The Impact of Long Term Relationship, Process Integration, Cooperation On Supply Chain Management Performance And Competitive Advantage

This research is conducted on Small and Medium Industries of Gumelem Coconut Sugarlocated in Gumelem, Susukan Subdistrict, Banjarnegara Regency. This study takes the title:"The Influence of Long Term Relationship, Process Integration, Cooperation on SupplyChain Management Performance and Its Impact on Competitive Advantage (Study onGumMem Coconut Sugar IKM)". The purpose of this study was to determine the effect oflong term relationships, process integration, cooperation on supply chain managementperformance and its effect on competitive advantage. The population in this study were allsmall and medium-sized industries of coconut sugar gumelem in Gumelem Kulon. Thenumber of respondents taken in this study were 71 respondents. Sample Randon Samplingis used in determining this respondent. Based on the results of research and analysis ofdata using Multiple Regression Analysis and Simple Regression Analysis shows that: (1)Long term relationships have a positive effect on supply chain management performance,(2) Process integration has a positive effect on supply chain management performance, (3)Cooperation has an effect positive for supply chain management performance, (4) Supplychain management performance has a positive effect on competitive advantage. Theimplications of the above conclusions are in an effort to increase customer satisfaction, theproducers should pay attention to various policies relating to long term relationships,process integration, cooperation. The efforts made are to improve the supply chainmanagement performance in full in accordance with the needs, policies, trust, cooperationrelated to customer satisfaction of coconut sugar gumelem. And also in order to maintaintight competition in the industrial world, companies must improve supply chain managementperformance.

Leaching characteristics of biomass ash-based binder in neutral and acidic media

Biomass ash results from the combustion of agricultural residues, which, in many developing countries, are a primary source of power generation for small and medium size industries. This study focuses on the performance of a binder synthesized from an Indian biomass ash, Indo-Gangetic clay, hydrated lime, and aqueous 1M NaOH solution. To measure the extent of leaching and its impact on physicochemical properties, the biomass ash binder in powder form (<45 μm size) was exposed to two different leaching media: deionized water and 0.1M HNO3 at two different solution-to-sample ratios (by wt.) of 10 and 100. Sodium leaching was found to be prominent in the biomass ash binder irrespective of leaching medium and solution-to-sample ratio. However, calcium leaching was significantly higher in 0.1M HNO3 than in deionized water. Calcium silicate hydrate present in the biomass ash binder was found to be less chemically stable in 0.1M HNO3, exhibiting complete calcium leaching at a solution-to-sample ratio of 100. Furthermore, significant leaching of calcium in 0.1M HNO3 solution resulted in phase modification of calcium silicate hydrate, the main reaction product of the biomass ash binder.

Accordingly, the establishment and expansion of research and development systems in order to infuse new sciences and technologies into this industry is of great importance. Over the past few decades, in a highly competitive market, the development of new products has long been considered as a major contributing factor to the survival and growth of SMEs and manufacturing units and economic enterprises have a great desire to create and develop R &amp; D and investment systems for their efficiency so the necessity of conducting this research was created for Iranian companies because SMEs are considered as engines of economic growth, particularly in developing countries and in a day-to-day market for freedom, the survival and continuity of SMEs depend on their ability to enhance their performance and production that are in accordance with international standards. The questionnaires and interviews used to examine the research questions. It was distributed among 114 experts after ensuring the reliability and validity. The research strategy is a survey-correlation questionnaire that has been compiled by a researcher-made questionnaire. The results of this study showed that the technology structure in virtual teams does not directly affect the implementation of virtual R &amp; D. The knowledge structure of the individuals and the process structure can have a direct effect on the implementation of virtual R &amp; D in the other hand this paper acknowledges the progress made over the past several decades, it focuses on the challenges and limits of Iranian Tile and Ceramic Companies. IMPROVING FINANCIAL MARKETING AND ACCOUNTABILITY WITH TECHNOLOGY PENETRATION FOR THE BAG SMEs COMMUNITY IN GRESIK, JAWA TIMUR

