Islamic Education Management In The Society 5.0 Era: Building A Educational System That Is Responsive To Technological And Social Changes

This research aims to analyze Islamic education management in facing the Society 5.0 era, characterized by the integration of digital technology in social and educational life. Using a mixed-methods approach, this research collected quantitative data through surveys of 150 respondents from Islamic educational institutions and qualitative data through in-depth interviews with 15 school principals and pesantren administrators. The research results show that although technology has been adopted by most Islamic educational institutions, significant challenges arise related to infrastructure limitations, teachers' digital skills, and access disparities in various regions. Adaptive and technology-based leadership plays a crucial role in designing policies that support digital transformation in Islamic educational institutions. Moreover, the integration of Islamic values with technology has also proven to be important in maintaining the identity and morality of Islamic education. This research suggests the importance of intensive training for educators and equitable access to technology so that Islamic education management can be more responsive to social and technological changes, and capable of improving the quality of education in the future.

Equitable futures: Afrofuturism’s critical world-building potential for management education

How can management education integrate Afrofuturism’s critical world-building practices to challenge oppression and (inter-related) identity-shaping categories, such as gender and race? In this article, we introduce the intellectual, cultural, and aesthetic movement of Afrofuturism as a vehicle to foster emancipatory learning. We posit that Afrofuturism mobilizes world-building inspired by Afrocentric perspectives that are of particular value for management learners to: (a) interrogate in an intersectional way multiple identity-shaping sources of oppression, (b) experiment with non-linear approaches to time that offer an ingenious lens to examine identity issues, and (c) to capitalize on the emotional connections and rich multi-modal learning offered by transmedia storytelling. Our work advances the agenda of critical management educators by offering a radical proposal for learners to address existing systemic inequalities and re-imaginative alternative organizational, emancipatory futures.

Transformational Leadership of Lecturers: Exploring The Role of Self-Efficacy and Proactive Student Engagement at Universities in The Mekong Delta Region, Vietnam

This study examines the relationship between transformational leadership of lecturers and student engagement at universities in the Mekong Delta region, with a focus on the mediating role of self-efficacy. Based on Bandura’s social cognitive theory, data were collected from 2,615 students across five universities through a cross-sectional quantitative research approach. The results showed that the leadership leadership has a positive influence on the participation of students and their own ability. The student's own capacity acts as the operator, strengthening the relationship between the lecturer's leadership and the participation of students. The structural equation model (SEM) is used to confirm theoretical relationships. The limitations related to cultural characteristics and representative characteristics of the sample are proposed for future research. These findings provide practical insights for educational managers and educational experts, recommend strengthening lecturer leadership measures and integrating self-competency assessments into policies education to improve student participation and academic results.

Unveiling the Online Classroom Management in Higher Education

This study addresses the lack of understanding surrounding effective management of online classrooms in the context of the increasing shift towards online learning in education. The research focuses on identifying the challenges faced by educators in managing virtual classrooms and suggest suitable classroom management strategies for online settings. Employing a qualitative approach, the study conducts a systematic review of 20 peer-reviewed papers obtained through EBCOST data base. The results indicate that educators encounter both familiar challenges in online environments, similar to face-to-face settings, as well as distinct challenges unique to the online medium. These specific challenges include issues like unpreparedness to class such as unstable internet connectivity, unmuted microphones, students being late to virtual classes, improper use of web cameras, and inappropriate attire and less interactions. The study also highlights practical strategies for managing online classrooms, including setting classroom rules, effective communication with students, and skillfully managing asynchronous discussions and online teamwork. Based on the results, the study emphasizes the necessity for professional development in online education to enhance online classroom management practices.

Exploring the Impacts of Assessable Virtual Tours on Student Engagement in an Event Management Course

This study addresses calls to understand the role of assessable virtual tours (AVTs) in fostering student engagement within event management courses. AVTs, by simulating real-world experiences, allow students to situate their acquired knowledge relative to real-world situations. Utilizing the dimensions of Dixson's Online Student Engagement Scale (OSE) as a guiding lens, this study explores nuances in its four dimensions of student engagement (skills, emotional, participation, and performance engagement) when applied to an AVT. An Australian undergraduate event management course was used as a case study to explore the role of AVTs in fostering student engagement. Through student focus groups conducted in 2021 and 2022, the qualitative findings expand understanding of student engagement using the OSE lens, identifying novel subthemes while confirming the established engagement dimensions. The contributions of the study are situated relative to the OSE and practical implications for event management educators are highlighted.

