Analysis of the Relationships between Variables and Their Applications in the Energy Saving Field

Energy saving is an important measure to promote social green transformation. The traditional energy-saving ideas usually only focus on a specific loss, and seldom consider the possible relationship and influence among various losses. In relatively complex energy-using systems, there are often many kinds of losses, and each loss may have many influencing factors. There may be some relationship between these losses and the influencing factors. To solve this problem, this paper presents an analysis method of the variable association in multi-variable systems. First, the basic relationships between variables and the representation methods are discussed. The basic concept of a path between variables is given, and the analysis method of variable association based on path statistics is provided. This paper focuses on the analysis of the influencing factors and paths of the observed variables, as well as which observed variables will be affected by a control variable. Then, based on the correlation matrix, the quantitative analysis method of the influence between variables is given. Variable correlation analysis is innovatively applied in the field of energy saving to determine the correlation of losses through variable associations, guiding the preliminary screening of energy-saving measures and analyzing the collateral effects of these measures. Based on the correlations between energy losses, a scientific process for formulating energy-saving measures is proposed. The variable correlation analysis method proposed in this paper is a generalized method, which can judge the correlation between variables from the perspective of theoretical analysis and avoid the dependence on data. In addition to good applications in the field of energy conservation, it can also be widely used in construction, transportation, climate change, and other fields. The proposed energy-saving ideas take into account the intensity of influencing factors on loss and the correlation between loss, which improves the effectiveness of energy saving measures.

Safety evaluation of human-caused errors in civil aviation based on analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method

PurposeAt present, the statistics of human error events in domestic civil aviation are limited, and the analysis indicators are difficult to quantify. The purpose of this study is to reduce the incidence of human error events and improve the safety of civil aviation.Design/methodology/approachIn this paper, a safety prevention evaluation method combining analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) is proposed. The risk factors of civil aviation safety are identified through questionnaire survey and calculated by MATLAB software.FindingsThe results of the study are as follows: a safety risk evaluation index system including 4 first-level indicators and 16 second-level indicators is constructed; the AHP is used to calculate the weight of the influencing factors of human error and sort them; and the FCE method is used to quantitatively evaluate the safety prevention of civil aviation human error and put forward the countermeasures.Research limitations/implicationsThis study also has some limitations. While it provides an overall quantitative identification of civil aviation safety risk factors, the research methods chosen, such as the questionnaire survey method and the AHP, involve individual subjectivity. Consequently, the research results may have errors. In the preliminary preparation of the follow-up study, we should analyze a large number of civil aviation accident investigation reports, more accurately clarify the human error factors and completely adopt the quantitative analysis method in the research method.Practical implicationsThis study identifies the risk factors of civil aviation safety and conducts a reasonable analysis of human error factors. In the daily training of civil aviation, the training can be focused on previous man-made accidents; in view of the “important” influencing factors, the aviation management system is formulated to effectively improve the reliability of aviation staff; according to the evaluation criteria of human error in civil aviation, measures to prevent and control accidents can be better formulated.Social implicationsIn view of these four kinds of influencing factors, the corresponding countermeasures and preventive measures are taken according to the discussion, so as to provide the basis for the prevention of aviation human error analysis, management and decision-making, prevent the risk from brewing into safety accidents and improve the safety of aviation management.Originality/valueBased on the questionnaire survey, this study creatively applies the safety prevention evaluation method combining AHP and FCE to the study of civil aviation human error, integrates the advantages of qualitative and quantitative methods, flexibly designs qualitative problems, objectively quantifies research results and reduces subjective variables. Then, by discussing civil aviation safety management measures to avoid risk factors, reduce the incidence of human error events and improve the safety of civil aviation.

