Research on the Application of Three-Line Spiritual Resources in Striving Spirit Education from the Perspective of Educational Narrative

Educational narrative method is a lively and interesting teaching method. The use of educational narrative method can put students in the center of the class, guide students to form positive thinking and emotions in the way of narrative description, and achieve the teaching objectives of the course. The third-line construction is a great strategy in the process of China's industrial construction from the 1960s to the 1980s, and the Third-line spiritual resources are the organic whole of all the material and spiritual products produced in the Third-line construction, including rich historical story materials, and are effective educational narrative resources. Based on the educational narrative perspective, the use of Third-line spiritual resources in the school struggle spirit education can promote the rich development of classroom teaching and help moral education to cultivate people.

Analysis of the Potential and Performance of the Tourism Sector towards the Community (Study on Pasir Kencana Beach Tourism Area in Pekalongan City)

Purpose: Tourism has become a major growth engine in Indonesia and has helped the local economy and government. One of Indonesia's emerging economic sectors is tourism. Pekalongan is one of the most central cities in Java and has many natural and man-made tourist spots. To increase the attractiveness and sustain tourism, Pasir Kencana tourism in Pekalongan city should be properly managed. The objective of this investigation is to determine the extent to which community-based tourism (CBT) is being used, how it is implemented, and what obstacles are encountered in implementing CBT in tourism. Method: Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the use of the descriptive narrative method. Result: These results show that although the community has participated in tourism management, it has not reached the desired level. Pasir Kencana Beach is a good example of community-based tourism, evidenced by the activities of a good tourism outreach group (Pokdarwis). Constraints of community-based tourism management development strategies include promoting tourism, adding qualified human resources based on the field of education, using information technology to introduce and promote tourism to a wider audience; it is also possible to attract investors to help improve tourism-related infrastructure and develop tourism destinations by making the best use of available space and leveraging local uniqueness and culture to generate more revenue from visitors. Contribution: This research contributes to developing scientific concepts about community participation in developing tourist destinations.

State Capacity and Industrial Development: A Comparative Study of Iran and Egypt (1990–2010)

Despite pursuing industrial development to solve various socioeconomic and sociopolitical issues, such as the urgent need to reconstruct war damages in Iran, the foreign debt crisis in Egypt, and population growth in both countries, statistical data show only slight progress. The graphs of the gross domestic product (GDP) growth and exports of goods and services as a percentage of GDP, which are reliable indexes for measuring industrial output, along with the rate of foreign direct investment, demonstrate numerous fluctuations and instability in the economic growth rate for both cases under the period under review. Failing to diversify the economy, Iran and Egypt still relied heavily on unproductive rents, mostly from hydrocarbon exports, at the end of this era. Why is this the case despite the national leadership putting industrial development on the agenda? This article addresses this question by examining state capacity, focusing on the internal cohesion of state authority and its relation to society. In so doing, comparative historical analysis and causal narrative method are used.

Employee Motivation in Contemporary Academic Literature: A Narrative Literature Review

Abstract Background Using the correct type of motivation is pivotal in triggering employees’ affirmative work attitudes, such as work performance, job satisfaction, or voluntary retention, ultimately leading to increasing the organization’s overall efficiency. Despite the ongoing academic debate, academics provide practitioners with mixed results on which motivation factors are relevant for targeted employee groups whose needs are under the economic and socio-psychological pressure of the rapidly evolving environment. Elton Mayo was the first to acknowledge these socio-psychological factors as significant motivation drivers almost a century ago. Methods Therefore, the purpose of this paper, using the narrative literature review method (supported by a systematic search strategy) on 83 articles, is to evaluate the research findings on employees’ motivation (related to their affirmative work attitudes) and to unfold the motivation theory’s advancement. Results Key motivation drivers were identified and unified into five motivation sets applicable to different employee groups. The findings also suggest that most academic works, theoretically grounded in classical motivational concepts, are quantitative analysis-based. Conclusion To increase the efficiency of employees’ performance, internal motivation or internalization of external motivation seems to be the best solution. Employees’ “floating” needs call for practitioners to be trained in techniques from psychology.

