IS TEACHERS’ EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE INDEPENDENT OF THEIR GENDER AND TEACHING EXPERIENCE? A CASE BASED STUDY

The present world is changing faster than ever before.People are hence facing unparalleled challenges in their lives.Nowadays,teachers at all levels are expected to perform multiple roles with efficacy; thereby management of emotions is very important.Managing emotion depends on one’s emotional intelligence. The present study investigated whether Higher Secondary school teachers’ emotional intelligence is independent or dependent ontheir gender and teaching experience. The study communicated thatthe Higher Secondary school teachers’emotional intelligence is independent of their gender and teaching experience.

Efektivitas Layanan Bimbingan Kelompok dalam Meningkatkan Kecerdasan Emosional Siswa

Low emotional intelligence can have negative impacts on yourself and others because you cannot take an appropriate attitude. Therefore, group guidance is very necessary to increase students’ emotional intelligence. The research method used is Quantitative with a Pre-experiment design Experimental method. The reseach subjects 11 students MTsN 11 Agam those selected using Purposive Sampling technique. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results of student data analysis after following group guidance 5 times stated that there was a significant difference in scores between the pretest and posttest of students’emotional intelligence after following group guidance.

Peran Gaya Pengasuhan Orang Tua dalam meningkatkan Kecerdasan Emosional pada Siswa Madrasah Ibtidaiyah di Kecamatan Pasar Minggu Jakarta Selatan

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationshipbetween parenting style and emotional intelligence inelementary school students in Pasar Minggu District, SouthJakarta. This research is a quantitative study using a surveymethod with a correlational approach. Collecting data in thisstudy using a questionnaire directly. Retrieval of data usingsimple random sampling technique. Sampling was carried outin five schools involving 309 students and parents ofMadrasah Ibtidaiyah students in Pasar Minggu district,namely MI Al-Hidayatussalafiyah, MI Sirojul Muslimin, MIAl Hikmah, MI Nurul Hidayah JP, and MI Faturrahman. Thedata collection for this study starts from January 2022 to July2022. To analyze the relationship between the test variablesused is the Spearman rank correlation. Before being tested,the data was tested for prerequisites, namely the normalitytest using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov. The results showed thatthere was a relationship between parenting style and students'emotional intelligence of 0.302 with sig. 0.000. Which meansthat parenting style is significantly related to students'emotional intelligence. The better the parenting style appliedby parents, the better the emotional intelligence of students.Thus, parents are advised to apply positive parenting styles,such as the emotional coach parenting style.

Reorienting Evaluator Competencies: Learnings from Evaluation Practice During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Background: The Covid-19 Pandemic has emphasized the need for evaluators to reorient their skills based on ongoing learnings from evaluations. As a result, evaluators must possess a variety of competencies to meet the challenges created by such unprecedented circumstances. Purpose: Using existing literature about evaluators' competencies and the experiences of conducting evaluations during pandemic, this paper proposes a set of competencies that enable an evaluator to collaborate meaningfully with grassroots organizations and co-design evaluations with communities that empower evaluators to think beyond the boundaries of a project intervention towards achieving a larger goal. Setting: Covid 19 Pandemic and evaluation practice in India Intervention: NA Research Design: Case study with interpretive approach Data Collection and analysis: NA Findings: The paper suggests that acquiring 'strategic thinking' and 'emotional intelligence and resilience' strengthens evaluators' competencies to be flexible and innovative in evolving evaluation methods.

Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Mathematical Problem Solving Ability

This study aimed to describe the level of students 'emotional intelligence, the level of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities, and the relationship between emotional intelligence and mathematical problem-solving skills. This research is a quantitative study using the ex post facto correlation method. The research sample was students of class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Teras Boyolali in the 2018/2019 academic year, and the sample was determined using the purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires, tests, and documentation. All data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, research data using the product moment formula, and hypothesis testing. The results of the study show that: (1) The emotional intelligence of students with low emotional intelligence is 28.1%, 37.5% moderate, and 34.4% high, Mathematical problem-solving abilities of students with low math problem-solving abilities with a percentage of 29.7%, moderate 35.9%, and high 34.4%, (3) After the data were analyzed using the product moment correlation technique, the correlation coefficient value was obtained from 0.586 and then compared table r with the number. A significant level of 1%, namely 0.2075. It is proven that the results count tabel r r  in this study are substantial, in the sense of the hypothesis which states, "There is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and the ability to solve math problems in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 District Teras Boyolali Regency".

The relationship between emotional intelligence and the learning motivation of students with specific learning disorders moderated by the inclusion ability of special education teachers in Arab minority in Israel

ABSTRACT This study examined the relationship between special education teachers'emotional intelligence and the learning motivation of students with specific learning disorders, moderated by the teachers' inclusion ability in regular education in Arab minority in Israel. The research setup is quantitative-correlative. The sample included 406 special education teachers (128 male and 278 female) in elementary and middle schools. The participants were asked to answer the following self-report questionnaires: sociodemographic background data, emotional intelligence, learning motivation, and a school inclusion index. The findings indicated significant positive relationships between emotional intelligence, school inclusion ability and learning motivation among the students from the teachers' viewpoint. In addition, the school inclusion variable was a moderator between the teachers' emotional intelligence and the learning motivation of the students with specific learning disabilities. Also, differences were found in the teachers' emotional intelligence and school inclusion ability on the demographic variables: age, gender, role and teaching experience. The necessary conclusion indicated that intelligent use of emotion and inclusion ability predict the learning motivation among students with specific learning disorders.

The mediating role of self-efficacy between emotional intelligence and academic achievement: a study among postgraduate students

This study examined the mediating effect of self-efficacy on the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement. A total of 257 postgraduate diploma students from the Bangladesh Institute of Management were conveniently sampled. The Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT) advanced by Schutte et al. (1998) was applied for measuring 'emotional intelligence'. In assessing self-efficacy, the study adopted the 'Generalised Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES)' formulated by Schwarzer and Jerusalem (1995). The study revealed that all the variables included in the study, i.e., emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, and academic achievement were significantly correlated to each other. Moreover, the results of the study showed that the link between emotional intelligence and academic achievement was fully mediated through self-efficacy. Based on the findings of the study, academic institutions are recommended to include emotional intelligence and self-efficacy in their curriculum.

The Effect of Emotional Intelligence on Maternity Role

Objectives: The relationship between emotion and intelligence is among the philosophical issues that have been discussed throughout human history. Scientists, who discovered that managing emotions has an important role in the success of people in personal and business life, developed the concept of 'emotional intelligence' and added emotional intelligence; they defined emotions as an ability to understand and to deal with emotions. This research was conducted to evaluate the relationship between the emotional intelligence of mothers and their motherhood role.
 Materials and Methods: 211 women who applied to the University Hospital Maternity Service and outpatient clinics were interviewed using "Personal Information Form", " Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test” (SSEIT) and "Semantic Difference Scale-I as Mother".
 Results: The average age of women was 35.7 ± 8.9. 47.9% had undergraduate and above education, 62.1% were employed and 85.8% had social security coverage. The Effect of Teacher Competence and Emotional Intelligence on Students Development Character at Senior High School Kristen Barana’

This article was to analyze the effect of teacher competence on students’ development character at SMA Kristen Barana, to analyze the effect of teachers’ emotional intelligence on the students’ development character at SMA Kristen Barana and to analyze the effect of teacher competence and teachers 'emotional intelligence simultaneously on students’ development character at SMA Kristen Barana. The researchers used quantitative method in the form of multiple regression. The data were obtained through a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire. Based on the results of teacher's competence testing on student character development, it was known that there was a significant effect of teacher's competence on students’ development character as indicated by the results of the t test where tcount = 5.857 was greater than ttable = 2.040. Based on the results of testing the teacher's emotional intelligence on students development character, it was known that there was a significant effect of emotional intelligence on students development character as indicated by the results of the t test where tcount= 3.920 was greater than ttable = 2.040. The results of multiple regression analysis show that there was an effect of teacher's competence and teacher's emotional intelligence on students’ development character at SMA Kristen Barana. It can be seen from the results of data analysis where Fcount > Ftable, Fcount is 17.860 and Ftable was 3.30. The coefficient of determination was 0.535, meaning that 53.5% of the teachers’ competence and teachers emotional intelligence variables together have an effect on the student development character variables.

