ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILL BUILDING AS PREDICTOR OF MSMES SUCCESS IN OGUN-STATE, NIGERIA

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) often constitute the cornerstone of economic development. Their success therefore is imperative to the economic growth and development of any nation. Despite this, most of the MSMEs owners in Nigeria could not record success in their businesses and the need to unravel the causative factors with a view to recommending practical strategies to correct the situation remains a pressing one. This paper therefore sought to explore entrepreneurial skill building as predictor of MSMEs success in Ogun state. This study used a descriptive survey research design. The population of this study comprised one thousand seven hundred and ninety-four (3,794) MSMEs owners/ managers in Ogun State, Nigeria. While the sample comprised (600) MSMEs owners/managers using Stratified random sampling techniques. Two research instruments were used to generate data for this study. They are: Entrepreneurial Skill Building Questionnaire (ESBQ) and MSMEs Success Questionnaire (MSMSQ). The four null hypotheses were tested using Multiple Regression analysis at 0.05 level of significance.The results showed that business management skill had a significant influence on MSMEs success in Ogun State, F (240501) = 48.517, p < .05). Also, that creativity skill had a significant contribution to MSMEs success in Ogun State, F (654559) = 19.200, p < .05). Meanwhile, environmental scanning skill had a significant contribution to MSMEs success in Ogun State, F (288590) = 33.149, p < .05). Additionally, business management skill, creativity skill and environmental scanning skill had significant composite influence on MSMEs success in Ogun State, F (243575) = 18.213, p < .05). This study concluded that entrepreneurial skill building had significant influence on MSMEs success in Ogun state. MSMEs owners /managers who have developed their entrepreneurial skill through training, workshop or further study will find it so easy to effectively manage the business and record success when compared to the owners/managers who lack those skills and failed to develop it. Therefore, this study recommends that entrepreneurial skill building should be emphasized among MSMEs owners/managers if they are to record success in their businesses. This will assist owners/ managers to put strategies that can bring about MSMEs success in place.

Perceptions of Teaching Staff Regarding Time Management in Making Students' Learning More Efficient

Focusing on time management is essential to making student learning worthwhile. Rigorous time management allows students to discover more controlled than task and activities or activities or daily. Our study aims to investigate teachers' perceptions of managing students' learning time, both in and out of the classroom. Knowing that time management is based on three pillars, namely: planning, organization, and the results of the study highlight the need for students to learn time management with an emphasis on: learning to set priorities, self-monitoring/self-responsibility. management according to a set schedule, the daily distribution of learning times and free time according to one's own needs. At the same time, it is necessary to involve teachers in the formation of effective time management skills and abilities in their students, in order to avoid procrastination. At the same time, the counseling of parents by teachers on the proper management of their children's learning and leisure time is a necessity to make learning more efficient for school-age children.

THE IMPORTANCE OF FINANCIAL EDUCATION AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH ACCOUNTING PRACTICE IN DAILY LIFE

Currently, financial management has become of great importance to the financial market, due to its high degree of complexity, not only for companies but for society as a whole.People's lack of information about the financial market can cause impacts such as debt, loss of assets and economic frustration.The respective article aimed to analyze financial education and accounting practices and the incorporation where these possible areas can cooperate for people's daily financial management.The research used the descriptive bibliographic methodology with a qualitative background.Financial understandings with accounting practices showed us that society can.The research contributes to the understanding of the importance of financial education in the development of management skills and more informed financial decision-making.

