Video-Based Learning as a Modern Distance Learning Method for Biology

Biology, one of the fields taught in schools, is sometimes a bit difficult to convey. In biology lessons, illustrations are needed for several topics, such as body physiology, the circulatory system, the nervous system, and digestion. Therefore, it seems that the use of learning videos in the process of teaching biology will help students understand the lesson better. This study aimed to determine the use of basic educational videos as a tool for learning biology online. Literature was collected and compiled thoroughly to conduct this study. Studies have shown that basic learning videos can help teachers develop new methods for teaching biology in the classroom. The results of the study show that using basic learning videos as a medium for distance learning in biology can have a positive impact. It can improve cognitive skills and learning performance, develop interest, motivate students, and ensure that students understand the content of the lessons better.

Online Based Learning System (E-Learning) as Distance Learning Method Solutions: A Literature Review

Purpose – This study aims to identify critical success factors influencing the effectiveness of e-learning systems in Indonesia. It examines the advantages of e-learning, such as flexibility and affordability, as well as challenges like the digital divide and varying digital skills. By reviewing literature from diverse sources, the research underscores e-learning's potential as a distance learning solution, emphasizing the need for educational institutions to address challenges to maximize its effectiveness in Indonesian educational settings. Methodology/approach This study employs a literature review method to identify critical success factors affecting the efficacy of e-learning systems in Indonesia. Data is gathered from scientific journals, books, and research reports to analyze the advantages (flexibility, affordability) and challenges (digital divide, varying digital skills) associated with e-learning. Findings The research results show that e-learning has several advantages as a distance learning solution, such as flexibility, accessibility, interactivity and affordability. However, e-learning also has several challenges, such as the digital divide, differences in digital skills, and learning motivation. Novelty/value This study contributes novel insights by specifically examining the factors influencing the effectiveness of e-learning systems within the Indonesian educational context. Unlike broader studies, it focuses on the unique challenges and opportunities present in Indonesia, including the impact of the digital divide, varying levels of digital skills among learners, and specific strategies for enhancing learner engagement and motivation. By conducting a comprehensive literature review drawing from scientific journals, books, and research reports, the study consolidates existing knowledge and identifies gaps that are crucial for informing policy and practice

Continuing Educational Program in Nursing Informatics for Greek Nurses.

Nurses are required to adapt to a complex and rapidly evolving environment that incorporates new IT technologies. Continuing, lifelong learning, especially in the fast-growing fields of Nursing Informatics, eHealth and related Information and Communication Technologies, is vital to the professionalism of nurses. The study presents the curriculum development and implementation of the educational project entitled "Training of Nurses in Nursing Informatics and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)" which has been designed and offered to Greek nurses as a continuing - lifelong online educational program by the Health Informatics Laboratory of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The training material was created in three modules and 29 sub-modules, considering the new advancements and recommended competencies, necessary for the nurse, in the fields of Nursing Informatics and ICT. So far, eight training cycle courses have been offered to 1388 nurses, free of charge. Each course integrates synchronous and asynchronous distance learning methods and requires a workload of 70 hours over 10 weeks. The initial evaluation of the course by the participants, concerning its effectiveness, usefulness, and innovation are very encouraging.

Exploring Offline e-Learning for Resilience: A Case Study

There are too few teachers and schools to meet the need for quality universal basic education. Therefore, alternative approaches to education provision need to be explored, such as open and distance learning methods and development and provision of curriculum-based Open Educational Resources (OER). However, distribution of printed materials is increasingly costly, and distribution of digital resources remains a challenge in areas with little or no connectivity. This case study explores the potential of using offline strategies to share digital OER. It suggests it is possible to provide access to digital learning resources even in the most remote areas by using appropriate technology, like the Commonwealth of Learning’s Aptus device.

Educative capital of online school students: searching for empirical referents

The article is about Russian online schools that issue state-issued certificates to graduates. The relevance of the study is related to the accelerated process of digitalization of education and the need to improve the quality of human capital. The authors present a methodological model for analyzing the educational capital received by students in online schools. Empirical referents, with the help of which it is possible to identify the structure of educational capital and analyze its most developed elements and deficit zones, are substantiated. It was possible to classify the developed indicators and divide them into six groups. Among the proposed indicators are academic performance, participation in Olympiads for schoolchildren, family educational capital, knowledge of foreign languages, computer literacy, profile and rating of schools, attendance at extracurricular activities. To understand the transmission of family educational resources, especially in the dynasties of technical specialists, not only the education and profession of the online school student's parents but also the education and professional activities of older generations of the family are taken into account. The list of referents is made to study the educative capital of online school students but it is also relevant to other groups of students. Indicators can be used in various types of empirical sociological and interdisciplinary research. In general, the methodological model is more suitable for the analysis of reflective technologies: representative polling, standardized questionnaires, focus groups, open-ended questionnaires, biographical interviews and other qualitative sociological methods. The results of the study are useful for various areas of social policy, as well as for evaluating the digital educational environment and distance learning methods at school.

