Empowering Farmer’s Wife Makes Catfish Feed (Pellet) in Nagari Limau Gadang Pesisir Selatan District, Indonesia

The life of Nagari Limau Gadang, Pesisir Selatan District, West Sumatra, Indonesia is poor. They conduct economic activities in Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS), so that TNKS become damaged. Catfish farming can serve as the main effort to increase family income. Economically catfish farming is very profitable. Catfish farming is not difficult and can be done by farmers who do not usually cultivate freshwater fish. The right family member is empowered to improve the family economy through the cultivation of catfish is the farmer's wife. Farmers' wives in Nagari Limau Gadang tend not to improve the family economically, they play the role of taking care of children, doing housework and sometimes delivering food to the fields and to the fields. How to research, selected 20 poor farmer’s wife, then trained to make ponds and pellets. The pool made are the main pond, spawning pond, nursery pool and pond enlargement. Pellet made from raw trash fish, quail feces, fine bran and cassava. The pellet formulation is made of 4 kinds. Each formulation produces a quality pellet. Based on laboratory test produced pellet contains very good nutrition for enlargement catfish. The nutritional range of protein is 21,79%-34,60%, fat is 1,95%-2,32% and carbohydrate is 26,55%-39,65%. The goal to be achieved in this research is for the wife of farmers can contribute to improve the family economy. Specific targets to be achieved in this study is the wife of skilled farmers cultivate catfish.

INCOME DISTRIBUTION INEQUALITY IN WEST SUMATERA AND THE RELATED FACTORS

Causal relationship between inequality and growth is far from being well understood. In West Sumatera the higher level of growth rate followed by an increasing in Gini ratio or increasing in income inequality. A sharp rise of income inequality has caused discussion about factors affecting inequality. Objectives of this research are to analyze income inequality condition in each Regency/Municipality in West Sumatera and to analyze the factors affecting income inequality. Through the calculation of the Gini ratio, it was found that the highest income distribution inequality in Regency/Municipality level in West Sumatra from 2006 to 2011 are owned by the Mentawai Islands District with an average Gini ratio is 0.311, while the lowest income distribution inequality of the average owned by the Pesisir Selatan District with an average Gini ratio is 0.217. This research is investigated by analyzing a balance panel data with 19 districts from 2006 to 2011. This study found that there are seven variables which can be associated with a movement in income inequality. Income per capita, routine spending for government officials and dummy earthquake have a positive relationship with income distribution inequality. Meanwhile, industrial sector’s share toward Gross Regional Domestic Products (GRDP), government spending for development program, number of workers in industry and population growth have negative impact.Key words: income distribution, inequality, earthquake, west sumatera

Kemas Ulang Informasi Permainan Tradisional Minangkabau di Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan

The writing of this paper is motivated by the absence of a special source of information about mnangkabau traditional game in pesisir selatan district. The purpose of this research is to introduce traditional games to the upcoming young generation and to design traditional minangkabau game information packs in pesisir selatan district. The method used in writing this paper is a descriptive method with data collection techniques through observation ann interview. The processof design stage of making the repacking box is: a) identification user needs, b) conducting inspection of information collection and selection of information resources, c) choose sources that countain useful information values, d) evaluate the validity of the information, e) review, analyze, extract information into the form of more effective and efficient information for the user, f) repacking the information into an interesting book form with the intention that every information user can be interested and eager to read for all ages, h) disseminate information by way of promotion starting from the library, social media, brochures and so on.

