PERAN KEPEMIMPINAN KEPALA SEKOLAH DALAM MENINGKATKAN KINERJA GURU

This This study aims to determine the leadership role of school principals in improving teacher performance. The research was conducted at SDIT Annur Cikarang Center, Bekasi Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. The subject of this research is the principal of the school. The resource persons were foundations as superiors, deputy principals, and teacher representatives from level 1, level 3 and level 6. The research location was in a private school which is located at Jalan Raya Rabbit block R7 Number 1 Cikarang Pusat, Bekasi Regency. The results of the study show that the role of the school principal is in improving teacher performance through coaching teachers by participating in trainings that are held both internally and externally, the role of the principal is also to supervise through supervision activities to see directly the learning process in class, the role of the principal schools also provide motivation to teachers either verbally or in the form of awards for outstanding teachers, as well as the role of the principal in improving performance through evaluation to measure the level of success and weaknesses of teachers. The conclusions from this study indicate that the principal plays a role in increasing teacher performance. This shows that the principal has carried out his duties and functions properly.

Academician Vladimir Mikhailovich Mysh (1873–1947) (on the 150th anniversary of his birth)

An outstanding surgeon, scientist, teacher and organizer of healthcare, academician of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (1945), Honored Scientist of the RSFSR (1934), founder of the largest surgical school in Siberia, Professor Vladimir Mikhailovich Mysh was born on January 4 (16), 1873 in St. Petersburg in the family of a lawyer. He received his secondary education in a classical gymnasium and entered the Imperial Military Medical Academy, which he graduated in 1895 with honors and was left for three years to improve at the Department of Surgery under the guidance of Professor N. A. Velyaminov. In 1898, V. M. Mysh defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: «Herniae vaginales ingvinales in childhood» and was assigned to Kaluga, where he worked as the head of the Surgical Department in a Military hospital. In 1901, he was elected by competition to the position of professor of the Department of General Surgery with Desmurgy and the study of dislocations and fractures at the Medical Faculty of Tomsk University. In 1909, V. M. Mysh became the head of the Department of Faculty Surgery of Tomsk University, which he headed until 1931, and in 1922, he concurrently headed the Department of Urology created by him. He was the first in Russia and the third in the world to perform radical surgery for alveolar echinococcosis of the liver. In 1931, Vladimir Mikhailovich together with the staff of Tomsk State Medical University moved to Novosibirsk, where he continued to head the Department of Surgery, and in 1935, took an active part in the opening of Novosibirsk Medical Institute and the creation of the Department of Faculty Surgery in it. V. M. Mysh initiated the introduction of specialized urological care in Siberia and made a very great contribution to the development of neurosurgery. Academician V. M. Mysh created the largest surgical school in Siberia, from which famous professors came out: V. S. Levit, G. M. Mukhadze, M. S. Rabinovich, S. L. Schneider, B. I. Fuchs, K. N. Cherepnin, A. G. Savinykh, V. M. Galkin. Vladimir Mikhailovich was the author and co-author of 136 scientific papers, including 11 monographs and manuals on abdominal and thoracic surgery, oncology, urology, neurosurgery, diseases of bones and joints, general and plastic surgery. He was awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, medals «For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945», «For Labor Valor». Academician V. M. Mysh died on December 31, 1947 and was buried at the Zaeltsovsky Cemetery in Novosibirsk. The surgical clinic of the State Institute for Advanced Training of Doctors and the Department of Faculty Surgery of NSMU were named after V. M. Mysh. He was listed in the gallery of Honorary Professors of the Novosibirsk State Medical Academy.

Influence of Principals’ Instructional Supervisory Practices on Teacher Motivation in Secondary Schools in Turkana West, Turkana County Kenya

The study investigated on the influence of principals’ supervisory practices on teacher motivation in secondary schools in Turkana West Sub County. Embedded design was adopted. The target population comprised of all; secondary schools, principals, board of management, teachers and field education officers. Simple random and purposive sampling techniques were used. Data was collected using focused group discussions, in-depth interviews guides and questionnaires. Quantitative data was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics while qualitative data was analyzed using transcription, coding, categorizing and coming up with themes. The study results revealed that principals’ supervisory practices had positive correlation to teacher motivation. It further established that positive effect of the principals’ supervisory practices on teacher motivation were impeded by financial constraints faced by principals. The study recommended that principals should adopt clinical and collegial supervisory practices. That principals should involve teachers in collective goal setting as well as awarding outstanding teachers’ performance. The study also recommended that principals should initiate income generating projects in schools and involve parents’ teachers’ association in raising funds to ease financial constraints that impede supervisory practices that mitigate on teacher motivation.

