Psychological tests are widely used to assess personality traits and cognitive abilities. However, their potential application in translation studies remains largely unexplored. This overview article aims to compare psychological tests used in identifying personality traits and cognitive abilities that may enhance translators' skills. Personality tests can reveal psychological factors that may be crucial for effective translation. The psychological dimensions are often overlooked despite the acknowledged importance of linguistic and cultural proficiency in translation studies. Emotional responses and personality traits significantly impact translators' decisions and performance, highlighting the need for further research. Implementing tests like the MBTI, DISC, Big Five, and HEXACO Personality Inventory can offer valuable insights. Understanding translators' personality traits can enable strategies for improvement and enhance overall translation outcomes. Bridging the gap in research regarding psychological dimensions is crucial for a comprehensive understanding of translators' behaviors and improving translation quality.

Do you love traveling to the beach or mountain? Predicting personality traits and choice behaviour

ABSTRACT Several personality-predicting tools are being used by managers in their strategic decision-making process. The most common are the Big Five model and the Myers – Myers-Briggs Type Indicator model, respectively. This study deviates and tests a novel personality prediction model. Specifically, it utilizes the TF-IDF (Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency) algorithm as a feature extraction method to map personality traits based on consumers’ textual data from the Kaggle MBTI Personality Type dataset. This study uses realistic data gathered from traveller reviews and comments on hotel stays from TripAdvisor’s widely recognised platform to predict different personality traits and their travel destination preferences, i.e. beach or mountain. The contribution of this study lies in the identification of multiple dimensions of peoples’ personality traits and their relationship with their preferences for travel locations. This proposed trait classification mechanism can assist marketing managers in effectively carrying out customer segmentation, setting realistic goals, and optimizing marketing strategies.

“Person-I” or “Person-E”: A Study on the Difference of Self-Disclosure between Adolescents in Virtual and Realistic Situations from the Perspective of MBTI Personality Test

Recently, teenage users on social media have been keen to evaluate their personality through the MBTI personality test, so as to further understand themselves in the choice of “person-I” or “person-E”. However, in virtual and realistic situations, there are differences in self-disclosure of different teenage users, which need to be analyzed by empirical research. In addition to sorting out adolescents’ differences in the self-disclosure in virtual and realistic situations through questionnaire surveys and interviews, this study also completes an in-depth study on the differences of self-disclosure on the basis of data analysis and content analysis. Moreover, according to examples of the main types of MBTI personality tests, this paper discusses the causes of self-disclosure differences in multiple dimensions such as extroversion and introversion. The research will help deepen the understanding of individual self-disclosure differences among adolescents.

Comparison of Pre-Defined Automatic Machine Learning (AutoML) for MBTI Personality Prediction of Twitter Users using Binary Classification Approach

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality test that is globally accepted and used as a method for identifying personality. MBTI uses a four-factor linear model to characterize a person's behaviour patterns. This feature is often used to pursue career opportunities, make decisions, manage leadership, and deal with stress. In particular, MBTI personality prediction has been widely conducted and well performed using Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) based on Twitter data because it indirectly reveals most of a person's personality through their tweets. However, deep understanding is needed in building RNN-based solutions. Hence it will take a lot of time and resources to produce an excellent model architecture and the parameters used. Therefore, this study proposed the Auto Machine Learning (AutoML) method with a pre-defined search space to determine the correct model architecture and hyperparameters based on the results of data analysis. Thus, the search algorithm can exploit environments with suitable configurations in general. There are two pre-defined search spaces employed in this study, i.e. (i) two RNN algorithms, including Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU), and (ii) pre-trained Word2Ves as word embedding. In addition, this study compares the model's performance that employs preprocessing and raw data (without preprocessing). The first result shows that the preprocessing increases the F1-Score values for LSTM and GRU by 2.35% and 2.02%, respectively. Subsequently, the LSTM outperformed GRU by the values of F1-Score at 0.35% and accuracy at 0.76%. The implementation of LSTM with pre-processed data in pre-defined AutoML with Word2Vec as a word embedding technique can provide good performance on long and complex data sequences such as Twitter data for predicting its user personality.