Research on batch multielement rapid quantitative analysis based on the standard curve-assisted calibration-free laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy method

This study proposes a batch rapid quantitative analysis method for multiple elements by combining the advantages of standard curve (SC) and calibration-free laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (CF-LIBS) technology to achieve synchronous, rapid, and accurate measurement of elements in a large number of samples, namely, SC-assisted CF-LIBS. Al alloy standard samples, divided into calibration and test samples, were applied to validate the proposed method. SC was built based on the characteristic line of Pb and Cr in the calibration sample, and the contents of Pb and Cr in the test sample were calculated with relative errors of 6% and 4%, respectively. SC built using Cr with multiple characteristic lines yielded better calculation results. The relative contents of ten elements in the test sample were calculated using CF-LIBS. Subsequently, the SC-assisted CF-LIBS was executed, with the majority of the calculation relative errors falling within the range of 2%–5%. Finally, the Al and Na contents of the Al alloy were predicted. The results demonstrate that it effectively enables the rapid and accurate quantitative analysis of multiple elements after a single-element SC analysis of the tested samples. Furthermore, this quantitative analysis method was successfully applied to soil and Astragalus samples, realizing an accurate calculation of the contents of multiple elements. Thus, it is important to advance the LIBS quantitative analysis and its related applications.

Using terahertz spectroscopy to quantify bioactive flavonoids in Moxa Wool as predictor of rheumatoid arthritis treatment outcomes

BackgroundMoxibustion, a traditional Chinese medicine practice, employs Moxa Wool, derived from Artemisia argyi. Flavonoids, the key pharmacological constituents in Moxa Wool, are known for their anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. The purity of Moxa Wool, particularly its flavonoid content, directly influences the efficacy of moxibustion treatments. However, quantifying these bioactive flavonoids accurately and non-destructively has been a challenge. PurposeThis study introduces terahertz spectroscopy as a non-destructive optical detection method for qualitative detection and quantitative analysis of flavonoids in Moxa Wool. By establishing a mathematical model between spectral signals and clinical efficacy, a reliable correlation between flavonoid concentration and the therapeutic effect of moxibustion can be established, providing a potential predictive model for the treatment outcomes of rheumatoid arthritis. Study DesignWe adopted terahertz spectroscopy technology and combined it with terahertz metamaterial biosensors to achieve rapid, efficient, and non-destructive testing of the quality of Moxa Wool. This method reduces the detection time from hours to minutes while lowering the sample detection limit, overcoming the limitations of traditional detection methods in pharmacological research. MethodsThrough terahertz metamaterial biosensors, rapid detection of the purity of Moxa Wool has been achieved. A combination of molecular simulation and terahertz spectroscopy was used to quantitatively analyze the flavonoid content in different purities of Moxa Wool. To ensure accuracy, the quantitative results of flavonoids obtained by terahertz spectroscopy were validated using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). In addition, moxibustion treatment was performed on rats with rheumatoid arthritis using Moxa Wool, and medical indicator information was recorded. A mathematical analysis model was established to evaluate the correlation between flavonoid content and analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. ResultsTerahertz spectroscopy analysis shows that there is a direct correlation between the flavonoid content in moxibustion and the absorption peak intensity. The maximum R2 in the model analysis is 0.98, indicating a high accuracy in predicting the purity of Moxa Wool. These results were also validated by HPLC. In a rat model, the purity of 30:1 Moxa Wool samples showed a 50 % decrease in TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 levels during treatment compared to low-purity samples, significantly reducing inflammation markers and pain symptoms. Meanwhile, The PLS prediction model established a correlation between terahertz-detected flavonoid levels and treatment outcomes (PWL and IL-1β). The maximum R2 in the model is 0.91, indicating a high correlation between flavonoid levels and the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of moxibustion treatment. ConclusionThis study not only demonstrates the effectiveness of terahertz spectroscopy in the pharmacological quantification of bioactive compounds but also establishes a novel predictive model for the efficacy of moxibustion in rheumatoid arthritis treatment. It underscores the potential of integrating traditional medicine insights with advanced technology to enhance therapeutic strategies in pharmacology.