A transformative approach to developing global human resources: An interdisciplinary framework for promoting personalised learning in Japanese universities

Japanese government internationalisation initiatives in recent years have aimed to create undergraduate courses that nurture “global human resources”. These initiatives involve objectives associated with developing skills, attitudes, and knowledge related to foreign language skills and intercultural understanding. However, educators at Japanese universities responsible for their development and implementation often lack adequate guidance to achieve such objectives. To address this gap, the author employed an interdisciplinary approach to establish a framework for cultivating global human resources, by means of a qualitative inquiry involving visual and narrative methods carried out over a one-semester period. The study's results emphasise the transformative and personal relationships that learners establish when engaging in the development of global human resources, a perspective that is mostly absent in the intercultural competence literature. Moreover, this study underlines the importance of producing and implementing interdisciplinary educational solutions that encourage university students to become personally invested in developing global human resources, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field.

간호학 교육에서 영화를 활용한 질병 체험 내러티브 교수법의 적용 효과

This study is a non-equivalent control group, pre-post, time-lag design study to confirm the effect of applying the disease experience narrative teaching method using movies to nursing students. The illness narrative teaching method program consisted of partially providing the <Wit> movie and writing and presenting a patient experience worksheet. 63 people in the experimental group and 59 people in the control group participated. Data analysis was performed using ²-test, t-test, ANCOVA, and paired t-test using SPSS 24.0. As a result of this study, the experimental group's empathy (F=108.202 p=.<.001), caring efficacy (F=104.756 p=.<.001), and attitude toward end-of-life care (t=-2.104, p=.002) were higher than those of the control group. It was confirmed that there was statistically significant improvement. In future research, it is suggested to confirm the effects on patient-centered attitude, communication, and ethical decision-making through disease experience narrative teaching methods using not only movies but also actual patient experience interviews and documentaries. In addition, we propose a study that compares the effects of empathy and caring efficacy after nursing students indirectly experience the patient's perspective by participating in the patient's treatment process during the clinical training period.

치유공간 이웃의 세월호 유가족 돌봄 시민활동가의 간접외상 경험에 대한 자전적 내러티브 연구

This study attempted to explore the experiences that I had to go through while caring for the bereaved families of the Ferry Sewol disaster as a citizen activist, the impact of indirect trauma on life, and what the meaning of those experiences has been reconstructed. To this end, research was conducted with a narrative inquiry method. As a researcher and research participant, I did this study by looking back on my experiences by referring to a record journal, diary, and contribution containing the process of caring for the bereaved families in Ferry Sewol. As a result, based on the experiences I had while caring for the bereaved families of the Ferry Sewol disaster as a citizen activist, the indirect trauma, and the results of the analysis and interpretation obtained by looking back on the experiences, three themes were derived: “In the middle of despair”, “The boundary between blurred life and death”, and “Me who met again through death”. In the discussion, discussions on the main results of this study and suggestions for further research were presented.

학생 행위주체성(Student Agency) 형성과정에 대한 미인가(未認可) 대안학교 졸업생들의 내러티브 연구

This study explored the experiences and meanings of the process of forming agency among students at an unauthorized alternative school. A narrative research method was used, with stories about learning experiences at an alternative school and life experiences after graduation as the main research data. The research questions were as follows: How is student agency expressed in the learning experiences of alternative school students? How is agency integrated into graduates’ lives? What educational meaning is inherent in alternative school students’ agency? The results indicated the following. First, graduates initially began with their personal interests in the process of emerging developing agency; they went through a period of self-reflection. Second, they created opportunities for self-expansion by meeting various people both inside and outside the school. Third, the participants critically reflected on the values they learned in alternative schools after graduation and integrated them with deliberations on what a good life is for them and the world. Fourth, teachers were specific and meaningful beings who fostered student agency. Fifth, agency is not fixed, but is fluid depending on the circumstances of the community of practice.

