Titanium-coated high-density Fe2O3 single crystal nanowire array for solar water splitting

Fe2O3 holds promising n-type semiconductor material in the field of solar water splitting due to its excellent photocatalytic properties. However, the photoelectrochemical performance of Fe2O3 is limited by its inherent properties such as poor conductivity, and charge separation efficiency owing to its recombination rate. Therefore, researchers are more focused on nanostructuring, doping, and surface coating to overcome these issues of Fe2O3. In this study, we have investigated a low-cost way to fabricate a Ti coating layer on a high-density Fe2O3 single-crystal nanowire array for solar water splitting. Firstly, we have prepared a high-density single-crystal Fe2O3 nanowire array at lower temperatures by a new approach stress-induced atomic diffusion method. Thereafter, the prepared nanowire array was coated by Ti film using RF sputtering. The optimal film thickness of 13 nm titanium coatings layer into Fe2O3 single crystal nanowire array exhibited a high photocurrent density of 1.36 mA/cm2 at 1.23 V versus RHE and solar to hydrogen conversion efficiency (STH) of 1.67%, which could be resulting from adjusted optoelectronic properties of the nanowires.

Solar-powered detection of organic dyes using nitrogen-doped N-TiO2/Ag2O nanorod arrays.

Organic pollutant detection has caused widespread concern regarding due to their potential environmental and human health risks. In this work, a nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide/silver oxide (N-TiO2/Ag2O) composite has been designed asa sensitive photoelectrochemical (PEC) monitoring platform of organic dyes. Sensitive determination relies on the outstanding PEC performance of N-TiO2/Ag2O. The improved PEC performance stems from the effective separation of photocarriers and the extended light response range provided by the narrowing bandgap and a p-n junction with N-TiO2/Ag2O. The N-TiO2/Ag2O electrode exhibits a photocurrent density of up to 2.2mA/cm2, demonstrating three times increase compared withthe photocurrent density observed with the pure TiO2 film. The linear detection range for rhodamine B (RhB), methylene blue (MB), and methyl orange (MO) is 0.2ng/mL to 10 μg/mL with an ultrasensitive detection limit of 0.2ng/mL without bias voltage. Due to the outstanding photocurrent density and sensitive response to organic pollutants, the N-TiO2/Ag2O PEC sensor provided a promising analytical method to detect environmental organic dyes.

BiVO4 Photoanode with NiV2O6 Back Contact Interfacial Layer for Improved Hole-Diffusion Length and Photoelectrochemical Water Oxidation Activity.

The short hole diffusion length (HDL) and high interfacial recombination are among the main drawbacks of semiconductor-based solar energy systems. Surface passivation and introducing an interfacial layer are recognized for enhancing HDL and charge carrier separation. Herein, we introduced a facile recipe to design a pinholes-free BiVO4 photoanode with a NiV2O6 back contact interfacial (BCI) layer, marking a significant advancement in the HDL and photoelectrochemical activity. The fabricated BiVO4 photoanode with NiV2O6 BCI layer exhibits a 2-fold increase in the HDL compared to pristine BiVO4. Despite this improvement, we found that the front surface recombination still hinders the water oxidation process, as revealed by photoelectrochemical (PEC) studies employing Na2SO3 electron donors and by intensity-modulated photocurrent spectroscopy measurements. To address this limitation, the surface of the NiV2O6/BiVO4 photoanode was passivated with a cobalt phosphate electrocatalyst, resulting in a dramatic enhancement in the PEC performance. The optimized photoanode achieved a stable photocurrent density of 4.8 mA cm-2 at 1.23 VRHE, which is 12-fold higher than that of the pristine BiVO4 photoanode. Density Functional Theory (DFT) simulations revealed an abrupt electrostatic potential transition at the NiV2O6/BiVO4 interface with BiVO4 being more negative than NiV2O6. A strong built-in electric field is thus generated at the interface and drifts photogenerated electrons toward the NiV2O6 BCI layer and photogenerated holes toward the BiVO4 top layer. As a result, the back-surface recombination is minimized, and ultimately, the HDL is extended in agreement with the experimental findings.

