THE ROLE OF A CLEAN MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS PLANNING (MRP) SYSTEM IN REDUCING ENVIRONMENTAL WASTE (EXPLORATORY STUDY IN KUT TEXTILE AND KNITTING FACTORY)

The aim of this research is to shed light on the concept of the clean MRP system in the industrial organizations operating in Iraq, including the Kut textile and knitting factory of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, and to correct the views on the importance of MRP by presenting the clean MRP system, which is a tool of sub-systems aimed at operational planning, identifying the concept of environmental waste, defining its dimensions, and the commitment of the factory management to its indicators. The exploratory study methodology was adopted for research and the questionnaire tool was used in the study method to analyze the opinions of the research sample regarding the clean (MRP). Through the use of some statistical methods in the analysis. The research hypotheses were tested, which stated that there is no statistically significant correlation and the absence of a significant effect between the material needs planning system and environmental waste dimensions. The most prominent conclusions that were reached are the rejection of null hypotheses and the acceptance of alternative hypotheses regarding the existence of a statistically significant correlation between the clean (MRP) system and the dimensions of environmental waste. Among the most prominent recommendations Research, The factory management must identify strengths and weaknesses in its activity in order to make great use of modern production control systems, including the clean MRP system, and identify weaknesses and address them in order to reach optimal performance.

Comparison for the Characteristics of the OA, MRP, and ERP Systems

Information systems play varied roles in businesses and in the growth of businesses as a result of advancements in computer technology. On the comparison of MRP and ERP and the development process, certain scholars have offered their perspectives. There are, however, few researches that compare the traits of OA, MRP, and ERP in detail. In this paper, the features of office automation systems, material demand planning systems, and manufacturing resource planning systems are contrasted and discussed along with their historical development, present state, and various system goals. This study provides a summary of the OA, MRP, and ERP systems. The three MRP development stages are outlined, along with the distinctions between the relevant environment, production process, capacity needs, fundamental parts of e-commerce activities, management modules, and other characteristics. Enterprise managers can effectively improve the office and production efficiency of enterprises by analyzing, designing, implementing, and combining management knowledge of different systems. These results shed light on guiding further exploration of understanding the comparison of three system characteristics.

Telepresence Robot System for People with Speech or Mobility Disabilities.

Due to an increase in the number of disabled people around the world, inclusive solutions are becoming a priority. People with disabilities may encounter many problems and may not be able to easily participate in various activities due to physical barriers, which may sometimes cause them to be frustrated and embarrassed. Recently, the emerging telepresence robot technology has been proposed to enable people with disabilities to increase their presence by incorporating information and communications technology (ICT) into robotics platforms. Therefore, in this paper we conduct a comprehensive analysis using comparative and elicitation studies to understand the current state of mobile telepresence robot systems and to identify the gaps that must be filled. This paper further contributes to the literature by proposing a novel telepresence robot system that adapts text-to-speech (TTS) and ICT technologies with robotics for its use as an assistant. To the authors' knowledge, the proposed system is the first MRP system that supports speech impairment and introduces emotion components into its communication function. It includes an operator site (mobile) and a remote site (robot) to allow users to control the robot from a distance and communicate with others in remote locations. It allows the user to physically interact with people and show certain emotions through the robot in remote locations, or it can accompany them to speak on their behalf. It can provide agency for both remote and in-class users through emoji-based communication and audio-video streaming with recording functionality. As shown at the end of this paper, the system was tested with 30 people, some of whom had mobility or speech disabilities, showing that the user acceptance score was above 95% and that people with disabilities liked to interact with other people using the proposed system. The users appreciated having the ability to control the robot from a distance and praised the capability to show their emotions through the robot emoji motions and to control the audio-video streaming. From this study, we conclude that the proposed telepresence system could be an asset to people with speech and mobility disabilities and could help them feel physically present in various places.

Innovative Solutions and Challenges for the Improvement of Storage Processes

Innovative solutions are very important for the warehouse because, with their help, it is possible to ensure a more efficient connection between suppliers and consumers throughout the supply chain. This paper aims to search out and offer innovative solutions for the improvement of the storage processes in a LMC (logistics manufacturing company). The task of warehousing processes is to efficiently interconnect a complex set of operations. The proper logistics organization of warehouse processes ensures a competitive advantage for the entire company. Considering the problem identified in the company, this article raises a research question: what innovative solutions can be applied for the improvement of the storage processes? Summarizing the results of the research, it can be concluded that solving the problems of LMC warehousing processes and implementing improvements requires staff training, specialist consultations, and also a complex of innovative solutions such as: using racking systems with a racking truck, a warehouse management system with barcodes, a raw material management program, application Pick by Voice system, MRP and ERP systems, and ABC, JIT, and the Lean methods.

