Performance of Family Health Strategy Nurses in LGBT+ Healthcare.

To analyze the role of Family Health Strategy (FHS) nurses in the health care of LGBT+ individuals. This qualitative study is based on Institutional Analysis. Data was collected in August 2021 through semi-structured interviews with 14 Family Health Strategy nurses from municipalities in the state of São Paulo. The data was processed using the IRaMuTeQ® software and analyzed lexically. The textual corpus gave rise to three themes, which addressed the nurses' practice, the difficulties and challenges they face in providing care to LGBT+ individuals, and the direct association of LGBT+ individuals with sexually transmitted infections. Lack of preparedness, access to information, and the need for expanded listening skills are still gaps in the performance of FHS nurses in caring for LGBT+ individuals. However, fostering acceptance and building strong relationships have been effective strategies in bridging the gap in nursing care for the LGBT+ community.

RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar a atuação de enfermeiras da Estratégia Saúde da Família na atenção à saúde de pessoas LGBT+. Métodos: Estudo qualitativo baseado na Análise Institucional. Os dados foram coletados em agosto de 2021 por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas realizadas com 14 enfermeiras da Estratégia Saúde da Família em municípios do Estado de São Paulo. Foram processados pelo software IRaMuTeQ® e analisados lexicalmente. Resultados: O corpus textual gerou três temas, que abordam a prática das enfermeiras, as dificuldades e desafios enfrentados por elas no atendimento às pessoas LGBT+ e a associação direta de pessoas LGBT+ às infecções sexualmente transmissíveis. Considerações finais: O despreparo, o acesso à informação e o desenvolvimento de uma escuta ampliada ainda são lacunas na atuação de enfermeiras da Estratégia Saúde da Família no cuidado com pessoas LGBT+, mas o acolhimento e a criação de vínculos têm sido estratégias adotadas para aproximar a assistência de enfermagem das pessoas LGBT+.

Nurses’ perceptions of counseling and rapid testing for sexually transmitted infections

Objective: to understand Family Health Strategy nurses’ perceptions on counseling and rapid testing for sexually transmitted infections. Methods: this is a qualitative study, with data triangulation. Data collection was conducted through a semi-structured interview with seven nurses from Family Health Strategy. For systematization and data processing, content analysis was adopted in the thematic modality. Results: after analysis, four categories emerged: Rapid test training; Counseling conduction; Ease in rapid testing offer; and Challenges offering rapid testing. Conclusion: nurses’ perceptions were related to difficulties in the face of pre and posttest counseling, requiring improvement, permanent education and training for professional preparation, and the logistics of inputs and materials, in addition to changes in the physical structure of the units.

Occupational damage to nurses in Primary Health Care

Objective: analyze the prevalence and types of occupational injuries among nurses working in the Family Health Strategy. Methods: cross-sectional study with 116 Family Health Strategy nurses. The Work-Related Damage Assessment Scale was used. For the analysis, Pearson’s chi-square test was performed, with a significance level of 0.05. Results: the prevalence of physical damage of 70.7% was associated with the risk of critical illness, the most serious symptoms of which were: sleep or appetite alterations, circulatory disorders, body aches (head, arm, back, legs). Social damage (21.6%) and psychological damage (11.2%) were classified as bearable risk. Conclusion: showed high prevalence of illness manifested by physical damage classified as critical risk: arm pain, changes in appetite and circulatory disorders and, classified as serious risk: headaches, leg pain, sleep changes, back and body pain.

Mapping of advanced practice nursing actions in the Family Health Strategy.

to map advanced practice nursing actions implemented in the Family Health Strategy context. cross-sectional exploratory study carried out with Family Health Strategy nurses. Data obtained in the mapping were compared to the characteristics that define advanced practice nurses and are adopted internationally by using a checklist based on the International Council of Nurses Guidelines. the mapping allowed to identify advanced practice nursing actions, such as advanced assessment, judgement, decision-making, and diagnostic reasoning skills and authority to diagnose and prescribe medications, diagnostic testing, and therapeutic treatments. However, evidence found in the educational preparation domain indicated evident fragility, expressed as the low percentage of nurses credentialed with a professional master's degree. the present study showed that nurses in the Family Health Strategy carry out advanced practice nursing actions without the professional master's degree recommended for credentialing, with pertinent legislation, which requires initiatives to be taken by nursing leaders to overcome this deficiency.