Analysis of the effectiveness of the methodology for designing a cloud-oriented distance learning environment for biology in informal education conditions

The article contains an analysis of research on the design of a cloud-oriented environment for distance learning of biology, teachers' experience in designing cloud-oriented environments contributes to the development of distance learning forms in general secondary education institutions and the widespread implementation of electronic tools in educational practice. When organizing distance learning in natural sciences, it is necessary to take into account the platform's capabilities and services for developing students' natural-science thinking, conducting observations, laboratory and practical experiments, implementing experimental tasks. The combination of cloud services and methods of distance learning in biology allows visualization of biological processes, the research-oriented nature of activities, organizing research projects on a single platform, using media resources, interactive simulators, integrating virtual content with the physical environment, and using programs for quality knowledge monitoring. The aim of the study is to develop a methodology for teachers to design a cloud-oriented educational environment for distance learning of biology for students in informal education conditions, testing its effectiveness based on the results of evaluation using a factor-criterion model, and developing recommendations for improving the qualifications of teachers in designing cloud-oriented environments in informal education conditions. Theoretical and empirical methods were applied to achieve the set goal, involving the study of previous research in the field of designing distance educational environments and the integration of cloud services into the educational process. Mathematical statistical methods were used to analyze the results of the survey of teachers from the focus group. The effectiveness of the developed methodology was tested using a factor-criterion model, which includes four factors: organizational, methodological, procedural, and content. Expert assessment of the effectiveness of the methodology revealed that the effectiveness of designing a cloud-oriented environment for distance learning of biology by biology teachers in general secondary education institutions, who participated in the focus group, is 0.79, indicating a high level

Modern methods of distance learning in the educational process of a higher education institution

Relevance. Due to the spread of COVID-19, the study and practical application of effective distance learning methods have become the most relevant subjects in teaching. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to analyse modern methods and tools for the implementation of distance learning in universities, which can form the basis of teachers' professional readiness for the online learning process. Methodology. Since this subject is broad in content, the study consisted of two parts: theoretical and practical, where functional and dialectical approaches and general methods of research are used: analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalisation, and analysis of scientific literature. Results. The theoretical part analysed the online organisation of the educational process at the I. Zhansugurov Zhetysu University (Republic of Kazakhstan) and the Moscow Institute of Psychoanalysis (Russian Federation), which allowed defining the basic concepts of distance learning. In practice, the criteria of teachers' readiness and modern methods of distance learning are proposed. Conclusions. In conclusion, the study highlights the critical role of modern distance learning methods in higher education, particularly in response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. By analyzing the implementation of these methods at I. Zhansugurov Zhetysu University and the Moscow Institute of Psychoanalysis, the research identifies essential concepts and practical strategies for effective online education. The proposed criteria for teachers' readiness emphasize the importance of equipping educators with the necessary skills and tools for distance learning. These findings can inform the development of comprehensive training programs to enhance the quality of online education in universities. Distance Learning and the Application of Technology: Culture Specific Measures in Technology Based Instruction

Determining the overall level of satisfaction among students who are being educated via distance learning methods and how instructional approach (synchronous versus asynchronous) varies, in terms of both knowledge outcome and level of satisfaction, is the hallmark of this study. It also considers student perception of online learning compared to face-to-face learning, and whether or not students can learn as much online as in person. Further, students can, in some cases, be more satisfied with online learning. Student success levels and satisfaction are, however, related to the level of engagement they experience and the cultural adaptability of the course work, as it relates to the online teaching methods used and the teacher’s approach to online learning. Thus, the study concludes that distance learning is an appropriate approach for students but more research is needed regarding best practices for collaboration, content delivery, and adaptability.

