Cultivating Success: Unveiling the Influence of Higher Education Strategies on Information Technology Governance, Academic Excellence, and Career Prospects in Saudi Arabia

The successful implementation of effective data governance in universities is crucial in complementing the massive information technology (IT) developments in higher education institutions globally. Hence, to identify the enablers of IT governance, this study examined the effects of knowledge value, knowledge-oriented culture, and knowledge-sharing process on the integration of IT governance in the curriculum and the latter’s effects on academic performance and perceived employability among university students in Saudi Arabia. We used a cross-sectional approach to collect quantitative data from 280 university students and employed structural equation modelling and partial least squares to conduct the data analysis. Our results confirmed the significant positive effects of knowledge value and the knowledge-sharing process on IT governance, along with a positive significant effect of IT governance on academic performance and perceived employment. Moreover, the results revealed a direct, positive, and significant effect of academic performance on perceived employment, as well as the significant mediating effects of IT governance and academic performance between these two. Apart from extending the relevant literature, this study offers several policy implications.

Analisis Kinerja Tata Kelola Teknologi Informasi Menggunakan Framework Cobit 2019 Pada Universitas Muhammadiyah Jambi

An educational institution, Muhammadiyah Jambi University has integrated IT into its operational processes. Muhammadiyah Jambi University's information technology has not adjusted its governance system to achieve the greatest possible benefits from IT use and to keep advancing corporate IT governance. Consequently, in order to ensure that the corporate IT governance system at Muhammadiyah University Jambi is in line with business objectives, an IT governance plan is required. IT governance is an important asset for measuring the effectiveness and efficiency of improving a company's business processes using information technology. This study explains the way of a company can create specialized governance solutions for corporate information technology (IT) by analyzing IT governance performance using Cobit 2019 framework. The aim of this research is to analyze the performance of a system properly and provide recommendations for improving information technology governance at Muhammadiyah University Jambi. The methods are both qualitative by conducting observations, interviews, and taking work documents and quantitative methods by filling out questionnaires in 2019 Cobit design tool. The results of this research show several important processes that must be a top priority in the company, namely BAI06 (Managed IT Changes), DSS01 (Managed Operations), BAI07 (Managed IT Change Acceptance and Transitioning), BAI03 (Managed Solutions Identification & Build), DSS02 (Managed Service Requests & Incidents).

Implementation Of The Cobit 2019 Framework To Improve Information Technology Performance In Tokopedia

The COBIT framework has evolved into COBIT 2019 and is still the most widely used framework by IT auditors who use complete or customized model components to assess IT governance in an organization or company. COBIT has made it clear that to gain a complete insight into the governance model in an organization, IT auditors must incorporate organizational culture assessment into the audit approach. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the COBIT 2019 framework to improve information technology performance in Tokopedia. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach where data collection is carried out using primary and secondary data from direct observations of Tokopedia's e-commerce system through tokopedia.com pages and literature reviews from several relevant journal articles. The results showed that the results of the evaluation of the performance of information technology governance in the Tokpedia e-commerce system that focuses on the DSS (Deliver, Support, and Service) domain show that some e-commerce systems still do not fully carry out good information technology delivery, support, and services.

Governance and performance of Information Technology projects in Colombia

In this research, the performance of Information Technology (IT) projects was analyzed, evaluating if they meet the schedule, budget, objective, and customer satisfaction. A study by the Standish Group reported that for the period 2015-2020 only 35% of the projects were successful [1]. An exploratory methodology based on bibliometric analysis was used and it allowed to know global trends related to governance and project performance. Also, a quantitative methodology was implemented for structuring the model of factors and variables. With the information obtained from the Colombian universities, a factorial analysis was carried out and a statistical model of linear equations was built that characterized the behavior of corporate governance, IT governance and project performance. As a result, a governance alignment model was created, which will help to improve decision-making, deliver value, and increase the efficiency of IT project management.

