Politeness Principles Of Flouting Maxims Used By The Characters Of “The School Of Rock” Movie

The primary objective of this research is to examine and analyze the several instances in which the characters in the movie entitled "The School of Rock" flouted politeness maxims. Additionally, this research aimed to ascertain the underlying motivations of the characters in flouting the maxims, based on the context of situation. The documentation method was applied in this research to gather data that was methodically observed and documented. Due to its reliance on narrative description and without any numerical form, this research applied a descriptive qualitative methodology. The data, which was collected and consisted of utterances that violated maxims, was examined using several techniques. Based on the analysis, 23 data were found. 1 data of flouting generosity maxim, 12 data of flouting approbation maxim, 1 data of flouting modesty maxim, 4 data of flouting agreement maxim, 3 data of flouting sympathy maxim, which means the characters flouted all types of politeness principles maxims. The analysis of characters flouting maxims indicates that the motivations behind their actions vary depending on the context of situation. Most of the situations based on the context in the movie is dispraising to others, because of this, the characters mostly flouted approbation maxim.

The role of laryngeal hypersensitivity in dysphagia: A scoping review with embedded stakeholder involvement.

Based on stakeholder conversations, speech and language therapists have anecdotally observed cases of dysphagia with suspected laryngeal hypersensitivity. These presentations have been coined as 'muscle tension dysphagia' often with concurrent laryngeal sensitivity symptoms. However, the role of laryngeal hypersensitivity in dysphagia is not fully understood. Knowledge user engagement highlights a lack of clarity around diagnosis and investigative approaches, limited clinical guidance and inconsistent practice, which leads to inequity in service delivery and care. To identify and present the published literature regarding the definitions and clinical identification tools used during the management of laryngeal hypersensitivity related dysphagia. A scoping review was conducted following Joanna Briggs Institute methodology and EQUATOR PRISMA-ScR guidance. Patient and stakeholder engagement was embedded at each review stage. The protocol was registered with the Open Science Framework: DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/CUXYN. A multidatabase search strategy identified literature published between 2012 and 2022. A narrative description was used to report the study findings. The search identified 2590 citations. The full paper screening was completed on 88 studies, with 17 studies included in data extraction. There was a wide range of terminology and assessment approaches which varied across different clinical settings. The most cited term was 'muscle tension dysphagia'. The most common assessments tools were videofluoroscopy, fibreoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing and videostroboscopy, predominantly used in speech and language therapy and/or Ear, Nose and Throat settings. Gastroesophageal and respiratory investigations were less frequently cited. This review details the current evidence related to the terminology and assessment tools cited in laryngeal hypersensitivity related dysphagia to improve clinician knowledge and understanding. Patient and stakeholder involvement indicated that future research needs to: optimize consensus of terminology, and improve consistent identification methods, service provision and treatment approaches. This review highlights the lack of consistent terminology across the literature. A wide range of assessment tools report nonspecific positive clinical features and a lack of significant instrumental assessment findings. Patients and stakeholders identify the research priorities should improve clinician awareness, knowledge, guidance and evidence to support patient care. What is already known on the subject Swallowing difficulties can occur in adults for a number of different reasons, such as neurological, respiratory or physiological conditions. Swallowing difficulties with no evidence of biomechanical or structural impairment on instrumental assessment and of unknown cause (termed idiopathic functional dysphagia or medically unexplained dysphagia) is a poorly understood phenomenon. More recently, concurrent oropharyngeal dysphagia and laryngeal hypersensitivity and/or muscle tension have been posited as a potential underlying mechanism. What this study adds to the existing knowledge This scoping review contributes to our expanding knowledge of the role of laryngeal hypersensitivity in dysphagia by providing an overview of the current evidence related to the terminology and assessment tools reported in the literature. Embedded patient and stakeholder involvement further deepens real-world insights into the increased referrals for these individuals with increasing uncertainty in how to best assess, manage and support patients. Patients equally have reported that reduced professional awareness and inequalities in service delivery pathways result in poor patient experience and quality of life, and healthcare economic burden. What are the potential or actual clinical implications of this work? This scoping review draws our attention to an area of practice which has received little attention in both clinical practice and academic research. First, the study raises awareness of this population and the impact for services, speech and language therapists and clinicians; and second, highlights evidence-practice gaps with seldom consistency in the use of terminology and assessment approaches. The study provides priority research themes to expand our knowledge and understanding, as guided by the literature and patient and stakeholder input.