Challenges of Special Education Teachers in Inclusive Mathematics Teaching in Primary Schools: A Preliminary Study

Teaching and learning mathematics in an inclusive manner is growing, primarily to ensure that students with special needs receive equal education with mainstream students. Therefore, this study was carried out in order to identify the challenges that teachers face when implementing inclusive mathematics teaching in primary schools. This qualitative study employs a case study design with two outstanding special education teachers who are involved in inclusive education programmes in primary schools. Data collection method was done using semi-structured interviews and field notes. The data obtained were analyzed using the constant comparative analysis method to determine themes and sub-themes. The findings of the study found that special education teachers face various challenges in teaching mathematics in an inclusive manner, namely lack of pedagogical content knowledge to teaching mathematics in inclusive classrooms, dense classes, problems of subject teachers' attitudes and motivations, bullying problems between mainstream students and special needs students, and problems in ensuring effective communication in inclusive classes. This study expands the knowledge and literature about the challenges faced by special education teachers in primary schools in implementing inclusive teaching. Various initiatives must be taken to ensure that all challenges can be overcome and that inclusive mathematics teaching can be implemented effectively.

SISTEM PENDUKUNG KEPUTUSAN PENENTUAN GURU BERPRESTASI MENGGUNAKAN METODE TOPSIS (STUDI KASUS: DINAS PPO KAB. TTU)

This study aims to assist human work in knowing the decision support system for determining outstanding teachers using the topsis method using the Multi Attribute Decision Making (MADM) decision making method which is used to evaluate or select several alternatives as a decision support system using one method, namely the The trick for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS). This method is widely used to solve practical decision-making. This is because the concept is simple and easy to understand, computation is efficient, and has the ability to measure the relative performance of decision alternatives. There are 5 criteria used in determining outstanding teachers, namely pedagogic, personality, professional, social and innovation. From the results of calculations using the cicue for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method, the teacher who was selected as an outstanding teacher was Elisabeth Abi S.PD SD with a score of 0.825. Thecnicue for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method makes it easy to determine outstanding teachers at the youth and sports education office at TTU, this is web-based and uses the PHP programming language.

Implementation of Educational Resource Management to Enhance Service Quality for Students at SMA Nigeria Terbanggi Besar

The preliminary research findings at SMA Negeri 1 Terbanggi Besar indicate that educational resource management has been implemented, but the quality of services to students has not improved. Therefore, the research aims to determine the implementation of educational resource management in improving the quality of student services. The research method used is qualitative, with data sources including the school principal, teachers, and students. Data collection techniques include participatory observation, interviews, and documentation. After collecting the data, data reduction, data presentation, and data verification are conducted. The results of this study include: planning teachers' assignments according to their educational background, at least an undergraduate degree (S.1), skilled in using teaching methods and media, developing teacher competencies through training and seminars, motivating further education, providing rewards for outstanding teachers and sanctions for those who lack discipline or have poor performance, involving teachers in every school development, accepting and developing ideas and potential of teachers, conducting direct supervision activities for teachers, following up on the results of teacher performance assessments, and giving recognition and attention to honorary teachers. The research conclusion is that the implementation of educational resource management can improve the quality of student services at SMA Negeri 1 Terbanggi Besar.

Reminiscences of Manmohan Manohar Laloraya: A Great Friend to Many, and A Visionary Leader

Dr. Manmohan Manohar Laloraya (September 1, 1932- February 18, 2023) was an outstanding teacher, researcher and administrator who mentored many scholars who themselves became leaders. He was gifted with a brilliant mind and unique research career, working with both plants and animals. He had received numerous awards and honours in his lifetime including the distinguished plant physiologist award in 1995, and being the Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India. We present below his brief biography, which is followed by his extraordinary research contributions on both plants and animals. We end this “In memoriam” with personal reminiscences of some of his class fellows, research collaborators, and life-long friends, and a 1958 group photograph with many at a conference.