ANALISIS PEMETAAN WILAYAH KABUPATEN DAN KOTA DI SUMATERA BARAT BERDASARKAN BELANJA MODAL, PERTUMBUHAN EKONOMI DAN KEMISKINAN

The aims of this research to mapping of the region in West Sumatera Province based on capital expenditure with economic growth and capital expenditure with poverty, this research is descriptive analysis which is described in the form of quadrant table and klassen tripology analysis, where grouping based on capital expenditure with economic growth yields that from in 2011 to 2016 the district / city average in West Sumatra is in the worst quadrant of the fourth group, where capital expenditure is low and low economic growth is Pesisir Selatan District, Sijunjung Regency, Tanah Datar Regency, Padang Pariaman Regency, Agam Regency, Pasaman, South Solok District and Pariaman City. Furthermore, grouping based on capital expenditure with poverty resulted that from 2011 to 2016 the average of Regency / city in West Sumatera was in the first group I quadrant not yet ideal, where high capital expenditure has not been able to reduce poverty level such as Mentawai Islands Regency, Pesisir Selatan Regency, 50 Kota Regency, Pasaman Regency, Pasaman Barat Regency.

17. Knowledge of Understanding the Relationship of Sexual desire’s Symptoms of Lust with the Success of Artificial Insemination on Cattle Farmer at the Lengayang subdistrict, Pesisir Selatan district, West Sumatera

This study aimed to find out the understanding of cattle farmer in Lengayang, Pesisir Selatan West Sumatera about the relation of sexual desire symptom with the success rate of artificial insemination on cattle. The respondents of this study were the cattle farmer on Lengayang base on the result of the method of this study was field survey. The data were collected interview the farmer using structural questioner form. The data consist of secondary and primary data. The secondary data were obtained from Animal Husbandry departement and Animal Health on Pesisir Selatan. Data were analyzed descriptively. Result showed that from 100 respondents there were 15 respondents from Lakitan village, 16 respondent from East Lakitan, 14 respondents from East Kambang, 35 respondents from West Kambang, 9 respondents from Kambang and 11 respondents from North Kambang. Based on the study result the level of farmers knowledge about understanding relation sexual desire the symptoms with the success of artificial insemination in cattle is 2% excellent, 33% good, 56% fairly good and 9%. Less Good. Based on Regression test formal education, non-formal education and experience effect of to the knowledge of the success of artificial insemination 6.6%

Gambier is thespecific commodity of West Sumatra. The research was aimed to find a description of gambier agribusiness, potential and constraint to improve and increase productivity and farmer income. This research on the profile of gambier agribusiness was done on March-October 2015 in Limapuluh and Pesisir Selatan District as the central produce of gambier in West Sumatra. The survey used for data collecting from 30 farmers and 10 merchants according to its level selected at random. Data were analyzed using descriptive, marketing system and economics analysis. The results showed that planted area of gambier increased but production have fluctuation from year to year. Cultivation technology of gambier very simple and without fertilizing. Productivity is 0.70 t/ha/yr. Gambier were exported to various state especially India, Pakistan and Singapore. Price and quality of gambier determined by the merchant. Nationally market compartment export gambier from West Sumatra more than 70.0%. The share of farmer price is 43.1% less than margin share about 56.9%, its mean marketing system inefficient. Profit of gambier is low because ofhight cost of processing, but still feasible with B/C=1.53. Suggest to policy maker and farmer to: (i) Push the growing micro and small industry to produce secondary product of gambier; (ii) Improve of subsystem produce through applying of innovation, development of appliance simple innovation to processe of gambier; (iii) Farmer group alliance institution (gapoktan) pushed to grow marketing unit and warehouse scrip certificate system by exploiting fund in Micro Financial Institution of Agribusiness (MFI-A) and village funds. Short Communication: Identification of Growth Hormone gene polymorphism for beef cattle in Pesisir Selatan District, West Sumatra, Indonesia

