STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT IN IMPROVING EDUCATION QUALITY

One of the most effective methods of enhancing the quality of education is the strategic management approach.Management strategy refers to a technique of organising and managing the affairs of the organisation over a period of time. Within education, strategic management assists the organisations to understand themselves, their internal strengths and weaknesses, their external opportunities and threats as well. Such knowledge and understanding helps educational organisations develop better, effective solutions that aim at optimal learning and human resource development and management of the educational structure. The use of strategic management in educational institutions also brings about ongoing creativity, flexibility to change as well as effective usage of resources. Therefore, adoption of such approaches enables the institutions to continually improve the standard of education which in turn results in better student performance, greater stakeholder return on investment and higher competition of the institution in the market. It is therefore clear that strategic management is quite important in dealing with the problems especially in the present education landscape that is progressively becoming complicated as advanced by these institutions of learning

Pendidikan Islam Transformatif (Menggali Karakteristik Manajemen Perubahan Yang Efektif)

This research aims to determine the characteristics of transformative Islamic education change management. This research is important because the world of Islamic education is faced with globalization, which demands improvements in the management of Islamic education with character. Four main problems were found: (1) what is meant by change management, (2) what is the difference between general and Islamic change management, (3) what are the characteristics of change management in Islamic education, (4) what are examples of its application in facing the global era. Through a qualitative descriptive approach in the form of a literature review, namely by collecting data such as books and journals and analyzing it using content analysis, the research produced findings that the process of creating a sustainable learning culture in organizations is to increase the ability to adapt to change. The difference between general change management and change management in Islamic educational institutions lies in the basis used. General change management is based on the philosophy of naturalism, while Islamic education change management is based on the Koran and the Sunnah of the Prophet. The character is also different, the management of Islamic education is more towards anthropocentric theory. An example of its application is by applying these characters to Islamic education management practices to become transformative Islamic education.

Assessment of female students' perception on access and utilization of water and sanitation facilities for menstruation management in higher education institutions in Uganda

AbstractThe main purpose of this study was to assess female students' perception of access and utilization of water and sanitation facilities for menstruation management in HEIs. A qualitative research design was embraced, and it was exploratory while gathering responses from the participating respondents using semi‐structured interviews, focus group discussions and observation from course coordinators from six faculties, students guild leadership, and selected university managers who were purposively selected and regarded to be more knowledgeable with university affairs as far as learners' social welfare was concerned. The study found that many students did not have adequate access to water and sanitation facilities for menstruation management. They also lack adequate menstrual hygiene management education and their rights to sanitation and water facilities for menstruation management in terms of the menstrual cycle, the importance of washing body parts, and the issue of stigma during the menstruation period. The study recommended that the Directorate of Gender at the university should review and work very closely with the Department of Estates and Works to improve the maintenance and provision of water and sanitation facilities for menstruation management.

Management of Digital-Based Educational Institutions in Indonesia

This study aims to describe the management of digital-based educational institutions in Indonesia. The research approach uses SLR on 120 articles, then becomes 60 articles, is filtered into 25 articles, and from 25 articles 6 articles are taken as the main data source. The method in the literature review uses three databases, namely Scopus, Google Scholar, and Eric because they are relevant to the field of education. Then the inclusion and exclusion criteria, filtering, eligibility, data extraction and analysis are carried out. The results of the study show: (1) Discussions related to the management of digital-based educational institutions by current researchers focus more on aspects of archiving, digital literacy skills, educational infrastructure, learning processes, management of educational institutions, and marketing of educational institutions; (2) So far, there has been minimal management of digital-based educational institutions in Indonesia which occurs due to several factors discussed. Indonesia focuses more on digital learning and assessment.