Problemas éticos vivenciados por enfermeiros na Estratégia Saúde da Família

Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar problemas éticos vivenciados por enfermeiros na Estratégia Saúde da Família por meio de revisão integrativa realizada entre março e abril de 2018 em quatro bases de dados. Foram utilizados os seguintes descritores, combinados entre si: “ética”, “bioética”, “enfermagem” e “Estratégia Saúde da Família”. Após aplicados os critérios de inclusão e exclusão, restaram oito textos, de cuja análise emergiram quatro categorias: problemas éticos na relação com usuário; na relação com a equipe; na relação com a organização do serviço de saúde; e estratégias adotadas por enfermeiros no enfrentamento desses problemas. Conclui-se que é necessário implementar processos educativos emancipatórios que possibilitem aos profissionais da saúde construir saberes e desenvolver competências para identificar questões éticas e conduzir soluções.

Essential management competencies of nurses: actions and interactions in the context of the Family Health Strategy.

to understand the meanings attributed by the Family Health Strategy (FHS) nurses to the management competencies essential to the performance of their actions. explanatory, qualitative study, whose methodological framework was based on Grounded Theory. A total of 12 Family Health Strategy nurses from a municipality in southern Brazil participated through semi-structured interviews, between December 2018 and February 2019. the experience was understood by the phenomenon "Lapidating management competencies daily to play the role of a nurse in the context of the Family Health Strategy". As action/interaction strategies, the following categories emerged: "Evidencing the management skills of Family Health Strategy nurses" and "Recognizing the need for strategies to work on specificities in the context of the Family Health Strategy". according to the meanings attributed by nurses, there are several essential management skills for the work in the Family Health Strategy, but they are still little worked and developed in this context, mainly because it is a complex health care scenario.

Knowledge and health promotion practice of Family Health Strategy nurses.

to analyze the knowledge and health promotion practice carried out by Family Health Strategy nurses. a descriptive study and qualitative approach. The study was conducted with 18 Family Health Strategy nurses from the city of São Carlos. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed through thematic analysis. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee. the data revealed that nurses had difficulties to conceptualize health promotion, and it is common to describe the definition of disease prevention. Nurses also reported developing group activities for health promotion; however, individual actions and consultations were still predominant. Final Considerations: it is necessary to develop sustainable strategies for collective health-promoting activities, in addition to strengthening multidisciplinary work and Continuing Education actions.

Nurses' practice in quilombola communities: an interface between cultural and political competence.

to understand Family Health Strategy nurses' practices in the context of quilombola communities with an interface for cultural and political competences. a single integrated, qualitative case study carried out on seven Family Health Strategies located in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, state of Minas Gerais. Seven nurses and 59 quilombolas participated. Data were collected through individual interviews with nurses, collective interviews with quilombolas and observation. For analysis, the thematic content analysis was adopted. the results revealed structural and territorial problems, which are configured as barriers for professional-user encounter as well as for professional practice performance. Final Considerations: it is necessary that Family Health Strategy nurses, based on political and cultural competences, create strategies that minimize the difficulties found in the implementation of health actions directed to quilombolas. Such strategies anchored in inclusive public policies.

Perception of nursing in Primary Health Care about patients with hypertension: does King explain?

to understand nurses' perceptions about Imogene King's concepts on CMIOS and its association with caring for patients with hypertension in Primary Health Care. a qualitative interventionist research with Family Health Strategy nurses who care for patients with hypertension at Primary Health Care in Maracanaú-CE. A focus group was held with seven nurses, in two audio-recorded and transcribed meetings, to analyze the production of meanings based on discursive practices. the categories personal system, interpersonal system, and social system emerged referring to the potentialities and difficulties found both for understanding concepts, but also in the interaction with oneself, with hypertensive patients and health organization, with a view to adequate care for hypertensive patients. it was verified the understanding of nurses' knowledge in relation to King's concepts, associating its application in the context of care for patients with hypertension.

Leadership in the perspective of Family Health Strategy nurses.

To understand the perception of leadership in the work process and to promote its discussion within the Family Health Strategy scope. A qualitative approach research, guided by the action-research referential, conducted with 15 Familiy Health Strategy nurses in the inland of the state of São Paulo. Data was collected in 2015 in two interdependent phases, interviews and intervention-action, and processed according to the methodological framework of content analysis and the theoretical framework on nursing management. The nurses showed their conceptions of leadership and the inherent challenges of practice: leadership training, overlapping care and management, and management charges. In the discussion of common problems and peer learning, a conception of transformational leadership was constructed. The common and behavioral styles of leadership influenced on the conception of leadership and mobilized the attitudes of the nurses in the work process; however, there is a need for more engagement in the training/qualification of the professionals and the services about leadership.

