Barlaam Yasynskyi’s Sermon «On the Resurrection of Christ and the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary»

The sermons of Barlaam Yasynskyi, the Metropolitan of Kyiv, Galicia, and All Rus, a talented orator and thinker of the 17th century, are still unknown to a wide audience, as they exist in a single manuscript version. In this article, we propose to familiarize ourselves with the first metagraphed and described text of the sermon «On the Resurrection of Christ and the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary», which is interesting in terms of content, presentation, oratory skills, and philosophical views of the author. The sermon contains information that allows us to date the compilation of the collection, since until now the chronology has been determined only approximately. In the article accompanying the publication of the source, the authors suggest that the sermon itself should be dated March 25, 1695. The accompanying article also analyzes the linguistic features of the sermon, in particular, the tendency to record Ukrainian linguistic features in writing, despite the dominant Church Slavonic book tradition, which is clearly expressed in the sermon published here. The authors describe the peculiarities of the transmission of the sounds of live speech, certain grammatical phenomena, and stylistic devices.

Class, Human Rights, and Journalism: A Comparative Study of Delhi’s Institutes

“A social class is a category or group of persons having a definite status in society which permanently determines their relation to other group – feeling of superiority & inferiority. The relative position of the class in the social scale arises from the degree of prestige attached to the status.”P. GisbertAccording to some other definitions of class; given by Max Weber, Karl Marx, Hebbal etc., it is obvious that one of the indicators of class is the socio-economic status of the people associated with it. This socio-economic division is also visible among the government journalism institutes and private journalism institutes. Also, education as a fundamental human right is enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and many other international human rights instruments (What You Need to Know about the Right to Education | UNESCO, 2023.). A simple Google search can tell us the sizeable difference in the fees of journalism courses between government and private institutions; former in multiples of thousand and latter in lakhs. Thus, the lower- and middle-class students prefer government institutions over private institutions, as private institutes charge hefty fees. So, the students who take admission in private journalism institutions can be considered a class apart from those who are studying in government institutions. Since journalism is an exposure demanding field paired with the attributes like confidence, leadership and good oratory skills, class plays a major role here. It impacts the potential and capabilities of the students in the way of success. The students belonging to higher class are more confident, outspoken and well exposed, while those of the middle class or lower class are lacking on these fronts which hampers their prospect to become a renowned journalist.In this light, the study tries to quantify the class divide empirically in rationally selected private and government journalism institutes of Delhi by using questionnaire survey. The survey would be followed by focus group discussions at various selected institutes for in-depth investigation of the topic.

A atuação do professor universitário em Moçambique diante das mudanças sociais

The present research aims to analyze how this teacher's role can be beneficial for the quality of students' training and studies within universities. When talking about teaching activity in higher education, as well as other levels of education, other qualities are required, not just giftedness. Until the mid-1980s, the teaching professional in higher education was seen as a person with a degree, who is involved in the activity of their degree and, if possible, who had good oratory skills to transmit their knowledge. The methodological procedure was bibliographic and descriptive analysis of articles, theses and dissertations published and supported by authors such as: Nóvoa, (1995); Masetto, (2002); Parente, et al (2014); Pimenta (1999); Zabalza (2014); Cunha, (2007); Teixeira, (1999) combined with approaches to the training of higher education teachers and social changes, which are vast, we analyze these changes and the interferences that can interfere with the performance of university teachers in Mozambique. Through the analysis of the writings of these authors, they pointed out that the changes to teaching are not negative. However, they will only be truly positive if the teacher and the higher education institution are willing to make this change. Teaching only exists to share knowledge. When carrying out teaching activities, the professional must be open to these changes. Social changes affect the job market, and this directly reflects on the university that trains these professionals. In this sense, the teacher receives an even greater burden of concern, which may be a signal for the teacher's performance to be modified.