La implanted band engineering of ZnO nanorods for enhanced photoelectrochemical water splitting performance

In the quest to improve photoelectrochemical water-splitting performance, we have doped lanthanum (La) in highly crystalline zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods (NRs) using a facile and low-temperature hydrothermal route and successful substitution of La3+ at the Zn2+ site is confirmed from structural and chemical analysis. The tapered NRs morphology gained after La doping resulted in lower optical bandgap of 3.17 eV, enhanced visible light trapping, and multiphoton absorption, which assist in achieving good PEC activity. The La doping also offered higher Urbach energy (EU), subsidizing the number of oxygen vacancies. The UPS spectra show that La doping reduces conduction band energy level and endorses smooth charge transportation. The La-doped ZnO exhibits two times enhancement in photocurrent (1.54 mA·cm−2) compared to pristine ZnO (0.81 mA·cm−2). The higher applied bias to the photon conversion efficiency of ∼1.14% for La-doped ZnO confirms the efficient utilization of solar energy. The EIS measurements demonstrated reduction in charge transfer resistance with La-doping. Mott-Schottky analysis shows that La doping lowers the flat-band potential and enhances charge transportation, making it a potential photoanode for PEC water-splitting applications.

Combined Effect of Underlayer and Deposition Solution to Optimize the Alignment of Hematite Photoanodes.

This study investigates the optimization of hematite (α-Fe2O3) photoanodes for enhanced photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance and reproducibility, which are crucial for photocatalytic applications. Despite hematite's potential, hindered by inherent limitations, significant improvements were realized by introducing a titanium dioxide (TiO2) underlayer and ethanol-modified deposition. The influence of the deposition methods was understood by potential-dependent photoelectrochemical impedance spectroscopy analysis. The introduction of the TiO2 underlayer effectively increased the density of states, preferable for the electron transport in the bulk hematite, and the ethanol deposition on a TiO2 underlayer led to a stable surface state formation (S1 state) for the photoexcited hole transfer. This analysis illuminated the intricate interplay between electron transport in the bulk and photogenerated hole transfer at the solution interface, thereby facilitating smoother charge transfer. These findings underscore the viability of surface engineering and meticulous process optimization in addressing critical challenges in photocatalyst development.

ZnO/TiO2 heterojunction nanorod array for efficient photoelectrochemical water splitting

This study presents a novel approach utilizing a simple, stable, reproducible CV (Cyclic Voltammetry) electrodeposition method to deposit varying amounts of ZnO onto ordered TiO2 (Rutile) nanorod arrays. Comprehensive investigations were conducted on the morphology, semiconductor band-gap structure of different ZnO/Rutile composites, and their performance in photocatalytic (PC) and photoelectrochemical (PEC) hydrogen production. Results demonstrate that the ZnO/TiO2 photoanodes fabricated in this manner exhibit outstanding PC/PEC hydrogen production capabilities. Particularly noteworthy is the Z/R-15 photoanode, showcasing superior PEC performance with a photocurrent density 3.5 times higher than that of the pristine TiO2 photoanode under equivalent conditions. Furthermore, it was observed that depositing ZnO onto highly crystalline, annealed TiO2 nanorods yields optimal photoelectrical properties. Incorporating oxygen-rich vacancies in ZnO significantly enhances the photoelectrocatalytic performance of TiO2 photoanodes. The CV electrodeposition method offers valuable insights for developing efficient photocatalytic hydrogen production catalysts.

In-Sb Covalent Bonds over Sb2Se3/In2Se3 Heterojunction for Enhanced Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting.

Antimony selenide is a promising P-type photocatalyst, but it has a large number of deep energy level defects, leading to severe carrier recombination. The construction of a heterojunction is a common way to resolve this problem. However, the conventional heterojunction system inevitably introduces interface defects. Herein, we employ in situ synthesis to epitaxially grow In2Se3 nanosheets on Sb2Se3 nanorods and form In-Sb covalent interfacial bonds. This petal-shaped heterostructure reduced interface defects and enhanced the efficiency of carrier separation and transport. In this work, the photocurrent density in the proposed Sb2Se3/In2Se3 photocathode is 0.485 mA cm-2 at 0 VRHE, which is 30 times higher than that of pristine Sb2Se3 and it has prominent long-term stability for 24 h without obvious decay. The results reveal that the synergy of the bidirectional built-in electric field constructed between In2Se3 and Sb2Se3 and the solid In-Sb interfacial bonds together build a high-efficiency transport channel for the photogenerated carriers that display enhanced photoelectrochemical (PEC) water-splitting performance. This work provides efficient guidance for reducing interface defects via the in situ synthesis and construction of interfacial bonds.

