Strengthening teacher competence through joyful learning and innovative learning media training

A needs assessment at Muhammadiyah Middle School 9 Tanggulangin revealed that teachers struggle with creating interactive learning environments and developing innovative teaching materials. To address these challenges, a training program was conducted to enhance teachers' pedagogical skills, creativity, and motivation. The program consisted of two key activities: joyful learning training and training in the development of creative and innovative learning media. The process included several stages: preparation (needs assessment, program design, material development, and pre-test), implementation (intensive training on joyful learning and innovative media development), and evaluation. The training involved 12 teachers (4 men and 8 women). The results showed significant improvements in teachers' understanding of joyful learning concepts and their ability to create creative and innovative learning materials. This program highlights the importance of adopting innovative and enjoyable teaching strategies to enhance teacher competence and improve student learning experiences. The initiative demonstrated that targeted training could effectively address the challenges teachers face, leading to better educational outcomes.

A Curricular Review of Radiology Education in a Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program.

Physician assistants/associates (PAs) are expected to be competent in ordering and interpreting diagnostic imaging. However, there are no further details outlining the educational expectations of PAs as it relates to radiology upon graduation. This can result in significant variability in the radiology curricula that PA students are taught and, consequently, hinder PAs' ability to work within their full scope of practice. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to map the radiology curriculum in a Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program to elucidate radiological educational training before graduation. Quantitative curricular mapping was used to assess the 2021 to 2022 MPAS program for radiological involvement. Relevant course and session objectives related to radiology education were identified. In addition, educational learning material was reviewed for diagnostic imaging content. Formal radiological training was observed in 8 of 27 courses in the preclinical curriculum, with 4.35% of the total session objectives directed to radiological education. This formal exposure comprises 18.9 hours (1.71%) of curricular time. Informal diagnostic imaging exposure increased radiology education to approximately 29.5 hours (2.67%) of curricular time. One course (Diagnostic Imaging) focuses exclusively on radiology teaching and accounts for approximately 50% of the total radiologic teaching. X-ray ordering and interpretation received the greatest emphasis throughout the curriculum, while ultrasound received the least attention. Further integration of formal radiological education into PA programs should be considered with specific attention directed toward point-of-care ultrasound exposure and ordering/interpretation skills.

Technology-Based Education Marketplace Software for Adult Learning

The objectives of this research are: 1) to describe the empirical conditions of learning needs at the Community Learning Centre (CLC) in Indonesia; and 2) to explain how the marketplace model is used to address learning needs. Benefits from the education marketplace can assist learners in meeting their learning needs, connecting to various learning materials, and ensuring they can study and remain productive. From December 2022 to May 2023, the research methodologies used, i.e., mixed methods with qualitative and quantitative approaches, were carried out to 228 CLC students in 77 CLCs all over Indonesia. The findings of this study have resulted in prototypes of physical models and narrative models that can be used to address the community's learning needs in the CLC institutional context via the Education Marketplace software Smart Store. As an adult learner, the intelligent store marketplace has given adults the ability to select roles, i.e. as a learning resource. This study suggests that technology can enable and enhance lifelong learning, and that everyone can learn to meet their knowledge demands through technology.

Perception and Knowledge of Students on the Use of YouTube in Authentic Assessment

Literacy design by using digital learning resources in the instructional activities at school is presently inevitable. Besides providing learning materials, digital learning materials are also suitable for applying authentic assessment that can improve learners’ skills and competencies contextually. The study is intended to explore students’ perceptions on the use of the YouTube as materials for authentic assessment. The study was carried out through quantitative and qualitative surveys with 47 graduate students at Yogyakarta State University, 45 domestic and 2 overseas students. The study took place in a blended learning context. Students were asked to complete an on-line questionnaire, practice authentic assessment in class, and conduct observation activities. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and descriptive qualitative method. Findings show that students’ perceptions on the use of the YouTube channel and authentic assessment are generally positive. Almost all the students agree with the genre-based language learning and assessment of which one of the resources is the Internet and all its derivations; almost all of the students agree that the implementation of the YouTube-based instructional processes applies the authentic assessment model with the primary performances of speaking and writing using a rubric; practice of students’ performances in authentic competencies is scored and commented on by their peer.