Spiritual Values in Emha Ainun Nadjib's Charismatic Leadership in Maiyah Congregation

Leadership is integral to human capital development within organizations. This study investigates the charismatic spiritual leadership of Emha Ainun Nadjib in Jamaah Maiyah, a community he has nurtured for three decades with a fluid, self-sustaining organizational structure. Through a qualitative phenomenological approach, this research delves into Emha Ainun Nadjib's leadership, drawing from interviews with his close associates and Jamaah Maiyah members, complemented by data from observations, texts, and videos. The findings reveal Emha Ainun Nadjib's innate leadership abilities, shaped by his lifelong journey and grounded in Islamic principles and the life of Prophet Muhammad. Emha Ainun Nadjib embodies several traits of charismatic leadership, including personal charisma, vision, exceptional oratory skills, courage, empathy, and the ability to inspire and position himself relative to his audience. His leadership style emphasizes influence rather than authority, inspiring Jamaah Maiyah members through his thoughts, conduct, and charisma. The study underscores the significance of ethical leadership rooted in spiritual values, highlighting the potential of religion to foster effective leadership. However, it acknowledges limitations in confirming the broader application of Emha Ainun Nadjib's leadership beyond his immediate circle and Jamaah Maiyah.

Developing Students' Self-Confidence, Thought Processes, and Oratory Skills at Unidad Educativa Charter Salesiana San José

The significance of oratory skills in an individual’s personal and professional life is profoundly impactful. Oratory is not merely a means of communication; it is a powerful tool that can influence one's self-confidence, interpersonal relationships, and overall success. This research aims how to boost students' self-confidence in oratory skills, thereby enhancing their active participation, resilience in making mistakes, and overall proficiency in English. A mixed-method convergent design was applied, with a survey and a semi-structured interview. The findings suggest that well-developed public speaking skills lead to a significant increase in self-confidence levels, thereby enriching the student's academic and personal lives by providing them with the chance to learn a second language. Furthermore, this research aims to make a significant contribution to the educational approach and similar institutions by providing empirical support for the integration of oratory skills training into the curriculum as the most important, thereby promoting a holistic educational environment.

Max Weber’s Athens: The entanglement between charismatic domination and non-legitimate domination

Contemporary reconstructions of Max Weber’s theory of democracy have failed to recognise Weber’s comparative-historical approach vis-à-vis the question of democracy. This article addresses this gap with respect to his understanding of Athenian democracy. It demonstrates that Weber’s interpretation of Athenian democracy provides a dual understanding of domination. On the one hand, Weber describes the demagogues in Athens as exercising charismatic domination through their oratory skills over ordinary citizens. On the other hand, Weber characterises the institutional structure of Athenian democracy with the atypical case of non-legitimate domination [ nichtlegitime Herrschaft]. Weber maintains that the holders of office in Athens were ultimately accountable and responsible to the ordinary people who exercised their political power in popular assemblies and popular courts. Weber interprets Athenian democracy as characterised by the entanglement between charismatic domination and non-legitimate domination. Thus, this article argues that Weber’s concept of Herrschaft is an open concept which results in his amalgamation of charismatic domination and non-legitimate domination in explaining the institutionalisation of Athenian democracy. In the end, how to maintain political leadership within democratic institutional structures was the question of democracy for Weber.

The Effectiveness of a Tailored Faculty Development Program for Undergraduate Mentoring and Its Impact on Mentor's Perceptions: A Mixed Methods Study.

"Anubandh" the existing mentorship program at our institute used to start with enthusiasm but lacked sustainability throughout the year. This study aimed to assess the need for designing and conducting a faculty development program (FDP) and evaluating its impact on effective mentoring. FDP was designed by assessing the perception of 50 teachers regarding undergraduate (UG) mentoring at a tertiary care teaching institutein central India, the NKP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center and Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Nagpur, India.It was developed and conducted by focusing on the global overview, mentoring policies of the instituteand rationale while implementing mentorship. The effectiveness of FDP was tested by a change in pretest-posttest scores for assessing their knowledge and reflections on undergraduate mentoring. In the pre-FDP perceptions by mentors, the majority agreed that mentorship should be an integral part of the UG curriculum. Teachers felt that mentorship is an additional workload that needs to be given weightage in self-appraisal forms. A total of 81.2% of mentors emphasized on need for academic, social, and personal mentoring. After the FDP, there was a statistically significant improvement in the knowledge and attitude of mentors in all the assessed domains (χ2=2.648; df=6; p<0.05) like the need for UG mentoring in medical college and the role of faculties as a mentor. FDP sessions were appreciated by mentors for being motivating, interactive, and highly engaging with speakers having good oratory skills and using inspiring techniques with an overall rating of 9.2/10. There was an overall positive attitude about mentoring but many expressed the need for training in mentorship. The FDPwas highly effective in improving the knowledge and attitude of mentors for effective mentoring.

