This symposium will present the personal reflections of three distinguished geriatric psychiatrists and AAGP members (Drs. Dan Blazer, Dilip Jeste, and Rita Hargrave) through recorded digital video interviews focused on their personal life journey and work. We will ask them to speak on successful aging as they reflect on their personal lived experiences and/or their professional work over their careers, and how their personal experiences and/or professional clinical work or research in geriatric mental health impacted them as they navigated their own experiences with aging. These narratives can inspire the audience to reflect about how to incorporate strength-based approaches in their own personal approach to aging and in the work they do in geriatric mental health, while also providing an archive for AAGP as an organization by recording personal reflections on successful aging from three pioneers in our field. This symposium is sponsored by the AAGP's IDEA committee.
