Co-Simulation Based Multi-Chip Module Design Flow and Wi-Fi Module Example with Integrated BAW and LNA

Abstract This paper discusses an improved design flow for hybrid Multi-Chip Modules comprising of MMICs and other components. A full 3D electromagnetic co-simulation flow is proposed. Application of such a flow is demonstrated with an MCM receiver module which has a bulk acoustic wave pre-filter, a Low Noise Amplifier with a digital bypass function, and a classical 6th order filter implemented with discrete components. Detailed simulation data is provided on each component of the system and the final MCM module, that demonstrates the use of the design flow. Finally, simulation results are compared to measured data from fabricated modules to prove the validity of our design approach

A 15–22 Gbps Serial Link in 28 nm CMOS With Direct DFE

A half-duplex serial link design that is capable of 22 Gbps operation over PCB channels with up to 20 dB of loss is presented. A current-mode transmitter can be configured either as a pre-cursor or post-cursor 2-tap FIR filter. The receiver consists of a trans-admittance-trans-impedance single-stage linear equalizer that can provide 10 dB of high-frequency gain without the use of peaking inductors. The CTLE is followed by an half-rate 2-tap decision feedback equalizer with direct feedback. To mitigate long-tail intersymbol interference in a power-efficient manner, a third DFE tap employs a single-pole IIR filter. A 15-22 GHz LC-PLL provides quadrature clocks to a 16-lane macro. The 16-lane macro occupies 1.66 mm × 1.6 mm in a 28 nm CMOS process and is packaged in a 45 mm × 45 mm flip-chip MCM module. The link operates from two power supplies at 1.35 V and 0.9 V with a BER and a power efficiency of 6.5 mW/Gbps at 20 Gbps.

Recovering divisor classes via their ( T)-adic filtrations

Continuing the investigation of the canonical map of divisor class groups j ∗ : Cl(B) → Cl( B tB ) , we consider what happens if ker j ∗ is nonzero. The first result gives an injection of Cl( B) into Π n ≥ 1 Cl( B t nB ) , where the definition of class group is extended to include the rings B t nB . We also get an action of ker j ∗ on small MCM B-modules, resulting, in the case of a ring A without DCG and with a small MCM module C, in infinitely many distinct small MCM A[[ T]]-modules lifting C.

On the self-dual maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules

We study the duality for maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules (MCM modules for short) over Cohen-Macaulay local rings. We characterize (low dimensional) rings over which any MCM module is self-dual, and establish a correspondence between the isomorphism classes of a class of self-dual MCM modules (called “orientable” Auslander modules) and the even linkage classes of Gorenstein ideals of height two over Gorenstein normal domains. An application is given to the complete intersection ideals of height two.