Addressing the gap in health data management skills: an online self-guided course for researchers and health professionals

BackgroundThe healthcare sector is rapidly evolving with the rise of digital technology and data-driven decision-making. However, traditional medical education has yet to fully integrate training on managing health-related information, resulting in a significant skills gap among medical and research professionals. This gap is pronounced in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where data privacy concerns and inadequate infrastructure hinder efforts to utilise and share health data.AimsTo address this gap, we developed an online, modular course aimed at providing foundational skills on capturing, storing and sharing health data.MethodsThe course was developed using the ADDIE(Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) instructional design model. A needs assessment workshop involving 25 global health proffesionals identified key training gaps which informed the curriculum’s development. A multidisciplinary team from six institutions developed the modules. The course was piloted in a face-to-face setting with 37 participants and later adapted for online delivery via the Global Health Network platform. We evaluated the course using Level 1 of Kirkpatrick’s model for training evaluation.ResultsSix foundational modules were developed: Introduction to Data Management, Data Quality, Data Repositories, Ethics of Data Sharing, Data Governance, and Costing for Data Management. Between December 2020 and April 2024, 6,384 individuals from 90 countries completed the course. Of these, 32% were from Africa, 15% from Asia, 16% from South/Central America and the Caribbean, and 24% from Europe. Summative evaluations, based on voluntary post-module surveys, demonstrated high relevance to participants’ learning needs (96.6%) and strong intentions to apply the skills gained (88.3%). Key motivators for enrollment included the course’s free access, relevance to professional or academic needs, and trust in the organizations and authors behind the content.ConclusionsThe high enrolment and broad geographical reach demonstrates the potential of online training as a cost-effective tool to equip health practitioners and researchers with data literacy skills. Future evaluations will assess its impact on participants’ knowledge, behavior, and data-sharing and reuse practices.

Stakeholder perspectives on graduates' acquisition of competencies in nursing bachelor's degree programs: A qualitative study

BackgroundIn nursing education, greater emphasis should be placed on stakeholder perspectives, and these perspectives should be integrated into the educational process. Stakeholder perspectives are of great importance in determining the extent to which graduates achieve program competencies, and if necessary, in revising these competencies based on the relevant feedback. ObjectiveThis study aimed to determine stakeholder perspectives on the acquisition of nursing program competencies by graduates of undergraduate nursing programs. DesignExploratory qualitative research design. Participants and settingThe study was conducted in June 2024 through focus group interviews with a total of 20 internal and external stakeholders. MethodsThe data were collected using Semi-Structured Focus Group Interview Forms. The data were organized according to common/similar categories by content analysis. ResultsThe data obtained based on the views of the participants on the acquisition of nursing program competencies by graduates of nursing education programs were divided into three categories: Competencies Acquired from Nursing Education (professional knowledge and skills, lifelong learning), Competencies That Need Improvement (critical thinking/problem-solving skills, communication skills, foreign language proficiency, professional values, and managerial skills), and Suggestions to Improve Competencies Acquired from Nursing Education (suggestions related to education, the profession, and institutional/administrative matters). Additionally, 10 subcategories associated with these categories were identified. ConclusionCompetencies expected in members of the profession of nursing are a global topic of discussion, and the findings of study provide important insights for future studies. In line with these results, it is recommended to enhance collaboration with stakeholders and conduct regular meetings involving all stakeholders. The outcomes of these meetings should guide the structuring of educational programs to ensure the acquisition of competencies, and relevant activities should be planned and implemented accordingly.

Бенчмаркінг як інструмент розвитку та зростання позитивного іміджу територіальних громад

The article analyzes the latest scientific research on the use of benchmarking as a tool in the process of implementing a positive image of territorial communities. The concept of benchmarking, its tools and methods of application in the image strategy of territorial communities are defined. Attention is focused on the possibilities of using benchmarking as an analytical tool capable of identifying best practices and creating competitive advantages when building an image strategy of territorial communities. The possibility of using benchmarking as opposed to strategic planning is revealed, the importance of using its tools and their impact on the process of effective positioning of territorial communities, the growth of their tourist and investment attractiveness. The content of internal and external benchmarking is analyzed on the basis of scientific research. The role of the Government and local governments in the process of creating strategic plans for the development of territorial communities and improving management skills for the implementation of marketing initiatives is emphasized. The main aspects of the application of benchmarking in the context of marketing of territorial communities are presented. The impact of martial law introduced in Ukraine on the use of marketing tools and the importance of applying new experience in uncertain conditions are emphasized. The main aspects of the impact of benchmarking on the development of marketing of territorial communities are highlighted. The results obtained will contribute to the development of modern recommendations for local governments, developers and other stakeholders on the use of marketing approaches in strategies for the development of territorial communities, which will contribute to improving the lives of residents, increasing their competitiveness and attracting investments to territorial communities in wartime and peacetime