Konsep Diri Jurnalis Perempuan (Studi Fenomenologi Tentang Pengalaman Traumatik Jurnalis Perempuan Saat Menjalankan Profesinya)

This research aims to understand how female journalists develop their self-concept after experiencing traumatic events while performing their professional duties. Traumatic experiences include incidents such as invasion of privacy, sexual violence, terror, destruction threats, and verbal abuse. The phenomenon examined in this research is the impact of this experience on self-concept and the actions taken to restore the psychological condition of female journalists. A qualitative approach with phenomenological methods and symbolic interaction theory was employed. In this research, researchers involved 5 (five) female journalist informants using snowball sampling techniques. The finding reveal a variety of responses among female journalists, ranging from self-blame and doubt to positive self-concepts achieved by establishing personal boundaries. The essence of female journalists' responses to traumatic experiences obtained from structural descriptions extracted from narrative textural descriptions resulting from participant interviews is that even though they are faced with challenges and trauma, female journalists show resilience, determination, and a willingness to learn and grow from their experiences. which impacts their affirmation of their profession and personal well-being. This research contributes to the literature by providing a new perspective on the psychological dynamics and professionalism of female journalists in a local context. Apart from that, this research also has practical implications for media organization and government policies regarding the protection of female journalists and support for female journalists in various concrete forms.

Abstract: Characters in the ancestor narratives of Genesis, and especially in the Jacob cycle, are often modeled on the places and peoples that are thought to descend from them. Both Esau and Jacob, as national progenitors of Edom and Israel, occupy similar spaces to their later polities, and behave in similar ways. Yet, strangely, Jacob encounters a threatening Esau at the Jabbok River, far from where the Edomites would have reasonably interacted with the kingdom of Israel. In this article, I look at the literary history and narrative description of Esau and his relationship with the lands east of the Jordan. Before he was made the father of Edom, the character of Esau reflected monarchic-period projections of the broad networks of mobile groups involved in movement throughout the eastern highlands, and which were presented as threatening to inhabitants east of the Jordan.

Evaluación de la adecuación de los estudios de casos clínicos enfermeros a través de la lista de comprobación Case Report

Case report is a narrative description of the problem of one or several patients. The CARE checklist (Case Report) is the consensus document for reporting clinical case reports and through adaptations to the different CARE disciplines is used to define standards for authors in scientific journals; however, the specificity of the nursing process makes it difficult to adjust nursing case reports to CARE. The aim was to analyze the publications of clinical cases with a nursing perspective in scientific journals, as well as the quality standards and evaluation systems used. Few journals reviewed agreed to publish nursing case reports or stated standards for authors to adjust to CARE. Preliminary results indicated average or poor adherence to CARE, with the most reported elements being: Keywords, patient information and introduction. Adherence was lower for the elements: Timeline, therapeutic intervention, follow-up and outcomes, and patient perspective. The characteristics of the nursing process implies a low adherence to CARE, so it is necessary to unify criteria to guide researchers, authors, reviewers and editors of scientific journals, as well as to improve the rigor and quality of the reports. Currently, there are no specific guidelines for reporting clinical case reports with a nursing perspective available. These normative gaps could be solved by developing a CARE extension adapted to the methodological characteristics of the nursing process.

A research synthesis of humans, animals, and environmental compartments exposed to PFAS: A systematic evidence map and bibliometric analysis of secondary literature

