Photocatalytic Degradation of Sugarcane Vinasse Using ZnO Photocatalyst: Operating Parameters, Kinetic Studies, Phytotoxicity Assessments, and Reusability.

Photocatalytic degradation performance is highly related to optimized operating parameters such as initial concentration, pH value, and catalyst dosage. In this study, the impact of various parameters on the photocatalytic degradation of anaerobically digested vinasse (AnVE) has been determined through decolourization and chemical oxygen demand (COD) reduction efficiency using zinc oxide (ZnO) photocatalyst. In this context, the application of photocatalytic degradation in treating sugarcane vinasse using ZnO is yet to be explored. The COD reduction efficiency and decolourization achieved 83.40% and 99.29%, respectively, under the conditions of 250 mg/L initial COD concentration, pH 10, and 2.0 g/L catalyst dosage. The phytotoxicity assessment was also conducted to determine the toxicity of AnVE before and after treatment using mung bean (Vigna radiata). The reduction of root length and the weight of mung bean indicated that the sugarcane vinasse contains enormous amounts of organic substances that affect the plant's growth. The toxicity reduction in the AnVE solution can be proved by UV–Vis absorption spectra. Furthermore, the catalyst recovery achieved 93% in the reusability test. However, the COD reduction efficiency and decolourization were reduced every cycle. It was due to the depletion of the active sites in the catalyst with the adsorption of organic molecules. Thus, it can be concluded that the photocatalytic degradation in the treatment of AnVE was effective in organic degradation, decolorization, toxicity reduction and can be reused after the recovery process.Graphical abstract

Hydrothermal growth of ZnCdS/TiO2 nanoparticles on the surface of the Ti3C2 MXene sheet to enhance photocatalytic performance under visible light

ZnCdS/TiO2/Na-MXene composites were prepared by a hydrothermal process to obtain an excellent photocatalyst with photo-corrosion resistant property. Under hydrothermal conditions, the surface of Ti3C2 MXene was wrapped by Na+ and ZnCdS nanoparticles, which slowed down the further oxidation of Ti3C2 MXene into TiO2 and improved the utilization rate of MXene. The adsorption capacity of an optimal ZnCdS/TiO2/Na-MXene composite to methylene blue reached 299.68 ​mg/g, confirming a higher MXene content was important for photocatalytic degradation of an organic dye. The basal distance of the MXene layers increased from 10.59 ​Å to 15.21 ​Å due to the intercalation of ZnCdS, which could facilitate the transportation and adsorption of organic pollutant in ZnCdS/TiO2/Na-MXene. The total removal efficiency was 9.3 times that of ZnCdS in 120 ​min. When the composites were used for photocatalytic hydrogen production, a relatively higher ZnCdS content was necessary. The hydrogen conversion efficiency of an optimal ZnCdS/TiO2/Na-MXene composite under visible light irradiation reached 8436.58 ​μmol·g−1·h−1, which was 3.3 times that of ZnCdS. The ZnCdS/TiO2/Na-MXene composites showed excellent and stable photocatalytic activity in recycling experiments, confirming their excellent photo-corrosion property. These ZnCdS/TiO2/Na-MXene composites showed great potential in the application of photocatalytic degradation and hydrogen production, and provided a new way to reduce the oxidation process of Ti3C2 MXene.

Influence of 2D template-assisted (SBA-15) metal oxide Co3O4 for pseudocapacitive and dye degradation application

