発色点数法によるEC試験

EC Test was conducted on Cu-Ni-Cr platings of various thicknesses, and the number of color spots (caused by corrosion) developed on the surface of each specimen was measured as far as possible. The relation between the number of developed color spots in EC Test and R.N. (Rating Number) was obtained on the assumption that CASS Test for 16hrs. is equivalent to EC Test for 2min. for the same specimen. Then, it was proved that the conventional two spot color developing method means 8.0 of R.N..Furthermore, the values obtained by the above method were compared with those obtained by the weathering tests commonly conducted in Nagoya District. As the results, it was found that R.N. determined by EC Test will give proper values which are acceptable.

Quantification of Expert Judgment in Maintenance Design Decisions

Generalized findings, based on work carried out in the development of the Index of Electronic Maintainability for the U. S. Army Signal Corps, are reported on the quantification of expert judgment in the area of maintenance and maintainability. Results of this study indicated that judgments of maintenance consequences can be reliably obtained from field-maintenance personnel if proper precautions are observed in the development and utilization of the rating instruments. Further, these results revealed considerable consistency of ratings across various types of equipment, thus implying that this generality may be extended to new equipments. This generality also eases the problem of obtaining adequate numbers of raters, since the type of experience that the rater bases his judgments on does not appear to be highly specific. No evidence was presented concerning the amount or degree of experience required for competent raters. Finally, three suggested applications of the techniques described are presented, and some of the benefits to be derived from these applications are briefly discussed.

A symptom rating scale for use with psychotic patients.

Currently the recognition of psychotic illness and the recognition of improvement or recovery from such illness depend prmarily upon ascertaining the presence or absence of psychotic signs and symptoms. When we began a project (Veterans Administration Psychiatric Evaluation Project) involving evaluation of the effectiveness of the treatment of psychotic patients in 12 Veterans Adminstration neuropsychiatrie hospitals, we felt the need for techniques which would make it possible to describe the symptoms of patients in some standard form, to describe change quantitatively, and to make possible prognostic groupings of patients on the basis of their symptoms. Nothing worthy of respect can be accomplished in such a venture without scales or other devices with which different raters can secure a satisfactory level of agreement or reliability. For these purposes a psychotic symptom, no matter how interesting, is of no use as an indicator unless a number of raters can reach reasonable agreement on its absence or its presence and/or degree.