Upaya meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Peserta didik dan Sikap Gotong Royong Dengan Metode Problem Basic Learning (PBL) Berbantuan Audio Visual Pada Pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Katolik dan Budi Pekerti di kelas VII Fase D SMP N 2 Doloksanggul

This research aims to improve learning outcomes for Catholic students in class VII of SMP N 2 Doloksanggul by using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by audio-visual media which is applied in PaKat and BP learning for the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in 2 cycles through 4 stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection with different learning materials. The subjects of this research were 15 students in class VII of SMP N 2 Doloksanggul who were Catholic. The indicators of success in this research are based on increasing learning outcomes in cognitive, affective and psychomotor and social aspects. Data collection techniques using observation and assessment of student learning outcomes. Data analysis techniques with formulas to determine average values and percentages. The research results showed that the average student interest in learning in cycle I was 72% in the proficient category and experienced an increase in cycle II, namely 78% in the proficient category. The overall average percentage of interest in learning has reached more than 90%, so the researchers state that this research has achieved success. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Audio Visual media can increase students' interest in learning.

Peningkatan Hasil Belajar Fase E Kelas X Materi Bersikap Kritis dan Bertanggung Jawab terhadap Media Massa dengan Bantuan Platform Digital Menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah di SMA Negeri 1 Alasa, Kecamatan Alasa, Kabupaten Nias Utara

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes on the material "Being critical and responsible towards mass media" in Catholic Religious Education and Character Education learning in class X Phase E of SMA Negeri 1 Alasa using the Problem Based Learning method. The subjects of the study were six students who had difficulty with the material. This study was conducted in two cycles with four stages, namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results showed an increase in student learning outcomes with an average score increasing from cycle I to cycle II. The implementation of the PBL method has a positive impact on student understanding of the material and active participation in learning. This study suggests the application of the PBL method to improve the quality of learning outcomes in other subjects.

Integrating Digital Authentic Materials in ESP Classrooms: Effects on Kazakh Students’ Language Proficiency and Student Engagement

The primary aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of selected task-design strategies for integrating digital authentic materials into ESP instruction. It mainly focuses on how teachers navigated this alternative learning environment and the challenges they experienced. A mixed-methods approach was employed, gathering quantitative data through standardized tests and qualitative data through interviews and classroom observations. The study involved thirty-five language instructors from the English language departments of two leading Kazakh universities. The results revealed that critical media literacy instruction to use authentic materials in language learning significantly enhances language proficiency and engagement and effectively equips students with the necessary skills to navigate and assess the digital information landscape. These findings underscore the potential of digital authentic materials in language instruction, paving the way for a promising future in language education. The research highlights the importance of integrating digital literacy into the curriculum to prepare students for the demands of the digital age. The research findings provide vital insights for policymakers and stakeholders to deliberate on effective professional development programs. These programs can assist educators in addressing challenges and acquiring essential content knowledge, pedagogical expertise, and technological competence.

Early childhood education contingencies for sustaining learning during school closures: Lessons from preschool remote education home visits in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic

Maintaining kindergarten education amid emergency situations is difficult. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the difficulties faced by early childhood education institutions in ensuring that children continue education despite school closures and prolonged social isolation. The transition from in-classroom learning to remote learning, which was mostly online for older age groups, was especially complicated for younger pupils due to their nature and limited family resources. In contrast, numerous kindergartens in Indonesia initiated home visit programs that enabled children to learn face-to-face with their teachers and peers during the school closure periods. The purpose of this study was to examine how the home visit program for early childhood education was implemented and how teachers and parents viewed this emergency alternative to online learning. A qualitative case study was employed as a method of inquiry. Nine parents and four teachers from a single kindergarten in South Tangerang, a suburb of Jakarta, participated in this study. The data revealed the home visit program’s implementation involved the following measures: dividing children into small groups, a teacher visiting each group’s assigned home once or twice per week for 45–90 min, enforcing health measures, and giving daily activities for students to complete with their parents. Teachers stated that the home visit program was helpful but had significant faults. Among the benefits were the following: It helped children comprehend learning materials, piqued their interest, and served as a possible alternative due to a family’s lack of resources such as electricity, internet connectivity and quota, educators’ competency in implementing online learning, and parents limited or unavailable devices. Meanwhile, some disadvantages of home visits included the following: Parents felt obligated to entertain their children’s teachers and peers, some students were unable to study due to distance, additional time and energy was spent on media preparation and learning activities, and the risk of exposure to COVID-19 was increased. In the future, unexpected health hazards or other situations may occur. These findings indicate the need for early childhood education institutions to be more prepared, develop a strategy and adjust their instructional approaches to respond rapidly to changing circumstances when required.

