the WeChat terminal is to manage student work, user information, and user social interaction functions. The function of the web page is the score management and data analysis functions. Based on the knowledge of network course design, this article studies the design of piano preschool education platform and adds relevant components of the Internet cloud computer system and voice sensor to this platform, which provides great convenience for students to learn piano.

Analysis of Two-Piano Teaching Assistant Training Based on Neural Network Model Sound Sequence Recognition.

In today's society, with the gradual improve5ment of material living standards, people are also more in pursuit of their own spiritual enjoyment. The study of piano has gradually become a way for people to enrich their spiritual life, and more and more people attach importance to it. In the field of piano teaching, the two-piano method is a unique form of playing the piano. In order to solve the problem that the recognition accuracy of the sequence of two pianos is seriously reduced in the environment of noise and reverberation, this paper proposes an auxiliary training analysis system based on the neural network model. Firstly, in order to learn the nonlinear relationship between the sound order and the target task label from the massive data, a multitask preprocessing method combining speech enhancement and detection is used to supervise the deep neural network training. Then, convolutional neural network is used to construct the end-to-end recognition system, and the initial recognition results are checked and corrected by the phonological sequence model. Finally, the sequence recognition is carried out under the condition of noise, and the articulation is improved by speech enhancement front-end module, and then the sequence recognition model is used for recognition. Compared with traditional training methods, it is proved that our method is effective in improving the training efficiency and performance quality of players. At the same time, this method breaks through the limitation of traditional training method of double piano, creates a more scientific training means, and realizes the practice and application of artificial intelligence technology in the teaching of double piano.

Piano Teaching in Colleges and Universities in the Environment of New Media

Comprehensive Evaluation System for Realizing the Ability of University Piano Teaching

Students benefit from teacher’s action during education in a variety of subjects. Identifying the need for a better understanding of the influence of various presentation types at different levels of student proficiency is extremely important. Moreover, these skills are also important to any technique of learning piano in a school environment. The significance of music in the school’s curriculum, new concepts for teaching music in the school, and new ideas for teaching piano were among them. This study focuses on a teaching environment and piano learning in which beginning and advanced piano students study to produce a particular style of staccato in three types of group instruction scenarios. The musical difficulty is only demonstrated through audio and observation of the teacher’s action performance. The comprehensive ability evaluation system for piano teaching can, to a certain extent, evaluate and sort the ability of college piano teaching. Therefore, this paper utilizes the attribute method in combination with instant analysis which provides seven attribute indicators. The approach is reasonable, and evaluating characteristics such as the level of the school’s teaching plan set and related psychological weights may well be revised as necessary to address users’ requirements. After completely integrating the qualities of the school and comprehensively examining various contributing factors, the students’ learning quality in different grades or the same grade of colleges and universities may be determined. A comparison against the existing schemes can effectively represent the school’s overall teaching level.