BackgroundPer- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a class of widely used anthropogenic chemicals. Concerns regarding their persistence and potential adverse effects have led to multiple secondary research publications. Here, we aim to assess the resulting evidence base in the systematic secondary literature by examining research gaps, evaluating the quality of reviews, and exploring interdisciplinary connections. MethodsThis study employed a systematic evidence-mapping approach to assess the secondary literature on the biological, environmental, and medical aspects of exposure to 35 fluorinated compounds. The inclusion criteria encompassed systematic reviews published in peer-reviewed journals, pre-prints, and theses. Comprehensive searches across electronic databases and grey literature identified relevant reviews. Data extraction and synthesis involved mapping literature content and narrative descriptions. We employed a modified version of the AMSTAR2 checklist to evaluate the methodological rigour of the reviews. A bibliometric data analysis uncovered patterns and trends in the academic literature. A research protocol for this study was previously pre-registered (osf.io/2tpn8) and published (Vendl et al., Environment International 158 (2022) 106973). The database is freely accessible through the interactive and user-friendly web application of this systematic evidence map at https://hi-this-is-lorenzo.shinyapps.io/PFAS_SEM_Shiny_App/. ResultsOur map includes a total of 175 systematic reviews. Over the years, there has been a steady increase in the annual number of publications, with a notable surge in 2021. Most reviews focused on human exposure, whereas environmental and animal-related reviews were fewer and often lacked a rigorous systematic approach to literature search and screening. Review outcomes were predominantly associated with human health, particularly with reproductive and children’s developmental health. Animal reviews primarily focused on studies conducted in controlled laboratory settings, and wildlife reviews were characterised by an over-representation of birds and fish species. Recent reviews increasingly incorporated quantitative synthesis methodologies. The methodological strengths of the reviews included detailed descriptions of study selection processes and disclosure of potential conflicts of interest. However, weaknesses were observed in the critical lack of detail in reporting methods. A bibliometric analysis revealed that the most productive authors collaborate within their own country, leading to limited and clustered international collaborations. ConclusionsIn this overview of the available systematic secondary literature, we map literature content, assess reviews’ methodological quality, highlight data gaps, and draw research network clusters. We aim to facilitate literature reviews, guide future research initiatives, and enhance opportunities for cross-country collaboration. Furthermore, we discuss how this systematic evidence map and its publicly available database benefit scientists, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders by providing access to current systematic secondary literature on PFAS exposure.

Analysis of Teacher Competence Using the Madrasah Digital Report Applicationin Managing Student Learning Outcome

The purpose of this study is to ascertain the competence of teachers in utilizing the Madrasah Digital Report Card application for managing students' learning outcomes at the Private Tsanawiyah Madrasah Hubbul Wathan Modal Bangsa, Langkat County, located on Jl. Pasar 7 Bandar Meriah, North Namu Ukur Village, Sei Bingai District, Langkat County. This qualitative research aims to understand phenomena such as behavior, perception, motivation, and expectations of subjects, aligning with the study's focus on the implementation of the Madrasah Digital Report Card application at the Tsanawiyah Madrasah Hubbul Wathan Modal Bangsa. A descriptive narrative approach was employed, analyzing collected data and providing narrative interpretation to understand experiences. The results indicate that the utilization of the Madrasah Digital Report Card application at the Private MTs Hubbul Wathan Modal Bangsa is optimized by the teachers, who exhibit strong skills in operating the application. Consequently, the implementation has led to significant progress in technology use and enhanced the professional capabilities of teachers in managing students' learning outcomes.

Experience of CBT in adults with ADHD: a mixed methods study.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends Cognitive-Behavioural therapy (CBT) as the psychotherapeutic treatment of choice for adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in the UK. However, the literature often refers to adapted CBT programs tailored for ADHD and provides limited insight into how adults with ADHD experience and perceive this form of treatment in routine clinical practice. This mixed-methods study aims to explore ADHD individuals' experience and perception of CBT delivered in routine clinical practice, to gain a better understanding of this treatment's helpfulness and perceived effectiveness. A survey (n=46) and semi-structured in-depth interviews (n=10) were conducted to explore the experience of CBT and its perceived effectiveness in managing ADHD. The interviews were analysed using thematic analysis and the survey was synthesised using descriptive narratives. The thematic analysis highlighted three key themes: difficulties with the CBT framework, difficulties with CBT therapists, and consequences of CBT. The survey highlighted similar findings. Participants described the CBT framework as, generic, rigid, and too short, and described the CBT therapist as unspecialised, unempathetic, and not sufficiently adapting CBT to ADHD-related difficulties. Overall, participants found non-adapted, generic CBT in the UK to be unhelpful, overwhelming, and at times harmful to their mental well-being. Therefore, it is necessary for clinical bodies in the UK, while following the indicated NICE guidelines, to be mindful of adapting CBT delivery of CBT, to be most effective for people with ADHD and to mitigate potential harm.