A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF THE EFFECT IN USING RIDDLE GAME TECHNIQUE ON STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY

This research aimed to analyze the effect of the Riddle game technique on students’ vocabulary mastery can be an effective technique to increase students’ English vocabulary which is focused on synthesizing six previous studies (journals) about the Riddle game effect. The method of this research was using a systematic review. In this research, the sources consist of five journals and one proceeding conference paper. The sample of this research were six from eleven studies selected by inclusion and exclusion criteria using PRISMA Flow Diagram 2009. The data collection technique is library research or literature study through a search engine (Google Scholar) and repositories from other universities. The tool to collect the data was the PRISMA protocol. The data was analyzed by thematic analysis. The results of review showed that overall the students’ conditions of vocabulary mastery were changed into some advances, namely: (1) students’ score of English vocabulary was increased, (2) students’ language skill improved, (3) students’ intellection was developed, (4) students’emotional intelligence was increased. Therefore, students are more enthusiastic and enjoyed during vocabulary class. Shortly, these research sugessted to apply Riddle game in order to enhance students’ self confidence, critical thinking, and teamwork, which are needed for facing the competence in a world of job life.Keywords : Riddle Game, Systematic Review, and Vocabulary Mastery

The Effect of Training, Information Technology, Intellectual and Emotional Intelligence on Teacher’s Performance

The performance of a teacher has an important role in the success of education in general. This study aims to determine the factors that affect the decline in teacher performance in one of the junior secondary schools in Indonesia. Based on the literature review, four exogenous variables were identified, namely, training, utilization of information technology, intellectual intelligence, and emotional intelligence. This study uses primary data, collected from a questionnaire distributed to respondents. The questionnaire items are measured using a Likert scale. The sample in this study were all teachers at MTS Darul Falah Sirahan, totaling 32 people. The analysis technique used in testing the hypothesis of this study is multiple regression analysis. Statistical product and service solutions are used as analysis tools. The results of this study indicate that only the variable 'utilization of information technology' has a positive and significant effect. However, the variables 'training,' 'intellectual intelligence,' and 'emotional intelligence' did not have a significant effect. This finding contradicts the literature in general. Therefore, this study recommends improving training methods, both those carried out internally by schools and by related agencies, and schools still need to optimize guidance and potential for teacher's intelligence in improving performance.

The Influence of Asmaul Husna Dhikr on Adolescent Emotional Intelligence

Today, the reality of the condition of Indonesian society shows that there are symptoms of deterioration caused by a shift in the noble values ​​of the nation. Rampant juvenile delinquency and violation of norms, emotional intelligence is a basic condition for using intellectual intelligence effectively. Asmaul Husna's reading habit is one of the character education being pursued by the Surya Global Yogyakarta College of Health Sciences. Students are also trained and educated to develop their skills and mentality in a positive direction so that these educational institutions can produce superior and Islamic output, which is not only rely on theory in learning, but also experience in the field in facing the flow of globalization. The gap between the theory and practice of Asmaul's reading habits Husna with the level of students 'emotional intelligence, it is necessary to revisit considering the effect of Asmaul Husna's reading habit on students' emotional intelligence is not known. The research design is quantitative using the Emotional Intelligence Scale. The research was conducted at the College of Public Health Sciences. The research subjects were 65 adolescents, they were asked to fill in the pretest before Asmaul Husna dhikr intervention was carried out, and after going through the dhikr process for ten weeks the research subjects were asked to fill in the posttest. Pretest and posttest data were analyzed through the Wilcoxon test using SPSS 16. Based on the above results, it is known that the significance of 0.031 is smaller than 0.05, so it can be concluded that "Ha is accepted" This means that there is a difference in emotional intelligence between before and after Asmaul Husna's dhikr, so it can also be concluded that "There is an influence of Asmaul Husna's dhikr on adolescent emotional intelligence.