Micro and small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) contribute greatly to economic growth in East Java. Around 53.4% of economic growth comes from MSMEs, most of which are handicraft industries, one of which is a bag and wallet craftsman (Disperindag East Java, 2016). In its development, MSMEs often experience obstacles in adopting a new technology. Gresik is not only known as an industrial area in East Java, but also has a large potential for MSMEs, one of which is bag craftsmen at Ds. Bedilan, Gresik. In line with government programs related to the development of small and medium-sized industries, this community service activity tries to develop capabilities and technology transfer between universities and the community. As a partner in this service activity is a bag craftsman community which is a micro-scale industry. The main problem raised in this activity is the development of marketing by using information technology and improving financial accountability. In the financial problems that often occur in partners is the frequent mix of cash flow of business units with personal and accounts receivable that are often uncollectible. From the results of this activity it can be concluded that partners have a desire to use good technology, but still have not provided positive results for the perception of ease of use.

INDUSTRY OF KUBAN: EXPERIENCE IN MANAGEMENT AND CONSTRUCTION IN THE EARLY 20-ies OF THE 20-th CENTURY

The article describes the conditions and nature of the transfer of the Kuban industry from the policy of “war communism” to the new economic policy. The economy was based on medium-sized and small-scale industries. Large enterprises were either closed or were on the verge of closure due to the Civil war, the General decline of the economy and the rupture of economic ties. Under these conditions, the creation of a system of trusts and the transfer of small and large parts of mediumsized enterprises to private hands, as required by the party and government, the transition to the NEP were not implemented. The created trusts included medium and small enterprises that provided economic stability to associations. Established during the Civil war, the administrative and managerial apparatus has been eliminated. Certain restrictions were imposed on the phraseology, slogans, that is, in fact, external manifestations of direct and strict leadership,” command “ of the industry. The administrative apparatus has not lost the levers of direct administrative management in the economy. Maintaining direct management over the trusts described actively fighting the existing administrative-command system for their survival. Once established, the system gradually regains its right to manage the entire economy. Following some democratization of government and the weakening of the dictatorship of the state over the economy, the methods of military communism once again became leading. But this will happen after the industry and the economy as a whole will be restored, thanks to the use of market methods of management.

Profitability of a solar water heating system with evacuated tube collector in the meat industry

Abstract The meat sector generates millions of jobs and billions of euros in value-added every year. The meat industries have a high demand for hot water, very variable in temperature, volume required and time interval. This demand, with large volumes at temperatures above 80 °C, translates into significant energy bills and CO2 emitted to the atmosphere, given the limited use of renewable energy. The present study, adapted to the unique demand of meat industries, shows that the use of Solar Water Heating Systems (SWHS) with evacuated tube collector can be profitable in a large number of locations and scenarios in Europe. The type of energy supply in the industry, together with the large differences in the price of energy sources in each country, drastically affect the size of solar installations, the reduction in annual energy consumption and the savings generated. In a medium-sized industry with energy demand close to 85000 kWh/year, investing in a SWHS in locations of high irradiation can reach profitability values of € 1.1 per € invested, paybacks under 9 years, supply of more than 50% of the energy needed, reduction of the annual energy bill over 40% and reduction of CO2 emissions higher than 15000 kgCO2/year.

Energy end-use and efficiency potentials among Swedish industrial small and medium-sized enterprises – A dataset analysis from the national energy audit program

Improving energy efficiency in industry is recognized as one of the most vital activities for the mitigation of climate change. Consequently, policy initiatives from governments addressing both energy-intensive and small and medium-sized industry have been enacted. In this paper, the energy end-use and the energy efficiency potential among industrial small and medium-sized companies participating in the Swedish Energy Audit Program are reviewed. The three manufacturing industries of wood and cork, food products and metal products (excluding machinery and equipment) are studied. A unique categorization of their production processes’ energy end-use is presented, the results of which show that the amount of energy used in various categories of production processes differ between these industries. This applies to support processes as well, highlighting the problem of generalizing results without available bottom-up energy end-use data. In addition, a calculation of conservation supply curves for measures related to production processes is presented, showing that there still remains energy saving potential among companies participating in the Swedish Energy Audit Program. However, relevant data in the database used from the Swedish Energy Audit Program is lacking which limits the conclusions that can be drawn from the conservation supply curves. This study highlights the need to develop energy policy programs delivering high-quality data.This paper contributes to a further understanding of the intricate matters of industrial energy end-use and energy efficiency measures.