Redlining, greenlining: Discourses of race and nature in Home Owners Loan Corporation neighborhood appraisals

Studies drawing correlations between Home Owners Loan Corporation “redlining” maps and present-day environmental outcomes have raised public attention about the role of systemic racial discrimination in producing uneven outcomes in the urban environment. In this analysis, we draw on a novel data source—narrative descriptions of neighborhood characteristics included in the area descriptions that accompanied City Survey maps—to explore the mechanisms that historically link HOLC maps and disparate environmental quality. Focusing on nine mid-sized cities in the Midwest, we draw on a combined inductive and deductive coding approach to consider how perceived urban environmental quality and neighborhood racial demographics shaped assessments of neighborhood value and risk. In doing so, we illustrate the ways in which nature, class, and race were already coupled at the time of the HOLC City Survey. The area descriptions in the HOLC City Survey illustrate the ways in which this coupling became codified and reinforced over time through housing and environmental policies, the impacts of which we still struggle to disrupt today.

Exploring ChatGPT's potential in the clinical stream of neurorehabilitation.

In several medical fields, generative AI tools such as ChatGPT have achieved optimal performance in identifying correct diagnoses only by evaluating narrative clinical descriptions of cases. The most active fields of application include oncology and COVID-19-related symptoms, with preliminary relevant results also in psychiatric and neurological domains. This scoping review aims to introduce the arrival of ChatGPT applications in neurorehabilitation practice, where such AI-driven solutions have the potential to revolutionize patient care and assistance. First, a comprehensive overview of ChatGPT, including its design, and potential applications in medicine is provided. Second, the remarkable natural language processing skills and limitations of these models are examined with a focus on their use in neurorehabilitation. In this context, we present two case scenarios to evaluate ChatGPT ability to resolve higher-order clinical reasoning. Overall, we provide support to the first evidence that generative AI can meaningfully integrate as a facilitator into neurorehabilitation practice, aiding physicians in defining increasingly efficacious diagnostic and personalized prognostic plans.

This document is a systematic review protocol that aims to investigate the variables associated with adolescent students' secure attachment relationship with teachers. The existing systematic review on this topic found that children with a secure attachment relationship with teachers have better academic and socio-emotional indices. However, there are currently no similar reviews for adolescents. Inclusion criteria for articles include: published in peer-reviewed journals in Portuguese, English, or Spanish; from 1969 to present; a sample of adolescents (10 to 19 years old); and results related to attachment with teachers. Furthermore, studies must be empirical, have Attachment Theory as a theoretical basis, and gathered from the following databases: ERIC (EBSCO), MEDLINE (EBSCO), PsycINFO (Ovid), Web of Science, Scopus, Scielo, Redalyc. The JBI Critical Appraisal checklists will be used to verify the risk of bias as well as the quality of the studies. It intends to present the outcomes through narrative descriptions and, if possible, meta-analytical statistics.

Abstract: This essay argues that Ben Lerner’s novel 10:04 (2014) employs “implicated realism” to represent the environmentalism of the rich. Implicated realism is a self-reflexive aesthetic that reveals how the foundations of literary realism—narrative description, bourgeois settings, an emphasis on daily life—rely upon the forms of exploitation that have also produced the climate crisis. I demonstrate that implicated realism in 10:04 , paradoxically, consists of both hyperrealism and realist failure. Lerner’s novel applies hyperrealist description to seemingly innocuous scenes, uncovering their implication in the uneven distribution of environmental harm. Such hyperrealism exists alongside realist failure, which 10:04 both thematizes and performs. Through realist failure, then, implicated realism confronts the compromised history of realism and its association with possessive individualism and extractive capitalism. Consequently, although many ecocritics discount realism’s ability to represent climate change, this essay identifies implicated realism as a self-reflexive and adaptive mode.

