The Anne Frank house is a very literal and powerful example of a confined space, where numerous and diverse experiences took place and are still taking place. In the first part of the article the author focuses onthe original experiences of Anne Frank during her time in hiding duringthe Second World War, which were recorded in her diary. Nowadays, thesame building hosts the Anne Frank Museum, which is one of the most popular museums in the Netherlands. The author of this article analyses opinions of visitors published on Trip Advisor and notes that the experience of visiting this museum is connected with various strong emotions. This experience is often considered to be unique and one of a kind. On this basis, she suggests that the Anne Frank Museum, and the Secret Annex in particular, can be considered as an experiencescape.

Nazi Concentration Camp Vocabulary in Oral Interpreting in the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in the Opinion of Interpreters and Spanish-Speaking Visitors
 The article presents some of the results obtained as part of multi-stage research project that was carried out in 2018-2020. Its purpose was to collect information on interpreting performed for visitors at the Auschwitz- Birkenau State Museum. The article discusses the difficulty of translating the camp vocabulary when performing the above-mentioned interpreting. Thirty interpreters shared their views on the oral translation as well as 96 visitors, for whom the information during the tour was provided by a Spanish speaking interpreter.

Built environment and water: Toward a better quality of life

Covid-19 pandemic reminds us repeatedly of the need to keep clean such as washing hands. This shows that the presence of water in the midst of human activities is important. This article examines what if the element of water is presented naturally in the between human activities: its psychological effects and design. The study was conducted by raising and describing the conditions of settlements in Indonesia which are still in direct contact with the water element and the benefits provided by its existence. Furthermore, the right design to make these water facilities actually have a better impact on the quality of human life will be studied by giving examples of related and similar facilities. These facilities are considered adequate supported by visitor opinions and scientific approach in supporting the prevention of Covid-19 transmission through physical distancing. Studies show that facilities that provide direct access for visitors in contact with water have a better impact and are more attractive to visitors in addition to other existing features.

Visitors’ values and perceptions of seal watching management in Northwestern Iceland

Disturbance due to tourism may impact the critically endangered population of harbor seals (Phoca vitulina) in Iceland. Improved seal watching management is a promising strategy for seal conservation in Iceland. Previous research indicates that value orientation of tourists can predict acceptance of wildlife management and awareness of potential impacts of tourism on seals. The goal of this study was to (a) define biospheric and egoistic value orientation of seal watching visitors, (b) investigate how these values correlate with the opinion of visitors towards different management actions and awareness of potential impact of tourism on seals, and (c) investigate which management actions would be acceptable for visitors. Visitor questionnaires were distributed in NW Iceland (n = 597). Results show that seal watching visitors in general had high biospheric values, low egoistic values, and were open to most management actions suggested in the study. High biospheric values were correlated with acceptance of management actions and awareness of the usefulness of regulations. High egoistic values were correlated with low acceptance of management actions and low awareness of the impacts of seal watching. Results will inform managers on how to optimize management strategies at seal watching sites in Iceland and elsewhere.

A well-known national park in Hungary, the Balaton Uplands National Park and the Bakony-Balaton Geopark, offers a diverse range of ecotouristic and geotouristic products. The presentation of the geological and topographical treasures of the land, the local representatives of the flora and fauna and the culture inherited from the history is carried out by the representatives of the surrounding settlements. From a research point of view, the geological demonstration sites and nature trails provide the most useful information. Our goal is to evaluate the opinions and demographic characteristics of the visitors, and to examine touristic behaviour. With the help of the questionnaire research, we are looking for answers to questions about how well the remarks of the hikers meet the preliminary expectations? Where are there territorial differences or similarities in relation to each external or substantive feature of each site? All this is important, because the value qualifying role of the tourist is highlighted through the evaluation of visitor opinions. This allows the guest to highlight the positives and shortcomings of each route and the comments will greatly help the work of the national park and geopark.

