Scientific literature includes numerous studies of citizens' perceptions of the police. However, the question arises as to how the police are seen by members of priv ate security, who perform similar security tasks as police officers. The results of the survey, which involved 178 members of private security services, indicate that they have a high opinion of the police and its members. It is noticeable that older members of private security have a slightly better opinion of members of the police than their younger colleagues. This indicates that more work should be done with younger members of the private security, not only as part of the courses f or private security, but also later, during the service. There is certainly a need to insist more on joint trainings, both in order to increase trust and to get to know the procedures that the services are undertaking.

A study on new CI development based on Visual Identity for KISED Focusing on opinions of internal members

본 연구는 창업진흥원의 새로운 경영전략 및 비전이 반영된 새로운 CI(Corporate Identity)를 개발하는 것이다. 이를 위해 국내의 산업통상자원부와 중소벤처기업부 산하 기관과 해외의 창업지원 관련 기관의 CI를 수집하고 이를 비교하여 시각적인 표현들과 의미들의 이미지를 분석하였다. 또한, 창업진흥원의 구성원 12명의 심층인터뷰를 진행하여 기관 내부의 이해관계자들이 기관의 CI에 적용하기 원하는 표현과 의미를 도출하고 이를 직접적인 결과물에 투영할 수 있도록 하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 보다 독창적이고 차별적인 기관의 새로운 CI를 개발하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 공공기관의 새로운 CI 디자인 개발을 단계적으로 확인 할 수 있도록 서술한 것에서 의미와 가치를 찾을 수 있으며, 새롭게 개발된 CI를 다양한 미디어에 적용하여 표현하지 못한 것은 연구의 한계로 볼 수 있다. 이후 추가적인 연구를 통해 새로운 CI의 다양한 미디어 활용을 확인할 필요가 있다. 창업진흥원의 새로운 CI 디자인의 개발을 연구한 본 논문을 통해 공공기관들이 디자인을 다양한 관점으로 활용하여 발전할 수 있는 계기가 되기를 기대한다.This study is to develop a new CI (Corporate Identity) that reflects the new management strategy and vision of the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development. To this end, CI of domestic and foreign start-up support-related organizations were collected and comparatively analyzed. In addition, an in-depth interview with 12 members of the KISED was conducted so that stakeholders inside the institution could derive the expressions and meanings they want to apply to the institution s CI and project them directly into the results. The meaning and value of this study can be found in the step-by-step confirmation of the new CI design development of public institutions. Through this thesis researching the development of new CI design by the Korea Startup Promotion Agency, it is expected that public institutions will be able to develop by using design from various perspectives.

Anatomi Müfredatının “Mezuniyet Öncesi Tıp Eğitimi Ulusal Çekirdek Eğitim Programı-2014” İle Uyum Çalışması: Anatomi-ÇEP 1. Sürüm

Aim: The National Medical Core Curriculum Program has been developed since 2001 to help keep the level of education in medical schools above high standards. The education in basic medical sciences should be adapted to the latest version of the national undergraduate medical education core curriculum, published in 2020. This study, which was planned on the basis of the need for adaptation of the curriculum in basic medical sciences to the national core education program in the field of medical education, was carried out with the decision of the Board of the Turkish Society of Anatomy and Clinical Anatomy with the aim of adaptation the anatomy course contents applied in medical faculties to the National Core Curriculum for Undergraduate Medical Education - 2014.Methods: The planning of the study was based on the "systematic anatomy education approach", which is commonly used in anatomy education. The prepared report was named as Anatomi-ÇEP 1st version, and a work plan was made to keep the new versions up-to-date through this report. Workshops were held with the participation of the faculty members of the anatomy department in the creation of the adaptation lists. Consensus questionnaires participated by faculty members who teach anatomy were used in the acceptance of the adaptation lists.Results: Two workshops were held in the process. In these workshops, the relationships between anatomy subjects and "Core Diseases and Clinical Problems" in "Undergraduate Medical Education National Core Education Program- 2014" were determined. Since the "Core Diseases and Clinical Problems" list was in alphabetical order, the lists were re-created in a systematic order according to the anatomy course contents. The lists were presented to the opinions of faculty members working in the Anatomy Departments twice and a consensus decision was made. In "Anatomy-ÇEP 1st Edition", basic diseases in "UÇEP2014" have been adapted to the basic topics in anatomy education, but they have not been associated with symptoms and conditions and basic medical practices. Conclusions: With this article, it was aimed to share what was done in "Anatomy-ÇEP 1st Edition" with academicians, and to provide data for studies to be carried out to adapt the changes brought by "UÇEP-2020" to "Anatomy-ÇEP" with the feedback to be received.

