Professional Commitment of First Grade College Teachers in Karnataka

Global education system has tremendous impact on changes in all aspects of development. Nothing is stagnant in this global world and every country is running behind sustainability and progression. In this phenomena, education system is one of the major key indicator to evaluate the country’s development and the education system does not remain static/constant. It is a dynamic process in which many rapid changes emerge from time to time according to the requirement of the country’s progress. Education is the bed rock for a healthy and progressive society, the transmission of knowledge, skills and application of these aspects could be learnt through education system. The variables used in this study are Self appraisal, Salary, awards and rewards, performance appraisal, Department Climate, Infrastructure In Terms Of Library, Psychological Advantage, Professional Development And Higher Studies, Locational disadvantage, Infrastructure.This study has designed to evaluate professional commitment of first grade college teachers, the study covers total 800 respondents (permanent Commerce teachers) from all six regions, 400 respondents (permanent Commerce teachers) from Rural colleges and 400 permanent Commerce teachers from city colleges in Karnataka. Out of the 800 respondents 623 respondents have responded, thus making the response rate as 77.86 per cent. Simple linear regression model is used to analyse the data (SPSS 19.0).

The Effect of Affective Commitment to Teacher Performance Moderated by Certification Allowance

The background of this research comes from the phenomenon of demanding age that requires the education sector produces superior and competitive human resources to face industrial revolution 4.0. One of an effort to be taken is through vocational formal education. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of affective commitment to vocational permanent teacher performance of government school technology and engineering in Bandung Metropolitan moderated by certification allowance. The population in this study were all permanent teachers of government vocational school in Bandung Metropolitan who already had professional teacher certification. The sampling technique used is ‘cluster proportional random sampling’ based on the cluster region, using statistical testing methods. The research method uses descriptive survey and explanatory survey, using descriptive and verification analysis. The samples were 185 of 342 respondents / certified teacher. The results of the study show there is effect of affective commitment on teacher performance was 63.8%. Furthermore, the effect of affective commitment on teacher performance moderated by certification allowance was 68.8%.

ANALYSIS OF BEGINNING TEACHER TEACHING PROGRAM IN INCREASING THE PROFESSIONALISM COMPETENCE OF MADRASAH IBTIDAIYAH TEACHER EDUCATION IBN KHALDUN UNIVERSITY ALUMNI IN PRIMARY EDUCATION

The purpose of this study is, the first to analyze the implementation of mentoring programs for beginner teachers who are alumni of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education Ibn Khaldun University who have worked in basic education institutions in the city of Bogor. Second, it describes the influence of the mentoring program on improving the professional competence of beginner teachers. Third, good communication and kinship between alumni and alma mater is established. The research method used is mix methods (qualitative and quantitative). Data collection in this study uses interviews, observation, focus group discussions, and scale. The object of this research is Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education Ibn Khaldun University alumni who work in Bogor in different basic education institutions, namely public elementary schools, Private Madrasah Ibtidaiyah and Islamic Elementary School, which are honorary and permanent teachers. The conclusion of the result of this study is the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education Ibn Khaldun University alumni assistance program is proven to improve teacher professionalism competencies which include six indicators, those are the application of science, work productivity, innovation, problem solving, work environment adaptation, responsiveness of students' needs. And tighten the fabric of communication between alumni and nature.

Pengaruh Kompetensi Kepribadian dan Kompetensi Sosial terhadap Pelaksanaan Supervisi Akademik Pengawas Sekolah Menengah Atas

This study aims to determine personality competence, social competence and academic supervision of high school supervisors as well as the influence of personality and social competencies on the implementation of academic supervision conducted by high school supervisors. The type of research is ex post facto research. The study population was all permanent teachers with the status of civil servants (PNS) in State High Schools in Luwu Regency. The study sample consisted of 152 teachers obtained by the proportional simple random sampling technique. The data of this study were collected using the personality and social competency instruments of the supervisor and the implementation of academic supervision in the form of questionnaires with a Likert scale model. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results of the study indicate that: (1) the competence of personality and social competence of high school supervisors is in the very high and high category, and the implementation of supervisory academic supervision in high schools is in the good category. (2) The supervisory personality and social competencies in high school together have a positive effect on the supervisory academic supervision, and (3) Personality competency and supervisory social competence each have a positive influence on the implementation of supervisory academic supervision in high school.