(Invited) CdS/Ti-Si-O Composite Photoanode for Photoelectrochemical Hydrogen Generation

Advancements in clean energy drive socio-economic development and foster a sustainable future by restructuring energy systems and promoting low-carbon development. In this paper, we presented a comprehensive investigation on the design and performance characterization of CdS/Ti-Si-O composite photoanodes for photoelectrochemical (PEC) hydrogen generation. Silicon-doped TiO2 nanotube arrays were fabricated through anodization of Ti-5Si alloy, followed by the deposition of CdS using the SILAR (successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction) process, resulting in nanostructured Ti-Si-O photoanodes modified with CdS. The composite photoanodes were characterized in terms of their composition, microstructure, optical properties and photoelectrochemical hydrogen production performance. The composite photoanodes revealed a notable enhancement in PEC hydrogen generation properties with a photocurrent density of 7.86 mA/cm2，which was 19.15 times and 9.59 times to those of the undoped TiO2 photoanode and Ti-Si-O photoanode, respectively. The Si-doping mechanism of the photoanodes was elucidated through Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations. The synergistic combination of Si-doping and CdS modification represents a novel and promising approach for the design of efficient nanostructured photoanodes.

Investigating BiMeVOx compounds as potential photoelectrochemical and electrochemical materials for renewable hydrogen production

In this study, BiMeVOx compounds (where Me: Co, Mo, Ce, Zr) were synthesized and characterized as potential photoelectrochemical materials for solar water splitting, the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The analysis confirmed the successful formation of phase BiMeVOx compounds with the desired crystal structure. Among the tested materials, BiCoVOx(800) showed the highest photocurrent density (674 μA cm−2) and HER/OER activity (Tafel slope: HER = 100 mV dec−1 and OER = 75 mV dec−1), followed by BiMoVOx(800), BiCeVOx(800), and BiZrVOx(800). The superior photoelectrochemical performance of BiCoVOx(800) can be attributed to its unique electronic structure and optimized band alignment, which promote efficient charge separation and facilitate the water splitting and hydrogen evolution processes. The findings of this study highlight the promising potential of the synthesized BiMeVOx materials, particularly BiCoVOx, as efficient photoelectrochemical catalysts for water splitting. These results contribute to the advancement of renewable energy technologies and provide valuable insights for the design and development of novel photoactive materials.

Development of Bio-Photoelectrochemical Hybrids for Solar Energy Conversion

Recent advancements in solar energy conversion have identified bio-photoelectrochemical hybrids as one of the most promising sustainable techniques. This study integrates BiVO4 and TiO2 semiconductors with photoautotrophic microorganisms (e.g., Algae) to enhance solar energy conversion. Thin films of these materials were prepared and characterized, revealing a relatively smooth surface for BiVO4 while structures for TiO2 thin films deposited as nanorods. Optical properties showed band gaps of ≤ 3.1 and 2.4 eV for TiO2 and BiVO4, respectively. The point of zero charge of materials was investigated, indicating that naturally occurring biofilm formation might not be favorable for as-prepared materials. To overcome this challenge, we aimed to use polyelectrolytes to enhance attachment of cells on the surface of semiconductor and in this regards we determined the biocompatibility of using this approach. Photoelectrochemical (PEC) measurements were conducted to evaluate solar energy conversion efficiency. This study offers insights into optimizing biosystem attachment, biofilm stability, and PEC performance of coupled semiconductors with photoautotrophic microorganisms as one photoelectrode in PEC cell, advancing sustainable solar energy conversion technologies.