Integrating Scientific Approaches in Digital Learning Materials to Improve Spatial Abilities in Cube Geometry: A Research and Development

This research aims to determine the level of validity, practicality and effectiveness of digital teaching materials based on a scientific approach, so that they can improve students' spatial abilities in cube material. This type of research is development research with the ADDIE development model. Research instruments in the research include questionnaire validation sheets, lesson plan validation sheets, digital teaching material validation sheets, test instrument validation sheets, spatial ability tests, as well as teacher and student response questionnaires to digital teaching materials. The research results show that: (1) the scientific approach-based digital teaching materials developed have met the validity criteria based on validator assessments with the average validity of digital teaching materials for material being 3.44 and 3.82 for media in the very appropriate category; (2) the scientific approach-based digital teaching materials developed have met the practicality criteria through: a) the results of the student response questionnaire to digital teaching materials show a practicality percentage of 82.75% in the very practical category, b) the results of the teacher response questionnaire to digital teaching materials show practicality percentage 91.67% in the very practical category; (3) The scientific approach-based digital teaching materials developed meet the effective criteria with: a) classical student learning completeness of 90%, b) more than 65% of students have achieved 75% of the learning objectives for each indicator, c) increasing students' spatial abilities After using digital teaching materials, it can be seen from the students' average score increasing from 47.67 in the pretest to 86.50 in the posttest. The results of the N-Gain analysis which shows that students' spatial abilities have increased by 0.725, meaning they are in the high category.

Managing Personalization and Collaboration in Education: A Systematic Review of Educational Practices

This systematic literature review analyzes 20 carefully selected documents from the Scopus database. This study explores ways that align with Islamic educational management's principles to balance personalized learning outcomes and community empowerment in academic settings. The selection of documents is based on relevance to the focus and recent developments in Islamic education. The qualitative analysis method uses thematic coding and VOS Viewer. The analysis results indicate that Islamic approaches like collaboration, reflection, and feedback can achieve balanced learning outcomes. Collaborative filtering helps select learning materials according to student's needs, while reflection and feedback strengthen positive interactions and ukhuwah within the learning community. In addition, computer-based learning and e-learning allow students to learn at their own pace. A flexible curriculum allows for adjustments to students' interests by the principle of taysir (making it easy). These findings recommend that educational institutions integrate a multifaceted approach to create an inclusive, adaptive, and Islamic-oriented learning environment.

Mentoring Towards Information Communication and Technology in Utilizing Electronic Media for Bachelor of Teaching Livelihood Education Students in Eastern Visayas State University

The study aimed to determine the effects of mentoring towards Information Communication Technology (ICT) integration process in teaching Trainer's Methodology I in Facilitating Learning, specifically on competency-based learning materials on Utilizing Electronic Media in Facilitating Learning. In this process, interaction among the mentors and the mentees are encouraged to improve their work-based practice. The quasi-experimental design used specifically the pretest-posttest method. The module and pre-posttest exam used in this study constructed by the researchers. The mentees’ participation had determined, and modifications in teachers ICT’ integration indicators have analyzed. Observation and result of pre-test and post-test data described for skill and proficiency level of the mentees before and end of peer mentoring activity. The results indicated that the mentees in the experimental group show a noticeable improvement in their scores from pretest to posttest. The respondents compared to the controlled group which there is no significant difference between the pretest mean scores in ICT mentoring among Bachelor in Teaching Livelihood Education (BTLEd) students in the experimental groups. A significant result between the posttest means scores in ICT mentoring among BTLEd students in the experimental and control group and finally, using the mentoring approach in ICT to BTLEd students is more effective than using the traditional methods of teaching the same lesson.

Implementing Differentiated Instruction in Emancipated Curriculum: Narrative Review

The paper aims to provide a detailed description of the implementation of differentiated instruction in an emancipated curriculum. The purpose of this review was to provide a comprehensive summary of the current literature on a specific topic. Implementing differentiated teaching can be analyzed from four perspectives: learning material, instructional process, assessment, and learning environment. Through the implementation of differentiated instruction, teachers can actively involve students in the process of teaching and learning, hence enhancing students' academic performance. Therefore, diversified learning may accommodate the diverse needs, cognitive preferences, and abilities of each student in a classroom environment. This approach not only promotes equity but also enhances student engagement and achievement. Professional educators are recommended to employ differentiated instruction as a method to actively include pupils in the learning process.