"We Have a Right to Live in This Country": Reverend Moses Broyles and the Struggle for Social Justice and Racial Equality in Nineteenth-Century Indiana

ABSTRACT: Rev. Moses Broyles (1826–1882) ranks as a leading figure in Indiana's African American religious, political, racial, educational, and legal history. Born a slave in Maryland, he was sold as a child to John Broyles of Paducah, Kentucky, from whom he purchased his freedom in 1854. Thence he moved to Lancaster, Indiana, where he enrolled at the Eleutherian Institute. In 1857, he relocated to Indianapolis and joined the Second Baptist Church. Recognizing his oratorical skills and spiritual leadership, its members soon called Broyles as their pastor. As a bi-vocational minister, Rev. Broyles also taught at a private school for African American children and helped integrate Indianapolis High School. He was a fierce opponent of slavery who demanded equal rights and privileges for African Americans as U.S. citizens. Later, he served as a statewide leader in the Republican Party of Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant even as he challenged Indiana's anti-Black laws.

Historical and genetic generalization of ideas of formation qualities of service leadership

The article reveals the genesis of the ideas of the formation of service leadership at various stages of the development of human civilization and analyzes the most modern works devoted to the training of leaders, both Ukrainian and foreign authors. It is emphasized that with the emergence of the states of the Ancient East, ancient thinkers emphasized that a true leader knows truth and falsehood, teaches his subjects and leads them from benevolent motives. In the days of Antiquity, it was believed that there will always be intelligent and knowledgeable people on the rowing waves, and happiness can be achieved if kings and lords begin to philosophize nobly and persistently. It is argued that in the context of the Roman pedagogical tradition, an important component of the content of training leaders was the formation of oratorical skills. It is emphasized that during the Middle Ages, attention was paid to the formation of spiritual qualities, moral skills, the leader's faith in God and his observance of God's Commandments. At the same time, it is emphasized that during the Renaissance there was a turn to the principles and ideals of the ancient cultural heritage, and in the New Age and the Age of Enlightenment, feudal relations, the church and absolutism were condemned, and the ideas of education and philanthropism were promoted in the education of leaders. It is noted that in modern times, thinkers searched for new approaches, concepts for the formation of service leadership qualities in line with reformist pedagogy, the movement of a new school, which was created by the elite to train industry managers. At the same time, it is noted that in Independent Ukraine, significant attention was paid to the formation of leadership qualities in the fields of pedagogy, psychology, leadership, management, history, and social psychology.

An Insight into the Eventful Journey of a Freedom Fighter, Writer and Social Reformer

Chinna Annamalai, a passionate freedom fighter, a remarkable Tamil enthusiast and a dedicated social reformer played a significant part in India’s freedom struggle in the southern part of Tamil Nadu and contributed to various social causes. He earned several nicknames like “Desiya Semmal,” “Thiyaga Semmal”. and ” Tamizh Thondar.” He had his early education in Karaikudi and pursued his higher secondary education at Nagarathar High School in Devakottai. Influenced greatly by his cousin Litterateur Kamban Adippodi Sa. Ganesan, he became involved in the Congress Movement and met Mahatma Gandhi during his visit to Karaikudi. Impacted at the very first sight by Gandhi’s charisma and simplicity and integrity, Chinna Annamalai became a staunch supporter of the Congress Movement and remained a staunch member of the party throughout his life. As an enthusiastic advocate of India’s liberation, he participated in numerous events and processions that resulted in temporary suspension of his education at Devakottai. He later studied in Vairavizha High School in Gopichettipalayam. Chinna Annamalai’s activism and oratory skills drew the attention of great leaders; and he had the opportunity to speak at the Congress Conference in Gobichettipalayam and his fiery speech elicited appreciation for its eloquence. From then on he started wearing Khadar and continued that habit till his death. He remained actively engaged in various movements of India’s independence struggle, including the Quit India Movement. To divert young Chinna Annamalai’s attention from the freedom struggle activities his father sent him to Malaysia and his participation in protests against alcohol in Malaysia led to his expulsion from that country. Again in India he participated in the freedom struggle with renewed vigour. His dedication to the cause of India’s freedom resulted in several arrests and imprisonments, with an instance of public support for his release from the jail. His exhortations to the Tamil community to participate in struggles for India’s freedom remains a significant part of his legacy. Chinna Annamalai also made contributions to Tamil literature and the film industry, writing scripts for successful movies with social messages and establishing a Fan Club for a star actor Shivaji Ganesan. By launching Tamil Pannai, a publishing concern, he inspired many to establish similar companies that richly contributed the growth of modern Tamil Literature. In short his life was one of endless pursuits and achievements contributing to the national and societal welfare.