Quantitative analysis of the impurities in Etimicin using hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography coupled with charged aerosol detector

Etimicin is a typical aminoglycoside antibiotic (AG). High performance liquid chromatography-evaporation light scattering detector (HPLC-ELSD) method is a commonly used method for determining impurities in Etimicin. However, due to the poor reproducibility, low sensitivity and narrow linear range of the ELSD, high-throughput quantitative analysis of impurities in Etimicin currently poses a challenge. In this study, a sensitive method using hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography coupled with charged aerosol detector (HILIC-CAD) was developed for the analysis of the impurities in Etimicin. The liquid phase conditions for determination impurities in Etimicin were optimized using Box Behnken design (BBD) and response surface methodology (RSM), resulting in satisfactory separation and optimal CAD output signal. We also studied the influence of CAD parameters on the signal-to-noise ratio and linearity of Etimicin and its impurities. This method has also been proven to be effective in separating impurities from two other typical AGs, Isepamicin and Amikacin. In the method validation, the coefficient of determination (R2) of Etimicin, Isepamicin and Amikacin and their impurities were all greater than 0.999, within the range of 0.5–50 μg/mL. The average recoveries of the impurities of three typical AGs were 99.03 %-101.22 %, RSDs all were less than 2.5 % for intra-day and inter-day precision, with good precision and accuracy. The developed HILIC-CAD quantification method was sensitive, accurate and highly selective for quantitative analysis of impurities in the AGs without need ion-pairing reagents, which is ensure the public medication safety. The method is first reported application of HILIC-CAD method for quantitative analysis of the impurities in AGs.

External Financial Flows and Domestic Credit Volatility Effect on Industrialization in Selected African Countries

Countries all over the world focus on industrialization as a foundation for rapid economic development and unemployment reduction. Without stable external and domestic finance, we cannot achieve this goal. Financial volatility has an impact on a country’s industrialization process. The aim of this study is to determine how external and domestic credit volatility affect industrialization in Africa. Data for some selected countries for 1992–2020 was used. The author used the Prais-Winsten regression method with Panel Corrected Standard Errors (PCSE) to estimate and analyze the model. Descriptive and quantitative methods of analysis were also used to analyze the long-balanced panel data set for the 17 selected African countries with available data. The results showed a combination of positive and negative effects of financial volatility on industrialization in Africa. The study concludes that domestic credit volatility has adversely affected industrialization in Africa and recommends the development of financial institutions on the continent through recapitalization, skilled manpower development and innovative development of different financial instruments.

Social Media Users’ Engagement with Fear Appeal Elements in Government’s Health Crisis Communication via State-Owned Media

Government health messaging is significant to the containment of public health crises. Such communication may benefit from using fear appeal, a message strategy for promoting health and preventing diseases. Yet little scholarly attention has been paid to how fear appeal is employed in government messaging to promote social media engagement through online actions including likes, shares, and comments. These actions play a meaningful role in addressing communication exigencies within the context of health crises. In this study, quantitative content analysis and corpus linguistics methods were employed to analyze fear appeal-related elements in COVID-19 messages sent by a state-owned media outlet on social media. The results show that when compared to messages without threat, messages conveying threat elicited significantly more comments, in which emotions and perceptions to threat and efficacy were exhibited, while messages containing both threat and efficacy generated more engagement in comparison to messages with threat alone. Moreover, while subdimensions under efficacy were positive predictors of engagement, those under threat were primarily found to have exerted negative effects. The findings provide insights into how fear appeal elements can be employed in government health crisis communication to engage the public.

A comparative study of technological pedagogical content knowledge between special education and general education in China

ABSTRACT This study examined the technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) profiles of teachers at special education schools for the blind and at general elementary schools in China. A total of 113 teachers in special schools and 193 teachers in general elementary schools were enrolled. A questionnaire was used as a quantitative method of data collection and analysis. The modified scale is appropriate for this investigation and has great reliability and validity. The results revealed that, regarding each dimension of TPACK, the competence of the general school teachers was significantly superior to that of the teachers in special schools. Data showed that most pathways to TPACK as proposed were supported, but there were some differences between the two groups of teachers. This study hopes to contribute some insight regarding the assistive technology application in curriculum teaching and design for teachers both at special schools and at general schools.

Predicting tactile sensory attributes of personal care emulsions based on instrumental characterizations: A review.