Reimagining Learner Engagement Through Flipped Classrooms in the Post COVID-19 Era

The post-COVID-19 era gave rise to the emergence of innovative teaching and learning strategies, which, among others, included flipped classrooms. This article sought to determine whether flipped classrooms are beneficial when online learning material is distributed prior the commencement of the class. Piaget’s (1986) Constructivist Learning Theory underpinned this inquiry. Constructivism is an approach to education that holds that people actively generate their own knowledge and that reality is shaped by the learner's experiences. The interpretive paradigm and a qualitative approach were utilized to collect information through semi-structured interviews with twelve conveniently selected grade 10 teachers. Using a case study design, the researcher could investigate the phenomenon in detail. Findings, which ensued from thematically analysed data, indicated that learners benefit most from pre-class activities as they offer increased participation opportunities as learners engage in discussions in their native languages. Thus, discussions and modelling tasks during in-class activities are learner-centred, with the development of paraphrasing skills, which promote good essay writing skills with minimum plagiarism effects. The author, therefore, recommends that Teachers require ongoing professional development in applying flipped classrooms using advanced learner-centred technological pedagogies, which promote maximum participation in the learning environment.

Parental Discretionary Influence on their Children's Manner of Learning English Language

Parents serve as the first and most influential educators in a child's life, shaping their attitudes towards learning, fostering a supportive home environment conducive to academic success, and instilling crucial values such as perseverance and resilience. Beyond academic achievement, parental involvement contributes to the holistic development of students by promoting positive socio-emotional outcomes. When parents actively participate in their children's education, they provide a sense of security, support, and encouragement that bolsters their self-esteem and confidence This exploratory study delved into the concept of parental discretion in education and learning the English language. Purposive sampling (n=16) was carried out to sample the parents based on several demographic profiles i.e., educational background, monthly income, work, number of children, and language/dialects at home. Narratives from one-one-one interview were the primary data in this study. Findings indicated that parental discretion was characterized by (i) understanding child’s needs, (ii) adaptation, (iii) flexibility, (iv) autonomy, (v) supportive environment, (vi) reflection. Parents design their support strategies to their child's developmental stage, cognitive ability, and sociocultural milieu, trying to provide an adapted and helpful learning environment. Parents who exercise assessment in selecting learning materials and media content assure alignment with their child's educational goals and interests, which fosters engagement and facilitated effective learning. This study examined parental discretion in many different circumstances, stressing its significance in maximizing parent-child educational interactions and providing the framework for future research and practice.

PENERAPAN PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS SCAFFOLDING TERHADAP CARA BERPIKIR KREATIF SISWA KELAS VIII-2 SMP NEGERI 12 KOTA TANGGERANG SELATAN

ABSTRACT Learning requires a process, including when students learn something, it requires a process of creative thinking so that a teacher's assistance is needed by students. This research aims to see how the scaffolding-based learning process is applied to students' creative thinking, especially in subjects of Pancasila. The target of this research is class VIII-2 students at SMPN 12 South Tanggerang City, using a qualitative approach research method through the stages of observation, interviews, and documentation carried out by the researcher. From the results of this research, the application of scaffolding-based learning to students' creative thinking can be successful, said to be successful because, with scaffolding-based learning, students who previously did not know and could not finally know can do so with gradual assistance from educators gradually students can learn it independently and by themselves students can easily understand the learning material so that enable students to think more creatively.

PENGARUH PERKEMBANGAN TEKNOLOGI, KUALITAS SDM, PERTUMBUHAN EKONOMI, DAN INVESTASI TERHADAP TPT

Unemployment is a macro problem that grows due to the imbalance between economic growth and increased employment. East Java Province made various efforts to reduce the open unemployment rate. To overcome the unemployment problem in East Java, several indicators are of concern to be studied, namely technological development, quality of human resources (HR), economic growth, and investment in 2015-2022. The purpose of this study is to findout the factors that can affect TPT in East Java. This study uses panel data, through classical assumption tests to hypothesis tests, with secondary data types coming from the official website of BPS (Central Statistics Agency). The estimation results suggest that technological developments, the quality of human resources, and investment tend to increase the number of TPT in East Java. Meanwhile, economic growth tends to reduce the TPT figure in East Java. This research can be a learning material about unemployment.