Analysis on Brand Preference and Loyalty of Physical Education and Sports Teachers

The purpose of this study is to determine the factors affecting brand preference and loyalty of physical education and sports teachers and to analyse it according to the demographic characteristics. The research population is composed of 265 physical education teachers working in Elazig province. The research sample is composed of 158 male and 39 female as a total of 197 voluntary physical education teachers working in Elazig province in 2016-2017 academic year. As a data collection tool, Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher and Brand Preference and Loyalty Scale developed by Cifci were used. Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis H tests among the statistical analyses were used and p<0.05 was accepted as the significance level. In conclusion, high preference of physical education teachers with an income level of 2001-2500 TL for branded product and the low level loyalty of physical education teachers with a bachelor degree for branded products were significant. It has been observed that the physical education teachers working as permanent teachers in public schools consider brand and quality equal and they attach importance to the quality in preferring branded products. It has been determined that the higher the demand for branded products is, the higher the income level becomes. The brands of Adidas, Nike and Hummel have been found to be preferred more.

This reduction will intensify in the coming decade (2017–2026). Forty-three percent of the permanent faculty will retire, as will 55% of the faculty linked to clinical areas, 34% of the faculty not linked to clinical areas and 32% of the faculty of basic areas. This deficit is significant now, and, in a few years, the situation will be unsustainable, especially in the clinical areas. This report reveals the pressing need to adopt urgent measures to alleviate the present situation and prevent a greater problem. The training of future physicians, immediately responsible for the health of our society, depends largely on the theoretical and practical training taught in medical schools, with the essential collaboration of healthcare institutions. Paradoxically, while the number of teachers decreases substantially, there is an exponential increase in the number of medical schools and students who are admitted every year without academic or healthcare justification.

Teacher Training in Secondary Education of Greece- A General Approach

Teacher Education and Training became more organized and targeted, treated by the Greek State, in the last half of the previous century. The Low 1566/1985 introduced firstly mandatory forms of training for teachers of Primary and Secondary Education which could carrying out by various organizations and Bodies, of many specialties and forms, in many places, with variety of content, methodologies and trainers. With this law, the Schools of Training for Primary and Secondary Teachers were initially established to offer yearly training to the teachers in scientific, didactic and pedagogical issues.In the last 25 years, the 16 Regional Training Centers had the duty to download and decentralize the educational policies to the regions of Greece, to the newly appointed and permanent teachers. According to the Presidential Decree 250/1992, the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs may assign to the Pedagogical Institute or to a research institution the evaluation of the training work of the Regional Training Centers, at national level. The results of surveys on the efficiency of the training programs and the satisfaction of the Trainers have not published and discussed thoroughly. In the last 5 years, since the Ministry of Education has applied only three short-term Seminars guided, centrally designed and directed, less than 1000 School Advisors have shouldered the full weight of the Primary and Secondary teachers’ training all over the Country, those the abolishment has been announced, without any evaluation report for their work.

Sistem Pendukung Keputusan Pengangkatan Guru Tetap Menerapkan Metode Weight Aggregated Sum Product Assesment (WASPAS)

Evaluation of honorary teachers is an activity that is generally high school or vocational. It is useful to know the results of teaching honorary teachers to their students. Assessment, evaluation and rewarding can be done to spur the performance of the teachers in teaching and learning process so as to improve teacher achievement, the assessment is done to obtain the honorable teachers who will be appointed as permanent teachers. In determining the order of permanent appointment of teachers, it often appears subjective from the decision-makers, so that there are problems and this causes the difficulty in determining prospective teachers. To determine the recommendation of the teacher can still be used the method of Weight Aggregated Sum Production Assessment (WASPAS). WASPAS method can be used to process the honorarium of honor teachers with the criteria that have been determined.