Information Technology Governance Audit at XYZ College Using COBIT Framework 2019

Reliable and up-to-date information services are one of the parameters for the achievement of an organization's performance, including for a university, which is currently required to be able to adapt to technological advances to produce graduates who can master information technology to support the competence of their respective fields. The curriculum changes launched by the current government are also proof that the application of information technology in higher education is a must. Seeing this, universities have a difficult task, especially at the implementation stage of implementing information technology, because they must prepare not only infrastructure but also human resources who can develop good information system governance. Therefore it is necessary to carry out an IT governance audit. From the results of observations made, XYZ College has utilized information technology in academic services and other information services. However, it was found that information technology governance does not yet have a standard so that it is considered not to be able to meet the desired goals, and instead will cause various problems including uncontrolled operational costs and other problems. The purpose of this study is to measure the performance of information technology governance at XYZ College using the COBIT 2019 framework. Based on the results of an audit conducted from 7 EGIT components, namely processes, organizational structure, information flow and items, people skills and competencies, policies and procedures, culture, ethical behavior, and service infrastructure and application are on average at level 3, it can be concluded that the application of information technology has been running, the infrastructure is adequate but does not have good governance procedures or standards. It is recommended that XYZ Higher Education make standards for information technology governance as well as periodic evaluations of the use of all components of information technology, both software, hardware, and brainware.

COBIT 5: How Capable PT GTI Governing Innovation, Human Resource, and Knowledge Aspect?

The performance of information technology governance by PT GTI has not been optimal and there has never been a measurement of information technology governance capability. Based on these problems, it is necessary to measure the capability of information technology governance and make an appropriate information technology management recommendation that can be used as a guide—the measurement of the COBIT 5.0 framework. The data collection method consisted of observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The data collection results will produce findings, impacts, and recommendations for PT GTI. Measuring the capability of information technology governance used includes Planning, Preparation, Implementation, and Measurement Reporting. The study focused on 3 IT processes and obtained the following capability level results: APO04 Manage Innovation got a score of 78.4% and stopped at level 3, APO07 Managed Human Resource with a score of 81.07% and stopped at level 1, and BAI08 Manage Knowledge got to score 61% and stop at level 2.

Audit Tata Kelola Teknologi Informasi Pada PT. EMD Menggunakan COBIT 4.1 dan BSC

PT. EMD is a company engaged in the distributor of various kinds of Hardware and Lifestyle products. The company is currently in the stage of implementing an information systemaudit. Previously, this company had implemented an information system as a strategy to support the achievement of business profits in competing in market share. This study aims to assess the information technology governance that has been implemented by the company, so that the writer can provide recommendations for companies to improve the performance of information technology governance. This research uses descriptive research method because it includes data, analysis and interpretation. This research is structured as an inductive research that searches and collects existing data in the field with the aim to measure the level of maturity and recommendation improvement on information technology governance.

Dynamic capabilities for firm performance under the information technology governance framework

PurposeThis paper aims to investigate the role of dynamic capabilities in the Information Technology (IT) Governance view framework and explores the relationship between three domains of IT governance (Strategy, Management and Operations) and firm performance.Design/methodology/approachIn this study, the authors used a mixed methods approach and using a survey instrument and its validation with interviews, to collect data from 134 successful European SMEs in the multi-country setting of Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Spain and the UK.FindingsThe findings show that various IT governance mechanisms function as dynamic capabilities and are directly associated with firm performance. The impact of each mechanism is different.Originality/valueThis study highlights the relationship between IT governance acumens and organisational performance. It contributes to the field of IT Governance Framework in management, and the results may be generalisable to wider economies and different organisation types.

Pemetaan Tata Kelola IT Menggunakan Standarisasi Cobit 4.1 (Studi Kasus UKMC Palembang)

COBIT 4.1 is a standardization of framework mapping using a balanced scorecard that aims to implement information technology governance performance in UKMC. Information technology carried out in UKMC must be monitored and managed properly so as to avoid problems such as disrupted data security, data leakage, and organizational losses. Identification results obtained from COBIT 4.1 mapping obtained 21 sub domain processes that must be applied in UKMC such as PO (PO1, PO2, PO4, PO8, PO10), AI (AI, AI2, AI4, AI6, AI7), DS (DS1, DS2 , DS3, DS4 DS5, DS7, DS8, DS10, DS13), and ME (ME1, ME2). The sub domain of the process must be implemented and implemented in UKMC to support the achievement of the realization of good university governance and ensure that the information technology system that has been implemented in UKMC is aligned with the organization's goals so that the vision and mission of KSITK will run effectively and efficiently for UKMC development

An IT Governance Framework for Virtual Enterprise in Tourism Industry: Evidence from Small Tourism Enterprises in Thailand