Enhancing photoelectrochemical properties of α-Fe2O3 using Zr-doped HfO2 ferroelectric nanoparticles

Hematite (α-Fe2O3) as a semiconductor photoanode for photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting is a promising candidate material. However, its PEC performance is limited by the slow charge transfer kinetics at the α-Fe2O3/electrolyte interface. Ferroelectric materials can be used as a tool for carrier separation in photoelectrochemical water splitting due to their spontaneous polarization electric field characteristics. Here, we deposited Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 (HZO) ferroelectric nanoparticles on the surface of α-Fe2O3 and use the spontaneous polarization field of ferroelectric HZO to promote the separation of photogenerated carriers, promote the charge transfer from α-Fe2O3 to the electrolyte, and enhance the PEC of hematite. After depositing the HZO nanoparticles, the photogenerated holes are efficiently extracted from α-Fe2O3 and then directed into the electrolyte to participate in water oxidation reaction at α-Fe2O3/HZO interfaces, which enhanced the charge separation efficiency by 58 % compared to that of pure α-Fe2O3. Consequently, the α-Fe2O3/HZO photoanode exhibits a 65 % boost in photocurrent density, reaching up to 0.28 mA cm−2 at 1.23 V versus the reversible hydrogen electrode (VRHE) compared to that of pure α-Fe2O3. This study introduces a method to engineer the photoanode/ferroelectric interface, enhancing carrier separation and thereby optimizing PEC water splitting performance.

Laser-Printed Photoanode: Femtosecond Laser-Induced Crystalline Phase Transformation of WO3 Nanorods for Space-Efficient and Flexible Thin-Film Solar Water-Splitting Cells.

Despite its potential for clean hydrogen harvesting, photoelectrochemical (PEC) water-splitting cells face challenges in commercialization, particularly related its harvesting performance and productivity at an industrial scale. Herein, a facile fabrication method of flexible thin-film photoanode for PEC water-splitting to overcome these limitations, based on laser processing technologies, is proposed. Laser-induced graphene, a carbon structure produced through direct laser writing carbonization (DLWC), plays a dual role: a flexible and stable current collector and a substrate for the hydrothermal synthesis of tungsten trioxide (WO3) nanorods (NRs). To facilitate water-splitting, a femtosecond-pulsed laser (fs laser) is focused on the WO3 NRs, converting their crystalline phase from pristine orthorhombic to monoclinic structure without thermal damage. With NiFe layered double hydroxide (LDH) catalyst, the flexible thin-film photoanode exhibits good PEC performance (1.46mAcm-2 at 1.23 VRHE) and retains ≈90% of its performance after 3000 bending cycles. With its excellent mechanical properties, the flexible photoanode can be operated in various shapes with different curvatures, enabling space-efficient PEC water-splitting by loading larger photoanode within a given space. This study is expected to contribute to the advancement of large-scale solar water-splitting cells, introducing a new approach to enhance H2/O2 production and expand its application range.

Thymus schimperi Ronniger plant flowers extracted dye-sensitized solar cells

Abstract Today’s energy demand is highly increased with the world’s population growth and technological advancement. Natural dye-sensitized solar cells (N-DSSCs) are attracting research areas as an alternative and renewable energy source due to their simple preparation technique, availability, cost-effectiveness, and environmentally friendliness. In the present work, we have successfully fabricated DSSC from Thymus schimperi Ronniger plant flowers for the first time. The solvents used for extraction of the flower dye were deionized water and its mixture with ethanol. The Thymus schimperi Ronniger flowers extracted dye solutions and sensitized photoanodes were characterized by FTIR and UV-Vis characterization techniques. The crystallinity of TiO2 film was analyzed by the XRD technique and shows pure anatase phase behavior. The photoelectrochemical solar cell performance parameters, like, short circuit current density (JSC), open circuit voltage VOC), fill factor (FF), and efficiency were evaluated from the current density-voltage (J-V) measurement using a Keithley 2450 source meter. DSSC sensitized with extracted dye solution by the mixture of water and ethanol showed better performance (1.37%) as compared with that of extracted dye solution by Deionized water alone (1,02%).