Neolithic Site of Çatalhöyük in Online Visitor Comments

Teknolojideki gelişim ivmesini en yakından takip eden sektörlerden biri turizm sektörüdür. Turizm sektörünün dijital ortama teması; işletmelere, ziyaretçilere, turistlere, ziyaret edilecek lokasyonlara uzaktan erişim olanağı sağlamıştır. Mevcut çalışmada dijital platformlara gelen ziyaretçi yorumları, Google Haritalar kapsamında ele alınmıştır. Çatalhöyük Neolitik Kenti’ni ziyaret eden yerli ve yabancı turistlerin ziyaret sonrası alan ile ilgili olumlu-olumsuz yorumları ve 5 yıldız üzerinden yaptıkları puan değerlendirmeleri içerik analizi yöntemi ile incelenmiştir. İlk ziyaretçi değerlendirmesinin yapıldığı 2012 yılı ve 01.11.2020 tarihi arasında antik kent için yapılmış 1321 ziyaretçi değerlendirmesi, SPSS paket programına aktarılmış ve ilişki arayıcı değerlendirmeler program üzerinden yapılmıştır. 
 Çatalhöyük Neolitik Kenti yeni yönetim planı hazırlığının devam ettiği süreçte, alana dair ziyaretçi görüş ve önerilerinin belgelenmesi ve aktarımı amacı ile hazırlanan mevcut çalışmada, olumlu ve olumsuz yorum içerikleri dokuz başlıkta kodlanmış, başlıklara gelen yorumlar sayısal veriler ile belgelenmiştir. Toplamda 420 ziyaretçi yorumu incelenmiştir. Olumlu ziyaretçi yorumlarında model ev ve ücretsiz giriş ifadeleri sıklığı en yüksek başlıklardır. Antik kent çevresinde bakımsızlık ve yol güzergâhında bilgilendirme eksikliği ise olumsuz yorumlarda en sık yer alan ifadeler olmuştur. Ziyaretçi yıldız değerlendirmelerinde, 1321 ziyaretçinin %74’ünün (981) alana dair memnuniyet düzeyi yüksek çıkmıştır. Alana 5 yıldız değerlendirmesi yapan ziyaretçilerin de yorumlarında eleştirilere yer verdiği, sonraki ziyaret planları için kazı yönetim ve görevlilerine önerilerde bulunduğu görülmüştür. Destinasyon imajında gerekli görülen ziyaretçi görüşlerine dijital platformlardan erişim imkanı mevcut çalışmada örneklenmiştir .

EVALUASI PAMERAN BUKU TAHUN 2017 SAMPAI DENGAN 2019 DISELENGGARAKAN OLEH PERPUSTAKAAN FAKULTAS EKONOMI UNIVERSITAS ISLAM INDONESIA

The book exhibition organized by the Fakultas Ekonomi Universitas Islam Indonesia Library Division is a form of community service especially for the FE UII academic community. This event is regularly held once a year and is part of a series of UII anniversary events. To improve the quality of implementation, evaluation is necessary, according to Bertrand the appropriate model is an assessment model for the media. The evaluation method used is descriptive qualitative. Primary data were obtained through interviews and observations, and secondary data were obtained from literature studies in accordance with the intended topic. The assessment of the exhibition by participants and visitors follows an assessment model of the media which consists of five components, namely attraction, acceptability, comprehension, self involvement and persuation. The collected data about the exhibitions were confirmed by the theory referred to, and also confirmed with the opinions of visitors and exhibitors through direct interviews. The results of the evaluation show that the components of attraction, acceptability, self involvement and persuation are in accordance with expectations, while the components of comprehension are not yet optimal.

Effects of personality, health and mood on satisfaction and quality perception of urban mountain parks

The aim of this study was to examine whether personality traits, health status, and moods are systematically related to perceived urban mountain park quality and recreation satisfaction. Previous studies on park-related satisfaction have typically tried to understand the effects of environmental attributes on people’s recreation satisfaction. However, park satisfaction studies also require careful consideration of visitor opinions and individual traits such as personality, health, and mood, as these will likely have an impact on perceptions and satisfaction. First, an urban mountain park quality perception scale (UMPQPS) was developed to assess perceived park quality through semi-structured interviews and content analysis. The UMPQPS ultimately included 17 attributes which were then used in a second study. We collected data by on-site interviewing 770 park visitors (677 questionnaires were valid) to three urban mountain parks in Fuzhou, China. Direct and indirect effects of personality traits, health status, and moods on ratings of perceived urban mountain park quality and recreation satisfaction were investigated using path analysis. Personality mainly affected park quality perception and satisfaction indirectly through the paths of health and mood, while the effects of health status and moods were both direct and indirect. Individual socio-demographic variables were correlated with personality, health, and mood, and mainly influenced park quality perception and satisfaction indirectly. This study contributes to the current body of knowledge, where previous studies of park satisfaction have sometimes overlooked these factors. Findings can support park design and management, ultimately enhancing visitor perceptions and satisfaction.