Towards Good Governance in the Management of Educational Institutions in Cameroon: Importance, Challenges and Opportunities

Purpose: This conceptual paper explored the path toward institutionalisation of good governance in the management of educational institutions in Cameroon. Aim was to identify key principles, assess challenges to effective governance, and explore opportunities for improvement, with the view to offer actionable recommendations that could help enhance educational management in Cameroon. Materials and Methods: A qualitative approach that combines personal observations with a comprehensive textual review was employed. The review examined national and international policy documents, strategic plans, reports and academic articles to clarify theoretical constructs and practical applications of good governance in education. Recommendations were based on personal reflections and literature analysis. Findings: The education sector has evolved from being simpler and less competitive to a complex, competitive and more demanding landscape, requiring technology and advanced management strategies centered on governance principles like transparency and accountability. In Cameroon, historical, socio-economic, political, and structural challenges hinder the establishment of good governance in education. However, there is room for educational managers to navigate these realities and promote effective governance, which is essential for unlocking education’s transformative potential and achieving socioeconomic development goals. Implications to Theory, Practice and Policy: The various ministries of education should work in synergy with the other stakeholders to implement a comprehensive training programme for educational managers; invest more resources in educational technology for better administrative efficiency; strengthen monitoring and auditing of expenditures; and enhance the capacity of decentralised management structures to effectively address local needs. These strategies should help create a more accountable and responsive education management framework for Cameroon.

RISK MANAGEMENT IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS:EXISTING RESEARCH FRONTIERS AND THEIR APPLIED EXTRAPOLATION

This article focuses on the analysis of published research on risk management in higher education institutions. The authors believe that for effective implementation of risk management in Kazakhstani universities and the development of a concept for its scientific and methodological support, a systematic and large-scale research effort is necessary. This includes identifying the categorical framework of risk management in higher education. In this context, the authors conducted a bibliometric analysis usingthe Scopus database, as well as the methodological approach and capabilities of the VOSviewer software tool. The study of sources on the issue of risk management in universities revealed insufficient development of this topic from methodological positionsand in the applied context. Additionally, the bibliometric analysis not only identified and visualized current research directions in this field but also highlighted trends for future research in the subject areas of "risk management," "university management," and "risk management in higher education institutions."

The education system in Indonesia is experiencing rapid development characterised by an increase in the number of schools, students, and the complexity of the teaching and learning process. To manage academic data that includes information on students, teachers, grades, attendance, and class schedules, schools need to improve the quality of their services. Education is an important aspect of the country's development, and in this context, Academic Information System (AIS) plays a vital role in supporting administration and management in educational institutions. This research focuses on SMP NU Medan, where the need for an efficient and integrated AIS is increasingly urgent to improve the quality of education services. With the rapid development of information technology, the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method is the right choice because it allows rapid and iterative application development. In addition, Web-based AIS provides wide accessibility for education stakeholders, including making it easier for prospective students to access information and register online. The case study at SMP NU Medan provides a strong foundation for this research by identifying specific needs and coming up with solutions that are relevant and can be implemented immediately. This research aims to design, implement, and evaluate a Web-based AIS using the RAD method, so that it can make a positive contribution in improving the efficiency, accuracy, and quality of service of the school.

DETERMINING STUDENT'S ONLINE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE USING MACHINE LEARNING TECHNIQUES

Predicting student's academic performance during online learning has been considered a major task during the pandemic period. During the online mode of learning, academic activities have been affected in such a way that the management of educational institutions has planned to design support systems for predicting the student's performance to reduce the dropout ratio of the students and bring improvement in academic activities. During COVID-19, the main challenge is maintaining student's grades by predicting their academic performance using different techniques such as Education Data Mining and Learning Analytics. Different features have been identified related to the teaching mechanisms in online learning, which have a great impact on the improvement of academic performance. A high-quality dataset helps us to generate productive results, which in turn helps us to make effective decisions for promoting high-quality education. In this research, five prediction models for predicting academic performance have been proposed by collecting an imbalanced dataset of 350 students from the same computer science domain. After applying pre-processing techniques for cleaning the data, machine learning models have been applied, including K-Nearest Neighbor Classifier, Decision Tree, Random Forest, Support Vector Classifier, and Gaussian Naive Bayes. Results have been predicted for an imbalanced and balanced dataset after feature selection. Support Vector classifier has produced the best results in a balanced dataset with selected features by giving an accuracy of 96.89%.