Cobalt oxide (Co3O4) is a low-cost material exhibiting excellent physicochemical and photocatalytic properties indicating its potential use for next-generation eco-friendly energy storage and photocatalytic degradation applications. In this study, Co3O4 nanoarcs were synthesized using SBA-15 as a template by microwave-assisted method to form an S15/m-Co3O4 product. Characterization was done by low and wide-angle X-Ray diffraction, and Fourier transformed infra-red spectroscopic studies confirming the presence of S15/m-Co3O4. Scanning Electron Microscope images proved the agglomerated nanotube and nanoarcs like the structure of SBA-15 and S15/m- Co3O4, respectively. Electrochemical studies included cyclic voltammetry, charge/discharge, retention capacity, and electron impedance spectroscopy studies in a 3-electrode system. S15/m-Co3O4 nanoarcs, as the electrode material, was revealed to have a specific capacity of 87.5 C/g in 1 M KOH solution. Upon running 1000 cycles, the material had excellent capacity retention of 87%. The S15/m-Co3O4 product also underwent photocatalytic degradation studies. The Rhodamine R6G dye degradation by S15/m-Co3O4 under UV irradiation exhibited a high degradation percentage of 97.7%, following the first-order kinetics. S15/m-Co3O4 has proven to be biocompatible and can be used to enhance supercapacitors which are an ideal alternative to conventional batteries for energy storage applications. Thus, the data produced proves S15/m-Co3O4 nanoarcs is an excellent electrode material for pseudocapacitive application and a catalyst for photocatalytic degradation of dye molecules.

Application in photocatalytic degradation of zearalenone based on graphitic carbon nitride

AbstractA semiconductor nano‐material was prepared, and its degradation efficiency of zearalenone (ZEN) was studied. The photocatalytic material graphitic carbon nitride (g‐C3N4) was synthesized by the traditional method of hot cracking. Its structure was characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier‐transform infrared (FTIR), X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The photocatalytic degradation experiment showed that under the irradiation of ultraviolet (UV) lamp (254 nm, including 185 nm), g‐C3N4 could induce photocatalytic effect, which provided a new method for the degradation of ZEN in real powder samples. The experimental conditions of photocatalytic degradation of the primary reference material of ZEN and ZEN in real powder samples were explored. And the degradation products of ZEN were analyzed after high‐performance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (HPLC–MS). Under each optimal experimental conditions, the degradation rate on primary reference material of ZEN and ZEN in real powder samples was 96.0% and 50.0%, respectively. The results in this work provide a theoretical reference and practical basis for the photocatalytic degradation of mycotoxin in real powder samples by g‐C3N4.

Facile synthesis of BiOCl single-crystal photocatalyst with high exposed (0 0 1) facets and its application in photocatalytic degradation

Morphology and crystal facets are important factors for affecting photocatalytic performance of BiOCl. However, facile and effective methods for synthesizing BiOCl single-crystals with well-defined morphology are still lacking. In this study, square-like BiOCl single-crystalline with high exposed (001) facets was synthesized via a facile and citric acid modulated hydrothermal route (BOC(CA)). The key feature of this method is that only citric acid is used as a structure-directing agent to adjust the structure without addition of any other organic solvents and structural directing agents. Taking the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) dyes as an example, the photocatalytic performance of BOC(CA) was studied and the degradation mechanism was also discussed in detail according to the photocurrent, photoluminescence results and free radical trapping experiments. This study provides not only a facile method for the preparation of highly active catalysts, but also new insights on the structure regulation of catalysts.

Surfactant-assisted synthesis of MoO3 nanorods and its application in photocatalytic degradation of different dyes in aqueous environment

The fabrication of an effective photocatalytic material for environmental applications is an active research area. In this research, MoO3 nanorods using different surfactants were fabricated using a facile hydrothermal method. Structural properties, surface morphology, chemical composition, and optical properties of the fabricated photocatalysts were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), photoluminescence (PL) and UV–visible diffused reflectance spectroscopy. The α-MoO3 hexagonal prism shaped nanorods prepared by hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity for the decomposition of methylene blue (MB), rhodamine B (RhB) and alizarin (AZ) dyes under the irradiance of visible light as compared to other photocatalysts. Moreover, MoO3-HMTA sample showed higher degradation efficiency for MB (98%), RhB (90%) and AZ (74%) dyes within 120 min of light exposure. In addition to this, MoO3-HMTA photocatalysts demonstrated good stability in aqueous environment after five consecutive cycles. The scavenger’s effect and degradation mechanism of MB, RhB & AZ dyes is also explained with highly efficient photocatalyst material (MoO3-HMTA). The enhanced photocatalytic efficiency of prepared material was found due to rapid transition of charge carriers, reduced recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes because of good morphology.

