This study focuses on the synthesis and properties of pandanwangifiber reinforced polyethylene composites using dicumyl peroxide (DCP). The amount of DCP in the composite has been varied. Pandanwangi has been used as composite filler, with the amount being 10% of the volume fraction. Composites were fabricated using the hot-press technique, while specimens were prepared as per ASTM standards for different mechanical tests. Due to the better adhesion between the polyethylene resin and the pandanwangi cellulose fiber, the results showed that the highest tensile, bending, and impact strength was obtained for the composite with 4% DCP. The surface morphology of the composites has also been analyzed by SEM. • Study of pandan wangi fiber reinforced polyethylene composites. • The effects of the presence of dicumyl peroxide on composite mechanical properties. • The increases in the mechanical performance was mainly due to the formation of a better cross-linked. • The variation of DCP was found to have a significant effect on mechanical properties.
