In this study, copper and phosphorus co-doped three-dimensional layered hexagonal cobalt nanodiscs were synthesized using a rapid and simple method and were applied for the detection of nitrobenzene, an environmental pollutant. The incorporation of phosphorus into the nanodiscs created catalytic sites, while the addition of copper increased the density of active sites and facilitated rapid charge transfer. Co-doping phosphorus and copper allowed the CuCo NDs/P composite material to exhibit excellent catalytic activity towards nitrobenzene. Experimental results demonstrated that CuCo NDs/P had a lower detection limit and a broader linear range. Additionally, the sensor was tested on natural water samples to evaluate its practical feasibility, indicating significant potential for further development.