Exploring the Impact of MBTI Personality Types on Teaching Methods

The importance of personality traits impacting teaching practices is comprehending how teachers at different educational system levels treat learners, develop curricula, adopt applications and technologies, and give feedback. This research studies the influence of the correlation between the MBTI personality types of educators in the University of Swat and their teaching preferences, in addition to identifying educators’ learning style preferences connected to organized and flexible lesson planning, and active and reflective teaching. Under a quantitative research design approach, a structured questionnaire was completed by 50 teachers and associated staff. MBTI was used to determine participants' personality types with the researcher having established a Teaching Preferences Questionnaire to determine the participants’ perception about various teaching and learning styles. The feedback provided was made using a 5-point Likert scale and data analysis was done using SPSS version 27.0. To test the correlation between the various teaching preferences and the MBTI personality types, a set of statistical tools which included independent T-tests, ANOVA, Chi-Square tests, logistic regression, and Pearson correlation test were employed. This study revealed a significant relationship between personality traits and teaching behaviors. Teachers with relatively greater levels of feeling-oriented and intuitive characteristics were observed to adopt a dynamic approach to teaching which involved students incorporated concepts such as teaching involving students and had greater empathy and concern towards students. It was also found that students with certain personality types are more willing to adopt different technologies for enhancing the processes of teaching and learning. The study reveals a profound influence of the personality traits formulated by the MBTI on the choices of educators in teaching and the real methods applied. More specifically, the features of being feeling-oriented, intuitive, and judging predetermine the outlook on approaches to Active Teaching, structured lesson planning, application of technology in the learning process, and feedback methods.

It is applied across diverse fields like career counseling and personal development it fosters collaboration and guiding individuals toward fulfilling career paths. There is growing need to understand how diverse MBTI personality types influence career related decisions and the overall success of employment services. The objectives of the study are to explore the relationship between MBTI personality types and college students' career choices, the efficacy of needs on career decision-making, and examine associated challenges and ethics. This research systematically analyzes studies published between 2015 and 2023, focusing on the impact of MBTI personality types on career outcomes. It highlights the diverse influence of MBTI personality types on college students, impacting their cross-cultural adjustment, occupational competence, coping skills, mental well-being and turnover intention. These insights contribute valuable knowledge to enhance personalized career guidance and employment services, facilitating better alignment with individual preferences for improved professional success and satisfaction.

The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of MBTI personality types on job satisfaction and organizational commitment among administrative workers at hospital-level medical institutions. As for the research method, 140 structured questionnaires were used in the final analysis, focusing on research subjects who agreed to the questionnaire, targeting administrative staff at hospitals located in Busan and Ulsan. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and correlation were used using the SPSS 27.0 program. Analysis, multiple regression analysis was performed. The results of the study showed that in job satisfaction, the NT type was higher than the ST type in system-related satisfaction (p=.028), and in emotional commitment, the NF type was higher than the ST type (p=.033). This significant difference appeared. In terms of decision-making type, the EF type was found to have significant differences in job satisfaction and organizational commitment compared to the IT and IF types. Based on these research results, the NF emotional type was found to be more suitable to increase work satisfaction and organizational commitment of workers in health care institutions. Hospitals are institutions that provide medical services, and for efficient work response and patient safety, it is believed that it is necessary to confirm the satisfaction, emotional commitment, and continued commitment of hospital administrative staff with their work and system.

Adaptive interior design method for different MBTI personality types based on generative artificial intelligence

Accurately predicting homeowners’ aesthetic preferences is crucial in interior design. This study develops a fine-tuning model (LORA) for interior design styles corresponding to different MBTI personality types, leveraging the Stable Diffusion Web UI platform and integrating it into a generative artificial intelligence framework. Subsequently, personalized aesthetic preference architectural interior renderings are recommended based on homeowners’ personality traits, aiming to achieve an adaptive interior design approach. To achieve more precise adaptive solutions, this research surveys the style and color tendencies of respondents with different MBTI personality types and adds style description prompts to assist in image generation. The study finds that this method can better predict the interior design styles favored by certain MBTI personality types. This research contributes to addressing aesthetic biases between designers and homeowners, bringing innovative ideas and methods to interior design, and is expected to enhance homeowners’ satisfaction.

