Study of Peak-load regulation characteristics of a 1000MWe S-CO2 Coal-fired power plant and a comprehensive evaluation method for dynamic performance

In the new power system with large-scale grid-connection of intermittent new energy, the coal-fired power plants (CFPPs) play an important role of the ballast stone. In the process of grid-connection, CFPPs receive variable load instructions in real time. Higher peak-load regulation capacity and more flexible response for CFPPs are needed to provide a stable support to the power grid. The supercritical carbon dioxide (S-CO2) cycle has better variable working condition performance, which may improve the flexibility of the CFPPs peak-load regulation process. To explore the peak-load regulation characteristics of the S-CO2 CFPP, the variable load characteristics of a tri-compressions double-reheating intercooling (TC-DRH-IC) S-CO2 CFPP under five control methods are studied. Furthermore, a comprehensive evaluation method for the dynamic performance is proposed. First, the dynamic model of the TC-DRH-IC S-CO2 cycle with the modified isentropic efficiency of turbo-machineries, the unsteady flow heat transfer model of heat exchangers and a proportion integration differentiation (PID) controller is established. Second, the peak-load regulation characteristics of the TC-DRH-IC S-CO2 cycle are analyzed. A comprehensive evaluation method of dynamic control performance considering load change rate, dynamic response time, load rate variation range and cycle efficiency is proposed. Finally, the inventory control method is improved, which can improve the cycle efficiency at low loads. The results show that the improved inventory control method has a rapid practical load change rate of about 10%/min and a wide range of variable-load regulation from 10% to 100%. And the cycle efficiency is improved by 3.67% at 50% of the rated power. The S-CO2 CFPP has the potential of flexible peak-load regulation.

Coordinated allocation method of opportunity constraints for thermal power units considering source load uncertainty

Cogeneration units usually adopt the “heat based electricity” as the main operation mode in heating season, which will lead to the shortage of peak load regulation capacity and a large number of wind abandonment in power grid.Therefore, a stochastic optimal allocation method of thermal power units is proposed for the uncertainty of wind power output and load. The wind power prediction method based on interval discretization is adopted. On this basis, the chance constraint model of thermal power unit based on wind heat complementary and heat storage device configuration is proposed, and the coordinated scheduling solution strategy based on real coded quantum evolution is proposed. Finally, the proposed coordinated scheduling strategy is applied to typical thermal power units to verify its effectiveness.

Design of renewable energy consumption market system based on the interactive transaction of source-grid-load-storage

Renewable energy has the characteristics of clean, safe and low variable cost. High proportion of renewable energy access is of great significance for improving energy structure and improving power economy. However, with the continuous increase of renewable energy access ratio, in the case of full guaranteed acquisition, the peak load regulation capacity of power generation side will be insufficient, which can’t meet the requirements of full purchase of renewable energy, resulting in the phenomenon of power abandonment. It is urgent to stimulate the interactive ability of all users to participate in the consumption of renewable energy. Based on this, this paper puts forward a renewable energy consumption market system which includes medium and long-term, day ahead and real-time trading mode to promote the interaction between source network and load storage. Through the design of the mechanism, we can give full play to the regulatory potential of the user side and let the more efficient renewable energy units obtain more auxiliary service resources.

Experimental study on load capacity of thermal generator unit in heating season

With the development of renewable energy and the rapid growth of thermal load, due to the influence of the mode of “determining power by heat”, the power grid dispatching in heating season can not accurately adjust the unit load, and the peak load regulation capacity of power grid is limited. Through the load capacity test of cogeneration units in heating season, the adjustment range and limiting factors of different types of units are obtained, which can be used as reference for power generation enterprises and power grid dispatching operation.

Prospects for the Low Pollutant Emission Control of Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion Technology

With the pollutant emission standards becoming increasingly stringent and considering the pressure of carbon neutral by 2060, the low pollutant emission potential of circulating fluidized bed (CFB) combustion technology needs to be further exploited, thus to promote the market competitiveness of CFB boilers; this is critical for the clean and efficient utilization of coal as well as for the energy transformation in China. In this article, we summarize the pollutant emission characteristics of CFB combustion, and review the development of major technologies for CFB boiler emission control. Based on the energy development strategies and corresponding policies in China, development suggestions are proposed for reducing pollutant emission of the CFB combustion technology. The most significant approach is to push the limits of original pollutant emission for CFB combustion by re-specifying the fluidization state and through in-furnace combustion adjustment, while the boiler thermal efficiency should be ensured. For the long-term development of coal energy, the new-generation CFB combustion technology with ultra-low emission should be researched and developed while combining with technologies such as supercritical/ultra-supercritical, intelligent operation, carbon capture, utilization, and storage, and energy storage technologies. The existing CFB boilers with small or medium capacity should also be upgraded. Considering the fuel flexibility of CFB combustion, biomass power generation should be promoted to realize low-cost and high-efficiency consumption of low-heat value fuels, urban refuse, industrial wastes, etc. The peak load regulation capacity and low pollutant emission property of the CFB boilers should be promoted to improve operation flexibility and renewable energy consumption. Moreover, the desulphurization ash produced in CFB combustion should be comprehensively utilized, and the N2O emission problem is also significant. The pollutant emission standards and related policies need to be formulated from an overall perspective to guide the healthy development of the energy industry.