Inclusive education is a critical component of contemporary educational reforms, emphasizing equitable access and quality learning for all students, including those with special needs. This study explores applying educational management principles in curricula management within inclusive schools in Indonesia. The research uses a qualitative approach to examine the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes involved in inclusive curriculum management. Key findings indicate that effective curriculum management involves systematic planning, teacher capacity building, and stakeholder collaboration, addressing barriers such as limited resources and insufficient training. The results study highlight the importance of adaptable strategies and participatory management to enhance the inclusivity of educational practices. These insights contribute to the development of policies and practices that support equitable and sustainable inclusive education

Association Between Nurses' Comfort and Confidence in Pain Management and Compassion Satisfaction and Fatigue.

A current challenge that may exacerbate symptoms of compassion fatigue and compromise the ability to experience compassion satisfaction among nurses is pain management. This study examined the associations between nurses' comfort with administering pain management, confidence in providers' prescribing patterns and reported compassion satisfaction and compassion fatigue (measured as burnout and secondary traumatic stress). This exploratory study used a survey design to gather primary data from nurses via a convenience sampling method. A survey was created and disseminated electronically to registered nurses from September to November 2019. The survey asked about nurses' comfort administering pain medications, confidence in providers' prescribing patterns, and the Professional Quality of Life Scale (ProQOL). While nurses reported comfort treating patients with pain and managing pain, they were less confident that providers opioid prescribing patterns. Confidence in provider prescribing was positively correlated with compassion satisfaction and negatively correlated with burnout. Organizations should focus on continuing education of pain management, creating a culture of evidence-based pain management, and promoting effective communication.

The Exposome, Social Determinants, and Environmental Pollution: Comprehensive Cardiovascular Risk in Women.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a significant global health concern for women, influenced by a complex interplay of social, economic, and environmental factors. This article examines cardiovascular risk through the lens of the exposome, which encompasses all environmental exposures from conception onward, including pollution, diet, and chronic stress. Social determinants such as socioeconomic status (SES), education, and stress management play crucial roles in shaping women's cardiovascular health. Lower SES and education are associated with greater exposure to adverse living conditions, poor nutrition, and limited access to healthcare, increasing the risk of CVD. Environmental pollution, particularly air pollution and climate-related changes, further exacerbates cardiovascular risk by promoting oxidative stress and inflammation. Additionally, gender-specific factors, such as pregnancy and menopause, interact with the exposome, heightening the vulnerability of women to cardiovascular risks over their lifetime. Addressing these risk factors requires a comprehensive approach, incorporating public health strategies that focus on reducing pollution, improving food security, and mitigating social inequalities. By addressing the cumulative and interacting exposures that contribute to cardiovascular disease, especially in women, more effective prevention strategies can be developed to improve long-term health outcomes.

Curriculum as an educational design has a very strategic position in all aspects of educational activities. Given the importance of curriculum development in education, preparation should refer to a strong and strong foundation. The foundation of curriculum development is not only needed by the compiler of the curriculum (macro) or written curriculum which is often referred to as the ideal curriculum, but must also be understood and used as a basis for consideration by the (micro) curriculum implementers, namely education supervisors and teachers and other parties related to the task of education management, as material that will be used as an instrument in coaching the implementation of the curriculum in each type and education level. With this important position, curriculum development cannot be carried out arbitrarily, but must be based on various considerations, or foundations so that it can be used as a foothold in organizing the educational process, thereby facilitating the achievement of educational and learning goals more efficiently and effectively.

Integrating Maternal and Child Health Into Climate Change: A Holistic Approach.