Identity Transition of English Pre Service Teachers Studying at Teacher Profession Education Program

The identity transition of four prospective professional teachers while undergoing a professional development program is essential to consider. This research aims to understand the dynamics and processes that allow professional identities to develop and change. This research uses qualitative research and Schlossberg's transition model as a framework. The research participants were four prospective teachers from the Teacher Professional Education program. Data collection was carried out using the narrative inquiry method. The data analysis technique uses qualitative descriptive analysis. This study found that identity trajectories from the pre-transition period contributed to their current identity transition. Their previous change in identity was because teaching is an honorable profession with other perceived benefits, such as economic and cultural capital. In this program, prospective teachers said there was a transformation in their professional experience. The study emphasizes the importance of continuing education for prospective teachers to become professional teachers. Teacher education plays a vital role in ensuring that teachers have a strong foundation in the theory and practice of education. Qualified teachers are critical in providing effective and quality education to students, so teacher education is essential to the education system.

Legal Protection for Tumor Surgeons on the Side Effects in Breast Cancer Chemotherapy Services

Legal protection for tumor surgeons in facing chemotherapy side effects in breast cancer patients is essential in contemporary medical practice. This study employed a narrative method and legal approach to explore the legal protection available to tumor surgeons in addressing risks and side effects during chemotherapy services. The narrative method was used to explore the role of the law in protecting tumor surgeons and providing a clear framework for addressing side effects in chemotherapy services. Literature analysis regarding medical practice standards, professional responsibilities, and relevant legal cases were used to formulate a comprehensive perspective of this legal protection. The research highlights the need for meticulous documentation of procedures, risks, and patient consent before undergoing chemotherapy. Additionally, legal protection also depends on adherence to applicable medical practice standards and effective communication between tumor surgeons and patients. In conclusion, the understanding of tumor surgeons is needed for the legal implications of their medical practices, including in the context of chemotherapy services. Thus, the use of narrative methods in this study provides valuable insights for tumor surgeons to protect themselves and provide safe and quality services to breast cancer patients.

On the Lived Experiences and Identity Development of Homosexual Students

This paper documents the lived experiences of homosexual students and their identity development in Southern Leyte. The informants were gathered through purposive sampling and were interviewed face-to-face. Data were collected from the informants through a researcher-made questionnaire. A narrative inquiry method was utilized, where researcher-made questionnaires were used as a guide for the face-to-face interviews. It was identified that homosexuals have difficulty disclosing their sexuality to others due to various reasons. It was also noted that acceptance of homosexuals was a major factor in achieving their sexual identity. Some homosexuals disclosed that they believed their homosexuality was innate and inborn, indicating that they felt they were born to be homosexuals. Given the results of this study, it is recommended that respect for individuality, acceptance, and an open-minded attitude be extended to everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation.

Situación de las organizaciones educativas escolares en pandemia: tres aspectos clave

Educational organizations were affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic, and, as a result, many of them had to develop strategies and practices in order to continue providing educational services. In light of this, the present study aimed to understand the situation of educational organizations during the pandemic, focusing on the following educational phenomena: organizational resilience, educational improvement, and distributed leadership. To do this, the research was approached through the narrative review method, for which a total of sixty-two sources were examined, from the years 2020, 2021 and 2022. The study concludes that there is evidence of an increase in resilient capacities as well as the exercise of distributed leadership. Additionally, it was concluded that educational improvement facilitated the enhancement of actions related to teaching and learning processes during the pandemic.