Fighting Biofilm Bearing Microbes, Global Challenges, Initiatives and Current Novel Therapeutics/Antibiofilm Strategies: A Narrative Scientific Record

Microbial survival against diverse anti-biocidal agents has advance beyond single organism interaction into intricate sessile cells consisting dynamic three-dimensional extracellular complex matrix of water channels. Such complex architecture is built with heterogeneous and variable components that encourage failure of antimicrobial-chemotherapeutic strides especially among biofilm bearing/expressing microbes (BBM). This is a noteworthy public health concern as such occurrence has welcomed global attention in recent times with focus on fighting BBM as well as exploration of novel therapeutic strategies. A narrative scientific description of biofilm as a community of microbes wrapped in extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) was reviewed. The challenges on disease/infection recalcitrance, risk to public health and the necessity to develop novel therapeutics for the management/control and suppression of biofilm linked infections were emphasized. It also summarized potential approaches including the use of antibiofilm/anti-adhesion agents, antimicrobial proteins (AMPs), aptamers, Nano-Particulates (NPs), quorum sensing inhibitors (QSIs), and peptide or protein-based nucleic acids (PNAs) while discussing the agents efficient potential ability. Such anti-biofilm agents/mechanisms and their target-specific-therapeutic relevance promises future for the management/control of biofilm associated microbial infections. Its application may also herald a generational effective combination therapy against illnesses/infections caused by BBM and served as a potential source for BBM global control.

Injuries and /or trauma due to sexual gender-based violence among survivors in sub-Saharan Africa: a systematic scoping review of research evidence

BackgroundSexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) is a prevalent issue in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), causing injuries and trauma with severe consequences for survivors. This scoping review aimed to explore the range of research evidence on injuries and trauma resulting from SGBV among survivors in SSA and identify research gaps.MethodsThe review employed the Arksey and O’Malley methodological framework, conducting extensive literature searches across multiple electronic databases using keywords, Boolean operators, medical subject heading terms and manual searches of reference lists. It included studies focusing on injuries and trauma from SGBV, regardless of gender or age, published between 2012 and 2023, and involved an SSA countries. Two authors independently screened articles, performed data extraction and quality appraisal, with discrepancies resolved through discussions or a third author. Descriptive analysis and narrative synthesis were used to report the findings.ResultsAfter screening 569 potentially eligible articles, 20 studies were included for data extraction and analysis. Of the 20 included studies, most were cross-sectional studies (n = 15; 75%) from South Africa (n = 11; 55%), and involved women (n = 15; 75%). The included studies reported significant burden of injuries and trauma resulting from SGBV, affecting various populations, including sexually abused children, married women, visually impaired women, refugees, and female students. Factors associated with injuries and trauma included the duration of abuse, severity of injuries sustained, marital status, family dynamics, and timing of incidents. SGBV had a significant impact on mental health, leading to post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideations, and psychological trauma. Survivors faced challenges in accessing healthcare and support services, particularly in rural areas, with traditional healers sometimes providing the only mental health care available. Disparities were observed between urban and rural areas in the prevalence and patterns of SGBV, with rural women experiencing more repeated sexual assaults and non-genital injuries.ConclusionThis scoping review highlights the need for targeted interventions to address SGBV and its consequences, improve access to healthcare and support services, and enhance mental health support for survivors. Further research is required to fill existing gaps and develop evidence-based strategies to mitigate the impact of SGBV on survivors in SSA.

Functional magnetic resonance imaging and functional dyspepsia: Predictive value questioned

Functional dyspepsia is a challenging condition in gastroenterology, characterized by digestive symptoms without evidence of organic pathology. Conventional diagnostic methods have significant limitations in terms of sensitivity and specificity. This study aims to explore the potential of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) as an innovative diagnostic approach for functional dyspepsia, with a view to improving diagnostic accuracy and benefiting patients. This integrative literature review, following the PRISMA guidelines, investigated the use of fMRI in the diagnosis of functional dyspepsia. Sixteen articles were selected after rigorous screening, employing detailed descriptive analysis and narrative synthesis. As a result, it was noted that patients with functional dyspepsia exhibit alterations in brain activity, especially in areas associated with sensory processing and emotional control, indicating dysfunction in these regions. It is concluded that fMRI has promising potential in the diagnosis of functional dyspepsia, complementing conventional methods. Although specific pathognomonic patterns have not been identified, the affected brain areas offer a basis for applying fMRI, improving understanding of the condition and enabling more targeted therapies.