Fabrication of 2D/2D InVO4/BiVO4 Heterojunction with Synergistic Effects for Enhanced Photocatalytic Degradation and Photoelectrochemical Applications

In this work, we report a novel 2D/2D InVO4/BiVO4 heterojunction nanocomposite constructed through a simple hydrothermal approach. The morphological analysis demonstrated that BiVO4 nanoflakes to be anchored on the surface of InVO4 nanosheets. The InVO4/BiVO4 heterojunction nanocomposite displayed increased light absorption promoting their visible light harvesting. The photoactivity of the prepared InVO4/BiVO4 heterojunction was explored for the degradation of tetracycline (TC) under light treatment. InVO4/BiVO4 heterojunction exhibited superior photocatalytic activity than that of bare InVO4 and BiVO4. The as-prepared InVO4/BiVO4 heterojunction photoanodes achieved a higher photocurrent density of 60 μA/cm2 under illumination in 0.5 M Na2SO4 electrolyte. The enhanced photoelectrochemical performance is attributed to the synergistic effect and interface formation between InVO4 and BiVO4 and can effectively promote the charge separation and transfer of photoinduced carriers in heterojunction.

Transition‐Metal‐Doped TiO2 Nanorods with High‐Visible‐Light Response via a Simple Hydrothermal Method

Transition‐metal‐ion doping is an effective method to shorten bandgap and enhance visible‐light absorption of TiO2, but there are still some serious challenges for most doping technologies, such as nonuniform doping, severe lattice damages, metal atoms agglomeration, and inactivated impurities. Herein, a simple and universal hydrothermal method is developed to realize the effective transition‐metal ions doping of TiO2 (including Fe, Co, Mn, Cu, V, and Cr). The photoelectrochemical water splitting performances of Cr‐doped TiO2 nanorods with multifarious Cr ion valence states (Cr3+ or Cr6+ ions), various Cr‐ion concentrations, with or without oxygen vacancy activation are emphatically and systematically studied. Experiments and theoretical calculations demonstrate that the remarkably enhanced carrier separation and injection efficiencies are the key factors to improve the visible‐light photoactivity, benefiting from the homogeneous distribution of impurity atoms and the incorporation of oxygen vacancies. The Cr3+‐ion‐doped TiO2 nanorod arrays with oxygen vacancy activation (Cr3+/Ov–TiO2) displays an impressive incident photon‐to‐electron conversion efficiency of 5.4% at 450 nm visible light, far superior to the pure TiO2 of 0.03%. Furthermore, no obvious photocurrent decay is observed in the Cr3+/Ov–TiO2 photoanode after 12 h continuous light illumination.

Systematic Constructing FeOCl/BiVO4 Hetero-Interfacial Hybrid Photoanodes for Efficient Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting.

Bismuth vanadate (BiVO4), as a promising photoanode for photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting, suffers from poor charge separation efficiency and light absorption efficiency. Herein, iron oxychloride (FeOCl) is introduced as a novel cocatalyst simply grafted on BiVO4 to construct an integrated photoanode, enhancing PEC performance. The optimized FeOCl/BiVO4 photoanode exhibits a superior photocurrent density value of 5.23mAcm-2 at 1.23V versus reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) under AM 1.5G illuminations. From experimental analysis, such high PEC performance is ascribed to the unique properties of FeOCl, facilitating charge transport, increasing light absorption efficiency, and promoting water oxidation kinetics. Density functional theory calculations further confirm that FeOCl optimizes the Gibbs free energy of H and O-containing intermediates (OOH*) during PEC processes, boosting the catalytic kinetics of PEC water splitting. This work presents FeOCl as a promising catalyst for constructing high efficient PEC water-splitting photoanodes.

Coating effect of metal organic complex (Co-DTPMP) layer on enhancing PEC water oxidation performance of BiVO4 photoanode

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting is a promising method for transforming solar energy into clean and sustainable energy. However, PEC is severely limited, and they cannot achieve the predicted photocurrent density owing to the severe photochemical deterioration of the electrode and the recombination of photogenerated carriers. In this study, BiVO4/Co-diethylenetriamine Penta (methylene phosphonic acid) (BVO/Co-DTPMP) co-catalyst was successfully prepared as a nanoporous photoanode. Diethylenetriamine Penta (methylene phosphonic acid) was crosslinked with Co ions and coated on the BiVO4 surface by successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) to reduce fast recombination, which correlated with the BiVO4 photoanode. Various characterization and PEC measurements were conducted, revealing that the co-catalyst thin layer enhanced the charge separation and electrons transfer which significantly affected on the PEC performance of BiVO4, and the current density by BVO/Co-DTPMP was 4 mA cm−2 at 1.23 V vs. RHE. Furthermore, the co-catalyst exhibited improved charge transport and long-term stability.