Comparing the acceptability of total diet replacement and food-based low-calorie diets for type 2 diabetes remission amongst Southeast Asians: a public and patient involvement activity

Background: With type 2 diabetes prevalence rising at alarming rates, low-calorie diets (total diet replacement and food-based low-calorie diets) are increasingly used to induce weight loss and achieve diabetes remission. The effectiveness of these diets has been primarily tested in the UK white population but not in the Southeast Asian population at high risk of diabetes. Obtaining the opinion of members of the community on what would constitute a culturally acceptable diet is essential for successful interventions aiming to achieve diabetes remission in the southeast Asian population. Methods: We organised two patient and public involvement activities in the North West of England to understand views of people from the Southeast Asian population on whether low-calorie diets (850 Kcal) in the form of total diet replacement or food-based meals, are acceptable dietary interventions to achieve diabetes remission. Results: Thirteen people, with either type 2 diabetes or having someone with diabetes in the family attended a virtual or a face-to-face meeting. Low-calorie total diet replacement in the form of soups and shakes was considered unacceptable, while there was a preference for a culturally tailored low-calorie food-based diet. Ready-made portion controlled catered meals were suggested as an excellent approach to improve adherence. Conclusions: This work provided valuable insights to shape a future study looking at the feasibility to reverse diabetes in primary care through dietary intervention in the Southeast Asian population.

Ethical issues of organ donation after circulatory death: Considerations for a successful implementation in Chile.

Organ transplantation is a lifesaving procedure for end-organ damage and remains up to today as the most cost-effective alternative to treat these conditions. However, the main limitation to performing organ transplants is the availability of donor organs suitable for transplantation. To increase the donor pool, expanding organ donation from the conventional neurologic determination of death (NDD) to include circulatory determination of death (DCD) has been a well-established method of increasing donors in other countries. In this article, we discuss the clinical and ethical considerations for introducing DCD in Chile. The concepts we have used could very well be translatable to other similar countries which have not implemented this donation system yet. The most relevant issue to date is that DCD needs to alter the care of dying patients to obtain quality donor organs. In some countries, including Chile, there are some cultural barriers regarding withdrawal-of-care. These barriers include confusing withdrawal of care with acceleration of death, which leads to many practitioners refusing to remove artificial life support, and in turn only minimize ventilatory support or switch to a T-tube (without extubation). This cultural barrier could be overcome with careful consideration of the opinions of healthcare workers, family members, community and policy-based stakeholders. We also identified ethical issues related to informed consent of both donor and recipients, among other relevant ethical considerations. In conclusion, DCD donation in Chile can increase organ donation numbers in one of Latin America's countries with the lowest effective donor rate. However, this opportunity must be taken with caution to avoid the opposite effect if this policy is not well implemented, respecting the sound ethical principles mentioned in this paper.

Investigation of Factors Influencing Risk-Averse Investor’s Perception: Fixed Deposit Vs. Mutual Funds (Debt-based)

In the present scenario, investing has become a complex activity because various financial products have a gamut of facets or traits. The present study analyzes risk, liquidity, time, and tax benefit based on demographic variables of investors preferring to invest their savings in mutual funds (Debt-based) and fixed deposits. The study unveils that the safety of principals concerning the marital status and brand image and family member opinion concerning education and monthly income have significant variance. Thus, the research study helps to understand contrasting potential factors of an investor who is prominently risk-averse or risk cautious and invests their maximum savings in mutual funds (debt-based) and fixed deposits. The study will help the marketers formulate strategies for risk-averse customers and spend every penny of their savings with caution. Similarly, it will also support various government agencies to develop multiple policies targeted at increasing investor awareness.

The mediating influence of local cultures on the relationship between factors of safety risk perception and Risk-Taking behavioural intention of construction site workers

Safety risk perception and local cultures are two determinants that influence site workers' risk-taking behavioural intention during construction. The former and its influences are empirically valid, while the latter remains descriptive. How these two determinants relate to influencing site workers' risk-taking behavioural intention remains unexplored. This study examines the influence of local cultures on the relationship between safety risk perception and the risk-taking behavioural intention of site workers. Following an extensive literature review, the study identified 33 behavioural measures consisting of local cultures and safety risk perception and modified for questionnaire design using the Theory of Planned Behaviour. The study collected data from a randomised 96 site workers across multiple construction sites in Ghana. The Partial Least-Squares of Structural Equation Model was employed to analyse the data obtained from the survey. The developed structural path model confirmed the hypotheses that the personal safety attitudes of site workers have a substantial effect in influencing their risk-taking behavioural intention and that four local cultures mediate this influence, namely: beliefs in God for protection; revering attitudes towards elders; valued opinions of family members; and having faith in God to overcome safety risks. These results explain why site workers in a developing country context may engage in risk-taking behaviours during construction. The study supports the need for a culture-based intervening policy for construction safety education and training with roles for religious institutions and communal leaders.