Adoção de tecnologias da Indústria 4.0: uma análise com pequenas e médias empresas do estado de São Paulo, Brasil

Abstract This paper analyzed the level of adoption and compared characteristics of adopters and non-adopters of Industry 4.0 technologies. Primary data for the year 2021 were collected by means of a structured questionnaire applied to 30 small and medium-sized companies of the metallurgical sector, who operate with machining processes, in the state of São Paulo. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical measures and correlation estimates. The technologies adopted by the companies in the sample were: Cloud Computing (10 companies), Horizontal and Vertical Integration Systems (5 companies), Big Data (4 companies) and Industrial Internet of Things (4 companies). The comparative analysis between the characteristics of adopters and non-adopters showed that: (I) adopters have, much more frequently, employees with ICT capabilities and also more frequently hire ICT consulting services; (II) the use of ERP and MRP systems is much higher among companies that adopt Industry 4.0 technologies; (III) adopters participate more frequently in cooperation programs with Universities, Science and Technology Institutes or Research and Technological Development Promotion Agencies; (IV) companies that adopt 4.0 technologies have a greater perception of relative advantage and compatibility of these technologies.

Analysis of Total Quality Management to Promoting the Application of MRP System

The current study considers the existence of relationships of association and influence between the overall quality management and MRP system. It happens by surveying (70) employees of Royal Color company in Sulaimaniyah. It has relied on several statistical means to study the relations between these two variables within a comprehensive framework. The research discusses whether or not there are a correlation and effect between the overall quality management and MRP system through the use of a Spearman correlation coefficient. The study has provided numeral inferences. The most essential is an important positive association among the overall quality management and MRP system. Such investigation also made a series of references consistent with those proposals.

Application of MRP System for Control of Raw Material Inventory with EOQ Lot Sizing

PT. Skala Maxima Griya Workshop 1 is a company who produces TV cabinets. Raw materials stored in Workshop 1 warehouse are very piling up to over stock. Forecasting is done using a method that is in accordance with the request pattern. Then the best forecasting method is chosen based on MSE, MAD, SDE, MAPE, ME, and MPE the smallest. Forecasting results are used to create a MPS. The data from the MPS is used to calculate safety stock and make product MRP. The results of MRP products are used to calculate gross requirements, lot sizing, and MRP of raw materials. This research uses lot sizing technique EOQ. After calculating the results obtained that the selected forecasting method is DES with alpha 0.1. The safety stock calculation also shows good results where the safety stock that must be prepared by the company is not too much the majority of value if in the round up is 1. The MRP calculation with lot sizing EOQ also shows a good thing where there is a savings in raw material costs of Rp 10,800,000 .00 or 54.18% after using this method.

Indonesia has limited budget to fulfill national defense posture, which cause unstable and fluctuation demand of main tool of weapon systems need. Industry in response to uncertain demand, requires good production planning for the ongoing business cycle. The research problem is how the ideal production strategy in response to fluctuating demand. Research question are analyzing user demand patterns, and production strategies, and ideal production management for industry in response to fluctuating demand. The research used qualitative method. The data obtained then analyzed by qualitative analysis techniques. The result show that user demand is based on availability of budget, which cause the user cannot provide certainly to the demand of main weapon system, the shortterm contract are complicate the industry to design their production plan. The Industry implements the MRP system, in its application, raw materials that are difficult to fulfill due to constrained policies and production machinery that often occur due to the old machine age becomes a problem in the application of MRP system, because MRP which will plan the production needs and the time required to stage of delivery. Implementation of the MRP should ideally be integrated with Just-In-Time and anticipated by the model of lowering risk with gradual change. Conclusions, marketing strategy has not been effective, so that it requires good coordination among relevant stakeholders, the fulfillment of production resources that also have limitations need to be anticipated with an effective production strategy, so that the production strategy is able to adjust the conditions that cannot be ensured, Strategy with the application of MRP system combined with Just-In-Time and method of lowering risk with gradual change, it is expected that the industry can survive the fluctuating demand and the policy that makes the limitations.