Work function-tunable graphene/WO3 heterojunctions for high-performance photoelectrochemical cell: UV-treatment effect and defective graphene

Designing hybrid photoelectrodes with graphene capable of efficient charge-carrier transfer and excellent chemical stability is an effective strategy for developing high-performance photoelectrochemical (PEC) cells. However, it remains unclear how the PEC properties are enhanced and how to control the junction properties in graphene/metal oxide heterojunction-based photoelectrodes. Here, we develop a deterministic junction to enhance PEC performance in graphene/tungsten trioxide (WO3)-based photoelectrodes by tuning the work function of graphene. It reveals that the band structure of graphene/WO3 heterojunctions can be modified by ultraviolet (UV) treatment on WO3 thin films. This modification is supported by the observation that a single-layer graphene/UV-treated WO3 photoelectrode exhibits significantly enhanced PEC activities toward the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) (evidenced by features like a threefold increase in photocurrent, an onset potential shift, and improved stability), whereas the single-layer graphene/untreated WO3 electrode demonstrates improved properties for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Additionally, defects in the graphene layer formed during PEC water splitting contribute to high catalytic activities of the graphene/WO3 photoelectrode due to a decrease in the Gibbs free energy for OER and HER. These results emphasize that band structure engineering via work function tuning in graphene/WO3 heterostructures can provide multiple benefits for high PEC performance and long-term stability.

Double oxygen evolution co-catalysts modified BiVO4 to boost photoelectrochemical water oxidation performance

Improving the kinetics of oxygen evolution is crucial for enhancing the performance of photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting. Herein, this study utilizes a chemical self-growth method to grow NiFe tannic acid complex (NFTA) and Co(OH)2 on the surface of BiVO4 photoanode (BiVO4/NFTA/Co). As a result, the synergistic effects of NFTA and Co(OH)2 layers promote the efficiency and stability of BiVO4 photoanode towards PEC water oxidation. The photocurrent density of the obtained BiVO4/NFTA/Co photoanode reaches 4.97 mA cm−2, which is significantly greater than those of BiVO4/NFTA (4.36 mA cm−2), BiVO4/Co (2.51 mA cm−2), BiVO4 (1.34 mA cm−2), respectively. Detailed analysis confirms that NFTA could provide an efficient way to hasten the transfer of photo-generated holes on the photoanode surface and diminish the surface charge transfer resistance. In other hand, Co(OH)2 could be served as a cocatalyst to accelerate charge transfer for efficient oxygen evolution reaction as well as a protective layer to maintain the long-term stability of NFTA on the surface of BiVO4 during water oxidation. Such double oxygen evolution co-catalysts decoration strategy paves an effective pathway to enhance the PEC water oxidation performance of BiVO4 photoanode.

Stacked High‐Entropy Hydroxides Promote Charge Transfer Kinetics for Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting

AbstractAlthough various kinds of cocatalyst are developed and decorated on the bismuth vanadate (BiVO4) photoanode, its photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting performance is limited owing to severe charge recombination and sluggish oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Herein, a high‐entropy hydroxide electrocatalyst (FeCoNiMoCrOOH) is constructed as a co‐catalyst deposited on BiVO4 with a good PEC activity and stability in potassium borate buffer, addressing substantial charge recombination and poor surface oxygen evolution reaction of the material. FeCoNiMoCrOOH synthesized by a simple electrodeposition stacking strategy, delivers an overpotential of 172 mV at 10 mA cm−2 with a stability of 600 h under alkaline conditions, representing one of the best performances on high‐entropy‐based catalysts. The FeCoNiMoCrOOH/BiVO4 photoanode shows a photocurrent density of 5.23 mA cm−2 at 1.23 VRHE with 100 h durability in potassium borate buffer. Experimental investigations and theoretical calculations demonstrate that the synergistic effect of Mo and Cr in FeCoNi catalyst effectively decreases the dissolution Fe, Co, and Ni after long‐term operation, increases the charge transfer kinetics, and promotes OER and PEC performances, therefore enhancing the photocorrosion resistance of BiVO4. This work provides a new avenue to design high entropy‐based electrocatalysts boosting solar water splitting activity and stability.