Research on Heat Load Distribution Based on Peaking Capacity of Thermal Power Plant

With the rapid development of new energy sources, the peak load regulation of power grids is increasing day by day, while the northern part of China is dominated by cogeneration units. In the heating season, heat supply needs to be prioritized to meet the requirements of peak heating, which further complicates the difficulty of peak load regulation. In order to solve this problem, this paper takes into account the electric thermal characteristics of the unit itself, fully considers the difference of peak load regulation capacity among different types of units, and establishes the peaking capacity optimization model of the whole plant to determine the most thermal load between different types of units. The best distribution plan makes the whole plant have the highest peaking capacity.

A source–grid–load coordinated power planning model considering the integration of wind power generation

Power system planning approach should meet the new requirements brought by continuous development of power systems. In recent years, wind power generation capacity keeps a rapid growth, but the problem of wind power curtailment becomes increasingly serious in some countries. The limitations of wind power integration produced by power systems, such as the inconsistency between installed generation capacity and transmission capacity and the insufficiency of regulation capacity, are drawing the attention in both academia and industry. This paper proposes a source–grid–load coordinated planning model for power systems with regulation capacity constraints being taken into account. In this novel model, traditional generation expansion planning and transmission expansion planning are integrated, and the peak-load regulation capacity and flexible regulation capability of power systems are considered. Meanwhile, the positive impacts of demand response are also taken into consideration. The numerical study verifies that the source–grid–load coordinated planning model can not only reduce the overall cost of the system, but also improve the wind power integration capacity and guarantee the sustainable development of wind power generation.

Study on Improving Consumption Capability of Wind Power by Installing Thermal Storage in Ningxia Province

With the rapid development of wind power industry, the wind power absorption problem has become an increasingly severe challenge which China's power industry is faced with. In fact, through the configuration of large capacity thermal storage devices in the existing power system, an electrothermal association system is formed by combining electric power system with thermal system, which can not only increase the peak load regulation capacity of the system, but also increase local load, thus greatly improving the wind power absorptive capacity of electric power system. This paper will make an systematic analysis of the mechanism of promoting the wind power absorptive capacity of electric power system by utilizing thermal storage devices, and the feasibility and prospect of the proposed plan by combining with the actual situation of Ningxia, and lays the foundation for the further study of thermal storage devices in electrical power system.

A Research Summary on Combined Peaking Load Strategies of Nuclear Power Plant

Based on extensive research, introduced the peak load regulation characteristics and capacity of different nuclear power plant (NPP) in this paper. The running mode of NPP participating in peak load regulation of power system, combined operation tactics of NPP with other peaking power source and synergistic scheduling of an integrated power generation system with wind, photovoltaic, energy storage unit and NPP were summarized, technology development trend of NPP participating in peak load regulation of power system was analyzed and forecasted.

大型供热机组深度参与电网调峰能力的研究与实践

针对我国北方寒冷地区冬季供暖期电网调峰能力严重不足的现状，以研究大型供热机组供暖期调峰能力为目的，根据等效热降理论得出供热机组调峰能力理论模型；以此为基础，本文采用现场试验核定的方法确定电网内每台供热机组不同抽汽供热量时机组所对应的调峰高限负荷和调峰低限负荷，采用多项式回归方法建立相应的调峰能力实际应用模型,为大型供热机组深度参与电网消纳风电提供理论依据和技术支持。在吉林省电网的应用也证明了模型的正确性和有效性。 In allusion to the serious capability inadequacy of peak-load regulation of power network during the heating seasons in north China, by making use of the basic theory of equivalent enthalpy drop method, a theoretical model is derived for the peak-load regulation capacity from large units during the heating period. Then based on it, the peak-load regulation capacity minimal load and maximal load of every large heating unit in different heating loads were obtained by field tests and the application models were established by polynomial fitting method which supplied theoretical basis and technical support for the large heating units deeply involved in peak regulation of power network. The accuracy and validity of the method are confirmed by the application in Jilinpower grid.