FINANCIAL COMPENSATION HAS A HUGE IMPACT TO NON-PERMANENT TEACHER’S (GTT) WORKING PRODUCTIVITY IN SMP N 2 JEMBER

This article research entitled " Financial compensation has a huge impact to NonPermanent Teacher’s working productivity (GTT) in SMP N 2 Jember". This study attemps to analyze and examine the impact and the effect of financial compensation on the level of productivity of Non-Permanent Teachers (GTT) of SMP N 2 Jember, either simultaneously or partially. This research belongs to explanatory research survey. The location of this research is SMP N 2 Jember. The Independent variable in this study is financial compensation (X) which consist of salary (X1), courses allowances (X2) and overtime wages (X3), while the dependent variable in this is work productivity of employee (Y). The Population in this research are all non permanent teachers (GTT) at SMP N 2 Jember which also become the sample. To analize the data, the researcher uses SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution) version 10. Based on the results of the data, it is known that financial compensation (salary, courses allowances and overtime wages) are significant and has a very important role to incourage the productivity of Non-Permanent Teachers (GTT) in SMP Negeri 2 Jember either partially or simultaneously. In the partial test results which were proved by the score of t-count of each independent variable that are salary, courses allowances and overtime wages are higher than its t-table, so Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. The effective contribution of the three variable financial compensation (salary, courses allowances and overtime wages) to the productivity of Non-Permanent Teachers (GTT) in SMP Negeri 2 Jember is also very large at 96.0% in the courses allowances variable as the most dominant variable. The conclusion is there are strong and significant impact of financial compensation towards work productivity of non permanent teachers in SMP N 2 Jember. So that to increase the work productivity, hence financial compensation must be balanced and must be improved also.

The study aims to obtain empirical evidence of the differences in the effectiveness of work on several aspects, including preparing and planning learning activities, the implementation of public administration, responsibility, and task. The study was carried out between the two groups, which were permanent and nonpermanent teachers in Muhamamdiyah Metro Elementary School. The research was conducted in Muhammadiyah Metro Elementary School, Metro Center, Metro City of Lampung Province. The duration of the study was five months during February to June 2016 in the even semester of the 2015/2016 School Year. The ex-post facto method was used in this research. The population in this study was the teachers of Muhmmadiyah Metro Elementary School. The sample used originated from two group which were: The permanent teacher and the nonpermanent teacher. The sample was taken based on the quota of each sample of 7 people with the total sample amounting to 14 people. Data collection on the effectiveness of teacher work was done using the assessment sheet by the school principal. The data of the research were analyzed using the nonparametric statistical technique, Mann Whitney test. The conclusions obtained in this study are: There is a significant difference between the effectiveness of work between permanent teachers and non-permanent teachers on the aspects of preparing and planning the learning activities; there is no significant difference in the effectiveness of work between permanent and non-permanent teachers on the aspects of general administration implementation; and there was no significant difference in the effectiveness of work between permanent teachers and non-permanent teachers on the aspects of responsibility and duties. Investigation of Science And Art Center Teachers’ Perception of Self-Efficacy

This research is aimed to determine the perception of self-efficiency of the teachers working in Science and Art Centers. Whether opinions of teachers show diversity according to their gender, working styles, ages, professional seniorities, graduation levels and numbers of service trainings about education of talented students or not was regarded as secondary aim of this research. Then, the opinions of the teachers were evaluated according to independent variables. This research that aimed to investigate the percepions of the teachers working in Science and Art Centers according to various variables was an observational study. “Teacher self efficiency scale” which was developed by Senemoğlu (2006) was used in our research and research data were collected by the help of this scale. The research data was evaluated with SPSS statistics program and analyzed by using statistical techniques like frequency, percentage, arithmetical average, standard derivation, t-test, One Way Anova, Turkey HSD test and Kruskall Wallis.Population of this study was the teachers who worked at Science and Art Centers in 2014-2015 school year (579 teachers). The sample consisted of 250 teachers who worked at Science and Art Centers of administrative provinces of Turkey: Gaziantep, Adana, Mersin, Kahramanmaraş, Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa, Nevşehir, Van, Hatay, Bartın, Balıkesir, Kars, Rize, Ankara, Konya, Kastamonu and Kayseri. According to the research, it was found that the level of self efficiency perception of teachers who worked at Science and Art Center was at average level, the level of self efficiency perception of teachers didn’t show significant difference according to their gender, the level of self efficiency perception of permanent teachers was more higher than teachers who were not permanent. Some suggestions were put forward under the light of these findings.

Job Satisfaction and Occupational Stress among Permanent and Temporary School Teachers

