If you're reading this, then you already know—things look a little different around these parts. There is a new cover, a new journal website and, of course, fresh vascular access content. With that in mind and on behalf of the Association for Vascular Access (AVA), I would like to personally welcome Allen Press, Inc. as the new publisher-services partner of the Journal of the Association for Vascular Access (JAVA)!Why did we decide to change the way we publish? The AVA Board of Directors, in concert with the AVA staff, elected to move away from Elsevier near the end of 2017 in an effort to reset and refocus. Bringing JAVA back to a self-publishing structure gives us more flexibility with our content and allows us to place a more personal touch on what the journal provides AVA members and its subscribers. Our goal is to raise awareness of the vascular access specialty across the globe: We know as well as you do that people need to become aware of our mission and values if we are to improve patient care. JAVA is an integral piece of the AVA communications arm, along with Intravascular Quarterly (IQ) (https://www.avainfo.org/page/iqlanding), the ISAVE That Podcast (https://www.avainfo.org/page/podcastpublic), and AVA's five social media accounts. With Allen Press, Inc. providing composition and content management services, including the printing and online presence of AVA's multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed scholarly journal, our entire team is confident this will allow JAVA to continue to grow from a clinical, quality, and professional standpoint. The transition from Elsevier to Allen Press, Inc. took an extensive amount of time and energy. I look forward to seeing how our new partner can help us share our content on a larger scale.Authors want their content read globally, while clinicians and researchers need to find information pertinent to their practice quickly. Allen Press, Inc. offers new, strategic ways to make these things happen. There were challenges during this extensive transition process over the past year, and some kinks still remain. For now, I hope you take some time to check out the new journal website that remains under the same URL as before (https://avajournal.com/), submit a new manuscript for publication (https://www.editorialmanager.com/java/Default.aspx), or consider becoming a JAVA reviewer (https://www.avainfo.org/page/JAVAReviewer).It is incredibly easy for AVA members to access the JAVA content online. After signing in to your account at the AVA website, visit the new JAVA page (https://www.avainfo.org/page/java) and follow the link. No need to sign in twice! We will inform authors and members of any additional changes that present themselves as we put a bow on this transition. I intend to continue working hard on the editorial side of our publication and want to acknowledge and thank the members of the JAVA Editorial Review Board for their support, time, and willingness to share their knowledge and advice to authors. They are consummate professionals and play a pivotal role in the four issues of JAVA that show up on your doorstep each year.AVA now holds the keys to the JAVA publication vehicle, with Allen Press acting as its engine. We look forward to what the future holds!
