AbstractThe present study describes the reuse of mineral-cement emulsion (MCE) mixtures from old and damaged pavements. Different recycling and compaction methods are presented and evaluated using strength tests to find the optimal composition. Marshall, gyratory, and static compaction methods were used and the results were analyzed. The methodology included measurements of Marshall stability and flow, compressive strength, frost resistance, and air void content. Analysis of the results showed a strong correlation between the compaction method used and the final result. The data show that a comparison of compaction methods is possible only when the methods are modified appropriately and the corresponding adjustments of MCE mixtures were proposed. The modifications included variations in compaction conditions. The optimal number of gyrations and the minimal height of the specimen were determined as a recommendation for future comparison with the Marshall method.