In everyday language, climate change is an increase in the Earth's average temperature. Climate change negatively affects life support systems, including air, food, water, shelter, and security, on which humans depend. This paper aims to holistically integrate maternal and child health into climate change. A narrative/literature review approach were adopted using papers sources from google scholar, research gate and web of science. About 10 papers was initially gathered and it was later scrutinized to 6. It was discovered that, climate change negatively impacts food and water security, heat stress, extreme weather, and air pollution, with women and children most affected. The World Health Organization estimates 250,000 climate-related deaths annually by 2050, disproportionately affecting maternal and child health. Integrating climate and maternal health strategies could offer benefits, yet research on adapting to climate change's effects on pregnancy outcomes is limited. Addressing maternal and child health requires integrating health-focused strategies into environmental policies to reduce vulnerabilities to climate-related risks. A comprehensive approach can enhance resilience by improving healthcare access, education, and sustainable resource management, benefiting public health and environmental outcomes.

Digital Transformation in Public Administration and Data-Driven Decision-Making: A Review of Turkana County Government

Digital transformation is increasingly becoming a focal point for organizations and governments worldwide, including Kenya. In Kenya, the 2010 Constitution introduced devolution, decentralizing governance, enabling county-level implementation of government programs, and extending governance to the grassroots. Among the functions devolved to counties is Early Childhood Development and Education (Pre-primary education), aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accountability in governance. Turkana County, inhabited primarily by the Turkana people with a history of nomadic pastoralism, views Pre-primary education as crucial for initiating academic life. Embracing digital transformation in Pre-primary education implementation represents a significant shift. The study focused on Turkana County Government’s strategies for digital transformation in Pre-primary education and identified key objectives: Assessing digital inclusion in public administration in Turkana County; recommending practical implementation of two systems: Turkana Early Childhood Development Education Management Information System and Continuous Database Updating system; and establishing sustainability measures for data-driven decision-making. The study employed a descriptive research design involving observation and desktop review of county online platforms and libraries. Information gathered affirmed the status of digital transformation in Pre-primary education and guided recommendations. Turkana County Government has implemented two digital systems: Turkana Early Childhood Development and Education Management Information System (a website) and Continuous Database Updating System (Data entry and updating system). The website hosts programs and data related to pre-primary education management, including teacher and learner information, infrastructure development, feeding programs, policy updates, and reports on supervision and evaluation of teachers. Recommendations for successful digital transformation included investing in community engagement for program sustainability, strengthening administrative structures, and enhancing digital technology in Pre-primary education. These measures aim to ensure efficient and effective management of Pre-primary education programs. In conclusion, the Turkana County Government’s adoption of the two digital systems marks a significant step towards modernizing Pre-primary education management. By following the study’s recommendations, Turkana County can achieve enhanced governance and educational outcomes through digital transformation, thereby serving as a model for similar initiatives across Kenya’s counties.

The purpose of this research is to find out the importance of digital transformation in education management so that it offers great opportunities to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of education. and by being principled on the foundations of Islamic education such as: the principle of tawhid, the principle of integration, the principle of balance, and the principle of lifelong education. Digital transformation of education management: accelerating students' digital literacy through education technology is expected to have a significant positive impact on improving students' digital literacy. That way, they will be better prepared to face global challenges, engage in a technology-based society, and contribute positively to the advancement of education in this digital era. The method of this research combines qualitative methods or library research methods. The result of this research is that the digital transformation of education management is a reconstruction of changes in the education system starting from the paradigm of society itself to the internal part of the educational institutional system. The pattern of education transformation refers to the principle of improving process quality and product quality. Digital transformation of education management as an acceleration of students' digital literacy through education technology plays an important role in improving human quality in addition to emphasizing the development of piety and social morals, with the digital transformation of education management also strengthening and advancing science and technology. Thus, the big agenda of digital transformation of education management needs to be normatively oriented towards idealistic, sociological, cultural, psychological, and scientific foundations.