A hybrid model for planning programming and control of production for micro and small enterprises

Competition among small and medium-sized enterprises has grown over the years due to the advancement of technology and the globalization of the market and operations. Production Planning, Programming and Control (PPCP) acts as a link between management and manufacturing, in these small and medium-sized enterprises. The present study, through an action research in a microenterprise manufacturer of Brooms made of PET, aimed at the implementation of a hybrid PPCP system. The model was proposed by using the concepts of Lean Manufacturing, to map and know the process eliminating wasted time and resources, Theory of Constraints to identify constraints and bottlenecks and the MRP system to act within the context of pushed production. Therefore, it is possible to obtain a Framework that presents the method used in the implementation of the work, which provided with results such as production order, security stock, and correct input definition. The model put the company in other level of organization and efficiency in the use of resources.

Genomic Survey of Salt Acclimation-Related Genes in the Halophilic Cyanobacterium Euhalothece sp. Z-M001

Like other halophilic cyanobacterial genomes, the de novo-assembled genome of Euhalothece sp. Z-M001 lacks genes encoding keto-carotenoid biosynthesis enzymes, despite the presence of genes encoding carotenoid-binding proteins (CBPs). Consistent with this, HPLC analysis of carotenoids identified β-carotene and zeaxanthin as the dominant carotenoids. CBPs coexpressed with the zeaxanthin biosynthesis gene increased the survival rates of Escherichia coli strains by preventing antibiotic-induced accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). RNA-seq analysis of Euhalothece revealed that among various salt resistance-related genes, those encoding the Na+ transporting multiple resistance and pH adaptation (Mrp) systems, glycine betaine biosynthesis enzymes, exopolysaccharide metabolic enzymes, and CBPs were highly upregulated, suggesting their importance in hypersaline habitats. During the early phase of salt deprivation, the amounts of β-carotene and zeaxanthin showed a negative correlation with ROS content. Overall, we propose that in some halophilic cyanobacteria, β-carotene and zeaxanthin, rather than keto-carotenoids, serve as the major chromophores for CBPs, which in turn act as effective antioxidants.

Potassium resistance of halotolerant and alkaliphilic Halomonas sp. Y2 by a Na+-induced K+ extrusion mechanism.

In most halophiles, K+ generally acts as a major osmotic solute for osmotic adjustment and pH homeostasis. However, strains also need to extrude excessive intracellular K+ to avoid its toxicity. In the halotolerant and alkaliphilic Halomonas sp. Y2, an Na+-induced K+ extrusion process was observed when the cells were confronted with high extracellular K+ pressure and supplementation by millimolar Na+ ions. Among three mechanosensitive channels (KefA) and two K+/H+ antiporters founded in the genome of the strain, ke1 displayed around 3-5-fold upregulation to ion stress at pH 8.0, while much higher upregulation of Ha-mrp was observed at pH 10.0. Compared to the growth of wild-type Halomonas sp. Y2, deletion of these genes from the strain resulted in different growth phenotypes in response to the osmotic pressure of potassium. In combination with the transcriptional response of these genes, we proposed that the KefA channel of Ke1 is the main contributor to the K+-extrusion process under weak alkalinity, while the Mrp system plays critical roles in alleviating K+ contents at high pH. The combination of these strategies allows Halomonas sp. Y2 to grow over a range of extracellular pH and ion concentrations, and thus protect cells under high osmotic stress conditions.

The Effectiveness of MRP System to Forecast the Accuracy Inventory Requirement

The implementation of MRP systems play a crucial role in today's manufacturing process in providing valuable information not only to both marketing and manufacturing team, but the organization as a whole. Yet, MRP system does not possess the capability of doing everything. There are few limitations within MRP system in relation to flexibility and adaptability to the changes of the external environment. The objective of the study is to investigate the capability of MRP system in providing an accurate forecast for the inventory requirement. The study was conducted through a qualitative case study approach by analyzing historical data of a single multinational organization which is currently implementing MRP system in managing their inventory. Few supply chain performance indicators were applied to measure the effectiveness of MRP system in managing the inventory process. The result revealed that MRP system under investigation is the central engine for managing inventory and ensuring customer service. However, MRP system require valid and reliable data optimized by a set of pre-defined parameters to run effectively with possible interface with other supporting software. This study suggests other supporting software such as Stock Model to be interfaced with the MRP system for greater flexibility and adaptability in respond to foreseeable or unforeseeable external changes.