DEDICATION TO MARIJ ANATOLYEVICH SVECHNIKOV

The paper is dedicated to the memory and scientific heritage of Marij Anatolyevich Svechnikov, an outstanding researcher and teacher, founder of the Ural school of study of close binary systems and author of the classification of eclipsing variable stars. The paper provides a brief overview of the major life events and main scientific achievements of M.A. Svechnikov. The best memory is the continuation and development of those s-cientific directions to which he devoted his scientific activity. The research initiated by M.A. Svechnikov was continued in the works of his apprentices and followers at the Ural State University, Chelyabinsk State University, Chita State University, etc. The paper is based on a talk presented at the astrophysical memorial seminar “Novelties in Understanding the Evolution of Binary Stars”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Professor M.A. Svechnikov.

A. S. Makarenko and the fate of his legacy in nowadays Russia

Introduction. The problem of educating the younger generation is one of the most important in modern Russian pedagogy. Russian scientists and teachers are carefully studying the legacy of their outstanding predecessors, the teachers of the past. Anton Semyonovich Makarenko (1888-1939) is one of such scientists who have left a unique mark in pedagogical science and practice. The article was written in connection with the 135th anniversary of his birth. The purpose of the article is to show the importance of Makarenko's personality in the development of Russian education. As tasks, the author highlights the characterization and evaluation of his achievements in practical work and pedagogical theory, the presentation of previously unknown biographical data of the teacher, his colleagues and relatives. Materials and methods. In the process of working on the article, the author used the following research methods: analysis of historical and pedagogical, memoir and fiction literature on the topic of the work, biographical, historical and comparative methods, as well as axiological (value) approach to the study of pedagogical innovations by A. S. Makarenko. Results. Up to the present time, Makarenko's personality, his practical activities and literary works cause heated debates among Russian practical teachers and theoretical teachers. The author characterizes Makarenko's achievements as a teacher, manifested in a factually reliable and accurate disclosure of the events of the biography of an outstanding teacher and his selfless efforts in the re-education of pupils and the pedagogization of their social environment. Makarenko is shown as a prominent writer and teacher. In fact, he is the founder of Russian artistic and pedagogical literature ("Pedagogical poem", "Flags on towers", "Book for parents"). Conclusion. The Soviet education had developed itself for decades in the main stream of the pedagogy of Makarenko. But the post-Soviet Russian education seems to avoid the Makarenko’s legacy. A. S. Makarenko is one of the most important teachers in the history of Russian education. His personality and pedagogical heritage need further study by historians of pedagogy.

WTP6.3 Evolution of a Five-Year, Multi-Specialty Surgical Course for Foundation Doctors Transitioning into Surgical Training: An Educational Paradigm

Abstract Background The Essential Surgical Skills Course (ESSC) is a multi-specialty surgical stimulation embedded course that has been run successfully for five years, acting as an educational paradigm for bridging the gap between two levels of training. This report aims to describe the evolving process of designing and delivering a successful ‘hands-on’ course and assess its validity through trainee feedback. Methods The face validity of the course was assessed through the cumulative (free-text and quantitative) five-year feedback from trainees. The design and process of content adjustment according to feedback is described in detail to allow for easy replication by other educators. Results Face validity of the different sessions of the course ranged from 8.17-9.42 out of 10. Feedback driven changes to the curriculum with positive reception. Key themes identified as beneficial including teaching style, course structure and responsiveness. Conclusion The ESSC has demonstrated good face validity and was well received by trainees. The key factors contributing to the success of the course include the structured method of curriculum design, outstanding teaching delivery methods, the availability of appropriate faculty and infrastructure and the willingness to learn from trainee feedback and adjust the content of the course accordingly. It acts as a paradigm for courses aimed to prepare surgical trainees for a ‘step-up’ in their careers.

K.D. Ushinsky as a teacher and mentor of Russian national pedagogy (to the 200th anniversary of his birth)

Considering the analysis of the scientific research, the author turns to revealing and understanding the pedagogical heritage of the outstanding teacher and scientist Konstantin Dmitrievich Ushinsky in the field of scientific knowledge. The paper focuses on the conceptual ideas of K.D. Ushinsky, which present the main provisions of the education and upbringing of the younger generation, the stages of professional training of the future teacher, the popular image of the teacher. The importance of the teaching profession for modern society is emphasized. The author pays special attention to the popularization of the teaching profession, the recognition of the special status of teaching staff, including mentoring, which is of particular importance in the Year of the Teacher and Mentor. The practical significance of the study is in the integration of pedagogical science and practice in the context of the challenges of the 21st century as a construct for the implementation of modern educational practices in the innovative activities of a teacher, tutor, mentor, facilitator by organizing and holding the International Competition for Research and Creative Works of Students In the World of Wise Thoughts K.D. Ushinsky. The presented results of the study update the pedagogical heritage of K.D. Ushinsky in modern pedagogical science and practice and can be used as a tool to attract students to the teaching profession.