Tourism planning in the Azores and feedback from visitors

Tourism planning is increasingly a fundamental process for qualifying and increasing the competitiveness of tourist destinations, especially when it is required to take into account the new needs of tourists and the global trend towards meeting the principles of sustainable tourism. This study aims to analyse the improvements that, in the opinion of visitors, should be implemented in Ponta Delgada, the largest hub of tourism activity in the Azores (Portugal), detecting differences between specific groups of visitors in order to contribute to the territorial organisation and the optimisation of tourism experiences. Four hundred answers to a survey distributed among tourists who visited this Azorean municipality were analysed, using several statistical methods, such as the chi-square test of independence and some Hierarchical Cluster Analysis algorithms. The main conclusions refer to the statistically significant associations between the mean of transport used to travel and views of some aspects to be improved, with signs of patterns in visits and critical attitude.

THE FUNCTION OF PROTECTED NATURAL AREAS OF THE VOJVODINA PROVINCE IN SUSTAINABLE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT

To determine the state of sustainable tourism development in the protected natural areas of AP Vojvodina, it is important to analyze and correlate certain indicators of sustainable tourism. It is also important to analyze the opinion of visitors according to the selected protected natural areas, from the perspective of experiences and potential suggestions for specific interventions, to improve the state of natural values and improve the area protection. As a final result, it can provide significant benefits for all participants of sustainable tourism development. This paper analyzed and presented the results of visitor responses regarding 5 selected protected natural areas on the territory of AP Vojvodina. These areas represent a significant sample for analysis and the results of the research can influence the overall assessment of the sustainable tourism development of the Province. Using the correlation method of obtained average values of estimated sustainability indicators, the relation of these indicators to sustainable tourism was defined. The results obtained can influence the constitution of proposals for the improvement of the natural values of these areas through the proper implementation of nature protection. By enhancing these natural values, benefits are provided to all participants in sustainable tourism development.

Management priorities from tourists’ perspectives and beach quality assessment as tools to support sustainable coastal tourism

Recently coastal tourism has increased dashingly; however, it has negatively affected environmental, social and cultural sustainability. Algarve is the most visited tourist attraction in Portugal with a large number of beautiful beaches. Due to negative tourism impacts and climate change, coastal tourism management tools need to be assessed and implemented. Most beach areas have the dual mandate of conserving natural resources and providing opportunities for recreation and tourism. This paper aims to develop a methodology for sustainable beach management. An urban, rural, resort and remote beach type were chosen as case studies. The proposed methodology for assessing beach quality and effective beach management consisted of three parts: initially, SWOT analysis was performed, where overcrowding, coastal urbanization, ecosystem degradation and coastal erosion due to sea level rising emerged as main future threats. Beach quality evaluation was assessed using the Bath Area Registration and Evaluation (BARE) method. Face-to-face interviews were conducted to get the beach visitor's opinions. An Importance–performance (I–P) analysis has been applied to identify the service quality gap and the most appropriate actions to improve beach management. For most of the beach attributes, satisfaction exceeded importance, and hence no management attention was needed. Exceptions were the condition of litter facilities, public toilets, showers and associated footpaths, the use of renewable energy, and the presence of litter in sand and vegetation health. For these, satisfaction was lower than importance, suggesting management attention is needed. The combined methodology allowed to identify beach management priorities resulting in enhanced visitors' experiences and protecting the natural environment.

Examining the Spatial Variability of Geosite Assessment and Its Relevance in Geosite Management

Assessment is the initial step for experts on geoheritage and geotourism when designating geosites in a certain area. During this process, geologically interesting outcrops, formations and places are examined with the use of different criteria to see if they are suitable for geoconservation and geotourism purposes. A quantitative assessment method—Modified Geosite Assessment Model (M-GAM)—was applied in the study area, which is part of the Bakony–Balaton UNESCO Global Geopark in Hungary. M-GAM uses a weight factor (importance) that expresses the opinion of geotourists about 27 infrastructural, tourism and scientific indicators. This factor was examined by questionnaires at nine geosites in the area. At each site, we determined a unique importance value, which shows significant difference from site-to-site and reflects the opinions of visitors about the geosite. The M-GAM method is originally aimed at applying a common weight on each of the 27 criteria during the assessment of selected sites. While this approach is valid, we demonstrated that the method can be extended because the weights spatially vary and can be used to draw conclusions on geosite management. Practically, the evaluation of the factors obtained in this way offers an individual development plan for every site. The current state of improvement direction, the level of communication and the interpretability of the geo-objects can also be determined. In this way, we can get a more realistic development strategy for the geosites.