Aim of the Study: 1.To search the job satisfaction among permanent and temporary school teachers. 2. To examine the occupational stress among permanent and temporary school teachers. 3. To find out the negative correlation found between job satisfaction and occupational stress among school teachers. Hypotheses: 1. there is no significant difference between among permanent and temporary school teachers dimension on job satisfaction. 2. There is no significant difference between among permanent and temporary school teachers dimension on occupational stress. 3. There is negative correlation between job satisfaction and occupational stress among school teachers. Sample: Total 120 school teachers were selected. Among them 60 among permanent school teachers and 60 among temporary school teachers. The age range of school teachers were 20 to 30 years (M =26.45, SD = 5.78). Non-probability purposive sampling was used. Tools 1. Teacher Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (TJSQ): (1996) this scale was constructed and standardized by Dr. Pramod Kumar and D. N. Mutha. Occupational Stress Index (OSI): This scale was constructed and standardize by Dr. A. K. Srivastava and A. P. Singh. Variable: Independent variable: Type of School Teacher a) among permanent b) temporary. Dependent Variable: 1. Job Satisfaction 2. Occupational Stress Conclusion: 1. permanent school teachers found significantly high job satisfaction than the temporary school teachers. 2. Temporary school teachers found significantly high occupational stress than the temporary school teachers.3. There is negative correlation found between job satisfaction and occupational stress among school teachers.

Teacher Resilience in Remote Islands Area: A Case Study in Small Pagerungan Island Sumenep Regency, Indonesia

This study aims to describe resilience teacher at Elementary school III at Small Pagerungan Island. Aspects of resilience in this study are phase of resilience refers to Patterson Kelleher (2005) and the strategy of resilience refers to Diah Pradna (2012). This type of research is descriptive qualitative with case study approach. The subjects were 5 teachers (Subject I: government employee (PNS) teachers senior and immigrant from Java, Subject II: government employee (PNS) teachers senior natives, subject III: temporary teacher who has taught more than 10 years, Subject IV: new civil servant teachers a few years removed, and subject V: new no permanent teachers who teach less than 5 years). Data collected through in-depth interviews with each subject of study. Analysis of data using thematic analysis approach hybrid refers to Fereday Muir-Cochrane version. The results showed that the phase of resilience to be taken by each teacher is different. Subjects I and II has reached growing phase. Subject IV and V are still at the stage of deteriorating phase, while the subject III only at adapting phase. Subjects I and II have an optimistic view and gave rise to 7 points strategy of resilience, which is a positive attitude to face difficulties, focusing on the core value, versatile in the running for the purpose, willing to take concrete steps to face difficulties, create conditions of self and supportive environment, maintain hope and expectation is high, and develop an attitude of participation and responsibility. Subject IV and V are relatively more optimistic, but because the teaching experience is still limited cause-point strategy of resilience that appears only reached 4, which is flexible in an effort to achieve goals, create conditions of self and supportive environment, maintain hope and expectation is high, and develop an attitude of participation and responsibility. Subject III is more pessimistic and pragmatic look at the future of the profession so that a strategy of resilience that comes only three, namely flexible in an effort to achieve the goal, to create the conditions themselves and a supportive environment, and develop an attitude of participation and responsibility. Point’s resilience strategy that appears, consciously or not by the fifth subject, has been assisting survive to teach at Elementary school III Small Pagerungan Island belonging to the category of remote schools, schools with limited resources, and minimal attention from government.

Quest for Teacher Effectiveness Parameters

Teacher effectiveness is the capacity of teachers to perform their duties optimally and achieve desired educational goals and standards. The purpose of this study was to establish the factors influencing teacher effectiveness and quality education in public and private secondary schools in the north rift region. To establish factors that influence the effectiveness of teachers, the study employed descriptive research design, which entailed the collection of data using questionnaires observations and interviews. The target populations for the study were teachers and head teachers in selected public and private secondary schools. Stratified sampling method was used in the selection of permanent and temporary teachers, whereas purposive sampling method was used in the selection of head teachers. The study sampled 22 temporary teachers from the private schools and 100 teachers from public schools, where 13 were temporary teachers and 87 were permanent teachers. Data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings showed that a myriad of parameters gravitate around the teacher effectiveness concept and the earlier these parameters are isolated and teased out the better for the education fraternity. The study therefore recommends that parameters such administration, teachers, students, and classroom be leveraged to improve teacher effectiveness in both public and private secondary schools.

Psychological Wellbeing among Permanent and Sahayak School Teachers

Aim of the research is to find out the Psychological Well being among Permanent and Sahayak School Teachers. So investigator selected two groups one is male school teachers and other is female school teachers, both groups have 160 peoples. In each group has 80 permanent school teachers other one groups has 80 Sahayak school teachers. Data were collected from Anand Taluka. Scale was use for data collection is personal datasheet and Psychological wellbeing scale developed by Bhogale and Prakash (1995), 2×2 factorial design was used and data were analysis by ‘F’ test. Result show, Sex had significant impact on psychological wellbeing. The female school teacher’s psychological wellbeing is better than the male school teachers. There was no significant difference of psychological well being between permanent and sahayak school teachers. There was not significant interaction effect of Types of teachers and sex on Psychological well being.