The Work on Breathing and Sound Formation with Aspiring Singers

The relevance of this topic is that young teachers often do not pay due attention to the organization of singing breathing among students, and this leads to defects in sound formation. The article deals with issues related to the training of academic vocalists in the aspect of proper organization of breathing. Singing breathing is the basis of the entire performing process, not only the improvement of vocal and technical skills, but also the artistic result depend on it. The task set by the authors is to consider breathing as the basis of sound science and to reveal the features of working on it. Breathing, as the foundation of professional singing, is connected with other factors of sound formation: with their development and improvement, breathing is strengthened in parallel. The authors formulate the conditions for obtaining a high singing position: free position of the larynx and mouth, rounded and covered sound, soft attack of sound, close and bright sound.As a result, there is beauty and saturation of timbre, "flight" of the voice. In the course of classes, the raised tone, desire and aspiration of the singer to achieve the goal are important. Vocal training is a purely individual pro-cess, therefore, young teachers should be in close contact with students, controlling their first steps in mastering vo-cal technique: in the organization of breathing, the development of a high singing position, the removal of muscle clamps of the larynx, the control of sound science. The authors summarize the recommendations of outstanding vo-cal teachers of the past years, and also offer their own instructions and terms based on many years of personal vocal pedagogical and performing experience.

The Educational Role of The Constitutional Court in Compliance of Indonesian Citizens

The Constitutional Court (MK) has a strategic position, authority, and obligation to determine the future of the Indonesian nation. This study aims to examine the educational role of the Constitutional Court in developing a constitutional understanding of Indonesian citizens constitutionally. This research used doctrinal legal research method, a process to find the rule of law, legal principles, and legal doctrines to answer the legal problems faced. The results showed the educative role of the Constitutional Court in fostering constitutional understanding of Indonesian citizens by creating programs to promote constitutional understanding of Indonesian citizens, i.e.: increasing the understanding of citizens' constitutional rights; disseminating information on the Constitutional Court, and development of constitutional awareness culture.; debate on student constitutions between universities throughout indonesia; telling the values of Pancasila on social media; and increasing understanding of the constitutional rights of civics with outstanding teachers; and educating people's attention. The Constitutional Court's products in the form of decisions contain public education on compliance with the Constitution correctly and rationally. The Constitutional Court's decision will always be linked to the public with the Constitution and the interests of justice seekers because the court examines the interests of justice seekers related to the Constitution.

ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE OF A. MAKARENKО IN FORMING THE LEGAL COMPETENCE OF FUTURE EDUCATIONAL MANAGERS

Systemic opportunities for the formation of legal competence of the future educational leader should be provided by the optimal organization of his professional training in the conditions of the master's degree. At the same time, the category of legal content of the learning process acquires special importance, which involves not only the saturation of the educational process with legal disciplines, but also a wide appeal to various forms of legal, including historical and pedagogical, experience. An interesting example of the formation of legal reality as a means of optimizing the educational environment is the unique experience of the outstanding Ukrainian teacher Anton Makarenko. A. Makarenko managed to assess the immanent pedagogical potential of legal reality as such and found a certain algorithm for using the system of basic forms of existence of law as an educational tool. Having become the head of an institution for the education of delinquents, A. Makarenko felt the objective need to take into account the specific legal reality not as a negative circumstance, but primarily as a key factor in the pedagogical process. In his practical activity, A. Makarenko realized and implemented the goal of finding a certain algorithm for the integration of pedagogical and legal specifics in solving the educational tasks set before him. The form that ensured such integration was the author's system of pedagogically expedient organization of legal reality, implemented in the specific conditions of the so-called educational team. In other words, A. Makarenko not only effectively used each of the forms of existence of law in his management practice, but actually invented a whole system of pedagogically appropriate methods of implementing these forms. The experience of A. Makarenko for a modern leader in the field of education represents a form of optimal unity of managerial, pedagogical and legal reality, among which the managerial reality acts as an integrating factor, ensuring the effectiveness of the entire system.