Emulsions in the form of creams, lotions, gels or foams are the most widely used personal care formulations to improve the condition and feel of the skin. Achieving an optimal balance between their performance, effectiveness and sensory profile is essential, with the sensory profile being a key factor in consumer satisfaction and the success of these products in the market. Well-established methods using highly trained and semi-trained panels (e.g. Spectrum descriptive analysis, Flash Profile method, Quantitative Descriptive Analysis method and 'Check-all-that-apply') are available and commonly used for the sensory assessment of personal care products. Nevertheless, a common drawback among all these methods is their inherent cost, both in terms of financial resources and time requirements. In recent years, research studies have emerged to address this limitation by investigating potential correlations between tactile sensory attributes and instrumental data associated with the physical characteristics of topical formulations. In other words, significant efforts have been invested in the development of robust instrumental methods specifically designed to accurately predict the sensory description that a panel of assessors could establish. These methods are not only faster, cheaper and more objective compared to traditional sensory testing, but they can also be applied to formulations that have not undergone extensive safety and toxicological testing. This review summarizes the most relevant findings, trends and current challenges in predicting tactile sensory attributes of personal care emulsions based on instrumental parameters.

The aim of this research is to determine the diameter increment and height increment, growth and development of Samama Plants (Anthocepalus marcophyllus) as well as environmental factors that influence the growth of Samama Plants (Anthocepalus marcophyllus). This research was carried out in Block III of Samama Plants (Anthocepalus marcophyllus) in the Seed Source Demonstration Plot in Hatusua Village, Kairatu District, West Seram Regency. Initial data was taken in January 2022 and continued with final data collection in July 2022. This research uses a quantitative analysis method by calculating the Average Annual Increment (MAI), current annual increment (CAI) and analysis simple regression. The results of further research show that the growth of Samama (AnthocepHalus marcopHyllus) plants in the seed source demonstration plot of Hatusua village, West Seram Regency with a Current Annual Rate (CAI) diameter in 2022 is 1.2 (cm/tnm/yr) and an average annual increase (MAI) diameter is 3.05 (cm/tnm/yr), current annual increment (CAI) is high, namely 1.77 (m/tnm/yr) and average annual increment (MAI) is high, namely 2.93 (m /tnm/yr). The development of the Samama plant in measurements in 2022, the walnut plant has developed. From the results of research in 2022, the growth of the Samama plant is at the pole and tree level. There are 8 trees on the pole with diameters ranging from 14.5 – 20.

A Study on The Translation Strategies of Culture-Loaded Words in the English Translation

The term “culture-loaded words” is a sign of national culture, which means that the distinctive national culture is directly or indirectly reflected in the language vocabulary. The purpose of this paper is to examine and analyze the characteristics of the translation strategies used by Howard Goldblatt in his translation The Song of King Gesar, which reflects the unique culture of Chinese ethnic minorities, in order to provide a academic perspective combining qualitative and quantitative research on the translation strategies of culture-loaded words, so as to make a modest contribution to the promotion of linguistic and cultural exchanges between China and the West. According to Nida’s classification criteria of cultural types, culture-loaded words can be divided into five major categories: “economic culture-loaded word, material culture-loaded word, social culture-loaded word, religious culture-loaded word, linguistic culture-loaded word”. At present, most of the studies on the translation methods of culture-loaded words adopt the method of qualitative research, namely analyzing the translation methods of individual translation cases in the research object according to the theory. Therefore, this paper adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis methods to study the culture-loaded words in The Song of King Gesar based on the corpus.

Confronting the effects of climate change through development plans

In recent years, climate change as a consequence of global warming, has garnered significant attention. Therefore, serious measures must be considered in the development planning process to adapt to and reduce effects of climate change. This research evaluates six development plans in Isfahan, Iran in the face of climate change effects using a framework consisting of three components of the analytical Awareness-Analysis-Action (A-A-A) approach and using quantitative and qualitative content analysis methods. In fact, the evaluation of the level of attention of the development plans from the perspective of the level of reflection and attention to raising awareness about the issues of climate change, the ability to analyze the available climate information in a useful way to support planning decisions and the level of special actions to deal with these changes. Finally, out of the three elements of the approach, the highest amount of attention in the plans is related to the element of action with 67/70% and the lowest is related to the element of awareness with 39/10%. The overall evaluation of the development plans shows that their role in integrating climate change issues into urban planning in Iran is still limited and insufficient. On the other hand, air pollution and climate change are closely related, as chemicals that cause air quality deterioration often enter together with greenhouse gases. Therefore, it can be said that although indicators of the transportation dimension (A3-J) with 80.66%, resource management have been given special attention under the action component, but carbon sequestration dimension (A2-F) with 14.63%, under the analysis component that seeks to evaluate the amount of air pollutants, classification of the type and sources of emission of pollutants could not reflect more than half of the total percentage in all development plans.