The daily routine of nurses in rural areas in the Family Health Strategy

to analyze the daily work of rural Family Health Strategy (FHS) nurses. a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research. The data were collected with eleven rural nurses of the city of Campina Grande, Paraíba State, through semi-structured interviews, between January and March of 2017, using Content Analysis. rural nurses have a strong relationship with the population. However, they reveal a daily work with various organizational barriers that range from the team displacement to the workplace to the operationalization of health actions, which are mediated by the characteristics of rurality. Some of these barriers can be remedied by a more proactive action from the management. conditioned by the characteristics of rurality, the differentiated dynamics work reveal weaknesses in the quality of nursing care and lower effectiveness of the FHS.

A percepção dos enfermeiros da estratégia de saúde da famí­lia do território de Manguinhos sobre a sexualidade infantil e a implicação para o cuidado í saúde da criança

A pesquisa objetivou analisar percepção dos enfermeiros da Estratégia Saúde da Famí­lia do Território de Manguinhos sobre a sexualidade infantil e a implicação desta percepção para o cuidado í saúde da criança. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, exploratório e de natureza qualitativa. Realizado no Centro de Saúde Escola Germano Sinval Faria e Clí­nica da Famí­lia Victor Valla no Complexo de Manguinhos, no Municí­pio do Rio de Janeiro, onde está localizado e é campo de ensino e pesquisa para ENSP/FIOCRUZ, com 8 enfermeiros entrevistados atuantes na Estratégia Saúde da Famí­lia. Utilizou-se o método de interpretação de sentidos, baseando-se em princí­pios hermenêutico-dialéticos. Os depoimentos evidenciam que o despreparo do profissional sobre o assunto e a implicação desta percepção para o cuidado í saúde da criança, leva a um cuidado incompleto. Neste sentido, refletimos sobre a importância da atuação do enfermeiro como profissional de saúde nas consultas, onde pode colaborar de maneira positiva com a educação de pais e crianças a respeito da sexualidade.

Expansion of the interprofessional clinical practice of Primary Care nurses.

To analyze the clinical practice of nurses in the interprofessional context of the Family Health Strategy. Case study in a basic health unit of the city of São Paulo with a professional team of the Family Health Strategy and of the Family Health Support Center. Direct observation and interviews with thematic analysis and triangulation were conducted. Four empirical categories were identified: interprofessional actions guided by the logic of the user's health needs; interprofessional actions guided by the logic of expediting service; interprofessional actions with a biomedical approach and interprofessional actions with an integral/holistic approach. Six interprofessional actions that indicated the expansion of the clinical practice of the Family Health Strategy's nurses were also identified. The results express the world trend of interprofessional practice and expansion of the scope of practice of different professions, particularly that of nurses, which requires consolidation based on the population's health needs.

Sexuality in old age: knowledge/attitude of nurses of Family Health Strategy.

To evaluate the knowledge and attitudes of Family Health Strategy nurses regarding sexuality in old age. Cross-sectional, exploratory, descriptive, quantitative study with nurses of the Family Health Strategy of the city of Sobral-CE. The instruments used were a socio-demographic and professional questionnaire and the Aging Sexual Knowledge and Attitudes Scale, Brazilian version. Data were processed in GraphPad Prism 5®, and the significance level was set at p<0.05. The participants were 56 nurses, most of them female, young adults, who reported they were able to provide orientations about sexuality. The mean score in the knowledge dimension was 29.95 (SD=2.21), in a range of 20 to 60; the mean score in the attitude dimension was 27.14 (SD=2.19), in a range of eight to 40. Participants who declared receiving permanent health education and conducting health education on sexuality presented a significantly favorable knowledge, but no statistically significant attitude. Nurses have adequate knowledge about sexuality in old age, but still present conservative attitudes. Investing in processes of continuing health education can improve the knowledge and practice of nurses.

Competencies for educational actions of Family Health Strategy nurses

To create competencies for the educational actions of nurses in the care and management work processes at the Family Health Strategy. This is an exploratory, descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, on nurses of the Family Health Strategy (FHS) from a municipality in the Greater São Paulo. It was performed through semi-structured interviews and workshops. There is a set of specific competencies for the educational actions of the nurse in care work, geared towards meeting the health needs of users/community; and for educational actions in management work, focused on work organization of the health team, indicating the importance of this work to FHS. Final considerations: Creating competencies proved to be significant to reflect on the educational actions of the FHS nurses and can be used as a strategy in permanent education processes.

Relational technologies as instruments of care in the Family Health Strategy.