UMKM Naik Kelas: Economic Strengthening Strategy Through Product Optimization to Enhance MSMEs Performance

Purpose: Omah Singkong MSMEs focuses on processing frozen tubers and has significant potential in the local economy of Malang City. The purpose of this community service is to provide comprehensive assistance by utilizing technology, especially the vacuum sealer machine, to improve product quality and competitiveness and marketing strategies. Consequently, this MSMEs is expected to expand its market share, increase income, and become a pillar of a sustainable and inclusive local economy. Method: The following methods were used: 1) problem identification; 2) implementation of activities; and 3) program evaluation. These activities were carried out at the Omah Singkong MSMEs, Karangploso, Malang Regency. Practical Applications: The results of this community services activity are evident in the improved quality and competitiveness of Omah Singkong MSMEs products using the Vacuum Sealer machine to improve packaging efficiency and extend the shelf life of frozen products. Moreover, the provided managerial training has a positive impact by enhancing skills in operational management, stock management, and marketing strategies, preparing MSMEs to take a more active role in supporting local economic growth and improving the welfare of society. Conclusion: This community service program improved Omah Singkong MSMEs’ product quality and competitiveness through vacuum sealer technology and managerial training. These enhancements support market expansion, income growth, and the MSMEs’ role in Malang’s local economy.

Client Project Managers’ Knowledge and Skill Competencies for Managing Public Construction Projects

Public construction projects face unique challenges that differ from those encountered in private projects, requiring client project managers to possess specific competencies to ensure successful project delivery. However, many client project managers lack the necessary competencies for effective construction project management. This study aims to identify the essential knowledge and skill competencies required for client-side project managers to effectively manage public construction projects in Saudi Arabia. Data were collected through 74 questionnaires completed by client project managers and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The results reveal that the most critical competencies include leadership, problem-solving, scope management, decision-making, and teamwork. Additionally, the findings indicate that soft skills are more crucial than hard skills for project managers. An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) further grouped these competencies into seven underlying groupings. This study provides valuable insights into the key competencies needed for hiring and assigning client-side project managers in public-sector projects, and the results can guide companies and educational institutions in designing specialized training programs for these managers.

THE BODY'S RESPONSE TO STRESS

Stress, an undeniable reality of everyday life, is a natural reaction of the body to any pressure, threat or demand that requires an intense physical or mental response. It has a positive aspect, "good stress", which can provide additional motivation to complete tasks or face challenges. On the other hand, there is also a negative aspect, excessive stress affecting physical, mental and emotional health. In my opinion, in order to be able to cope with stress, it is important to manage changes, accept failures, put our own needs first, communicate clearly and effectively, eliminate negative thoughts and take emotional risks. Deep understanding and developing stress management skills can significantly contribute to improving the quality of life of each individual

Building capacity to lead: Development implementation and evaluation of a leadership and management education program for nurse leader-managers