Development of a canva-based heyzine flipbooks e-module as an alternative learning resources on pancasila education subjects

The purpose of this research is that the learning materials used by teachers in the learning of Pancasila Education are judged to be boring, less interesting, difficult, confusing and cause students' knowledge to be less than maximum. The purpose of this study is to develop Canva-based Heyzine Flipbooks e-module learning media on smartphones/laptops as a Pancasila Education learning medium as well as find out the feasibility and assessment of Canva-based Heyzine Flipbooks e-module as an alternative learning resource on Pancasila Education subject. This study was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan. The subjects of the study were class XI-Matlanfor students at Percut Sei Tuan Secondary School 1, and this study used the research and development method developed by Willis. The development model used was R2D2.Questionnaires, interviews, observation and documentation were used as data collection techniques in this study. Data analysis technique This study used both qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis. The qualitative data of this study were obtained from validators, subject matter experts and the media at the validation stage. Quantitative constitutes data describing the results of product development in the form of e-module-based learning media Heyzine Flipbooks based on Canva. The obtained data were then analyzed using the formula of validity percentage(%) = tse/tsh x 100. The results of the study stated that the heyzine flipbooks on E-module learning were perceived as very useful and very interesting to use in the field because of the research data obtained from media experts, subject matter experts,PPKn teachers and student responses were declared very viable categories with the acquisition of subject matter expert validation of 98%, media expert validation of 98% and teacher evaluation of 96%. The very feasible category was then reinforced with a student response of 93% with the very interesting category. This proves that learning media is highly recommended to be applied in SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan

Use of ICT in English Language Teaching Classroom

Information Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching and learning is indispensable for improving teachers' professional skills in English language teaching (ELT). This paper examines secondary English language teachers' experiences in using ICT in teaching English in Nepal. The extensive semi-structured interview as a key information-gathering strategy under the phenomenological research method was employed to explore the participants’ experiences in applying ICT skills in teaching English. Four English language teachers who had been using ICT in teaching for at least two years were selected purposively from two public secondary schools in Rupandehi, Nepal. The findings revealed that the use of ICT engages students' cognitive processes and their autonomy in class. It also creates an engaging and dynamic atmosphere for learning and facilitates better access to learning materials. The study can contribute to improving teaching and learning efficacy using ICT skills for effective teaching in public schools in Nepal.

Meningkatan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa Kelas X Melalui Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Learning di SMK Pertukangan Santo Yusup

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve the critical thinking skills of Grade X students at SMK Pertukangan Santo Yusup by applying the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The background for this research is the previously low critical thinking skills of students, who tended to be passive and less actively involved in the learning process. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) divided into two cycles, Cycle I and Cycle II, covering the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. In the first cycle, observation results showed that most students were still in the low category of critical thinking skills, with only a few reaching the "Proficient" category. After improvements in the second cycle, there was a significant increase. The number of students able to think critically in the "Proficient" category rose to 47%, and many students began to analyze, evaluate, and argue more effectively. The study also proved that the application of PBL increased students' active involvement in learning. They became more engaged in group discussions, problem-solving, and independent problem analysis. The classroom atmosphere also became more dynamic, with more positive interactions between students and between students and teachers. In conclusion, the PBL model is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. The recommendations are to strengthen the implementation of PBL, develop relevant learning materials, provide sufficient time for learning, and conduct regular evaluations to ensure continuous improvement. With proper implementation, PBL can be further developed to help students hone their critical thinking skills.

Efektivitas Penggunaan Media Wordwall untuk Meningkatkan Minat Belajar Siswa Kelas VII SMPN 1 Cipicung

The purpose of this study is to increase the effectiveness of woodwall media on the learning interest of SMPN 1 Cipicung students. The method used in this study uses a quantitative approach with pre-experimental designs (non-designs) in the form of intact-group comparison). The instruments used are observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The research data obtained from the data of the results of the questionnaire that was declared valid using the instrument test, namely the validity and reliability test. Data analysis techniques used normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t-tests. The results of data analysis show that ICT learning using wordwall media has been effectively applied to increase the learning interest of grade VII students of SMPN 1 Cipicung. In the delivery of learning materials, it shows the effect of direct involvement between teachers and students so that it can facilitate the teaching and learning process so that the expected goals can be achieved, especially in increasing students' interest in learning.