Information technology (IT) plays a significant role on a highly information-intensive industry like tourism industry globally and dramatically. Virtual enterprise (VE) concept is an innovation that enables small tourism enterprises (STEs) in developing countries to offer effective tourism services without large investment in IT. As STEs operate their VEs based on cloud-sourcing environment, STEs have to deal with IT risks that may affect the entire organization. As almost all STEs are found lacking in IT management experience, it is not effective to apply traditional IT governance frameworks, such as Control objectives for information and related technologies (COBIT), IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), and International organization for standardization (ISO). This study proposes an IT governance framework for STEs operating in VE concept with cloud-sourcing environment. The methodology began with multiple-case study research via semi-structure interviews. Subjects are IT leaders from 10 STEs. IT governance framework for STEs was derived from the interview results, the framework consists of five IT governance areas: Strategy, Administration, Technology and Infrastructure, Supply, and Human Resource. This study also proposed performance assessment criteria for assessing IT governance performance. The proposed assessment criteria were integrated from relevance criteria in COBIT, ISO38500, ITIL, and previous research. STEs can adopt the proposed framework in their VEs to ensure the achievement of effectiveness and efficiency of their services in virtual environment. This will eventually guarantee their continued success in tourism services at present and in the future.

Conceptualizing Information Technology Governance Model for Higher Education: An Absorptive Capacity Approach

Information Technology (IT) governance has been emerging as a central issue in many organizations. This is because IT governance is key to realizing IT business value. Past studies have focused on the three aspects of IT governance, namely, structural capability, process capability and relational capability. At the same time, some studies have suggested that IT governance process should be viewed as a learning process rather than a problem solving process. Based on this scenario, the role of knowledge and knowledge based processes should be the central focus of IT governance. As a learning process, IT governance effectiveness can be determined by how much impact IT governance practices has influenced on decision-makers’ thinking and actions. In this case, knowledge capacity absorbed from IT governance experience reflects a certain level of organizational learning (OL) achieved which later influences the level of IT governance performance. Since studies that adopt this perspective is lacking, this paper proposes a conceptual framework based on absorptive capacity approach for an IT governance performance model in the higher education. The paper contributes theoretically by extending the knowledge of IT governance by exploring a new perspective on OL.

BCA was established in 1957 has continued to grow. Nowdays has supported business processes in various companies, such as the use of attendance information systems. During this system implementation has been running to support the procedures of attendance activities. The purpose of this research is to get an overview of the performance of information technology governance in order to determine the extent of maturity level which is currently running, with a few aspects to consider such as effectiveness, efficiency. The conclusion that can be drawn from the research that has been done is IT governance at the BCA has been done, although still run optimally within each IT process contained in the sub domain Monitor Evaluate Assess (MEA) on average was at 3.0 (defined process) for sub domain DS1, DS5, DS10 and ME2.

Audit of IT Governance Based on COBIT 5 Assessments: A Case Study

Training Center in Jakarta offers a certification program for the individuals and companies who wish to search for or complement international scale IT certifications. The certification program consists of training certification exam preparation and certification exams. The purpose of this research is to get an overview of the performance of information technology governance in order to determine the extent of the capabilities of information technology governance in the Training Center which is currently running, with a few aspects to consider such as effectiveness, efficiency, functional unit of information technology within an organization. Implementing IT governance, however, is a challenge to organizations. To ensure IT alignment with business goals use standard COBIT. COBIT 5 Framework is a service for auditing IS/IT are the most commonly used to audit information systems in a rapid, accurate, and interactive. The result of this audit training center is business and IT management are aware of the impact of not managing performance and capacity. Performance needs are generally met based on assessments of individual systems and the knowledge of support and project teams. In this paper the method to be used is COBIT 5 is focused on the domain of DSS (Deliver, Service, and Support).

Performance Measurement in ITG Based on Balanced Scorecard

The article reports on our work in conducting performance measurement for the management of Information Technology (IT) by applying the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) at Mulawarman University, Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The results of this study are then used to propose a hybrid framework that applies both BSC and a artificial intelligence (AI) techniques in order to measure the performance of IT governance generally. This article also examines BSC’s abilities and its flexibility compared to other methods in measuring the performance of IT governance. The proposed hybrid framework is expected to yield a management that produces a scorecard measures that are more rigorous, accurate and consistent with the objectives and organizational strategies in non-profit organizations, especially educational ones.

The Relationship between Information Technology Governance and Information Technology Performance in Taiwanese Financial Enterprises

More and more enterprises regard Information Technology (IT) as their most valuable property and make full use of IT to maximize the performance of their business operations. As a result, enterprises are attaching more importance to coordinating their IT strategy and enterprise strategy in order to get the most from their IT investment. For the sake of better IT performance and long-term development, firms must adopt a complete strategy for IT governance. In Taiwan, most financial enterprises have not considered IT governance to be a necessity, and those which are implementing IT governance have difficulty explaining, systemically, how it affects IT performance. Based on the five dimensions of IT governance, this study uses the balanced scorecard to measure IT performance and discusses the influence of effective governance on IT performance. The results show that the five dimensions of IT governance (strategic alignment, value delivery, risk management, resource management, and performance measurement) are all positively correlated with IT performance. The results of this study can help Taiwan's financial enterprises set the proper course for IT governance and more clearly understand how it serves to improve IT performance.