Microgrid Architecture Evaluation for Small and Medium Size Industries

AbstractThe content of this paper addresses possible approaches that will eventually allow the development of microgrids for small and medium size industries on a massive scale. Therefore, it addresses in a comprehensive way, the most suitable communication technologies for microgrids in this type of enterprises. Several energy sources that can be implemented in industrial microgrids are also briefly addressed, including generation and storage units frequently adopted for power supply in small scale distribution grids. The overview of communication technologies and energy sources takes into account the financial limitations of small enterprises with the purpose of assisting the study of industrial microgrid architectures. In addition, a case study is presented in order to observe how a centralized and a decentralized deployment of energy sources affect the performance of a small or medium scale industrial microgrid. Since this sector is very important for the development of modern societies, it should make use of the most advanced infrastructures in order to be more sustainable, both environmentally and competitively. The practical limitations applied to industrial microgrids (e.g., lack of standards in the grid codes, some unfit technological performance and amiss system design) shows that the subject presented in this paper deserves much more research and developments. Thus, this work demonstrates the importance of the development of the microgrid for the small and medium-sized enterprises sector.

The Task of Machine Tool Operators in Small and Medium Enterprises in Indonesia

The needs of operators for each type of industry are different because the type and the complexity of the task is different. Small and medium-sized industries require machine operators with better capabilities than operators in large companies, thus it is necessary to identify what tasks are performed by these operators. This study aim at (1) identifying duties of machine tool operators in small and medium enterprises, and (2) identifying tasks carried out by machine tool operators in small and medium enterprises. This study used a descriptive research method. The participants were eight machine tool operators from five small and medium enterprises in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The data collection used document review, observation, questionnaires and focus group discussions. The data were analysed using descriptive analysis. The results of the study were (1) five duties done by machine tool operators are identified (maintaining safe work environment, maintaining the machine tools, analyzing the blueprint, performing machining operations, cleaning the machines and the workplace), and (2) twenty seven tasks executed by machine tool operators are identified; twenty-two knowledge and skills, seventeen behaviors, and eighteen machines, tools and equipment required by machine operators.

Tit for tat: burnout as a mediator between workplace incivility and instigated workplace incivility

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to investigate the role of burnout as a mediator in the relationship between workplace incivility (WI) and instigated WI.Design/methodology/approachA survey of 303 white collar employees from small- to medium-size industries in Australia was conducted. Self-reported measures were used to obtain data on WI, burnout, and instigated WI. Mediation analyses with bootstrap via PROCESS was used ascertain the proposed relationship.FindingsResults indicated that WI was positively linked to instigated WI. Importantly, results indicated that burnout fully mediated the relationship between WI and instigated WI.Research limitations/implicationsThe correlational and self-report nature of the study exclude inference about causality between variables and may be more prone to bias. However, despite these limitations, pre- and post-cautionary steps were taken to ensure that these biases were kept at bay as much as is possible.Practical implicationsThe study highlights that burnout may be an important underlying mechanism responsible for target’s and perpetrator’s uncivil relationships toward each other. Management should be cognizant of possible burnout among employees who experienced WI and to take appropriate training as preventive measures for WI.Originality/valueThis study responded to the call for more empirical investigation of WI. This study also integrated conservation of resources and the spiral of incivility theories to develop a theoretical model which linked WI to instigated WI.