Impact of Emotional Literacy Training on Students’ Emotional Intelligence Performance in Primary Schools

The present study seeks to reveal the impact Emotional Literacy Training (ELT) that lasted for two months, on students' emotional intelligence performance. The study was designed as a quasi-experimental research. The experimental group consisted of 16 students, while 12 students were assigned to control group. Data in pre-test and post-test were collected through the Ten Years Emotional Intelligence Scale (TYEIS) developed by Coskun, Oksuz and Yilmaz (2017). Data were analysed through the paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. Findings of the study indicated that ELT significantly increased experimental group students' emotional intelligence performance and this significant increase remained permanently. Results were discussed according to Experiential Learning and Radical Behaviourism and in the light of relevant literature; several implications were developed for teachers, other school staffs and researchers.

Putting 'Emotional Intelligences' in Their Place: Introducing the Integrated Model of Affect-Related Individual Differences.

Numerous individual differences, models, and measures have been associated with the ‘emotional intelligence’ (EI) label. This paper discusses one of the most pervasive problems regarding EI-related individual differences, namely, the lack of a meaningful theoretical framework. First, drawing upon existing theoretical frameworks, we argue that EI-related characteristics can be considered constituents of existing models of cognitive ability (ability EI), personality (trait EI), and emotion regulation (EI competencies). Second, having differentiated between these perspectives (ability, personality, and emotion regulation), we draw upon existing theory and research to build the Integrated Model of Affect-related Individual Differences (IMAID), which provides an initial mechanistic representation that explains how the different EI-related constructs are likely to interrelate and coalesce to influence affective outcomes. In essence, the IMAID is an integrated mediation model in which emotion regulation mediates the effects of ability EI and affect-related personality traits upon outcomes. Viewing EI-related constructs as interrelated extensions of well-established individual difference frameworks clarifies some pervasive misconceptions regarding EI-related characteristics and provides scholars and practitioners with a clear and useful theoretical framework ripe for exploration. We conclude by using the IMAID to suggest a theoretically driven agenda for future research.

Meningkatkan Kecerdasan Emosional melalui Layanan Penguasaan Konten pada Siswa

The purpose of this study was to obtain an increase in low emotional intelligence students through mastery of content in class IX.E Gunungwungkal Pati Middle School 2 Semester II Academic Year 2017/20198. The aim to be achieved in this study is to obtain increased emotional intelligence of students through content mastery services in class IX.E Gunungwungkal Pati Middle School 2 Semester II Academic Year 2017 / 2018. Subjects examined in this study were students of class IX.E of SMP Negeri 2 Gunungwungkal Pati Semester II of 2017/1918 Academic Year taken by all children in one class. Research variables: mastery of content (independent variables) and emotional intelligence (dependent variables). Data collection method is the main method of observation, the pendukungg method is interview and documentation. Data analysis uses comparative descriptive. The research was carried out in 2 cycles (cycle I and cycle II) every cycle 3 meeting discussed 3 materials with a time allocation of 40 minutes. Based on the results of research on observations of 7 aspects of improving students 'emotional intelligence, it can be said that through the service of mastering the content of students' emotional intelligence can increase. This is evidenced by what is obtained from every observation made before the action and after the cycle which shows that the emotional intelligence of students has increased, namely in the pre cycle 14.2 in the first cycle: 15, 1 and in the second cycle: 26. Based on the results of the study discussion can It was concluded that content mastery services could improve emotional intelligence of class IX.E students of Gunungwungkal Pati Middle School 2 Semester II Academic Year 2017/2018.