Board-level IT governance and organizational performance

Research on the strategic management of Information Technology (IT) resources has mostly focused on the oversight provided by the management team as a means to increase organizational performance. In recent years, boards of directors have also increased their involvement in IT matters, and various theoretical lenses suggest that this oversight too has the potential to influence organizational performance. Hence, this study synthesizes the resource-based and contingency views of MIS with corporate governance theories, and examines key antecedents and consequences of board-level IT governance (ITG) using a multi-method approach. Structural Equation Modelling analysis applied to organization-level data collected from 171 board members suggested that the level of ITG exercised by boards was contingent upon the organization's ‘IT use mode’, along the two dimensions of need for (a) fast and reliable IT, and (b) new innovative IT. But, the findings further suggested that the contingency approach may be suboptimal because it can cause new ways of leveraging IT to be ignored. High levels of board-level ITG, regardless of existing IT needs, increased organizational performance. This phenomenon was illuminated with applicability checks. Moreover, content analysis and structured interviews with board members further enriched these insights.

IT GOVERNANCE DECISION SUPPORT USING THE IT ORGANIZATION MODELING AND ASSESMENT TOOL

This paper describes the information technology (IT) organization modeling and assessment tool (ITOMAT) and how it can be used for IT governance decision making. The ITOMAT consists of an enterprise architecture metamodel that describes IT organizations. Further, ITOMAT contains a Bayesian network for making predictions on how changes to IT organization models will affect the IT governance performance as perceived by business stakeholders. Thorough case studies at 20 different companies have been conducted in order to calibrate the network. Finally, the paper describes a case study where ITOMAT was used to analyze the future impact of two IT organization change scenarios in a medium-sized engineering company.

Study on Correlation between Critical Successful Factors of IT Governance and Governance Performance

This study conducted a structural questionnaire survey on employees in governmental units in order to probe into the correlations among the Critical Successful Factors and performance of Information Technology Governance (IT Governance) in governmental units, and further proposed the performance improvement stage model of IT Governance performance. First, by Delphi Method, this study generalized 34 Critical Successful Factors of IT Governance. Secondly, by IPA, organizational members’ cognition of “importance” and “performance” of IT Governance was studied. Four quadrants of IPA were defined according to mean (2.93) of “importance” of Critical Successful Factors (standard deviation =0.63) and mean (3.24) of “performance” (standard deviation =0.1). The findings are as follows: (1) “enhance improvement points” according to information strategy; (2) avoid “over supply” of organizational information resource; (3) increase information organization development and management capability to lead to exploration of information strategy positioning, information resource alignment and information organization alignment.

The effect of critical success factors on IT governance performance

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to analyse the effect of critical success factors (CSFs) on information technology (IT) governance performance in public sector organizations in a developing country such as Tanzania.Design/methodology/approachBased on a previous study and a further literature review, a research model was developed for analysing the relationship between the CSFs found for effective IT governance in this environment and their effect on IT governance performance. A survey research method was applied for data collection and sample data from Tanzanian public sector organizations (this environment) obtained. Subsequently, a second‐generation structural equation modelling technique, namely partial least squares, was applied to test statistically the correlated effect.FindingsThe results indicate significant small to strong positive correlated effects on IT governance performance. The CSF with the most significant correlated effect was “involve and get support of senior management” and the one with the least “consolidate, standardize and manage IT infrastructure and application to optimize costs and information flow across the organization”. Finally, a CSF model for effective IT governance in this environment was proposed.Research limitations/implicationsThe findings imply that decision makers can optimize IT‐related plans and use of scarce resources by concentrating on the CSFs that have a significant effect on IT governance performance that could lead to an improvement of public service delivery. This study is limited to a single developing country but future studies can involve more such countries to broaden the insights into the effect of CSFs on IT governance performance in such environments.Originality/valueBy establishing the correlated effects between these CSFs and the IT governance performance, this study has revealed a significant impact of CSFs on IT governance performance. It also suggests a CSFs model for effective IT governance in this less‐resourced environment in which such studies have not been conducted before, yet which are vital for analysing and improving IT governance.
