Among Inorganic compounds specifically, transition metals are playing vital role for the development of new metal-based drugs. In this review it is discussed that how the different transition metal chelates and their nanoparticles can be synthesized using green chemistry. These transition metal chelates can be synthesized using transition metals like platinum, palladium, silver etc. along with some heterocyclic compounds like pyridine, anthracene and other synthetic or natural ligands. Transition metal complexes show variable electronic configuration and can interact with biological system as well. Due to these properties transition metal form chelates and can be used as drugs and founds application in pharmacological sector. Some anticancer drugs like cisplatin, oxaliplatin and carboplatin (which are compounds of platinum) may offer wide range of opportunities in the treatment of diseases other than cancer. They are used for the treatment of variety of diseases like ulcer, inflammatory diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and rheumatoid arthritis. Many plant extracts like soybean extract, aloevera extract or some phytoconstituents like curcumin act as ligands and some Schiff bases also used to form transition metal chelates.