Penalization and Color Code-Technical Approaches for Methods' Greenness and Whiteness Appraisal in Veterinary Medication: Assay of Toltrazuril Suspension.

Intestinal coccidiosis is a debilitating disease in poultry and livestock, leading to economic impact worldwide. Coccidiosis is prevented and treated in broilers by the inclusion of anticoccidials in feed. Toltrazuril is administered in potable water to treat coccidiosis. Three robust analytical methods for quantitation of toltrazuril in pure and pharmaceutical formulations are developed. Furthermore, ecological metrics; either penalization- or color-code-based techniques are applied for the appraisal of assays. Firstly, Second-Derivative (Δλ; 5 nm) spectrophotometric method; Toltrazuril is measured from peak to peak at 244-260 nm within a linearity range of 5-25 μg/mL. The second one is a high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) analysis performed on an aluminum sheet of silica gel using ethyl acetate, methanol, ammonium chloride buffer, and water (8:1:0.5:0.5) (%V/V) as the elution phase. Toltrazuril, at a retardation factor of 0.66 ± 0.01, is linearly determined in the range of 1-9 μg/spot at 243 nm. The third one is Reversed Phase-HPLC-diode array detection, using Agilent column C18 (5 μm, 4.6 x 150 mm) in isocratic elution mode with a mobile phase of acetonitrile and water in a ratio of 80:20 (v/v), respectively, at 1 mL/min flow rate. Toltrazuril elutes at a retention time of 2.58 ± 0.1 min and is linearly determined at 243 nm in the range of 0.25-25 μg/mL. Calculated 2D-values and peak areas are highly correlated to their corresponding drug concentrations at coefficients; r > 0.999. All methods were ICH validated and applied to dosage form with satisfactory % recoveries (97-103%). Statistical comparisons reported one using t-test and F-test disclose insignificant variation. Examining greenness and whiteness norms, proposed methods were evaluated and ranked alongside four different reported methods. The proposed methods are green, accurate, and can be applied in routine quality control for the determination of toltrazuril in pharmaceutical formulations.

Problems and Prospects for the Development of Cluster Structuring in the Economy of Kazakhstan’s Agricultural Sector: Theory and Practice

This article discusses the issues of cluster policy formation in the Republic of Kazakhstan on the basis of studying the experience of leading countries. The research aim is to find new effective tools and institutions for the development of the cluster structuring of the agro-industrial complex economy of Kazakhstan. Cluster policy in the field of supporting regional clusters starts with the identification of already existing clusters in the region, because by viewing the regional economy through the prism of various local industries and innovative enterprises, regional authorities can identify measures of effective impact and support for their clusters. This research examines the possibilities of using clusters and cluster policy as one of the most important components of the policy for the development and support of small and medium-sized enterprises in Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial complex. The research methodology includes qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods, comparative analysis, and mathematical processing (the Pearson correlation coefficient), as well as the modeling of possible development scenarios. The obtained results show that there are significant opportunities for a wider involvement of small and medium-sized enterprises in the formation of cluster structures of the agro-industrial sector through joint efforts by the government and regional centers in the conditions of innovative development of the country’s economy.