Improving the architectural design of public dining spaces in Cairo, via examining the users’ opinion of the physical environment and emotions states

The development of the architectural design of public buildings is a prerequisite for the development of urbanism in urban societies. Public dining spaces (PDS) have a distinctive place in contemporary shopping and entertainment spaces. Public dining spaces physical environment elements (PDPEE) requires to be studied and tested from the users' point of view, the study was conducted in 6 (PDS) in Cairo, Egypt, a structural questionnaire was distributed to visitors of (PDS), (PDPEE) was summarized in 5 elements. Based on the literature review, the quality of the questionnaire was confirmed by the Alpha Cronbach test. In order to inspect the opinion of (PDS) visitors about the priorities of (PDPEE) and its association with the emotion state (ES), behavior intentions (BI) the study utilized a two-step methodology based on I. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). II. Structural equation model (SEM), Results are analyzed based on SPSS, AMOS software, to generate the results, the study relied on the Spearman test and chi-square test, as for the results’ validation, confidence intervals, effect size was calculated for the previous tests, the results indicated that lighting and finishing materials in particular and aesthetic elements in general are the most important elements of (PDPEE). Clearly, this study illustrates that there is a close direct correlation between (PDPEE)/(ES) and (BI), the relationship between comfort emotion (CE) generated from (PDPEE) and the visitors’ age, the visit day (VD), the visit time (VT) in the morning or evening is proven, while pleasure emotion (PE) has a correlation with (VD) only

Norm Stability: Visitors’ Perceptions of Crowding at Cumberland Island National Seashore

Researchers and managers of parks and protected areas often employ normative theory or a normative approach when attempting to understand and manage visitor use and related impacts. Normative theory and associated approaches use indicators, thresholds, and evaluative dimensions to estimate visitor opinion about desired resource or experiential conditions. However, visitors’ desired conditions are often difficult to study longitudinally. Researchers used Cumberland Island National Seashore (CUIS) and its visitors to investigate the stability of crowding thresholds by comparing 2011 and 2018 visitor survey results. Daily maximum visitation levels remained constant between 2011 and 2018 as did visitors’ preferred conditions. However, the use levels that may lead to potential displacement and visitors’ acceptance of higher use both increased, suggesting visitors may expect conditions to remain the same but be increasingly tolerant of more visitors at specific attraction sites. Potential implications and further research related to normative theory and norm stability are discussed.

Text analysis como método para identificar los atributos de museos percibidos por turistas: un análisis exploratorio del Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza (España)

Objective: The identification of museum attributes is essential when analysing the different factors that attract visitors and studying it in order to improve efficiency in museums, as this could affect the use of funds for developing a marketing campaign to attract visitors. This paper offers a literature review that considers museum visits and museum attributes before proposing a methodology. Methodology: The use of big data applied to tourism research is vital, as it allows for the consideration of the opinions of museum visitors. The case study in this paper is the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid, Spain. The method for identifying the attributes consists of a textual analysis of TripAdvisor reviews written in English (2500) and Spanish (2500). The information is captured using WebHarvy and is analysed using Nvivo12. Results: After analysing the thousand words that were used most frequently, the main attributes were detected, as well as whether the perception of these attributes was positive or negative. The museum’s location and the building itself were the most highly valued attributes. Other attributes that were valued positively were the peripheral services of the museum, such as its food and beverage services. Limitations: The main limitation is that TripAdvisor is not an entirely reliable source of information, so it will be necessary to obtain more reviews to analyse.

Can a Cultural Variant Dedicated to Arab-Muslim Tourists Save the Tunisian Tourism Sector?

Unanimously recognised as a growing sector in today’s world, cultural tourism continues to attract the attention of researchers seeking to exhume the mechanisms and dynamics that govern it. In terms of political and strategic choices, Tunisia is currently giving this sector an increasingly remarkable interest. It is in this perspective that we tried to carry out a survey that would highlight the opinions of Arab-Muslim visitors about cultural tourism in Tunisia. To this end, we relied on the principal component analysis and the probit models that we considered the most appropriate to deal with our problem. Using individual data from a sample of 300 Arab-Muslim tourists who visited Tunisia during the summer vacation of 2014, we tried to interpret the results that seemed very suggestive. Our analysis of the different results led us to deduce that it is difficult for the Tunisian destination to motivate the Arab-Muslim visitors by focusing on the cultural tourism (in its current state) and that it is not the best way to attract this category of tourists. In the light of the obtained results, we have proposed some solutions that could promote this destination and fructify this type of alternative tourism.