The article explores the role of information and digital technologies (IGT) in the formation of quality education management in secondary educational institutions. The author notes that in the modern world, the development of IGT has a significant impact on all areas of life, including education. The implementation of IGT in secondary educational institutions can contribute to improving the quality of education by enhancing the organization of the learning process, providing access to information resources, increasing student motivation for learning, and ensuring effective communication among all participants in the educational process. The article investigates the application of Deming’s recommendations, known as one of the pioneers in quality management, to educational institutions, particularly schools. An analysis of Deming’s fundamental principles and recommendations, such as a focus on continuous improvement, a systematic approach, leadership commitment, problem-solving based on facts and data, and promoting collaboration and interaction, is conducted. The article emphasizes the importance of quality management systems that help educational institutions effectively manage the quality of education, such as the PDCA methodology and Lean approaches. The author examines specific steps for implementing the IGT utilization strategy in education, including the creation of an integrated information-analytical system, the implementation of an electronic reporting system, the use of electronic textbooks and educational materials, providing access to electronic resources, organizing remote learning, involving students in active participation, and supporting the professional development of teachers. Overall, the article elucidates the importance and role of IGT in shaping the quality management of education in secondary educational institutions. The integration of IGT into the educational process contributes to improved learning organization, the creation of favorable conditions for student development, enhanced communication efficiency, and expanded access to information resources.

Islamic educational institutions are containers or places where the Islamic education process takes place. The type of research used in this research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. In general, there are three types of data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the research include 1. Steps to implement the development of educational institutions at MTs Islamiyah YPI Batang Kuis through 4 stages. The first step in the diagnosis stage, the head of the madrasah conducts in-depth research on the problems to be faced. In the second stage of intervention, the madrasa head takes action to overcome the problem so that the problem can be resolved. The third stage of evaluation, by evaluating the research results. Fourth is the maintenance stage, by maintaining the results that have been obtained from the process of change towards improvement, it can be maintained and perfected since its establishment. 2. The model for developing educational institutions at MTs Islamiyah YPI Batang Kuis madrasa which implements full day, and uses two curricula at once, namely the Ministry of National Education curriculum and the Ministry of Religion Curriculum.

Inventory management and consumable materials in educational institutions, particularly at the Faculty of Health at Nurul Jadid University, face significant challenges. Current manual recording and reporting methods are prone to errors, leading to operational inefficiencies and financial risks, especially given the high cost of medical equipment. In addition, unrecorded inventory data can be lost, and consumable materials can either run out prematurely or accumulate unused. Lack of transparency and accuracy in tracking further complicated planning and decision-making. QR Code technology and the Django Python framework are widely used in other industries; however, their application in education, particularly healthcare, remains underexplored. Unlike previous studies that primarily focused on commercial applications, this study delves into the underexamined area of healthcare inventory management in educational settings, offering a scalable and efficient solution using modern technology. This study addresses these empirical and research gaps by developing a QR Code-based inventory system using Django Python to manage consumable materials at the Faculty of Health. The proposed system enhances efficiency, accuracy, and transparency by providing real-time data for better decision-making. The evaluation will focus on reliability, user-friendliness, ease of access, response time, and user satisfaction. This research not only contributes to the literature on technology applications in education but also provides a practical model for other institutions.