Utilitarianism or cosmopolitanism? A study of education’s impact on individual attitudes toward foreign countries

ABSTRACT This article attempts to study two different causal mechanisms where education affects individual attitudes toward foreign countries. On the one hand, education stands for human capital and/or skill level. According to the factor endowments model, for example, well-educated people in a capital-abundant country can materially benefit from trade ties with other labor-abundant countries. On the other hand, education cultivates social trust, disseminates information, and expands breadth of social perspective, all of which can make one more pro-outsider. Hence, both explanations tend to predict that one’s educational attainment is associated with a positive opinion of outgroup members and foreigners. By cross-national comparison including both developed and developing economies, I find empirical evidence supporting the socializing not the utilitarian effect of education on outgroup attitudes, using data from the second wave of the Asian Barometer Survey. Further structural equation modeling shows that education socializes an individual to be more internationalist and cosmopolitan mainly through an expanded social perspective.

Decision making regarding management of compromised first permanent molars in patients with molar incisor hypomineralisation: A comparison of orthodontists and paediatric dentists.

To obtain the views and opinions of specialist members of the British Orthodontic Society (BOS) and British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD) in relation to (1) the multidisciplinary management of patients affected by molar incisor hypomineralisation (MIH) and (2) the diagnosis and management of MIH-affected first permanent molars (FPMs) in four clinical scenarios, and compare the responses to those of an expert panel consensus. A prospective cross-sectional study. Part 1: Eastman Dental Institute and part 2: online questionnaire. Four clinical scenarios showing patients with differing severities of MIH affected FPMs were considered by a panel of orthodontists and paediatric dentists to agree on the severity of MIH and management. A 21-item online questionnaire sent to both specialist groups, after pilot study. The questionnaire covered demographics, access to multidisciplinary clinics, clinicians' opinions on various management aspects, and questions relating to the management of the same 4 clinical scenarios. The overall response was 21.9% (20% of the orthodontists and 45% of the paediatric dentists). Approximately half of the respondents from both groups felt that these patients should be managed through a multidisciplinary treatment type clinic (49.0% of the orthodontists and 47.2% of the paediatric dentists). Only 40.3% of the orthodontists and 35.0% of the paediatric dentists agreed completely with the panel consensus on all management options. When assessing overall agreement on all four FPMs for all scenarios, agreement was predicted by severity of MIH (P<0.001) and complexity of malocclusion (P<0.001) where more complex malocclusions and more severe MIH resulted in poorer agreement, but specialty was not a significant predictor (P=0.21). The majority of the respondents from both groups, felt that managing patients with MIH affected FPMs is challenging. Approximately half of the orthodontists and the paediatric dentists, felt that MIH affected patients should be managed through a multidisciplinary type clinic. Managing more severe cases on multidisciplinary clinics is indicated, to incorporate specialist input into decision making.

The Reality of Corona Epidemic Crisis Management at King Khalid University: An analytical exploratory study of the opinions of a sample of university faculty

The main objective of this study is to understand the reality of managing the Corona epidemic crisis at King Khalid University from the teaching staff's Point of View. A descriptive-analytical approach was used, where data were collected through a questionnaire tool that was developed for this purpose. The sample of the study reached (257) members of the teaching staff at the university.and a set of statistical tools included in the statistical package, SPSS version 23, was used in the study. The study arrived at a set of results, the most important of which are: The management of the Corona pandemic crisis at King Khalid University, in general, was in the medium term, and that the dimensions of crisis management varied between the medium and high levels, as it came after planning the crisis and after leadership and decision-making during the crisis in the medium term, while it came after contact in the high range. The results also showed the emergence of statistically significant differences in the opinions of university faculty members about the reality of managing the Corona pandemic crisis according to the variables (age, nationality, experience, and job title), while those differences were absent according to the variables (gender, specialization), and the study was concluded with a group Among the recommendations based on the results, the most important of which is activating the role of the general administration for risk management at the university, and spreading the culture of risk management among university employees, as well as a comprehensive review of the strategic planning process for crisis management.