Cartoon Chronicles: Nurturing Oratory Skills in Junior High

This study aimed to assess the impact of utilizing cartoon movies as a learning medium in teaching monologue to enhance speaking abilities among junior high school students. Employing a pretest-treatment-posttest design within a pre-experimental study model, the research focused on a classroom using the cartoon movie "Ponyo" alongside the conventional program-based teaching method. The interactive and culturally rich Japanese cartoon with a theme centered on teen imagination was applied in the treatment, involving 29 students from class B. The results, based on monologue technique assessments, demonstrated favorable opinions from students regarding the cartoon movie medium. However, while the findings indicated an improvement in speaking abilities, the effect was not statistically significant. This study provides insights into the potential of cartoon movies as an engaging educational tool and suggests avenues for further research and instructional refinement. Highlights : The study explores the use of cartoon movies as a dynamic medium for enhancing monologue instruction in junior high school settings. While student opinions on the cartoon medium were positive, the research highlights a significant yet non-statistically significant improvement in speaking abilities, suggesting further avenues for exploration and instructional development. "Ponyo," a culturally rich Japanese cartoon, is employed to supplement traditional teaching methods, fostering interactive learning experiences. A revisited version of the disputatio for pharmacological training: An educational study

The disputatio is a pedagogical method existing since the Middle-Ages where students had to debate about a question asked by a "master", exercising their thinking and oratory skills. To move away from traditional vertical teaching methods, the disputatio has been revived by pharmacologists. Thus, for almost three successive years, several groups of young French pharmacologists and therapists confronted their ideas concerning a medical question at a therapeutic impasse. The aim here is to describe the initial feedback received from participants. An anonymous questionnaire was sent by email in May 2023 to the participants of the different disputationes of 2019, 2022 and 2023. Participants were asked about different aspects of their feelings before, during and after the disputatio, using the 5-point Likert scale. They were also asked to describe the event in 2 to 5 words. Finally, participants could leave their comments in a free-field and were asked to give an overall satisfaction score out of 10. Out of the 39 participants, 27 (69.2%) answered the questionnaire. Although 50% of respondents reported a feeling of anxiety before participating, most enjoyed the expert talks as well as working with people they did not know. Besides, over 66% reported having underestimated the skills they could share with colleagues from different backgrounds. Over 55% of respondents reported progress in methodology, and over 83% in pharmacology and/or therapeutics. Participants reported an overall satisfaction score of 8.6/10, and the main terms used to describe the event were "sharing", "enriching" and "meeting". The disputatio is an innovative training program whose pedagogical and human values were underlined by most of the participants. Beyond pharmacology and therapeutics, the principle of disputatio could be extended to other disciplines, spanning the centuries.