In memoriam - prof. Krzysztof Marasek (1958–2019)

Krzysztof Marasek, lecturer and researcher at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology (PJAIT) and an expert at the National Information Processing Institute (OPI PIB) passed away on November 13, 2019. He was an outstanding scientist, an internationally acclaimed authority in the field of speech technology, an outstanding academic teacher and mentor to many scientists at home and abroad. Professor Krzysztof Marasek headed the PJAIT Multimedia Department created by him in 2002.

Identifying undergraduate nurses´ learning requirements and teaching strategies in dementia care education: A nominal group technique

AimIdentify priorities and reach a consensus on student nurses´ learning requirements and the best-suited teaching strategies in dementia care. BackgroundDementia has become a global health priority. Nurses are primary service providers for people with dementia, but they may fall short on professional training. Nursing curricula still lacks a clear educational framework for dementia, meaning that nurse educators must make decisions amidst uncertainty. DesignNominal group technique based on the conceptual framework proposed by Van de Ven and Delbecq (1972). MethodsA structured face-to-face meeting convened in November 2021 involved nine participants who were directly involved in dementia care. The steps in the technique were (a) idea generation, (b) round-robin recording, (c) discussion, (d) voting and ranking, (e) discussion on the vote and (f) re-ranking. Participants answered two nominal questions. Consent, anonymity, feedback and iteration were guaranteed throughout the process. ResultsThe nominal group prioritized theoretical understanding of dementia, communication, caregivers´ needs, comprehensive assessment and ethical practice as learning requirements for nursing students. The outstanding teaching strategy discussed included various approaches to experiential learning. ConclusionsThe nominal group technique process explored learning requirement priorities for student nurses within a specific context. Participants discussed experiential learning as the best-suited teaching strategy. Findings could support nurse educators to design and deliver better dementia education.

ТУРЕВСКИЙ АБРАМ АРКАДЬЕВИЧ (К 100-ЛЕТИЮ СО ДНЯ РОЖДЕНИЯ)

Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor A. A. Turevsky was the founder of the modern Department of Histology, Cytology and Embryology of Grodno State Medical University and was in charge of it for 30 years. A.A. Turevsky was an outstanding teacher, a brilliant lecturer and organizer of the educational process at the department, the founder of the Grodno Histological School. He trained 3 doctors and 10 candidates of sciences, for 22 years he was the scientific supervisor of the student’s scientific society. His name will forever remain in the memory of his students and history of Grodno State Medical University.

Max Reger and Ukraine in the Context of Music Research and Performing Practice

The authors highlight the main directions and approaches to the study of the legacy of the outstanding composer, conductor, performer and teacher Max Reger. Its 150th anniversary was celebrated on the European territory on March 19, 2023. The significant contribution of German musicology to the scientific development of Reger's legacy made it possible to expand the idea of the composer's work in informative-biographical, theoretical, musical-textological and performing aspects. The invaluable contribution of Max Reger's widow, Elsa Reger, who published the autobiography "My life with and for Max Reger" in order to disseminate any possible information about the character and work of her husband, is described. It is noted that during the artist's lifetime he was considered old-fashioned, and his music was seen as too difficult to understand. It was found that modern musicologists point out the uniqueness of the figure of M. Reger, which is manifested in his collection of key achievements of German culture and his contribution to the consolidation of stylistic trends from post-Romanticism to Neoclassicism. An attempt was made to trace the influence of M. Reger's music on the stylistic practice of Ukrainian composers, but, unfortunately, it was not successful due to the lack of confirmed facts. A coincidence in the activities and priorities of M. Reger and M. Skoryk was revealed, analogies with the work of the Ukrainian composer arose in the process of research. Such analogies include: the national idea "as the main factor in the formation of meaning-making landmarks" as well as the attitude of composers to sound material and its organization. Recently, there has been activity in the development of Ukrainian Regeriana, which is felt, first of all, in the last decades. Information about the latest research and interpretive approaches to the performance of M. Reger's music has been introduced into the scientific circulation in connection with his 150th anniversary. It is proved that the change in the vector of European performance practice at the turn of the 20th-21st centuries towards an increase in the significant weight of the performance of intellectual music determined M. Reger's work as a component of musical culture and a paradigm of the composer's influence already on modern performance in the world as a process. The figure of M. Reger is considered as one that resonates with his famous predecessor J.S. Bach. A conclusion is made regarding Reger's music, which is experiencing a renaissance period, demonstrates its scale, emotional and creative potential, but still remains underappreciated in Ukraine.