Biodiversitas 17: 711-715. This study aimed to determine gene polymorphism of growth hormone of domestic cattle in Pesisir Selatan District of West Sumatra. The research was conducted at Laboratory of Animal Genetics and Breeding Faculty of Animal Science, UGM from August 2013 to January 2014. Blood samples were collected from 66 individuals consist of 15 Pesisir cattle, 15 SimPes cattle, 15 SimPO cattle, 15 Bali cattle and 6 PO cattle. DNA was extracted from each blood samples after SDS-proteinase K digestion, and used for PCR-amplification for a region of growth hormone gene (211 bp), and then the PCR products were analyzed for restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) using AluI restriction enzyme. The results showed that GH gene of Pesisir, PO and Bali cattle are monomorphic, which frequencies of L allele was1.00 and V allele was 0.000 while these LL genotype was 1.000. Frequency of L and V alleles in SimPO and SimPes cattle were 0.634, 0.366 and 0.700, 0.300, respectively. SimPO and SimPes cattle were polymorphic, LL and LV of SimPO cattle was 0.733 and 0.267 as well as SimPes cattle which LL and LV was 0.600 and 0.400, respectively. The correlation between genotype and the performance (body weight and body size) was not significant. The present study indicates that polymorphism of growth hormone gene in AluI site could not yet be used as a molecular marker for body weight and body size of beef cattle.

Prototype of Improved Green Neo-Local West Sumatera Stove for Boiling Gambir (Uncaria Gambir Roxb.)

Study of Local West Sumatera Stove performances to boil gambir in Pesisir Selatan district showed the results that heat transfer efficiency is 11.6 %, very simple in operation but short service life, indoor pollution due to smoke and burnt risk are high because of no chimney and hot flue gas temperature is still higher than 200 0C, very cheap in construction, and environmentally causes impact on local deforestation. This paper attempted to design, construct, and run a set of combustion test to NWS Stove for boiling gambir using mixture of biomass fuel of fire-wood, palm fiber and shell. It was made of river stones and consists of two main parts, namely combustion chamber with grate for biomass fuel bed and its pot and flue gas heat utilization. Water Boiling Test was conducted with the height of grate of 25 to 45 cm from the floor, natural or forced convection air underneath the grate, damper between combustion chamber and flue gas channel to the chimney was 10 to 20 cm height opened, and kinds and mixtures of biomass with any quantitative proportion. The result shows that the stove is green and saves the fire-wood fuel 70% or more. It also shows performances as follow: higher heat transfer efficiency, namely up to 18.78%; very simple in operation and long service life; gives more benefits in health and safety; needs higher capital investment but low operational cost. Additionally, temperature profiles show that adjustable grate with distance to cooking pot not more than 25 cm probably plays an important role in effective heat transfer.

FAKTOR PEMICU DAN PENENTU KELAYAKAN PEMEKARAN WILAYAH DI SUMATERA BARAT (Pendekatan Sosial dan Ekonomi)

This study aims to analyze the socio-economic conditions as a trigger factor and determining the feasibility of splitting of district and municipalities in West Sumatra. This study uses weighting and scores for each of the socio-economic variables. Based on the analysis, there is potential for expansion in the 7 (seven) district in West Sumatra, this occurs most likely driven by the extent of the area owned, so that public services received by the public to be less than the maximum. Besides the area factor here too there are ethnic differences in factors (culture) which can promote regional expansion. Of the seven districts that have the possibility of splitting the area when viewed in terms of feasibility level, the Pesisir Selatan District and District Sijunjung have a very viable category in terms of ability and local financial and human resources quality, while four other districts get qualify for the split.

Profil Populasi Sapi Pesisir Di Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan Sumatera Barat

The purpose of the present study was to estimate the population characteristics of the Pesisir cattle in Pesisir Selatan district of the West Sumatera province. Purposive sampling procedure was used to collect data from 484 farmers rearing about 1341 Pesisir cattle in Pesisir Selatan. The data were statistically analyzed descriptively. Results of the study showed that ratio of male to female was 1 : 7. The population was dominated by females with the age of more than 3 years (35,72%), while the lowest (0.89%) was the male at more than 3 years of age. The rate of calving, calving percentage, and percent of died were 24.09%, 49.85%, and 1,98%, respectively.