Reflective Practices of Pre-Service Teachers: Self-reflections on Micro Teaching

This study aims to reveal pre-service teachers' (PSTs) self-reflections on micro-teaching practices. The study was conducted with a qualitative approach. The participants of the study consisted of 117 PSTs from 9 different branches who took the Micro-teaching (Elective) course at the faculty of education of a state university in Türkiye in the 2021-2022 academic year. According to the aim of the study, PSTs did micro-teaching practices. The micro-teaching practices were video-recorded and watched by the PST. The practice was evaluated by the PSTs peers and delivered to the PST in writing. The qualitative data of the study were obtained with the "Self-reflection Form" prepared by the researchers. This form consists of two open-ended questions about the strengths and weaknesses that pre-service teachers realized during the microteaching practice. The data were analyzed by content analysis method. It was found that PST described their strengths and weaknesses in planning, process, and assessment categories. PSTs emphasized their weaknesses more than their strengths for the planning category. In the category of planning, pre-service teachers stated that their strengths were that they were able to prepare lesson plans with well-rounded activities and integrity, and their weaknesses were that they could not manage their time properly and that they realized that the activities and examples were not suitable for the grade level. In the category of processing, they emphasized strengths more than weaknesses. The PSTs consider themselves strongest in lesson management and stated that they need to improve their diction, voice, and oratory skills. The assessment was the least opinioned category by the PSTs. For the assessment of the lesson, PSTs thought that they achieved the outcome by focusing on the teaching process, which was considered successful.

The importance of communication skills in the formation of leadership competence of future specialists in navigation and management of ships

The article analyses the content of leadership competence and substantiates the need for communication skills for the professional activity of future specialists in ship navigation and ship handling. It is determined that the formation of leadership competence is aimed not only at achieving personal success, but also at ensuring the safety of crew members and strengthening the mental health and well-being of seafarers. The study has shown that the priorities in the development of leadership competence are communication skills (diplomacy, developed oratory skills, persuasiveness); determination (stress resistance); responsibility and dedication; development of thinking (speed, logic, criticality). The necessity of improving the «soft» skills of seafarers is actualised, which is possible through the introduction of the author's special course and active forms of work in the educational process of higher education institutions, aimed at developing leadership competence in specialists in ship navigation and ship management. It is substantiated that the leader's communication skills can be useful for the following purposes: improving crew morale, increasing the productivity of professional duties and facilitating internal communication. It is established that the formation of leadership competence involves taking into account individual psychological characteristics in the process of formation, high self-esteem, positive attitude, cognitive activity, emotional stability, courage, self-control, communication and organisational skills and systematic creation of situations. The prospects for the development of communication skills are to improve the maritime education system at all levels and to provide conditions for the development of leadership competence of future officers

Manipal model of telepsychiatry.

Telepsychiatry can be understood as an interactive mental health service providing mode using information and communication technology. In recent decades, services provided under the umbrella term of telepsychiatry expanded to cater clinical services, diagnostic services, interventions, therapies, education, and research. Since telepsychiatry has been practiced in India for two decades, various models have emerged to meet the country's demands and the logistics that are available. Both synchronous and asynchronous modes of telepsychiatry had been in practice in India depending on the availability of logistics. Most of the telepsychiatry services in India had focused on providing clinical care to reach the unreached population. Furthermore, telepsychiatry had been used to train mental health professionals and healthcare workers from other disciplines. However, not many models had incorporated the idea of hands-on training of the postgraduates/trainees of psychiatric social work (PSW) in telepsychiatry under supervision. This was addressed in the Manipal model of telepsychiatry. Manipal model of telepsychiatry has begun in 2016 with a novel idea to train mental health profession trainees in addition to cover other clinical services, research, and education. In the last eight years, four centers of Karnataka state have been covered under this model with progressive growth in a number of patients and this acted as a hands-on training model for the postgraduate trainees in starting telepsychiatry services independently. Furthermore, it provided an opportunity to develop the organization skills of trainees, improved their oratory skills, and improved their expertise in using information technology for mental healthcare delivery.

Algal association and angiosperm diversification from the early Cretaceous (Springhill Formation) of Patagonia: Insights into palaeoclimate and aquatic environments at Río Correntoso locality, Argentina

Well-preserved and diverse Early Cretaceous palynological assemblages were studied from an outcrop section of the Springhill Formation at the Río Correntoso locality (PRC), close to Ghío Lake, in Santa Cruz Province, Patagonia, Argentina. The studied log corresponds to the northernmost outcrops known for the Springhill Formation in the Austral Basin. Most of the palynomorphs algae (Botryococcus, Sphaeroplea, Lecaniella, Zygnema, Pseudoschizaea, Schizosporis, Ovoidites), and some angiosperm pollen grains (Proxapertites, Longapertites, Arecipites) are distinctive and characterize the palaeoenvironment and palaeoclimate of PRC, which was dominated by estuarine coastal margin sedimentites deposited under warm and humid conditions. These angiosperm pollen grains correspond to the earliest record of these group in Patagonia, represented by diverse monosulcates and one rare tricolpate type. This new record of angiosperm pollen in the Springhill Formation provides further evidence that one of the earliest diversifications of angiosperms started at least during the early Cretaceous in Patagonia.Sergio Archangelsky provided an invaluable expertise in the field of paleobotany in multiple ways. Nawab Bahadur Yar Jang: A Catalyst in the Formation of Pakistan