Sarong Aldaw: Retelling Intersections of Agriculture and Its Socio-economic Facets towards Education for Sustainability

The retelling of oral narratives provides a powerful lens through which to examine the intricate interplay between agriculture and its socio-economic facets. This research paper attempts to provide additional empirical evidence from qualitative inquiry and process and ask, what is the retelling process of oral narratives on the intersections of culture, traditions and agriculture especially along the socio-economic facets in Calabanga, Camarines Sur, Philippines? After exploring the retelling process situated in the context of Calabanga, the researchers examined the possibility of transforming the literary piece from text to theater. Combining document review of previously written research, observation of the actual process of bulungan and interviews with randomly identified practitioners of bulungan, we set out to answer the following research questions: (1) How bulungan as a cultural practice could be transformed into a script as a retelling of an oral narrative? (2) What is the plot structure of the script and how does it relate to the oral narrative from which it was derived? (3) How does the script create and develop its characters, and what role do these characters play in the overall narrative? (4) What is the relationship between the script’s structure and the cultural context in which it was produced? (5) What are the implications of the script’s structure for broader debates on sustainability of culture? The study’s findings on the traditional business practice of “bulungan” in Calabanga can have significant implications for the town’s agriculture and socio-economic facets. The documentation and preservation of this tradition through the script “Sarong Aldaw” can serve as a means to promote and sustain local businesses and livelihoods, particularly among fishermen and fish vendors in San Miguel Bay. By uncovering the stories within agricultural traditions, practices, and interactions, retelling oral narratives deepens our understanding of the complex relationships between agriculture and socio-economic aspects and its ensuing benefits towards education for heritage management. Researchers recommend further investigation on the role of traditions and culture in shaping oral narratives on the agricultural sector. As the agricultural landscape evolves and communities adapt to new challenges, these narratives remain vital tools in preserving heritage, guiding policies, and fostering sustainable development.

Transformative Islamic Education Management in Responding to Environmental and Humanitarian Challenges in the Digital Age

Transformative Islamic education has an important role in responding to environmental and humanitarian challenges in the digital era. In this dynamic and rapidly changing era, a transformative approach in the management of Islamic education is very necessary to ensure that students are able to face the changes that occur wisely and sustainably. Transformative Islamic education teaches Islamic values that prioritize support for the environment and humanity. Through this approach, it is hoped that students can become agents of change who are responsible for protecting the environment and solving various humanitarian problems that exist in the world today. One of the environmental problems that is the main focus in transformative Islamic education is plastic waste. Plastic waste is a serious environmental problem with significant negative impacts on human life and other living things on earth. This research is library research, analyzed qualitatively using inductive thinking methods. The findings of this research are that, with a transformative approach, students are taught to care about the surrounding environment and understand the importance of preserving nature. Apart from that, transformative Islamic education also teaches the importance of empathy and concern for fellow humans. In this fast-paced and individualistic digital era, the values of caring for others are often neglected. Through a transformative approach, students are taught to be sensitive to the suffering of fellow humans and try to help others.

Thirty-Day Complication Rates After Gender-Affirming Bottom Surgery: An Analysis of the NSQIP Database From 2010 to 2020.

Gender-affirming bottom surgeries (GABS) play a central role in treating gender dysphoria to improve quality of life for transgender and nonbinary (TGNB) patients. However, there exists limited data on operative risks and outcomes for patient populations undergoing GABS. The goal of this study is to identify sociodemographic and clinical risk factors for determining 30-day postoperative complications in patients undergoing GABS. The ACS - NSQIP database from 2010 to 2020 was used to identify patients undergoing gender affirmation surgery (GAS) using Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes included in transfeminine and transmasculine bottom surgery. IBS-SPSS software was used to perform a multivariate analysis to determine risk factors for increased 30-day postoperative complications including unplanned reoperation and readmission rates. A total of 1809 GABS were performed in the NSQIP database from 2010 to 2020. There was an upward trend in GABS procedures throughout the years, with 2017 having the most GABS (n = 629). Transmasculine patients with a BMI of 29 and over were at a greater risk for wound complications ( P < 0.05). Diabetic transfeminine patients were also at a greater risk for wound complications ( P < 0.05). This study identified that several sociodemographic and clinical risk factors, such as BMI and diabetes mellitus type 2, had increased postoperative complications for patients undergoing gender-affirming bottom surgeries. Wound care management and patient education are essential in GABS to prevent long-term complications. Physician awareness of risk factors and social determinants of health can help prevent and improve postoperative care education and patient compliance.