Background/Objective: Nurses in leadership and managerial roles require ongoing opportunities to develop their leadership knowledge and skills. Effective nursing leadership contributes to team functioning and healthy work environments, as well as improved outcomes for staff and patients. This paper reports on the development, implementation and evaluation of a Leadership and Management for Nurses Program (LMNP) in Ontario, Canada. The program was designed for novice nurse leader-managers to enhance knowledge and skills necessary to promote competence, confidence, and effectiveness in these roles.Methods: A program evaluation framework was developed to evaluate the LMNP including the degree to which the program supported participants in achieving their leadership goals and the impact of the program on participant leadership and confidence. Upon completion of the program all participants were invited to respond to an electronic evaluation survey exploring both program processes and outcomes. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze survey data.Results: Fifty-four participants responded to the survey. Results suggest that the program length and content were appropriate, contributing to the achievement of leadership learning goals and the development of leadership and managerial skills and knowledge, increased confidence and overall preparedness to lead.Conclusions: Novice nurse leader-managers require support to develop and maintain leadership and managerial competencies, underscoring the importance of providing leadership development opportunities through programs such as the LMNP. Healthcare organizations should consider how best to support ongoing nurse leader-manager development through leadership training and mentorship programs.

Enhancing Community Participation in Government-Funded School Projects in Morogoro Region

The study investigated the strategies for enhancing community participation in government–funded school project in Morogoro region. The study used case study research design to determine the strategies from a total sample of 23 comprising of 10 Head Masters, 1 Ward Councillor, 2 Ward Educational Officers and 10 School Board Chairmen. Semi-structured interviews were used in collecting data which were then analzyed using thematic analysis. The study found that, early community involvement in project design ensures educational initiatives are more relevant, effective and sustainable. Community contributions in constructing classrooms and laboratories, supported by government funding, enhance the academic environment and promote practical learning opportunities, particularly in science. Furthermore, engaging the community in supervising and securing school projects strengthens accountability and fosters a sense of ownership, improving long-term project sustainability. The study recommends that government-funded school projects should actively involve community members from the outset to reflect local needs, encourage participation in building educational facilities through various contributions, provide clear guidelines for overseeing projects, maintain ongoing community engagement for security and upkeep, and implement training programs to enhance management and collaboration skills among school and community leaders.

How to foster interdisciplinary project management efficacy beliefs in Challenge-based Learning? The role of attitudes and student engagement

Collaboration in interdisciplinary projects is essential for working on complex societal challenges. Challenge-based Learning (CBL) enables interdisciplinary learning and aims to prepare learners to tackle societal challenges in interdisciplinary teams. Student engagement in CBL can contribute to the development of relevant self-efficacy beliefs in interdisciplinary project management by targeting sources of self-efficacy in the instructional design. However, this might only be possible in teams sharing a positive perception of interdisciplinarity and the diverse perspectives in their team. This study examines the influence of the perception of interdisciplinary team composition on student engagement (RQ 1) and the influence of student engagement in CBL on interdisciplinary project management efficacy beliefs (RQ 2). In a cross-sectional design, N = 87 students in CBL courses were surveyed using standardized scales. The path model shows significant paths for the perception of interdisciplinary team composition on all components of student engagement. However, the results indicate that not every component of student engagement influences every efficacy belief relevant to interdisciplinary project management. The potential of CBL as an innovative learning environment to stimulate interdisciplinary learning to develop interdisciplinary project management skills is discussed, and implications for research and educational practice are derived.

Empowering entrepreneurial success through the development of interpersonal skills and business plans in women entrepreneurs

Women's entrepreneurial success can be achieved through the development of soft skills and the development of business plans to enhance business management skills. The study evaluated the impact of an entrepreneurial program focused on soft skills and business plan development through a pre-experimental methodology; a pre-and post-test was conducted on 28 women participants of the "Emprende Mujer" group over eight sessions. The main findings revealed a significant improvement in the soft skills of the women, as well as overcoming the lack of knowledge about the structure of a business plan, with a value of (p ≤ 0.05). In conclusion, the business program proved to be effective for women entrepreneurs in search of business sustainability. This study highlights the importance of acquiring soft skills through experience. At the same time, the creation and development of business plans require educational intervention by specialists, as a lack of knowledge in key areas such as marketing and operations can hinder the growth of ventures.