Committee-Voting mechanism based on Graph for Semisupervised Person Re-identification

Recently, person re-identification technology has made great progress, mainly thanks to a large amount of annotated data. However, the current million-dollar annotations are becoming increasingly difficult to scale. Therefore, we work on the problem of semi-supervised person re-identification using only a small amount of annotated data. Inspired by QBC, we propose the committee-voting mechanism based on graph (CVG), which consists of two modules, the committee, and the chairman. The committee proposes different opinions and constructs multiple sets of information pairs for unlabelled data, and the chairman is responsible for aggregating the opinions of all committee members and making the final decision. As a sound selection mechanism, which effectively improves the accuracy of semisupervised person re-identification. Extensive experiments on three large-scale datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Creation, evolution, and dissolution of social groups

Understanding why people join, stay, or leave social groups is a central question in the social sciences, including computational social systems, while modeling these processes is a challenge in complex networks. Yet, the current empirical studies rarely focus on group dynamics for lack of data relating opinions to group membership. In the NetSense data, we find hundreds of face-to-face groups whose members make thousands of changes of memberships and opinions. We also observe two trends: opinion homogeneity grows over time, and individuals holding unpopular opinions frequently change groups. These observations and data provide us with the basis on which we model the underlying dynamics of human behavior. We formally define the utility that members gain from ingroup interactions as a function of the levels of homophily of opinions of group members with opinions of a given individual in this group. We demonstrate that so-defined utility applied to our empirical data increases after each observed change. We then introduce an analytical model and show that it accurately recreates the trends observed in the NetSense data.

Start of the Road: Views on Interprofessional Education among Faculty of a Medical School in Turkey

Aim: Interprofessional Education (IPE) has been emphasized as an important pedagogical strategy for improving collaboration and the quality of care. Before implementing this strategy to curriculum with a program it is important to determine the views of the instructors about the program, for its initiation, sustainability and success. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the opinions of faculty members in the Süleyman Demirel University School of Medicine (SDUSM) about IPE.Methods: This descriptive study used qualitative data obtained with the semi-structure interview method. Out of 185 faculty members, 38 of them attended an informative meeting about IPE. The sample group was established by random selection who volunteered to participate, interviews continued t ill the data saturation is observed (n=14). The recordings of the interview were transcribed and content analyses of the qualitative data were carried out by four experts. MAXQDA software (version 12) was used in content analysis for thematic coding and determining frequency distributions.2 Results: The faculty members discussed the feasibility of IPE programs, models of the educational program, the positive aspects and barriers of implementing IPE and its potential contribution to the medical profession. Faculty members mentioned several barriers related to the implementation of IPE. Also, they stated that the IPE approach would facilitate adaptation to professional life and possibly help produce well-equipped and self-confident doctors with strong communication, empathy, and team working skills.Conclusions: In line with these opinions, IPE can be considered as an educational method that can be implemented in SDUSM.

The Necessity to Review Oral Pathology Curriculum: A need of time

Aim: To assess the necessity to review the Oral pathology curriculum, based on the expert opinion of faculty members of oral pathology of Karachi. Methods: In this cross-sectional study the data was collected by non-probability sampling technique from different colleges of Karachi. Distribution of the online questionnaire regarding curriculum of oral pathology was made through Google online forms. Questionnaire was only filled by oral pathology specialists/ experts/faculty of dental colleges of different cities after taking their verbal consent. Inclusion criteria was Oral pathology faculty members from all Pakistan Medical Council affiliated colleges having undergraduate BDS program. Results: Males were 22(66.7%). Among the respondents, 40.62% were Assistant Professor, followed by Demonstrator 31.25% and Associate professor 28.12%. Among participants, approximately 13(39.4%) agreed that the PMC syllabus is non-specific. Topic selection is difficult for 12(36.4%) participants. About 21(63.6%) thought that an extensive Oral Pathology syllabus is needed. Reviews for the inclusion of general pathology topics scored 14(42.4%) disagreement. About 11(33.3%) reported having missing Oral Pathology topics in the curriculum. Majority 18(54.5%) agreed to revise the curriculum. Conclusion: It has been concluded that faculty members of oral pathology recommend a high necessity to review the Oral pathology curriculum in Pakistan. By gathering modifications within the existing program of curriculum, it can be made more intriguing and systematized for students. Keywords: Oral pathology, curriculum, cross-sectional, study

Research on the Decision Mechanism of University-Enterprise Collaborative Innovation Based on Quantum Cognition