Pembelajaran IPA Selama Pandemi Menggunakan Metode Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh (Studi Kasus pada Anak Kelas 4 SD Tunas Muda Jakarta Barat)

The Covid19 pandemic is a test for distance learning in Indonesia which has the potential to bring dramatic changes in all areas of life, especially the world of education. This research was conducted with the aim of finding out the obstacles faced by teachers in learning science using distance learning methods and to find out teachers' efforts to optimize science learning using distance learning. This research was carried out at Tunas Muda Elementary School, West Jakarta, with a research duration of one month starting from the second week of December 2022 to the second week of January 2023. The research method applied in this research was descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were the science teachers at Tunas Muda Elementary School in West Jakarta and the research informants in this study were the principal, class teacher and science subject teacher at Tunas Muda Elementary School, West Jakarta. The three data collection techniques in this research include observation, interviews and observations. The application of triangulation techniques is used as a data validity technique in this research. The findings in this research show that the obstacles experienced by teachers as educators are divided into several indicators including 1) the process of delivering learning material 2) interacting with students during the learning process 3) quality of empowering facilities and elements in learning 4) managing teaching materials so that they are easier to understand students 5) prepare the curriculum according to the conditions that occur. Then it has been proven that the teachers or SD Tunas Muda West Jakarta have made various efforts and adjustments aimed at optimizing science learning which is carried out using distance learning methods.

Distance Learning Model of Mathematics During the Covid-19 Pandemic in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah

The Covid-19 pandemic has prompted substantial changes in elementary schools, including Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, in adapting their learning methods. This situation has posed several challenges, particularly in implementing distance learning. The objective of this research is to analyze the distance learning model of mathematics in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Qualitative research methodology was employed for this study. This research was conducted in one of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah located in South Tangerang city, Banten Province, Indonesia. The participants included school principals, vice principals responsible for curriculum, and teachers conducting mathematics classes through online distance learning. Data collection utilized methods such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis comprised four steps: data collection, data reduction, data display, and data conclusion. The results showed that the distance learning model of mathematics is delineated through various aspects. These include the preparation of an emergency curriculum during an emergency curriculum during the Covid-19 pandemic, the implementation of online distance learning procedures involving teachers, students, and parents, the selection of online distance learning methods, the utilization of various online learning media, the utilization of student books as learning resources, and the evaluation program of learning to measure the achievement of mathematics learning objectives. These findings can serve as a reference for developing a distance learning model for mathematics that can be implemented in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah during the Covid-19 pandemic. In the modern educational space of the transport industry, where technological changes become an integral part of everyday life, the implementation of interactive methods of distance learning plays a key role in effective theoretical training of transport personnel. The implementation of distance education and the use of interactive methods provide unique opportunities for turning theory into practice, providing students and employees of the transportation industry with the necessary competencies. This article deals with the application of interactive methods in distance education in the theoretical training of transportation personnel. The article discusses the current state of transportation education in the Russian Federation and emphasizes the importance of theoretical training in this field. The authors study the main concepts of distance education, including its definition, advantages and limitations, highlight the role of interactivity in the training of transport personnel, and analyze games, simulations, virtual and augmented reality as constituent elements of interactive methods of distance learning.

Analysis of the digital transformation processes of the oil and gas industry

Most modern digital technologies, which are part of the fourth industrial revolution, can be used to improve the efficiency of production processes in the oil and gas industry, in particular, in exploration, planning and optimisation of well construction and maintenance operations, secondary oil and gas recovery methods and enhanced oil and gas recovery. Information flow management can significantly reduce operating costs associated with oil and gas field logistics. Production processes in the oil and gas industry are accompanied by the collection, transmission, processing and storage of significant amounts of information aimed at making and implementing the necessary decisions. In these conditions, big data management technologies are becoming increasingly important. The proliferation of digital technologies, given the peculiarities of oil and gas technologies, requires improvement of measures and means of protection against unauthorised interference with information flow management processes. The use of distributed ledger technology makes data leakage impossible and provides a high level of protection of the information field. The conducted research has identified areas of rational use of simulation software and special applications in the form of automated calculation algorithms in modelling the work processes of oil and gas equipment. Simulation programs do not require a mathematical description of the oil and gas machine's workflow, but are ineffective in the case of a significant number of calculation operations. The use of an automated calculation algorithm is advisable if it is necessary to involve numerous arrays of source data, the analysis of which involves the implementation of numerous calculation procedures. Increasing the share of digital technologies in the educational process involves the widespread introduction of electronic document management, the legalisation of electronic signatures and distance learning methods.