Examining the educational connection and psychological wellness of Chinese EFL students: The functions of productive scaffolding provided by language teachers

The core element of successful language acquisition lies in the active participation of students. When exploring factors that enhance the academic performance of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students, teacher emotional support has always been a focal point of academic research. With the application of positive psychology, researchers are increasingly focusing on emotions, especially positive emotions, as a central role in the Second Language Acquisition (SLA) field. Over the past decade, researchers have particularly focused on the academic engagement and psychological well-being of language learners, considering them as key factors in improving educational quality. However, specific data on how EFL teachers can enhance students’ psychosocial health and academic engagement through emotional support is still insufficient. Therefore, this study used a questionnaire survey to deeply analyze the data of 1968 Chinese EFL students. Specifically, the research results show that the emotional support provided by teachers can explain up to about 74% and 63% of the differences in EFL students’ educational engagement and mental health, respectively. At the same time, this study also constructed a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) model, concluding that the CMIN/DF ratio is less than 4. In addition, the research results further reveal the potential important mediating role of Chinese English teachers’ self-efficacy in their resilience, emotional management skills, and mental health. In summary, these findings highlight the importance of establishing positive teacher-student relationships to promote the comprehensive psychological development of students.

Entrepreneurial Skills Training Needs of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Plateau State

The increasing deadly attacks on various communities in Plateau state and the destruction of lives, properties, businesses and farm lands has forced many inhabitants to flee their homes to nearby towns and villages. This situation calls for urgent intervention to usher in more sober responses to the plight of the internally displaced persons. It is against this backdrop that the study examined the entrepreneurial skills training needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Plateau state. To facilitate the conduct of the study, three specific purposes, three research questions and three null hypotheses were formulated. The descriptive survey design was used. A total of 400 IDPs were surveyed from the five local government areas (Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Bokkos, Mangu and Ryom) using the non-probability sampling. The instrument used for data collection was the Entrepreneurial Skills Training Needs Questionnaire (ESTNQ). The questionnaire was complemented by focus groups discussions across the five LGAs. The instrument went through face and content validation by three experts. The reliability of the instruments was ensured using the Cronbach Coefficient Alpha and the result yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.78. The data collected were analysed using mean and standard deviation. The hypotheses were tested using independent t-test at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that IDPs needed entrepreneurial skills such as managerial skills, financial skills, marketing skills and general business skills for self-reliance. The study further revealed that there was a significant difference between the mean responses of male and female respondent on the entrepreneurial skills, entrepreneurial opportunities and entrepreneurial training methods for IDPs. The study concluded that the scale and complexity of internal displacement in Plateau state means that significant efforts are required to provide an effective and well-coordinated humanitarian response. The study recommended that government and all other stakeholders should as part of their interventions institute entrepreneurial skill training programmes for internally displaced persons.

What works when working together?: Cross-sector collaboration barriers & facilitators of a built environment Health Impact Assessment in Southern Nevada

ABSTRACT Purpose Cross-sector collaboration can improve community health because decisions made across sectors influence health. Health Impact Assessments (HIAs) and other health-focused, cross-sector collaborations encounter challenges. This case study uses a completed HIA to explore factors impeding and supporting health-related cross-sectoral collaboration. Methods Semi-structured key informant interviews with 10 of 12 HIA working group participants were conducted and analysed using a content analysis approach. Results Analysis generated 48 codes across seven themes in three primary groups: HIA as a collaborative tool; logistical and systemic barriers; and benefits and logistical, interpersonal, and sectoral facilitators. Recognizing the importance of knowledge, analysis, and principles outside of one’s field (n = 62) was the most common facilitator. Limited time was the most common barrier (n = 21). Participants discussed more facilitators (n = 303) than barriers (n = 144); perceived multiple benefits (n = 92), including networking and connecting land use and health; and described facilitators like communication, continuity, engagement, project management, compensation, varying perspectives, and diverse skills. They identified coordination challenges, needs to engage more with stakeholders and the community, limited time, and changes among partners as primary barriers. Conclusions Findings can help prepare cross-sector partners about what to expect, aid in mitigating challenges, and further knowledge about what supports and hinders Health in All Policies collaborations.