Construction of Z-scheme Fe3O4/BiOCl/BiOI heterojunction with superior recyclability for improved photocatalytic activity towards tetracycline degradation

The development of recyclable photocatalysts with enhanced photo-induced charge separation and efficient visible light utilization is imperative for antibiotic pollutants removal in aqueous environment. Herein, a Z-scheme Fe3O4/BiOCl/BiOI heterojunction photocatalyst was constructed using a facile solvothermal method on the basis of BiOCl/BiOI composites. A series of characterization methods were employed to analyze the microstructure, morphology, optical property and chemical composition of as-prepared ternary Fe3O4/BiOCl/BiOI composite. Field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis revealed that Fe3O4 nanoparticles were well loaded on the surface of BiOCl/BiOI microspheres. The main active species of Fe3O4/BiOCl/BiOI during photocatalysis were confirmed by radical trapping experiments, which indicated the formation of Z-scheme heterojunction. Compared to pure BiOCl and BiOI, Fe3O4/BiOCl/BiOI nanocomposite exhibited significantly improved photocatalytic performance toward tetracycline (TC) degradation (89%, 80 min). Furthermore, the photocatalytic activity of Fe3O4/BiOCl/BiOI remained at a high level after five cycles, which suggested that the ternary composite possessed good stability and reusability. Such superior photocatalytic activity of Fe3O4/BiOCl/BiOI was mainly attributed to the suitable band structure and construction of Z-scheme heterojunction, resulting in the enhanced light utilization and migration rate of charge carriers. In addition, Obviously, the ternary composite revealed a potential prospect in the practical application of photocatalytic degradation due to its good magnetic recovery performance and minimal environmental impact.

Structural and optical properties of MgNb2O6 NPs: Its potential application in photocatalytic and pharmaceutical industries as sensor

Present research accounts for the production of columbite type MgNb2O6 nanoparticles (MNO NPs) by solution combustion method, its application in photocatalytic degradation and electrochemical sensor studies. The resultant nanoparticles were well characterized by Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and UV–Visible (UV–Vis) spectral studies. PXRD patterns showed that nanoparticles have orthorhombic phase with average crystallite size of ∼29 nm.The energy band gap of the sample was found to be 4.4 eV by Diffused reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) analysis. The MNO photocatalyst matrix influences excellent photocatalytic decolourization of Acid Red-88 (AR-88) and Fast orange red (FOR) dyes under UV light irradiation. The experiment show 86 % and 74 % dye decolourization respectively after 120 min irradiation. The holes (h+) are mainly responsible for excellent photocatalytic activities as confirmed by scavenger test. Electrochemical analysis was carried out to find the reversibility of the electrode reaction of electrode using 0.1 M KCl by Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) analysis. Thus, the prepared sample plays an excellent role in photocatalysis, electrochemical activity and chemical sensing applications.

Ag Nanoparticle-Decorated Cu2S Nanosheets for Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy Detection and Photocatalytic Applications.

In this article, we demonstrate a facile, rapid, and practical approach to growing high-quality Cu2S nanosheets decorated with Ag nanoparticles (NPs) through the galvanic reduction method. The Ag/Cu2S nanosheets were efficiently applied to the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and photocatalytic degradation applications. The photodegradation of RhB dye with the Ag/Cu2S nanosheets composites occurred at a rate of 2.9 times faster than that observed with the undecorated Cu2S nanosheets. Furthermore, the Ag/Cu2S nanosheets displayed highly sensitive SERS detection of organic pollutant (R6G) as low as 10−9 M. The reproducibility experiments indicated that the Ag/Cu2S nanosheets composites could be used for dual functionality in a new generation of outstandingly sensitive SERS probes for detection and stable photocatalysts.

Two novel Co (II) bifunctional MOFs: Syntheses and applications in photocatalytic degradation of dyes and electrocatalytic water oxidation

Two novel Co (II) MOFs based on 5-(4-(imidazolyl-1-yl)phenyl) isophthalic acid (H2L), namely [Co(L)(tib)(H2O)2]n (CP 1) and [Co(L)(bip)0.5]n (CP 2) (tib ​= ​1,3,5-tirs (1-imidazolyl) benzene, bip ​= ​3,5-bis(1-imidazolyl) pyridine ether) have been synthesized under solvothermal conditions and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, single crystal X-ray diffraction. The photodegradation studies demonstrate that CPs 1–2 show high-efficiency degradation of MV (Methyl violet), and the mechanism studies demonstrate that the main active species are ⋅OH radicals. Meanwhile, electrochemistry studies demonstrate that CPs 1–2 can catalyze water oxidation under alkaline conditions, and CPs 1–2 only need the overpotential of 348 ​mV–760 mV to deliver the current density of 1 ​mA ​cm−2.