Formation of professional competencies of future specialists in the field of health protection in the conditions of distance education

The article is devoted to the study of the process of formation of professional competencies of future specialists in the field of health care in the conditions of distance learning. The article considers the main aspects of the educational process, in particular, the use of modern technologies in the learning process, the organization of remote practical classes, methods of evaluating acquired knowledge and skills. The effectiveness of the use of distance learning tools in the formation of students' key competencies was analyzed and recommendations for optimizing this process were offered. The results of the study can be useful for participants of the educational process working in conditions of distance or mixed learning. The article is aimed at identifying effective strategies, methods and tools that contribute to a successful educational process, as well as at developing recommendations for optimizing the educational process in the conditions of distance learning for students of medical specialties. The purpose of the article is to study and analyze the process of formation of key professional skills and knowledge in future specialists in the field of health care using distance learning methods. A complex of the following methods was used during the research: theoretical - analysis, synthesis, generalization, systematization, specification, comparison, theoretical modeling; empirical - observations, conversations, analysis of the results of students' activities. As a result of the study, it was found that the use of distance learning methods is an effective tool in the formation of key professional skills and knowledge in future specialists in the field of health care. The use of modern technologies makes education more accessible and flexible, providing students with the opportunity to receive quality education regardless of their place of residence and work schedule. However, it is important to emphasize that the success of the learning process depends on the correct organization of the learning process and the use of effective pedagogical methods. Recommendations for optimizing distance learning include the development of interactive online courses, the use of remote practical classes and a system of objective assessment of students' skills and knowledge.

Exploring and counteracting stage specific course completion risk factors in open higher education distance learning

Abstract A major challenge for distance learning in higher education is supporting course completion. Counteracting completion risk factors requires investigating their significance across (non)completion stages. We tested the predictability of known risk factors at each completion stage. Not initiating was explained by available time, low motivation and completion methods. Abandonment was predicted by life situation and inappropriate completion methods. Failed submissions were explained by difficulty level and material availability. At early stages, supporting motivation by designing suitable course completion methods seems the most effective risk countermeasure. At later stages, academic skills protect from non-completion. Intrinsic motivation requires experiencing competence, autonomy and relatedness. Flexible distance learning methods with constructive, informational feedback and social interaction in the instructional design might best support course completion.

Эффективность применения инновационных методов обучения персонала для повышения безопасности на опасных производственных объектах

The article considers methods and tools used for the implementation of e-learning technology within the structure of «RZhD» JSC. In current conditions, the traditional methods of learning obtain new forms and content based on the implementation of innovative technologies in the process. Despite this fact, the participation of employees in production processes remains an extremely significant topic. Each employee must continue learning throughout his (her) professional career. Intercorporate training is one of the most important ways to improve the professional level of personnel. E-learning is an integral part of the contemporary learning process. Its implementation helps to improve the formation of employees’ competencies. The effectiveness of employees depends on their knowledge of the features of innovation management, continuous professional development, systematic thinking and high responsibility for results. To achieve effective indicators, innovative solutions must be used in order not only to meet the regulatory requirements but also to ensure the comprehensive absorption of learning materials by the personnel. The work reveals the concepts of «technology of e-learning», «methods of e-learning», and «tools of e-learning» are disclosed. The main factors causing the necessity of training have been determined. The advantages and disadvantages of distance learning methods have been identified and analyzed. The elements of studies aiming at the identification of the efficiency of training methods applied based on the surveys among employees are included in the research. Practical recommendations and activities based on the use of feedback techniques and the development of critical thinking among personnel are provided. Practical recommendations and measures based on the application of the feedback methodology and critical thinking development for employees are provided. An expert view is presented on the use of modern technical and technological solutions, as well as the latest digital capabilities in terms of optimization and efficient and safe work organization.

ПЕДАГОГИЧЕСКИЕ ФАКТОРЫ, СПОСОБСТВУЮЩИЕ УЛУЧШЕНИЮ ЭФФЕКТИВНОСТИ ДИСТАНЦИОННОГО ОБРАЗОВАНИЯ НА УРОВНЕ ВЫСШЕГО УЧЕБНОГО ЗАВЕДЕНИЯ

This article examines the impact of the 2020 pandemic on the use of distance learning technologies in educational institutions, emphasizing the need to develop and analyze digitalization in the educational field. Special attention is paid to the opinions of students with special educational needs regarding distance learning methods, their interaction with teachers and the problems they face. The article aims to identify the key pedagogical conditions for effective distance learning, based on the subjective feedback of students. Based on the survey data, the authors emphasize the importance of the theoretical and methodological basis for the development of digital education and emphasize the need for a critical review of its components for the formation of competencies and professional growth of students.