Multilevel Production Systems with Dependent Demand with Uncertainty of Lead Times

This study considers a multilevel assembly system with several components in each sublevel. It is assumed that actual lead time for all components is probabilistic; and periodic order quantity (POQ) policy for ordering is utilized. If at a certain level a job is not received at the expected time, a delay is incurred at the delivery of production at this level and this may result in backorders of the finished product. It is assumed in this case that a fixed percentage of the shortage is backlogged and other sales are lost. In the real situation, some but not all customers will wait for backlogged components during a period of shortage, such as for fashionable commodities or high-tech products with the short product life cycle. The objective of this study is to find the planned lead time and periodicity for the total components in order to minimize the expected fixed ordering, holding, and partial backlogging costs for the finished product. In this study, it is assumed that a percentage of components at each level are scrap. A general mathematical model is suggested and the method developed can be used for optimization planned lead time and periodicity for such an MRP system under lead time uncertainties.

Production and Material Planning in the Push and Pull Integrated System for Routine Products and Customers’ Orders

In this article the push and pull production system is investigated and the proper policies are presented to facilitate the production of customers’ orders and routine products. In this push and pull integrated manufacturing system we should choose the best production methods in different circumstances. Using linear programming is the method used to calculate the MPS and based on that MRP and SFC (for 4 weeks) are determined. Besides, the customers’ orders and all the material needed are added to the plan. The production system and raw material preparation are different in push and pull systems and the best decision should be made to consume the investment efficiency and deliver the production as customers need. In addition, a cycle of receiving orders from sales department is suggested. The results of calculation the plans for MPS, MRP, SFC, customers’ orders, etc. are determined. After calculating the MPS based on the push system, the orders are investigated for SFC and MRP system. Solving these models isn’t easy and soluble unless useful and comprehensive methods are used. This is a job sequences production line which is push and pull integrated system.

Longitudinal Analysis of Inhibitors of Manufacturer Delivery Performance

ABSTRACTThis article examines demand, manufacturing, and supply factors proposed to inhibit manufacturer delivery execution. Extant research proposes many factors expected to harm delivery performance. Prior cross‐sectional empirical research examines such factors at the plant level, generally finding factors arising from dynamic complexity to be significant, but factors arising from detail complexity to be insignificant. Little empirical research examines the factors using product‐level operating data, which arguably makes more sense for analyzing how supply chain complexity factors inhibit delivery. For purposes of research triangulation, we use longitudinal product‐level data from MRP systems to examine whether the factors inhibit internal manufacturing on time job rates and three customer‐oriented measures of delivery performance: product line item fill rates, average delivery lead times, and average tardiness. Our econometric models pool product line item data across division plants and within distinct product families, using a proprietary monthly dataset on over 100 product line items from the environmental controls manufacturing division of a Fortune 100 conglomerate. The data summarize customer ordering events of over 900 customers and supply chain activities of over 80 suppliers. The study contributes academically by finding significant detail complexity inhibitors of delivery that prior studies found insignificant. The findings demonstrate the need for empirical research using data disaggregated below the plant‐level unit of analysis, as they illustrate how some factors previously found insignificant indeed are significant when considered at the product‐level unit of analysis. Managers can use the findings to understand better which drivers and inhibitors of delivery performance are important.

Cloning and identification of Group 1 mrp operon encoding a novel monovalent cation/proton antiporter system from the moderate halophile Halomonas zhaodongensis.

The novel species Halomonas zhaodongensis NEAU-ST10-25(T) recently identified by our group is a moderate halophile which can grow at the range of 0-2.5 M NaCl (optimum 0.5 M) and pH 6-12 (optimum pH 9). To explore its halo-alkaline tolerant mechanism, genomic DNA was screened from NEAU-ST10-25(T) in this study for Na(+)(Li(+))/H(+) antiporter genes by selection in Escherichia coli KNabc lacking three major Na(+)(Li(+))/H(+) antiporters. One mrp operon could confer tolerance of E. coli KNabc to 0.8 M NaCl and 100 mM LiCl, and an alkaline pH. This operon was previously mainly designated mrp (also mnh, pha or sha) due to its multiple resistance and pH-related activity. Here, we will also use mrp to designate the homolog from H. zhaodongensis (Hz_mrp). Sequence analysis and protein alignment showed that Hz_mrp should belong to Group 1 mrp operons. Further phylogenetic analysis reveals that Hz_Mrp system should represent a novel sub-class of Group 1 Mrp systems. This was confirmed by a significant difference in pH-dependent activity profile or the specificity and affinity for the transported monovalent cations between Hz_Mrp system and all the known Mrp systems. Therefore, we propose that Hz_Mrp should be categorized as a novel Group 1 Mrp system.