Çalışanların Duygusal Zeka Becerilerinin İş Yaşam Kalitesi Algıları Üzerine Etkisi: Türkiye ve Azerbaycan Örneği

The aim of this study, in which employees 'emotional intelligence skills and perceptions of business quality of life are assessed in a holistic approach, determines the impact of employees' perceptions of emotional intelligence skills on perceived quality of work. The sample of the research is composed of academic staff of Azerbaijan State Agricultural University and Nevsehir Haci Bektas Veli University (n=231). Another goal of the research is to determine whether the perceptions of emotional intelligence and quality of life differ between the employees of these two countries. Society, the academicians working on behalf of countries and the development of science, need to be competent in directing their relations with other individuals and their surroundings. In this sense, it is important to determine the effect of the talents of the academicians on their perceptions about the quality of work life. The perception of business quality, which plays an important role in helping academics cope with the exhausting and stressful cycle of business life, will only be possible with a high emotional intelligence. Findings showed that the perceptions of academics working quality of work life in Turkey is higher than those working in Azerbaijan have been identified. It was also found that sociability, which is one of the emotional intelligence skills in both countries, has a positive effect on the perception of the quality of work life.

The Influence of Child Care Teachers’Emotional Intelligence, Emotional Labor, and Emotional Expressiveness on Interactions between Teachers and Young Children

본 연구의 목적은 보육교사의 정서지능, 정서노동, 정서표현성이 교사-영유아 상호작용에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보는 것이다. 연구대상은 서울, 경기지역의 어린이집에 근무하는 현직 교사 212명으로 질문지를 사용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 자료는 SPSS WIN 18.0 프로그램을 이용하여 빈도분석, ANOVA 검증과 Duncan 사후검증, Pearson 적률상관분석, 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 보육교사의 정서지능, 정서노동, 정서표현성, 교사-영유아 상호작용을 살펴본 결과 부분적으로 연령, 결혼유무, 학력, 근무기관, 근무경력에 따른 유의한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 교사-영유아 상호작용 전체는 정서지능 전체, 정서노동 전체, 정서표현성 전체와 유의미한 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 보육교사의 정서지능, 정서노동, 정서표현성이 교사-영유아 상호작용에 미치는 상대적 설명력은 정서표현성이 가장 높게 나타났다. 결론적으로 보육교사의 정서지능, 정서노동, 정서표현성은 서로 밀접한 상관관계를 가지며, 특히 정서표현성이 교사-영유아 상호작용에 영향을 미치는 가장 중요한 요인임을 확인하였다는 점에서 본 연구의 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

Advice for running a successful research team.

To explore what is meant by a 'research team' and offer practical suggestions for supporting an effective and productive, collaborative research team. Collaborative research has become one of the main objectives of most higher education institutions and running effective research teams is central to achieving this aim. However, there is limited guidance in the literature about how to run or steer a research team. Search engines/databases used: CINAHL, Nursing and Allied Health Source, Primo search, Google search and Health Collection to access research articles and publications to support this topic. Literature search was extended to the end of 2014. Publications were reviewed for relevance to the topic via standard literature search. Research teams vary in size and composition, however they all require effective collaboration if they are to establish successful and flexible working relationships and produce useful and trustworthy research outputs. This article offers guidance for establishing and managing successful collaborative research relationships, building trust and a positive research team culture, clarifying team member roles, setting the teams' research agenda and managing the teams' functions so that team members feel able to contribute fully to the research goals and build a culture of support and apply 'emotional intelligence' throughout the process of building and running a successful research team. Collaboration is a central component of establishing successful research teams and enabling productive research outputs. This article offers guidance for research teams to help them to function more effectively and allow all members to contribute fully to each team's goals. Research teams that have established trust and a positive team culture will result in more efficient working relationships and potentially greater productivity. The advice offered reinforces the value of having research teams with diverse members from different disciplines, philosophical roots and backgrounds. Each of these members should be able to contribute skills and expertise so that the parts of the team are able to develop 'synergy' and result in more productive, positive and rewarding research experiences, as well as more effective research.