Nursing students' reactions to a graphic novel: A multi-national descriptive qualitative study

BackgroundUndergraduate nursing programme teaching and learning methods and content must evolve to meet the changing evidence base, healthcare context and needs of new generations of nurses. Art-based and narrative methods have been employed to help student nurses explore complex issues, including patient experiences of health and illness, person-centred care and social determinants of health. One creative visual teaching tool is the graphic novel. However, little is known about student perceptions of graphic novels and how they facilitate student nurses' reflection, engagement and learning. Gaining such an understanding may be of especial value for teaching Generation Z students who are used to interacting with complex visual imgery and prefer alternatives to text-heavy documents. ObjectiveThe objective was to explore student nurses responses to Vivian, and graphic novels in general, as teaching resources in undergraduate nursing curricula in England, Sweden, and Aotearoa New Zealand. DesignA social constructionist critical framework informing a descriptive qualitative study. Setting and participantsUndergraduate nursing students in Sweden, England, and Aotearoa New Zealand. MethodsData were collected using focus groups and semi-structured interviews. Braun & Clark's method for thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. ResultsThree themes were developed: 1) reflections on clinical practice, including reflections on palliative care, holistic care for older people and communication between patients and staff; 2) graphic novels' usefulness as a teaching resource, in which students regarded them as an alternative way to learn; and 3) Vivian as a form of the graphic novel. ConclusionThe graphic novel Vivian helped nursing students engage in critical reflection and with challenging theoretical concepts. It, and graphic novels in general offer an alternative to print-based texts, which may heighten their appeal to Generation Z learners.

Factors influencing consumers’ green purchase behavior for sustainable organic food by Botswana university students

Sustainability issues are increasingly becoming important in business and society with many businesses in the food sector adopting green organic food production. The understanding of factors influencing consumers' green purchasing behavior will be more important to food marketers. The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors influencing consumers' green purchasing behavior for sustainable organic food by Botswana university students. To achieve this purpose the study followed an investigative qualitative approach. In-depth interviews were used to gather data. A sample of 15 university students was selected using a purposive sampling method. A thematic and narrative analysis method was used for this study. Results show that the factors influencing university students' green purchasing behavior for organic foodstuffs are multi-faceted. These factors include selection criteria such as price. distribution, product performance, and health attributes), consumers' environmental consciousness (environmental awareness, environmental knowledge), and consumers' green attitudes. The practical implications are that the businesses involved in organic food need to intensify the promotion and education of consumers on green and sustainable organic foods. The focus should be on the impact of green products on society, people, and the environment.

Implementation processes of social network interventions for physical activity and sedentary behavior among children and adolescents: a scoping review.

The characteristics of the implementation process of interventions are essential for bridging the gap between research and practice. This scoping review aims to identify the implementation process of social network interventions (SNI) to address physical activity and sedentary behaviors in children and adolescents. The scoping review was conducted adhering to the established guidelines. The search was carried out in the ERIC, EBSCO, EMBASE, SCOPUS, and Lilacs databases in April 2023. Social network intervention studies in children and adolescents were included, addressing physical activity or sedentary behaviors. Replicability (TIDieR), applicability (PRECIS-2), and generalizability (RE-AIM) were the explored components of the implementation process. Each component was quantitatively and separately analyzed. Then, a qualitative integration was carried out using a narrative method. Most SNI were theoretically framed on the self-determination theory, used social influence as a social mechanism, and used the individual typology of network intervention. Overall, SNI had strong replicability, tended to be pragmatic, and three RE-AIM domains (reach, adoption (staff), and implementation) showed an acceptable level of the generalizability of findings. The analyzed SNI for physical activity and sedentary behaviors in adolescents tended to be reported with high replicability and were conducted pragmatically, i.e., with very similar conditions to real settings. The RE-AIM domains of reach, adoption (staff), and implementation support the generalizability of SNI. Some domains of the principles of implementation strategies of SNI had acceptable external validity (actor, action targets, temporality, dose, and theoretical justification).