TRANSFORMATIONAL PROCESSES IN ADULT EDUCATION IN THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND

The article discusses the transformational processes in adult education in the Republic of Poland. The normative legal documents that influenced the education of adults are analyzed; documents in the field of adult education, resolutions introduced for the period of temporary restriction of the functioning of units of the education system, in particular higher education institutions and other educational institutions, as well as employers, in connection with the prevention, counteraction and fight against COVID-19. It is concluded that, depending on the epidemic situation, online classes, hybrid or stationary classes were limited or cancelled, which affected both the organization of the educational process of adult learning, and its participants. Classes using distance learning methods and techniques have become a priority. The transformational processes in adult education in the Republic of Poland allow us to conclude that there is a clear relationship between adult education and change. Polish andragogues in their reflections and studies draw attention to this relationship. Attention is drawn to the fact that there is a double impact of transformations on adult education: the goal of transformation is not only to reduce the tension that led to the transformation, but also to create new conflicts that should stimulate the individual to creative activity in this new situation It is also necessary to pay attention to the dual impact of the transformation of the system on adult education: it is always stated that its purpose is not only to reduce tension, which led to transformation, but also to the creation of new conflicts that should stimulate the individual to creative activity in this new political formation. The forms and content of adult education today are determined by three vectors: the needs of the labor market, the resources and capabilities of the modern information society, and the individual aspirations of adults for education. The synergistic effect of the interaction of these vectors may be a change in the way of perception and organization of educational processes for adults, which will lead to a decrease in their institutionalization.

Blended Learning in the Digital Skills Module: Insights from Students’ Perceptions

Blended learning is emerging as a significant pedagogical innovation in higher education, integrating traditional and distance learning methods. There is limited research focusing on students’ perception of blended learning mode in the context of Moroccan universities. Therefore, this article aims to investigate the perceptions of undergraduate students majoring in physics at Ibn Tofail University regarding the digital skills module that integrates blended learning mode. To achieve this objective, we randomly selected a sample of 265 students from the target population to conduct a quantitative research using a questionnaire consisting of ten questions employing a 5-point Likert scale. The median scores of all questions ranged between 3.36 and 3.95. The obtained scores suggest that the surveyed students hold a positive perception of blended learning-based digital skills module instruction. Furthermore, the results of this article show that students’ perception of the pedagogical resources and the pedagogical activities offered in the context of the digital skills module positively correlate with their overall satisfaction with the learning experience. The study’s originality stems from its role in bridging the literature gap by providing new insights into students’ perceptions of blended learning in the context of higher education in Morocco.

Разработка банков тестовых заданий как разновидности современных аттестационных педагогических измерительных материалов

In connection with the transition of higher education to the Federal State Educational Standards of Higher Education of the third generation in terms of evaluating learning outcomes, a new task has arisen to create such an assessment system that would allow determining the formation of competencies and parts of competencies of students and graduates. To do this, universities should create a qualitatively new system for evaluating educational outcomes. At the same time, it is certainly desirable that the new system make maximum use of already well-tested, repeatedly tested and familiar tools and techniques. Testing is one of these tools that meet modern requirements and at the same time are already familiar to users. Of particular note is the value of testing for current and widely used distance learning methods. The article is devoted to some aspects of modern testing, namely, the creation of databases of test tasks and the design of the test tasks themselves as a type of certification and pedagogical measuring materials based on the provisions of the theory of testing and international standards.
 The article may be useful to all teachers who use or intend to use modern testing tools in their professional activities, teachers who form funds of assessment tools for disciplines at departments of educational institutions of higher education, as well as to the organizers and performers of diagnostic work of Rosobrnadzor – heads of departments and heads of the main professional educational programs.

The impact of distance learning on the attitudes of nursing students: An online survey study

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the transition to distance education in nursing education. However, Nursing students are not accustomed to learning through distance learning.This research aimed to determine the effect of distance education method on the attitudes of nursing students towards the profession during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was cross-sectional in design. Data were collected with an online survey about distance education and the nursing profession through Google Forms in November 2020 and June 2021 at the nursing department. The students' views on distance education were moderate (46.66±8.81), and their attitudes towards the nursing profession were good (86±13.86). There was no statistically significant relationship between scale scores. There was no statistically significant difference in terms of students' grade levels, graduating from a distance education institution before, taking courses through distance education before the COVID-19 pandemic and clinical practice before the pandemic, and their attitudes towards both distance education and the nursing profession. Our study shows that the distance learning method does not affect students' attitudes toward the nursing profession.