Ubiquitous Materials for the Logistic Information System

Modern identification technologies such as radio-frequency identification, or RFID, have become increasingly important for streamlining production and logistics operations in almost every industry. In steel industrial enterprise, there is many logistic information which is still collected manually. It brings out many disadvantages such as inaccurate logistics information, irregular logistics, be lasted feedback and so on. In this paper, presents the feasibility of deploying RFID for the steel industry as a tool to reduce the production costs. Steel industry that is applicable to RFID-based tracking management system is proposed. And basically small and medium-sized steel industries, reflecting the characteristics of the building systems and by allowing for faster application time, while minimizing the capital investment.

Designing Quality Management Systems For Thresher Production Using ISO 9001-2015

CV Citra Dragon is a small and medium-sized industry that produces agricultural machine tools wich is located in Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra. CV Citra Dragon has been active in production since 1976 and has the potential to increase the production of alsintan in order to compete in and outside the country. Therefore, CV Citra Dragon needs to improve the quality of the products produced. The best way to recognize the product quality is by implementing the Quality Management System (QMS). QMS of CV Citra Dragon is necessary to expand to other products which is thresher machine. The research based on ISO 9001-2015 standards. The design of QMS on CV Citra Dragon was done through field survey. Documents made on thresher production units are two compulsory and mandatory records, working procedures on thresher production, as well as working instructions and recording forms required. Once a quality document has been created, the analysis was performed by comparing the pre-existing QMS with the most recent QMS tailored to ISO 9001-2015. Therefore, some documents must be obtained by ISO 9001-2015 in accordance with the QMS used CV Citra Dragon was based on the main process approach. The results of documents that have been verified by the company are the scope of the QMS, quality policy, quality objectives, criteria for evaluation and selection of suppliers, product realization planning records, design and development records, product review, and monitoring records and measurement results. An Analysis on the Critical Parameters Influencing Sustainability for Agri Business Industry: A Systematic Review and Conceptual Frame Work

In India the MSME sector inhabits the second position in terms of employment generation. In this context Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) have considerably contributed to the fiscal progress of our country. The development of the MSME sector is exceptionally important, as it holds the key to ample growth and plays a crucial role in comprehensive growth of our country. The aim of this paper is to review the literature on sustainability of small business so as to identify the influencing parameters which are responsible for the long term sustainability of small business. This paper further aims to develop a Conceptual Framework for Business Sustainability in Agri Business sector. Various Scopus indexed journal articles from the year 2010 to 2017 were considered for literature review. Based on the literature survey and gap identified, the framework includes the three independent parameters such as Entrepreneurial Competency (EC), Business Model (BM), Innovation and Technology (IT). Hence from the summary of literature survey it was identified that, the collective contribution of EC, BM and IT leads to Business Sustainability (BS) of Small Agri Engineering Manufacturing Companies. Hence the measurability for the sustainability of the Agribusiness is developed through conceptual framework via three parameters namely EC, BM, IT. The outcome of the above study is expected to identify the, challenges faced by the small and medium size industries in the Agri Engineering sector for future sustainability.

Safety index: a systematic approach to measure the level of occupational safety in manufacturing industry

Despite the advancement in technology, workplace safety in the industry still needs improvements. This study aimed to develop a new safety index, termed as occupational safety evaluation approach (OSEA) index, by using Delphi method. This approach considered 40 factors that were validated with content validity index (CVI). The ideal value of OSEA obtained is 21.07, which is further used for evaluating and mapping the current level of occupational safety of workers in medium-sized iron and steel manufacturing industry. In order to estimate OSEA, a questionnaire-based survey was conducted in 30 medium sized manufacturing industries (MSMI) of Punjab. The results revealed that the OSEA index of MSMI lies in the range of 8.90-17.79. Moreover, it is concluded that OSEA index is a useful tool to measure the existing level of occupational safety of workers in the industry, which can be implemented to assess the level of workplace safety.