The relationship between quantum cognition and decision-making is an important field in the direction of human behavior research. The uncertain and entangled state of quantum cognition has largely explained the decision-making process with limited information and ambiguity. University-enterprise collaborative innovation, a systematic project of joint action by both parties, aims to integrate the resources of enterprises and universities and enhance their innovation capabilities. As the main decision-making parties in collaborative innovation decision-making, the university and enterprise have a state of uncertainty and entanglement in their cognitive preferences before the final decision is formed. A university-enterprise collaborative innovation decision-making model should be constructed from the perspective of enterprise decision-making, taking different innovation schemes as the final choice, and the method of quantum probability theory can be used to perform quantum cognition on the independent and joint decision-making models in the university-enterprise collaborative innovation decision-making. Research shows that the internal mechanism of university-enterprise collaborative decision-making is based on its quantum attributes, university-enterprise collaborative decision-making is more inclined to joint decision-making, joint university-enterprise collaborative decision-making is more inclined to quantum cognition incompatibility expression, and the opinions of innovative members will have sequential effects and interference effects on decision makers.

Delphi methodology in healthcare research: How to decide its appropriateness.

The Delphi technique is a systematic process of forecasting using the collective opinion of panel members. The structured method of developing consensus among panel members using Delphi methodology has gained acceptance in diverse fields of medicine. The Delphi methods assumed a pivotal role in the last few decades to develop best practice guidance using collective intelligence where research is limited, ethically/logistically difficult or evidence is conflicting. However, the attempts to assess the quality standard of Delphi studies have reported significant variance, and details of the process followed are usually unclear. We recommend systematic quality tools for evaluation of Delphi methodology; identification of problem area of research, selection of panel, anonymity of panelists, controlled feedback, iterative Delphi rounds, consensus criteria, analysis of consensus, closing criteria, and stability of the results. Based on these nine qualitative evaluation points, we assessed the quality of Delphi studies in the medical field related to coronavirus disease 2019. There was inconsistency in reporting vital elements of Delphi methods such as identification of panel members, defining consensus, closing criteria for rounds, and presenting the results. We propose our evaluation points for researchers, medical journal editorial boards, and reviewers to evaluate the quality of the Delphi methods in healthcare research.

Gender Differences in Medical Specialty Decision Making: The Importance of Mentorship

IntroductionWhile there have been many studies reviewing factors considered by medical students in deciding on a specialty, there is a relative paucity of data in how these factors differ between males and females. The aim of this study was to determine if there are differences in how male and female medical students’ value various factors in choosing a career path in medicine. MethodsA survey of basic demographic information and a Likert-based questionnaire addressing various factors in specialty choice was sent to all military medical students in the class of 2019. ResultsThe survey response rate was 30%. Amongst the students that completed the survey, 72% were male and 28% were female. The majority of students were less than 27 years old (52%) and Caucasian (76%). Female medical students placed more importance in exposure to third year clerkships (P = 0.004) and gender diversity within the specialty (P = 0.03) than their male counterparts. There was no statistical difference in opinions of significant others or family members, desire to have a family, or having a well-balanced life between female, and male medical students. ConclusionFemale medical students valued exposure to third year clerkships and gender diversity more than their male colleagues when choosing a future specialty. These findings suggest that a strategic focus should be placed on mentoring female medical students in order to promote a diverse medical workforce.

The Exploratory and Confirmatory factor analysis was used in dealing with the subject. The study concluded a three-dimensional model: strategy formulation, strategy implementation, and strategy evaluation. The study recommended the adoption of the model to management of the strategy of other university colleges.

Antibiotic Self-Medication and Risk Factors among Medical Students in an Iranian University: a Cross Sectional Study

Background: Self-medication with antibiotic is a widely prevalent practice all over the world especially among medical students. This study was aimed to evaluate the prevalence and the pattern of self-medication among medical students in Tehran, Iran. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire-based study was conducted among the undergraduate medical students from a referral university in Tehran, Iran. All data obtained were analyzed using the statistical package for social sciences program (SPSS) version 20. Results: A total of 201 students were enrolled in the current study. According to the analysis, 129 (64.1%) of the study population reported that they have self-medicated with antibiotics at least once in their student life. The principal morbidities for seeking self-medication include cough and common cold (23.4%) followed by fever (14.9%). The most frequent antibiotics used to self-medicate the mentioned morbidities were: amoxicillin (62%), co-amoxiclav (19.4%), penicillin (17%), cefixime (16%), azithromycin (14%) and tetracycline (9%). The majority of the participants stated cost saving, convenience and lack of confidence as their reasons for self-medication. The drug selection was mostly based on opinion of family members (31.8%), their own experience (27.4%) and the least commonly reported was selection based on recommendation by net citizens (0.5%). Conclusion: Our study indicates that self-medication is widely practiced among students of the college. In this situation, the health care system should create as effective awareness and educate their students regarding advantages and disadvantages of self-medication.