Vitamin D level and its association with adiposity among multi-ethnic adults in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: a cross sectional study.

BackgroundVitamin D deficiency is highly prevalent in both temperate as well as tropical countries. Obesity is one of the factors contributing to vitamin D deficiency. As our country has a high prevalence of overweight and obesity, we aimed to study serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) level and its association with adiposity using various adiposity indicators; and to study other risk factors that affect serum 25(OH)D level among multi-ethnic adults in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.MethodsThis was a cross sectional study conducted with a multistage sampling. All permanent teachers working in government secondary schools in Kuala Lumpur were invited for the study. The data collection included serum 25(OH)D, Parathyroid Hormone (PTH), body fat percentage, waist circumference, body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure. Demographic characteristics, sun avoidance, sun exposure and physical activity were enquired from the participants using a self-administered questionnaire. The data was analyzed using a complex sample analysis.ResultsA total of 858 participants were recruited. Majority of them were Malays, females and had tertiary education. The overall prevalence of vitamin D deficiency (<20 ng/ml) was 67.4 %. Indian participants (80.9 %) had the highest proportion of vitamin D deficiency, followed by Malays (75.6 %), others (44.9 %) and Chinese (25.1 %). There was a significant negative association between serum 25(OH)D level with BMI (β = −0.23) and body fat percentage (β = −0.14). In the multivariate linear regression analysis, Malays, Indians and females (p < 0.001); higher BMI and larger waist circumference (p < 0.05) were significantly associated with lower serum 25(OH)D level. The full model explained 32.8 % of the variation between participants in the serum 25(OH)D level. The two most influential factors affecting serum 25(OH)D level were ethnicity and gender.ConclusionsThe prevalence of vitamin D deficiency among our participants was high. Adiposity was associated with serum 25(OH)D level. Skin pigmentation and gender based behaviours were more dominant in contributing to serum 25(OH)D level. Health education should be targeted in weight management, gender based behaviours on sun exposure, as skin pigmentation is non-modifiable.

Dampak Integrative Leadership dan Employee Engagement terhadap Perilaku Extra-Role

. Organizations have long been interested in how employees think and feel about their jobs and what employees are willing to dedicate to the organization. Leadership style and employee engagement has been found to be positively related to extra-role b behavior and individual job performance. This study aims to analyze the influence of integrative leadership and employee engagement on extra-role b behavior, a case study of teacher in 27 particular high schools in Madiun, as many as 319 permanent teachers. The sampling method is quota sampling. The collection of primary data by cross sectional using questionnaires. The analysis is used multiple regression analysis. Results of multiple regression analysis showed that: 1) integrative leadership had significant and positive direct effect on extra-role behavior; 2) employee engagement had significant and positive effect on extra-role behavior.

The Relationship between Teacher Mentors' Personality Profile and Mentoring Activities Initiated

Purpose-Personality traits of an individual, is a stable indicator that reflects how people think, feel, and act in a structured and unstructured situation. If this perception is true that personality traits are stable, then they have a potential chance of predicting changes in social relationships. The way mentoring occurs is distinct for every individual and one predictable cause for the difference could be the personality traits of the mentor or mentee. However, there is very little research examining the impact of personality profile of the mentors on the mentoring experience. This study examined the influence of personality profiles of teacher mentors over the mentoring activities initiated among students in Business schools in Kerala, India. The research employed a cause-effect research design which employed 141 permanent teachers as respondents in the study. These teachers worked in regular management programs in 19 schools in Kerala that had a minimum of five year existence and the approval of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). The findings of the study revealed that the personality profile of teacher mentors positively and significantly influenced the mentoring activities initiated by them.

Impact of Transformational Leadership on Job Performance

The present study focuses on the role of leader–member exchange and relational identification (RI) between transformational leadership and job performance relationship. The model has been tested in higher education sector. All the permanent teachers working in higher education sector were contacted. The data have been duly validated with the help of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Reliability has been assessed through Cronbach’s alpha and composite reliability. Structural equation modeling (SEM) has been used for hypotheses testing, and hierarchical regression has been used to test the moderating effect of RI. The results indicated that leader–member exchange acts as a mediator and RI acts as a moderator instead of mediator. The managerial implications and future scope have been discussed.