Research on Power Cyber-Physical Cross-Domain Attack Paths Based on Graph Knowledge

Against the background of the construction of new power systems, power generation, transmission, distribution, and dispatching services are open to the outside world for interaction, and the accessibility of attack paths has been significantly enhanced. We are facing cyber-physical cross-domain attacks with the characteristics of strong targeting, high concealment, and cross-space threats. This paper proposes a quantitative analysis method for the influence of power cyber-physical cross-domain attack paths based on graph knowledge. First, a layered attack graph was constructed based on the cross-space and strong coupling characteristics of the power cyber-physical system business and the vertical architecture of network security protection focusing on border protection. The attack graph included cyber-physical cross-domain attacks, control master stations, measurement and control equipment failures, transient stable node disturbances, and other vertices, and achieved a comprehensive depiction of the attack path. Second, the out-degree, in-degree, vertex betweenness, etc., of each vertex in the attack graph were comprehensively considered to calculate the vertex vulnerability, and by defining the cyber-physical coupling degree and edge weights, the risk of each attack path was analyzed in detail. Finally, the IEEE RTS79 and RTS96 node systems were selected, and the impact of risk conduction on the cascading failures of the physical space system under typical attack paths was analyzed using examples, verifying the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Individual income tax in the context of achieving social justice

Purpose of the research is to assess the current practice of individual income tax, to justify the need to replace the proportional rate with a progressive scale. Methodology – the theoretical and methodological basis of the research is based on the principles of a systematic approach and methods of comparative, quantitative and qualitative analysis and economic and statistical data processing. Originality / value of the research – a feature of the study is the scientifi c justification of the expediency of introducing a progressive scale for individual income tax, the development of an author's scale of rates based on economic and mathematical calculations. The results of the research show that the current practice of calculating individual income tax in the republic requires adjustments and the introduction of a progressive scale replacing the current single rate of 10 %. The introduction of a progressive scale will contribute to reducing social risks, leveling social inequality and increasing tax revenues to the budget.

The influence of sales growth and capital intensity on tax aggressiveness with inventory intensity as a moderating variabel

This research aims to empirically prove the influence of sales growth and capital intensity on tax aggressiveness, with inventory intensity as a moderating variable. The independent variables used in this research are sales growth and capital intensity, while the dependent variable is tax aggressiveness, and inventory intensity serves as the moderating variable. The population of this research consists of Consumers Non-Cylicals sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2018 to 2022. The sample selection method is purposive sampling, yielding 12 companies or 60 observation samples. The data used are secondary data in the form of audited annual financial statements of each company. This research use Quantitative data analysis methods and associative problem formulation methods with causal relationships are used with the aid of E-views 12 software. The results indicate that sales growth and capital intensity simultaneously effect on tax aggressiveness. Partially, sales growth has a effect on tax aggressiveness, while capital intensity does not have a effect on tax aggressiviness. Additionally, the results indicate that inventory intensity does not moderate (weaken) the effect of sales growth on tax aggressiveness, nor does it moderate (weaken) the effect of capital intensity on tax aggressiveness.

The Extent of Implementation and Influence of Boys and Girls Brigade Philippines (BGBP) Programs

This study examines the extent of implementation and influence of the Boys and Girls Brigade Philippines (BGBP) programs. Its objectives are twofold: first, to assess the extent of implementation of its programs and determine their impact on its recipients; and second, to introduce a quality program for other institutions to adopt in addressing current societal challenges and preparing students for the VUCA world. The research employs a descriptive comparative design, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods. The quantitative data analysis used mean scores, frequency count, Kruskal-Wallis H Test, and Post-Hoc Analysis (Dwass-Steel-Critchlow-Fligner Pairwise Comparison). Qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The study involved 144 respondents, including administrators, teachers, students, and alumni of BGBP. Key findings reveal that all the BGBP programs are highly implemented. Also, all the BGBP programs are highly influential. There is a highly significant difference in the perception of administrators, teachers, and students on the implementation and influence of the programs. The program offers numerous benefits, such as spiritual growth, learning to live and lead for Christ, and developing leadership skills. Challenges faced include leadership issues, financial constraints, inconsistency in implementation, students’ attitudes, and parental support. To enhance the program, recommendations include strengthening the set standard, elevating the mentoring system, reinforcing parental involvement, and seeking financial support. Additionally, policymakers and curriculum makers may consider adopting BGBP as a benchmark, as it addresses current challenges and prepares students for the rapidly changing world.