Nawab Bahadur Yar Jang was a prominent leader in the freedom movement in the State of Hyderabad, playing a significant role in the socio-political activities of his time. He is remembered for his inspiring speeches, delivered with fiery oratory skills in Urdu, that captured the attention of millions of people at the local and national level. During his 39 years of service to the nation from 1905–1944, he formed socio-political organizations to safeguard the interests of his community, including the State Muslim League, which protected the political rights of Muslims in the state of Hyderabad. Jang not only projected the demands of Muslims through this organization, but also played a pivotal role in carrying the message of the Muslim League to other states. Jang's dynamic role in generating political awakening and uniting the States Muslims under the platform of the Muslim League was crucial in cultivating social and political consciousness, which paved the way for the creation of Pakistan. This paper focuses on his invaluable services in cultivating the social and political consciousness of States Muslims, bringing success to the Muslim League in the Northwest Front. As far as the methodology of the present study is concerned, it is based on quantitative historical-descriptive approach. Various sources have been consulted for the present study including primary and secondary sources.

ПСИХОЛОГІЯ МАРКЕТИНГУ В УМОВАХ ВІРТУАЛЬНОЇ РЕАЛЬНОСТІ БІЗНЕСУ: МОТИВАЦІЙНИЙ АСПЕКТ

&#x0D; In the article, the author expressed the opinion that among the main motives that prompt an individual to take actions such as making purchases, it is worth mentioning the motive of acquiring a new one, the words of stability, the motive of independence, the motive of justice, the motive of competitiveness, desire, inclination, urges, needs, complexity, motive of self-affirmation. The client’s motivational chain “needs – desires – satisfaction” is presented. It was determined that it is characterized by such process components as needs, desires, tensions, actions, results and satisfaction. It is argued by the study of the article that the principles of marketing psychology in virtual reality should include gaining trust, using empathy, studying people, persuading the client, showing care and respect on the part of the seller, charisma, and perfect oratorical skills.&#x0D; The opinion is expressed that today the skills of cross-cultural communication and interaction are necessary for both marketers and sellers. The author presents methods that should be used in marketing psychology in the virtual reality of business, namely: working with emotions, the application of conversational techniques, the application of body language, determining the main channel of client communication, the feeling of ownership, the use of “Socratic dialogue”. It is noted that the so-called “cold sales”, which are primarily based on the basics of marketing psychology, are gaining popularity today.&#x0D; As a result of the study, it was found that modern brands use psychology to attract the attention of consumers and motivate them in every way to buy. Thus, the following principles are included in the strategies of entrepreneurial activity: the phenomenon of Baader-Meinhof or “Illusion of frequency”, the power of images and stories, anthropomorphism, the lure effect, fear of loss. Playback Theatre and Narratives: A Micro-Level Study on the Development of the Oracy Through “Collaborative” Applied Art Process

Drama strategies refer to the methods and processes used by language instructors for many years. These strategies are intended to involve learners in the creative process while exploring a concept, narrative, or thought. The students are encouraged to develop inquiry skills and use their imagination to gain understanding when theatre techniques are used. This study is intended to identify the impact of narratives in Playback Theatre that develops the oracy skills of the second language learners. The students pursuing bachelors’ degree have been surveyed from Tamil Nadu, India. The aspects with respect to Oracy skills namely vocabulary, intended meaning, structure grammar, pronunciation and pragmatic have been evaluated. The study also examines whether the relationship between the independent and dependent variables is moderated by the medium of instruction i. e. Playback theatre-based instruction influenced the oratory skills of the second language learners. The outcome shows that intended meaning and pragmatics are the most influential factor than vocabulary, pronunciation and structure grammar. The results show that teaching through Playback Theatre through collaborative learning enhances the oracy skills of the bachelor degree students.