Assessing the Environmental Policy of a Natural Protected Area Using Visitor Opinions. Case Study of Parnassos National Park, Greece

Protected Areas (PAs) represent attractive destinations for visitors that seek contact with the natural environment, biodiversity, and cultural heritages. To manage PAs holistically (i.e., maintenance, protection, and sustainable development), managers must know the socio-economic and demographic characteristics of visitors. Here, questionnaire responses were used to investigate the profile, environmental perception, knowledge, and behaviour of two categories of visitors in the Parnassos National Park (Greece): summer visitors and winter visitors. Based on the questionnaires, compared to winter respondents (WR), summer respondents (SR) had a higher level of education, environmental knowledge, and environmental awareness. Most visitors (SR and WR combined) stated that they were willing to contribute financially to the protection, conservation of biodiversity, and maintenance of infrastructure in this PA. Based on our results, managers should place focus on attracting more summer visitors when shaping the future environmental policy of this PA. Examples of potential sustainable activities for summer visitors include educational trails, hiking trails, and climbing routes that incorporate the operation of ski lifts (for scenic rides up and walks down), as well as environmental activities drawing on local culture.

Experimentos de elección para el manejo del Parque Nacional Los Mármoles, México

Introduction: the planning and management of activities in Los Mármoles National Park should include the opinions of users and visitors in order to generate sustainable economic alternatives in line with conservation objectives. Objective: to estimate the economic value of the implementation of an improvement plan (access roads, forest health, biodiversity protection and recreation spaces) for the management of Los Mármoles National Park. Materials and methods: the economic value of implementing an improvement plan was estimated through choice experiments, by means of a conditional logit Model. To this end, key actors were interviewed, participatory diagnostic workshops were held and a survey was applied to 144 tourists, who expressed the order of preferences for the attributes of the improvement plan. Results and discussion: the survey participants assigned greater willingness to pay for the forest health attribute (16.51 MXN) than to access roads and parking sites (13.74 MXN) and biodiversity protection (9.28 MXN). The attribute on improvements to recreational spaces was not statistically significant, reflecting a greater appreciation for maintaining the site’s undisturbed conditions. Conclusions: the choice experiments in the management of policies for the handling of Natural Protected Areas allowed to identify the areas of opportunity and value them economically, through the opinion of the actors involved in the activities of Los Mármoles National Park.

친환경 경기장에 대한 관람객 인식조사 : 서울ㆍ인천ㆍ경기 지역 경기장 이용자 및 주변 거주 주민을 중심으로

Purpose: Eco-friendliness and post-use of stadiums have recently become an issue when building stadiums. Therefore, when deciding on the evaluation or certification conditions of eco-friendly stadiums, it is necessary to consider human aspects such as efficiency, ease of use, and community revitalization in terms of post-use and user. In particular, eco-friendly building certification or planning items for domestic stadiums exclude the opinions of users and visitors who use the stadiums, and thus often do not reflect planning factors in terms of long-term use and stadium service. Therefore, this study checked the recognition and usage status, preferences and satisfaction of the stadiums of the visitors, the residents around the stadium, and the users of the stadium facilities. This study surveyed how much they know about eco-friendly stadiums and examined preferences and demands on eco-friendly stadium planning elements. Through this, this study intends to derive planning elements that should be considered especially for actual users when creating or remodeling eco-friendly stadiums in the future, and provide them as basic data for creating friendly human-friendly stadiums that can increase user preference and satisfaction. Method: Based on the survey responses of 320 adults over 20 years of age in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon, this study surveyed the current status of stadium use, facility satisfaction, and recognition and preference for eco-friendly stadiums. Result: The most significant factor affecting the stadium satisfaction was the grandstand. 39% of the respondents chose the grandstand as the most important facility and 23% of them chose the grandstand as the facility to be improved most. In order to increase the satisfaction of visitors and users in the planning of eco-friendly stadiums in the future, various designs, arrangements and composition plans for the grandstands and rest facilities are important. For the improvement of the environment- friendly image, it was concluded that energy saving and active architectural use of solar cells or alternative energy would help to raise awareness.

Diagnóstico de la calidad en los servicios de alimentos y bebidas en Tequisquiapan

The purpose of this research was to do a measuring of the catering services quality through the opinion of local, national and foreign visitors, in the Magic Town of Tequisquiapan, Qro., in order to determine some actions that helped improve their services and the touristic impact in the zone. The methodology used was mixed, using the quantitative method based on literature about the topic, where there were shown several analysis as in the World Economic Forum, published on the Tourism notebooks in the University of Murcia. Likewise, a qualitative analysis was done when it was applied a survey where it is asked about the quality in the catering services visited by consumers and it was also done a revision of the certifications given by the Mexican official government. After that, the results obtained let us know the high level of acceptance that the caterers have. Nevertheless, the certificates of quality are not common among the businessmen. It was considered to give the proposals that could help to the Bureau of Restaurants, the County City, the Local Ministry of Tourism and to private companies who want to know about them to continue solving and fulfill with quality in the touristic caterers.
