An approach to developing a set of related system models that forms the boundaries of the subject area, a hierarchical decomposition of the target system itself and its formalized description, called Model-based System Engineering, is considered. This approach is one of the basic systems engineering tools in the system modeling practice of complex systems. The results associated with the application of a model-based approach in complex supply chain planning systems in the electronics industry are presented. A comparative analysis of modeling languages for systems (SysML), web ontology (OWL) and the visual language of the BPMN method was carried out from the perspective of tools and a model-oriented approach. Recommendations are given on the use of tools for developing visual system models when modeling the order management process within the framework of supply chain control in the electronic equipment production.
