The author of this well-known text in veterinary parasitology has expanded the usefulness of the 6th edition by adding a section on the protozoan parasites of domesticated animals. Now one text is available to students and instructors covering the important aspects of veterinary parasitology in a concise, well-printed and well-illustrated edition that in the past has proved adaptable to classroom and reference use in the laboratory phase of a course. The introduction of this edition is much reduced compared with that of the 5th edition, in which definitions and principles were elucidated before the student studied individual parasites. Accordingly, the instructor using the 6th edition will have to acquaint the students carefully with terminology, as the student will experience difficulty in appreciating the text and in clarifying precise meanings of terminology in parasitology.