Kontribusi Magang Terhadap Pengembangan Ketrampilan Hukum (Studi Kasus Di Kantor Pengacara Tri Wira Justitia)

Internship programs have an important role in developing law students' practical skills, especially in preparing them to enter the professional world. This research aims to explore the contribution of internships at Tri Wira Justitia Law Firm to the development of students' legal skills. The method used is a qualitative case study with interviews, observation, and document analysis as data collection techniques. The results showed that the internship program provided significant improvements in case analysis skills, legal document drafting, professional communication, as well as understanding of legal ethics. In addition, the internship also strengthened time management and conflict handling skills. In conclusion, the internship at Tri Wira Justitia Law Firm made a great contribution in preparing students for the world of legal work.

Crafting Engineers for Tomorrow: Aligning Education with Industry to Achieve Sustainable Development

This study addresses the critical gap between engineering education and industry demands, focusing on the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies and experience-based learning frameworks such as the MBKM program in Indonesia. By emphasizing practical skills, project management, and soft skills, this research explores how academic institutions can better prepare students for the challenges of a rapidly evolving, AI-driven workplace while contributing to Sustainable Development Goals. Using a descriptive methodology that combines case studies and literature reviews, the study evaluates the impact of industry collaboration, experiential learning, and curriculum alignment on workforce readiness and graduate employability. Findings highlight the importance of fostering adaptability, innovation, and sustainability in engineering education, ensuring that graduates are equipped to lead and thrive in dynamic professional environments. The study concludes with actionable recommendations for enhancing academia-industry partnerships, embedding lifelong learning, and advancing sustainability principles in engineering curricula, paving the way for a more robust and globally competitive workforce.

SELF-EMOTIONAL MANAGEMENT SKILLS OF PRESCHOOL TEACHERS: A CASE STUDY IN PRESCHOOLS IN BINH XUYEN DISTRICT, VINH PHUC PROVINCE, VIETNAM

Self-emotional management skills for preschool teachers encompass self-recognition of emotions, emotional control, emotional regulation, and effective utilization of emotions. This study focuses on preschool teachers in Binh Xuyen District, Vinh Phuc Province, Vietnam, assessing their self-reported proficiency in these areas. The findings indicate that these teachers generally rate their self-emotional management skills as relatively strong. This serves as a valuable foundation for further skill development, enabling teachers to perform their roles more effectively. Pendampingan Pembukuan, Inventarisasi, dan Pelaporan Barang Milik Daerah dalam Upaya Menciptakan Laporan Keuangan Berkualitas di Kabupaten Pinrang

The demand for the application of Good Governance (GG) principles in regional financial management emphasizes the importance of transparency and accountability, especially in the management of Regional Property (BMD). The Pinrang District Government faces challenges in preparing BMD reports, such as late reporting, incomplete asset data, and suboptimal recording. This program aims to improve the capability of BMD managers in Pinrang Regency through intensive training and mentoring, in accordance with Permendagri No.47 of 2021. The program implementation methods include lectures, hands-on practice, technical assistance, and evaluation. The materials presented covered BMD bookkeeping, inventory, and reporting, with a focus on using the Simda BMD application to improve report efficiency and accuracy. The evaluation results showed that the program succeeded in improving participants' understanding and skills in BMD management. The resulting outputs include more integrated and quality semesterly BMD reports, as well as an increase in the suitability of asset data with physical conditions in the field. With this success, the program made a real contribution in supporting more transparent, accountable, and regulated regional asset governance, as well as strengthening the capacity of the Pinrang Regency Financial and Revenue Management Agency (BPKPD) in overseeing better regional financial management.