This article aims to identify the relational technologies used by Family Health Strategy nurses in their daily work when treating patients. Descriptive and cross-sectional study with qualitative approach; conducted between May and July 2015, in three Basic Health Units of the Southern Region of the Municipality of São Paulo, with 19 nurses of the Family Health Strategy. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview, and the speeches were fully transcribed and analyzed according to the technique of content analysis. From the speeches of the participants, three categories emerged, showing the unawareness of the concept, but the valorization of its use; which are the relational technologies used by the participating nurses (communication, listening, empathy and welcoming reception), as well as the report of barriers to the use of relational technologies. Although the nurses value the use of relational technologies, the participants denoted unawareness of the nomenclature and its associated concepts, suggesting superficiality in the understanding and use of these instruments in the context of care in the Family Health Strategy. Identificar as tecnologias relacionais utilizadas por enfermeiros de Estratégia Saúde da Família em seu cotidiano de trabalho no atendimento aos usuários. Estudo descritivo, transversal, com abordagem qualitativa; desenvolvido entre maio e julho de 2015, em três Unidades Básicas de Saúde da Região Sul do Município de São Paulo, com 19 enfermeiros da Estratégia Saúde da Família. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevista semiestruturada, e os discursos foram transcritos na íntegra, analisados segundo a técnica de análise de conteúdo. Das falas dos participantes, surgiram três categorias, que evidenciam o desconhecimento do conceito, mas valorização do uso; quais são as tecnologias relacionais utilizadas pelos enfermeiros participantes (comunicação, escuta, empatia e acolhimento), além do relato de barreiras para a utilização de tecnologias relacionais. Embora valorizem a utilização de tecnologias relacionais, os participantes denotaram desconhecer a nomenclatura e os conceitos associados, sugerindo superficialidade na compreensão e utilização dessas ferramentas no contexto de atendimento na Estratégia Saúde da Família.

Mapping the implementation of the rapid HIV test in the Family Health Strategy: the nurses' perspective

Abstract Objective: To analyze the implementation of the rapid HIV test in the Family Health Strategy (FHS) from the perspective of nurses. Method: A qualitative study was performed with 13 FHS nurses between March and June 2015 using a semi-structured interview. The data were analyzed by symbolic cartography and Bardin's thematic analysis. Results: The nurses projected to the center of the map: lack of test kits, insufficient time for training, speed of the test result and excessive activities. In the periphery, they placed aspects related to the physical space, the lack of participation of other professionals in the training, the ease of performing the test and breaking the news of positive HIV diagnoses. Conclusion and implications for practice: An adequate supply of test kits, tests more widely available to the entire population and training of other members of the FHS team are required. This study supports improvements in the nursing practice of rapid HIV testing.

Work of family health strategy nurses in oncology care

Abstract Objective: To identify the qualification of and to know the work of Family Health Strategy nurses in oncology care. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive study, using a quantitative approach, was conducted with 77 nurses working in the Family Health Strategy units of Campo Grande, state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Primary data were collected in structured interviews, using a form with closed-ended questions. Results: Professional training in oncology care is less frequent, reflecting a high lack of knowledge regarding the National Policy on Oncology Care. It was evidenced that 95% of the professionals assisted oncology patients, with home visits and nursing appointments being the most prevalent methods. Regarding the National Policy on Oncology Care, 96% of the nurses declared that they did not know about it. Conclusion: There was evidence of weakness in the care provided by the nurses to oncology patients and the need for investment in continuing education for professional nurses regarding oncology care.

The exercise of leadership of nurses in the family health strategy

Objetivou-se conhecer o exercício da liderança do enfermeiro na Estratégia Saúde da Família, bem como as dificuldades e estratégias adotadas pelos enfermeiros para liderar. Estudo qualitativo, descritivo e exploratório realizado com 12 enfermeiros da Estratégia de Saúde da Família de Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul. As informações foram obtidas por meio de entrevista semi-estruturada, as quais foram analisadas por meio da Análise Temática. Evidenciou-se que o enfermeiro, enquanto líder é visto como um exemplo a ser seguido, responsável por contribuir com a motivação da equipe. Entre as dificuldades encontradas destacaram-se a falta de apoio pela gestão municipal, falta de perfil profissional, relações interpessoais conflitantes, sobrecarga e necessidade de um ambiente profissional saudável. Entre as estratégias foi exposto o trabalho em equipe, diálogo e escuta respeito interprofissional, as quais contribuem para fortalecer a liderança do enfermeiro neste modelo assistencial.