Biogenic Synthesis of Copper Nanoparticles from Rose (Rosa indica L.) and their Applications in Photocatalytic Degradation of Malachite Green and Carbol Fuchsin Dyes

Background: In recent years, the green synthesis of nanoparticles has taken a lead role over the conventional chemical and physical approach due to its non-toxic, cost-effective parameters and has found its place in various applications. Objectives: The major objectives of this study were to synthesise and characterise the copper nanoparticles using the rose extract at different set of conditions and analyse these nanoparticles as a source of dye degradation agent under sunlight. Methods: Present study was conducted with the aim to synthesize the copper nanoparticle using the rose petal extract. The components present in the extract act as the reduction and stabilization agents for the synthesis of CuNPs. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by using UVVIS, FTIR, XRD and SEM analysis. Photocatalytic degradation of two dyes (Malachite Green and Carbol fuchsin) was analysed using double beam spectroscopic analysis. Results: UV-Vis analysis indicated the presence of a peak at around 630 nm. The FT-IR analysis indicated the involvement of various biomolecules during the synthesis of nanoparticles. The structure and the conformation were elucidated using XRD and SEM showed the agglomerated form of the synthesized nanoparticles with the size range of about 60-90 nm. The synthesised copper nanoparticles were used for the degradation of malachite green and carbol fuchsin dye using photocatalytic under sunlight irradiation. UV-Vis spectral analysis indicated that synthesised copper nanoparticle act more effective in degradation of malachite green (around 95%) whereas carbol fuchsin showed a maximum degradation by 52% therefore suggesting that CuNPs act as an efficient photocatalyst in dye degradation. Conclusion: The results obtained from this study indicate that rose extract has the potential of synthesis of copper nanoparticles which is non-toxic and convenient approach as compared to physical and chemical synthesis. These nanoparticles can be effectively employed as dye decolourisation agents to treat industrial effluent and prevent environmental pollution.

Porous Composite Bifunctional Membranes for Lithium‐Ion Battery Separator and Photocatalytic Degradation Applications: Toward Multifunctionality for Circular Economy

Circular Economy In the context of circular economy concepts, the use/re-use of multifunctional materials emerges as a needed approach for a sustainable future. In article number 2100046, Carlos M. Costa, Senentxu Lanceros-Mendez, and co-workers, report on the development of hybrid PVDF-TrFE/TiO2 membranes for lithium-ion battery and photocatalytic degradation applications. The membranes are proven to be suitable for both applications and the applicability of the multifunctional membranes in the context of a circular economy and sustainable approaches is also demonstrated.

Cost Effective Solvothermal Method to Synthesize Zn-Doped TiO2 Nanomaterials for Photovoltaic and Photocatalytic Degradation Applications

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a commonly used wide bandgap semiconductor material for energy and environmental applications. Although it is a promising candidate for photovoltaic and photocatalytic applications, its overall performance is still limited due to low mobility of porous TiO2 and its limited spectral response. This limitation can be overcome by several ways, one of which is doping that could be used to improve the light harvesting properties of TiO2 by tuning its bandgap. TiO2 doped with elements, such as alkali-earth metals, transition metals, rare-earth elements, and nonmetals, were found to improve its performance in the photovoltaic and photocatalytic applications. Among the doped TiO2 nanomaterials, transition metal doped TiO2 nanomaterials perform efficiently by suppressing the relaxation and recombination of charge carriers and improving the absorption of light in the visible region. This work reports the possibility of enhancing the performance of TiO2 towards Dye Sensitised Solar Cells (DSSCs) and photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) by employing Zn doping on TiO2 nanomaterials. Zn doping was carried out by varying the mole percentage of Zn on TiO2 by a facile solvothermal method and the synthesized nanomaterials were characterised. The XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) studies confirmed the presence of anatase phase of TiO2 in the synthesized nanomaterials, unaffected by Zn doping. The UV-Visible spectrum of Zn-doped TiO2 showed a red shift which could be attributed to the reduced bandgap resulted by Zn doping. Significant enhancement in Power Conversion Efficiency (PCE) was observed with 1.0 mol% Zn-doped TiO2 based DSSC, which was 35% greater than that of the control device. In addition, it showed complete degradation of MB within 3 h of light illumination and rate constant of 1.5466×10−4s−1 resembling zeroth order reaction. These improvements are attributed to the reduced bandgap energy and the reduced charge recombination by Zn doping on TiO2.