Modernization of the Motivation Systems in Higher Education: Challenges and Digital Solutions

The motivation of academic staff in higher education institutions has become a critical issue, particularly in the context of rapid digital transformation. Faculty motivation is a crucial factor influencing the quality of education, research productivity, and the performance of universities. This study aimed to identify the main factors influencing motivation and to develop recommendations for educational institutions to enhance staff motivation. The research utilized bibliometric analysis through the VOSviewer program to explore relationships between core motivational factors. Initial data were collected via the ePORTAL system, which aggregates comprehensive information about faculty activities, including publications, participation in scientific projects, and teaching performance. The findings suggest that the current motivational systems in Kazakhstan's higher education institutions require significant modernization. Key challenges include insufficient financial support, excessive bureaucratic procedures, and limited career development opportunities. Moreover, adopting digital tools like ePORTAL can enhance the transparency and objectivity of assessing teaching staff performance, providing more substantial incentives for professional growth. The study offers recommendations for university management of educational institutions to increase academic staff motivation that can be adapted to each educational institution's unique profile and priorities. Future research should investigate the long-term effects of digitalization on teaching quality and explore how motivation strategies can be fine-tuned to address regional and institutional disparities. Such efforts will ensure faculty development aligns with national and international educational standards, ultimately enhancing the competitiveness and effectiveness of universities in a global context.

Strategy Implementation in Conflict Management to Prevent Violence in Transportation Education Institutions

Education is a fundamental basis for building national civilization. Educational institutions in the transportation sector continue to transform to enhance the quality of education. In connection with the violence in the educational environment, it is vital to carry out this study to provide an overview for the community, teaching, and education staff, and educational policymakers, especially in the transportation sector. The study was carried out using a method in the form of a literature study also called a literature review. The results of this study include: 1) Conflicts in educational institutions usually occur between individuals, groups, or between parts of the environment; 2) Conflict management in educational institutions can be conducted by mediating promptly to prevent conflicts from escalating.; and 3) Implementation of conflict management strategies can be done by creating professional code of ethics learning policies and routine activities to increase team collaboration outdoors (outbound).

Financial Capacity of Indonesian Schools and Community Learning Centers in Kota Kinabalu: A Comparative Analysis

This study aims to analyze the financial capacity of Indonesian Schools (SIKK) and Community Learning Centers (CLC) in Kota Kinabalu, focusing on the comparison of resources and financial management strategies. The research was motivated by the fundamental differences in access to and management of funds between these two types of educational institutions, which potentially impact the quality of education provided. A qualitative research approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and analysis of financial documents from SIKK and CLC. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to identify key patterns and differences in financial capacity between the two institutions. The findings reveal that SIKK has a more stable and structured financial capacity compared to CLC, which often faces uncertainties in funding. This instability is attributed to CLC's reliance on inconsistent funding sources, while SIKK benefits from greater government support. These findings highlight the need for a more sustainable and equitable funding model for CLCs to ensure their ability to provide quality education. The implications of this study suggest that improving financial capacity and better management in educational institutions can significantly impact the delivery of more equitable and high-quality education. Stakeholders, including the government and non-governmental organizations, should consider these recommendations in future educational policy planning.

The Impact of Working Capital Management on Financial Performance: Evidence from Sokoine University of Agriculture

This study aims to investigate the effects of working capital management (WCM) components on financial performance of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), focusing on how variations in the Average Collection Period (ACP), Average Payment Period (APP), Inventory Conversion Period (ICP), and Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC) influence financial performance measured in Gross Operating Profit (GOP). The study adopted a longitudinal research design utilizing a time series data from SUA’s annual financial statements covering the fiscal years 2013/14 to 2022/23. A multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to assess the effects of the WCM components on GOP, providing a comprehensive understanding of their financial implications. From the analysis, it was revealed that lnACP and lnCCC are negatively associated with GOP, indicating that delays in receivables collection and extended cash conversion cycles diminish financial performance. Conversely, lnAPP is positively related to GOP, suggesting that longer payment periods for liabilities can enhance financial performance. A longer lnICP also negatively impacts GOP, underscoring the need for effective inventory management. Moreover, this study offers fresh insights into the financial management practices at SUA, highlighting the significant effect of WCM on institutional profitability. By providing evidence of how different components of WCM affect financial outcomes, it delivers practical recommendations for improving financial performance through strategic management of working capital. The research contributes valuable knowledge to both academic and practical discussions on financial management in educational institutions.