Objectives: It is to understand the personality characteristics of students through the results of MBTI personality type and major satisfaction of dental hygiene students and provide basic data for student guidance and counseling Methods: From December 4, 2003 to March 29, 2024, 305 students enrolled in the dental hygiene department were conducted. For the data analysis of this study, the SPSS version 27.0 (IBM Crop, Armonk, USA) statistical program was used. Results: 1. The distribution of individual preference indicators was more introverted (I), sensory (S), sensory (F), and cognitive (P) 2. The MBTI personality types appeared in the order of ISFP, ISTP, ISFJ, and INFP, ESTJ. 3. The personality type by function was the highest in the sensory (S)-emotional type (F), and the personality type by temperament was the highest in the sensory (S)-perception type (P) 4. In terms of major satisfaction according to preference trends, students in introversion (I), sensory (S), thinking (T), and judgment (J) had high major satisfaction, and major satisfaction by personality type was in the order of ESTP, ISTJ, ISFJ, and ESFP, and major satisfaction of ST by function and SJ by temperament was the highest. Conclusions: Through the above results, it is expected that the MBTI personality type of students will be actively utilized to provide basic data on student guidance and counseling for students who may not adapt to the department.

The Correlation between the MBTI-Based Personality Analysis of Anime Characters and Their Popularity.

Anime has become a global phenomenon due to its diverse cultural representations, relatable characters, and unique storytelling. However, there is limited research on the relationship between character personality and popularity. The aim of this study is to understand the relevance of the characters' personalities to the audience's evaluation of various characters. This study analyzed the correlation between the MBTI personality evaluations of characters in anime and their popularity, based on the data of the personality of each animation character reviewed by audiences. In this study, 885 characters from 200 anime aimed at a male audience were selected as a sample for research. The results showed that personality traits such as introversion, intuition, and thinking had an impact on the popularity of female characters but not male characters. The overall results were influenced by the larger sample size of female characters. By addressing this question, the study can contribute to the design of a character's personality and overall success in anime.

Procrastination is the act of delaying essential tasks. It involves avoiding immediate action on a task by engaging in unrelated activities, leading to delays. Recognized as a detrimental habit, procrastination significantly impacts college students' lives. Prior research has primarily focused on physiological and environmental factors influencing procrastination. This study investigates the correlation between MBTI personality types and procrastination among college students. Data from 621 university students, collected through a questionnaire, were analyzed using SPSS. The findings indicate a tendency for individuals with NP-type personalities to procrastinate more, whereas those with J-type personalities are less inclined to do so. The complex relationship between personality and procrastination is highlighted, enhancing our understanding of its influence. This research provides valuable insights for both students and educators in addressing procrastination.

The Impact of Personality Types on Second Language Vocabulary Acquisition of College Students: Based on MBTI Personality Categorization

In the field of second language teaching and learning, researchers have been focusing on the importance of affective analysis, particularly regarding learners' personality types. Recent studies have shown that personality type can have a significant impact on a student's ability to learn a new language. However, little research has been conducted on whether or not personality type has any correlation with the acquisition of second language vocabulary. To delve further into this topic, this study was conducted using questionnaire data from college students. Whether it belongs to any personality trait in the E/I dimension N/S dimension F/T dimension or the J/P dimension, this personality trait is strongly related to the effect of second language vocabulary acquisition. So, personality stereotypes in language learner ability assessment must be broken. Teachers’ personalized teaching capabilities should be improved. In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of considering learners' personality types when designing second language teaching and learning strategies. By understanding how personality type affects language acquisition, teachers can better tailor their approach to meet the individual needs of each student.

The Impact of XiaoHongShu UGC on Travel Decision-Making of College Students with Different MBTI Personality Types

With the continuous advancement of We-Media, consumers are gradually starting to use User-Generated-Content on online social platforms as a reference for their travel decisions. Considering that consumers' subjective attitudes can also influence travel decisions, this study selects XiaoHongShu UGC and college students as research subjects, combining the IAM model, innovatively introducing MBTI theory to analyze the impact of XiaoHongShu UGC on travel decision-making of college students with different MBTI personality types through questionnaire surveys and literature research. The study found that there was no significant difference in the overall agreement degree of XiaoHongShu UGC and its impact on travel decisions among college students with different MBTI personality types, but the agreement degree of UGCs content and perceived value had a predictive effect on how XiaoHongShu UGC influenced the travel decisions of college students. During the analysis process, this study also found several issues regarding XiaoHongShu UGC for college student users, such as low information accuracy, information source credibility, clarity, and emotional resonance. Therefore, this study proposes four suggestions to optimize XiaoHongShu UGC, providing new perspectives for online promotion in the tourism market and filling the gap in related research fields.