The effect of digital game-based language learning mobile application on the development of complexity, accuracy, and fluency in foreign language monologic oral production among Chinese learners of English as a foreign language

The study reported the effect of a digital game-based language learning (DGBLL) mobile application “Speaking English Fluently – An Automated Scoring Artificial Intelligent Tutoring System on Spoken English” on the complexity, accuracy, and fluency in foreign language (FL) monologic oral production among 31 second year Chinese university learners of English as a foreign language (EFL). The participants’ monologic oral production was measured in the first (week 1) and last week (week 21) of a semester using the same narrative picture description task. The oral production was audio-recorded and transcribed. Both the transcripts and audio-files were analyzed on the complexity, accuracy, and fluency dimensions. The complexity was measured using the number of Mean (M) words per T-unit, the accuracy dimension was measured using the number of repairs and errors per 100 words; and the fluency dimension was measured via speech rate (i.e., number of words per minute), and M length of pauses. Students were required to download the mobile application and followed the monological practice section twice a week for 30 minutes each time. Using paired sample t-tests, we found that even though the participants’ repair rate and speech rate remained unchanged, they produced more complex monologic speech, had significantly fewer errors, and reduced average length of pauses after 20 weeks treatment using the mobile application, demonstrating a positive effect of the DGBLL mobile application on FL learners’ monologic oral production.

MADINA, a CMS application, makes cash management easier for corporate customers. Through SWOT and QSPM analysis, the bank formulates a digital marketing strategy to improve business performance. This research uses mixed methods, combining quantitative and qualitative data to produce a narrative description. This approach emphasizes the nature of data, process rather than results. Descriptive analysis was carried out using a financial ratio approach. The focus is on converting qualitative data into quantitative data from interviews as a data collection technique. Bank Muamalat Indonesia will implement a collaboration strategy with third parties as a top priority, with the highest TAS of 4,143. The second alternative is to utilize brand image, with TAS 4,068. Utilization of technology in promotions was the third highest strategy, with TAS 4,031, followed by sustainable satisfaction for partners with TAS 4,003. Training to improve the quality of human resources is the final strategy with a TAS weight of 4.031.

ABSTRACT This article proposes a theory of ‘trans infrastructuralism’. Through narrative and phenomenological description, trans infrastructures illuminate the enabling conditions for emergent, material, and intersubjective forms of trans masculine desire. We argue that the reproduction of intimate affects remains paradoxically obscured by the physical presence of public infrastructure. This is paradoxical because being intimate or maintaining intimate queer loving located an interstitial relation that contradicted the intended uses of public works. The odd intensities that emerge in the trans ordinary can therefore range from techno-social objects that comprise trans people who seek gender-affirming medical care to the important spatial relations that serve to propel new socialities. Many readers may find the insights gleaned from such scholarly writing about trans infrastructuralism. With the growing popularity of clear aligners, more patients have chosen to use them instead of traditional orthodontic braces to correct their malocclusions. Clear aligners offer distinct advantages over conventional fixed braces, such as limited aesthetic impact, the convenience of easily removing them for meals, improved accessibility for brushing and flossing, and a treatment approach that avoids the use of metal, minimizing potential irritation to the cheeks and gums. Manufacturers point out a disadvantage that can be administered in this type of treatment. Still, to our knowledge, a comprehensive review of the published literature assessing the adverse/negative effects of clear aligners has not yet been conducted. A systematic review, with or without meta-analysis, will be performed. The inclusion criteria will be studies involving individuals using clear aligners and reporting potential adverse/negative effects during or after treatment. No restrictions about time or language will be applied. The studies screening will be conducted in two stages. Two independent reviewers will initially evaluate the title and abstract under the eligibility criteria. Subsequently, the same two reviewers will examine the articles' full text in-depth. The results will be synthesized in the form of a narrative description and incorporate a meta-analysis if justified. Furthermore, we will present details regarding the sample characteristics, intervention, study objectives, methodologies employed, and primary findings. This study aims to investigate the potential adverse effects and their frequency among orthodontic patients wearing clear aligners. Moreover, the outcomes of this review have the potential to illuminate specific inherent limitations of aligner therapy as a comprehensive orthodontic approach.