Green chemical approach for the synthesis of SnO2 nanoparticles and its application in photocatalytic degradation of Eriochrome Black T dye

In this paper, SnO2 nanoparticles (SnO2-NPs) were synthesized by a simple and green sol-gel route which had involved the usage of chitosan at different temperatures for performing polymerization and proceed with certain factors such as increasing the stability, preventing aggregation, and reducing the toxicity of particles. The obtained SnO2-NPs have been investigated through the means of FTIR, TGA/DTA, XRD, EDX/FESEM, TEM, and UV-Vis analyses. The spherical shape of these nanoparticles has been exhibited by the FESEM images, while the XRD studies have confirmed their tetragonal crystalline structure that had contained an average size of 25.6 nm. As the next steps, the photocatalytic activity of SnO2-NPs was evaluated the in regards to the degradation of Eriochrome Black T (EBT) dye under irradiation of mercury vapor lamp (500 W) for 270 min and degradation percentage has been estimated about 77%.

Tragacanth gum mediated green fabrication of mesoporous titania nanomaterials: Application in photocatalytic degradation of crystal violet

Water remediation is a crucial subject in present century. Hence, several processes have been used for this aim, which the photodegradation method with high activity, cost-effectiveness, and durability has been remarkable. In this project, the various novel mesoporous Titania nanomaterials (MTN) were green synthesized using Tragacanth gum as coupling agent. The effect of calcination times on the crystalline structure of the resulted MTNs was examined. MTNs displayed the dramatically specific surface area with negative surface charge and nano-sheet structure, and they applied for photodegradation of crystal violet under ultraviolet irradiation due to proper band gaps energy. The obtained MTN in 8 h calcination time (MTN-8) showed the best photoreduction activity. Also, the superoxide radicals, electrons, and hole pairs represented the main degradation agents as the reduction rate of crystal violet. Next, the transformation pathways were proposed, which could be transformation singlet oxygen addition, hydroxyl addition, and N-demethylation reactions.

Porous Composite Bifunctional Membranes for Lithium‐Ion Battery Separator and Photocatalytic Degradation Applications: Toward Multifunctionality for Circular Economy

Circular economy paradigms will benefit materials with multifunctional properties allowing to be implemented in more than one application, after processed, or in one application after already being used in another. In this context, membranes based on TiO2/poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐trifluoroethylene) (PVDF‐TrFE) with different filler contents were prepared for battery and photocatalytic degradation of pollutants by a temperature‐induced phase separation process (TIPS). It has been shown that the morphological, thermal and mechanical properties, porosity, contact angle, the ionic conductivity and lithium transference number are dependent on the TiO2 content. The membranes with 10 wt% TiO2 content show an ionic conductivity of 0.59 mS cm−1, lithium transference number of 0.72, discharge capacity of 128 mAh g−1 and low capacity fade (17%) at 2C. Further, this membrane presents a high photocatalytic response, being able to be used for ciprofloxacin remediation from water after 300 min of exposure to UV. Further, a second life was confirmed for this membrane by being implemented as a lithium ion battery separator after its use for water remediation applications. This work explores a new concept for the efficient use of the same membranes in very different applications, demonstrating the multifunctionality of the material in the scope of the circular economy paradigm.