The Construction of the Narrative Self: Applying the Internal Multi-Actor Performance Method for Children (IMAP-C) to Help Children Cope with Emotional Distress

Currently, young people are confronted with a rapidly changing world filled with uncertainty, which often triggers negative emotions such as fear or sadness, ultimately leading to emotional distress. This article demonstrates a method that structures practitioners’ work and helps young people to cope with emotional distress. Known as the dialogical Method of Internal Multi-Actor Performance (IMAP) (Gkantona, 2023), this method was founded on the Dialogical Self Theory (DST) and has been developed for therapeutic and counseling procedures. The IMAP is a narrative method which aims to analyze the client’s multi-voicedness and its methodology follows four evolving dialogical stages (Thesis, Antithesis, Synthesis, and Meta-thesis), which facilitate the reorganization of clients’ internal narratives. Thus, the Internal Multi-Actor Performance Method for Children (IMAP-C) is presented, as modified to meet the needs of counseling and therapeutic procedures for children and adolescents experiencing emotional distress. Its adjustment to children’s needs focuses on developmental issues and the dialogical features of working with children as well as the use of art therapy techniques (i.e., role plays, drawings and therapeutic puppetry). A clinical case example illustrates the dialogical processes underlining the application of the IMAP-C in the treatment of a nine-year old boy who suffers from fears and post-traumatic stress. The child’s first attempts to form an integrated narrative identity are also highlighted.

Discourse Analysis of the impact of Short Videos on Public Design Awareness and Design Thinking

This paper delves into the context, content, and audience interaction of design-related short videos on Bilibili, examining their impact on design discourse. The study reveals that these short videos merge professional and popular design discourses, making design more accessible to the general public through unique narrative and visual methods. These videos not only provide design knowledge and technical demonstrations but also reflect a critique of fast-paced living and modern consumer culture. Through interactive features such as bullet comments and reviews, a diverse and interactive design discourse space has formed, where the boundaries between designers and viewers are increasingly blurred, facilitating the widespread dissemination of design concepts and innovative methods. Additionally, the platform's algorithms significantly influence the recommendation of video content, further shaping the paths of design discourse dissemination and audience reach. In summary, as a new media tool for design communication, design-related short videos not only broaden the audience for design but also promote the diverse development of design culture.

Mental health and social vulnerability. The case of women living on the street at Buenos Aires, Argentine

The purpose of this research is to investigate the possible relationship between homelessness and mental pathology in a population of women housed in a Social Inclusion Center of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. There could be a clinical bias that characterizes homelessness as a consequence of a mental illness. A group of women between 18 and 65 years of age, socially assisted in the Social Inclusion Center for women alone or with minor children “Azucena Villaflor” of the City of Buenos Aires, who in turn consult or have consulted in the past about their mental health before or after being homeless. An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional quantitative study was carried out, collecting primary data through semi-structured interviews, complementing the research with a qualitative approach using the narrative method through in-depth interviews. There is no unicausal relationship between having a mental illness and being homeless. The job search, a form of re-entry into the productive system, is extremely difficult, due to the market itself, not due to the psychological state of the users. However, the fruitless search generates situations of frustration that, given the context of vulnerability in which they find themselves, can lead to mental health consultations.

Recalling experiences of scarcity reduces children’s generosity relative to recalling abundance

Does a sense of having less or more than what one needs affect one’s generosity? The question of how resource access influences prosocial behavior has received much attention in studies with adults but has produced conflicting findings. To better understand this relationship, we tested whether resource access affects generosity in the developing mind. In our preregistered investigation, we used a narrative recall method to explore how temporary, experimentally evoked states of resource abundance or scarcity affect children’s sharing. In this study, 6- to 8-year-old American children (N = 148) recalled an experience of scarcity or abundance and then chose how many prizes to share with another child. We found that children in the scarce condition rated themselves as sadder, viewed their resource access as more limited, and shared fewer tokens than children in the abundant condition. Our results indicate that recalling past experiences of resource access creates distinct behavioral consequences for children and suggest that a sense of “having less” may encourage a strategy of resource conservation relative to a sense of “having more,” even at a young age.