DESAIN PRODUK MAKANAN LOKAL BERBASIS INDUSTRI KECIL MENENGAH

Increasing the number of local food businesses in the form of products that are worth selling the industry isincreasing in quantity and quality. Bogor is one of the tourist destinations with local food identity. Thereforethe research has purposes (1). Describe the visual communication design of food label of small and mediumindustry circulating in Bogor city. (2). Describe the aspects of small and medium industry food labels thathave been adopted by small and medium-sized industries. (3). Analyze consumer buying interest in small andmedium industries. The research method uses a qualitative approach where the analysis used is the case andthe semantics of the product are visually observed. The results show that the local product has a culturalaesthetic value that is able to lift tourism by generating visual communication design, by showing the labelinformation aspects of the production contained on the packaging. It can be able to attribute tourist visits inconsuming local products by improving the quality of packaging product design.

CLEANER PRODUCTION IMPLEMENTATION IN THE TEXTILE SECTOR: THE CASE OF A MEDIUM-SIZED INDUSTRY IN MINAS GERAIS

Textile industries have been increasingly adopting cleaner production strategies, particularly in developed countries. In Brazil and globally, there are arguably few publications addressing this phenomenon. This study aimed at understanding the extent to which industries from textile sector implement cleaner production strategies, based on the empirical analysis of a particular medium-sized industry in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. A checklist of cleaner production opportunities, drawn from the literature, was analyzed in the context of the selected industry. Data were collected through interviews and field surveys. This study identified cleaner production opportunities for textiles industries and pointed out a number most viable actions. The study also identified that cleaner production can work as an effective environmental management framework for medium-sized industries. However, depending on the particular aspects of each industry, cleaner production actions may be perceived as technically and economically unviable. In the particular case study, the most implemented actions were those that required lower investments and that were not technically demanding. Results suggest that cleaner production can drive proactive environmental efforts, resulting in technological and economic benefits. However, results also suggest that such benefits may not be easily obtained, particularly in the context of industries with out-of-date technological processes.

Aggregate Production Planning, Casestudy in a Medium-sized Industry of the Rubber Production Line in Ecuador.

This research aims to improve the productivity in the rubber line of a medium-sized industry by increasing the production capacities through the use of the Aggregate Production Planning model. For this purpose an analysis of the production processes of the line was made and the aggregate plan was defined evaluating two strategies: Exact Production Plan (Zero Inventory) and Constant Workforce Plan (Vary Inventory) by studying the costs of both inventory maintenance and workforce. It was also determined how the installed capacity was used with the standards of the rubber line and measures for decreasing production costs were proposed. It was proven that only 70% of the plant capacity was being used so it could be possible to produce more units and to obtain a bigger market for the products of this line.+

Comparative study of adsorptive removal of Cr(VI) ion from aqueous solution in fixed bed column by peanut shell and almond shell using empirical models and ANN.

Cr(VI) is a toxic water pollutant, which causes cancer and mutation in living organisms. Adsorption has become the most preferred method for removal of Cr(VI) due to its high efficiency and low cost. Peanut and almond shells were used as adsorbents in downflow fixed bed continuous column operation for Cr(VI) removal. The experiments were carried out to scrutinise the adsorptive capacity of the peanut shells and almond shells, as well as to find out the effect of various operating parameters such as column bed depth (5-10 cm), influent flow rate (10-22 ml min-1) and influent Cr(VI) concentration (10-20 mg L-1) on the Cr(VI) removal. The fixed bed column operation for Cr(VI) adsorption the equilibrium was illustrated by Langmuir isotherm. Different well-known mathematical models were applied to the experimental data to identify the best-fitted model to explain the bed dynamics. Prediction of the bed dynamics by Yan et al. model was found to be satisfactory. Applicability of artificial neural network (ANN) modelling is also reported. An ANN modelling of multilayer perceptron with gradient descent and Levenberg-Marquardt algorithms have also been tried to predict the percentage removal of Cr(VI). This study indicates that these adsorbents have an excellent potential and are useful for water treatment particularly small- and medium-sized industries of third world countries. Almond shell represents better adsorptive capacity as breakthrough time and exhaustion time are longer in comparison to peanut shell.