Plant Mediated Synthesis of CdS Nanoparticles, their characterization and application for photocatalytic degradation of toxic organic dye

In this work, environmentally friendly and cheap method for the synthesis of CdS nanoparticles for the first time using extract of Dicliptera Roxburghiana is presented. The present method is found to be reproducible and rapid. Structural analysis is carried out by UV-visible, FTIR, XRD, EDX, SEM, and TEM. XRD and TEM analysis revealed that the nanoparticles have spherical shape and size in the range of 2.5-8nm. FTIR studies showed the presence of functional groups which belong to the phytochemicals of plant extract that surrounds the nanoparticle preventing them from agglomeration. Thus the prepared CdS NPs exhibit excellent stability even after 2 months. The optical band gap was calculated using Tauc Plot i.e. 3.31 eV. Their activity as photocatalysts against an aqueous solution of methylene blue degradation under solar irradiation in a comparative manner is also reported and the particle has a % degradation of 87.12% in just 120 minutes under solar light irradiation.

Nickel sulfide impregnated on natural phosphate: characterization and applications in photocatalytic degradation of indigocarmine dye

Synthesis of nickel sulfide (NiS2) impregnated on natural phosphate NP (NP) via a simple co-precipitation ultrasonic-assisted method was reported in this study for elimination of a toxic anionic dye (Indigo carmine), different NiS2-doped NP photocatalysts containing different doping ratios were also tested, characterization techniques were employed to identify NiS2/NP structure (XRD), functional groups (FTIR) and morphology (SEM/EDAX). The characterization results showed successful impregnation of nickel sulfide nanoparticles onto natural phosphate. The material exhibited efficient photocatalytic performance under visible light irradiation for the removal of Indigo Carmin dye reaching 99% at doping ratios of 10 to 1 and 10 to 2. A possible photocatalytic mechanism was proposed to understand the photocatalytic behavior of NiS2/NP. The prepared catalyst appeared to have good adequacy with the kinetic model proposed by Langmuir–Hinshelwood, it also showed excellent reusability.

Preparation of Ti-Nb-Fe-O Nanotubes on Ti10NbxFe Alloy and the Application for Photocatalytic Degradation under Solar Irradiation

Highly oriented and self-ordered titanium-niobium-iron mixed oxide nanotubes were synthesized by anodizing Ti10NbxFe alloys in ethylene glycol electrolytes containing NH4F and water at 20 °C. The nanostructure morphologies were found to depend closely on the nature of the alloy substrates. The results demonstrate the possibility of growing mixed oxide nanotubes possessing several-micrometer-thick layers by a simple and straightforward electrochemical route. The methylene blue degradation rate of fabricated Ti-Nb-Fe-O nanotubes increased by 33% compared to TiO2 nanotubes and TiO2 nanoparticle films under solar irradiation. The combination of the gully-like morphology and the rich defects introduced by Nb and Fe co-doping in Ti-Nb-Fe-O mixed nanotube oxides was demonstrated to be beneficial for enhanced photocatalytic degradation performance. Ti-Nb-Fe-O nanotubes can achieve effective photodegradation without secondary pollution with more reusability than powder photocatalysts.

Green synthesis of Fe nanoparticles by using Mangifera indica extract and its application in photo-catalytic degradation of dyes.

An exceedingly facile green approach that produces a reliable adsorbent based on a transition metal such as Iron (Fe) using Mangifera indica leaf extract at room temperature is described. A single pot method was used for synthesis with no capping agents, surfactants or other templates. The main intention of this study is to synthesize iron nanoparticles from leaf extract (Mangifera indica) and examine its degradation potential for photo-catalytic removal of dyes (Congo red and brilliant green) from wastewater. Characterization of synthesized nanoparticles was executed by pHpzc, scanning electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy studies and results confirm the presence of iron nano-sheets with biomolecules. All photo-catalytic experimental results were assessed by sum of squared estimate of errors and simple linear regression R2 with dye concentration, pH, contact time and dose rate as dependent and independent variables. Adsorption experimental data was verified by kinetics and isothermal models. Results showed that Langmuir and pseudo second order models give best fitness towards the photo-catalytic adsorption procedure. Thermodynamics revealed that adsorption mechanism is endothermic, described by the values of changes in Gibbs free energy, enthalpy and entropy, and is chemisorption in nature, with spontaneous processes. Overall photo-catalytic adsorption execution with synthesized iron nanoparticles and simple biomass of Mangifera indica gives satisfactory results for treating dye wastewater.