A Study on Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Employee Performance in Indian IT Sector

Emotional intelligence is a relatively recent behavioral model gaining prominence with Daniel Goleman's 1995 book called 'Emotional Intelligence'. It is the ability to acquire and apply the knowledge from emotions of self and others. Indian IT industry is one of the highest contributors to Indian economy and is on its path of continued growth momentum. This study has investigated the relationship between emotional intelligence and the employee performance in Indian IT sector and demographic factors influencing emotional intelligence of IT employees. Data for the study were collected from 400 IT employees of select IT companies in Hyderabad using three questionnaires namely Emotional Intelligence with its four domains i.e. Self Emotion Appraisal (SEA), Others' Emotion Appraisal (OEA), Use of Emotion (UOE) and Regulation of Emotion (ROE) were set as independent variables while task performance is defined as dependent variable. Gender, age level, education and experience were selected as demographic variables of the study. Through careful analysis of data, a positive correlation was found between emotional intelligence domains (SEA, OEA, UOE and ROE) and the employee performance and it was concluded that emotional intelligence and performance of Indian IT employees are positively correlated. Significant relationships were established between all demographic factors of the study and emotional intelligence of employees. The conclusion was that the demographic factors of IT employees have significant contribution to emotional intelligence of employees.

국내 항공사 승무원의 감성지능이 고객지향성에 미치는 영향 -사회적 지원의 조절효과-

본 연구에서는 항공사 객실승무원을 대상으로 감성지능이 고객지향성에 미치는 영향을 파악해 보고자 하였다. 또한 승무원의 감성지능과 고객지향성의 관계에 있어 사회적 지원의 조절효과를 살펴봄으로써 감성지능 연구의 이론적 실무적 시사점을 제공하고자 하였다. 현재 운항중인 두 대형항공사의 객실승무원을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였으며 분석결과는 아래와 같다. 편의표본추출을 통해 233부의 설문지를 항공사 승무원을 대상으로 회수하였으며, 결측치가 있는 자료를 제외하고 214부를 활용하였다. SPSS 18.0을 통해 자료 분석을 실시하였으며 분석결과는 아래와 같다. 첫째, 감성지능은 이론적 고찰을 통해 자기감정인식, 타인감정인식, 감정조절, 감정활용의 하위요인으로 구분하였으며 그 중 자기감정인식을 제외한 모든 요인이 고객지향성에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 감성지능과 고객지향성의 관계에 있어 동료지원은 조절효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 상사지원과 조직지원은 감성지능과 고객지향성의 관계에 있어 부분적으로 조절효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 자료를 활용하여 팀워크를 강화할 수 있는 교육프로그램을 마련하고, 동료들 간의 관계를 돈독히 할 수 있는 프로그램을 제도적으로 마련하여 지원해주는 것이 필요하다. The principal objective of this study is to examine the relationship between the emotional intelligence and customer orientation in airline service context. Moreover, this study was designed to test the moderating effect of social support to provide fundamental and practical data for airline industry. In this study, 2 hypotheses based on literature reviews were employed. A questionnaire was also developed based on previous studies. A convenience sample of 233 flight attendants was surveyed and a total of 214 usable questionnaires were analyzed. Then the data and hypotheses were examined using multiple regression analysis using SPSS 18.0. The results are as follows. Firstly, emotional intelligence was divided into 'self-emotional appraisal', 'other's emotional appraisal', 'regulation of emotion' and 'use of emotion' according to the literature review. Analysis showed that emotional intelligence has partial effect on customer orientation accordingly. Secondly, social support has partial moderating effects between emotional intelligence and customer orientation. Continuous and systematic training program which build up team work should be conducted to administer 'emotional intelligence'.
