Private Universities are not new dimension in the Bangladeshi concept. The concepts are very much established and provided quality education. Libraries are the essential elements to provide quality education. This study took an initiative to study the management and information systems of private university libraries on the basis of experience, observation and group study of the library professional. The study found that maximum libraries of the private universities are provided quality services to its users and establish good management systems.

Implementation of KOHA Integrated Library Management System in Wollega University Main Library, Nekemte

KOHA is widely used library automation software in the world and it has the provisions for all library operation. This paper appraised the implementation of Koha in Wollega University Library and went further to enumerate and discuss the challenges faced in the implementation of Koha and provided solutions to some of the challenges faced. This paper aims to elaborate the method of installation of koha, steps towards data migration from Excel to KOHA and upgrading process of KOHA version from 17.05 to 19.05.05. This is a descriptive paper of a case study conducted at Wollega University, Nekemte. The paper identifies several issues concerning data migration within a local scenario and elaborates how koha software installed and customised for university needs. The lesson learnt and the experience gained would stand to implement a similar kind of system at various places. Trend analysis of library book circulation of the Open University of Sri Lanka

This study examined the book circulation pattern of the main library of the Open University of Sri Lanka with the aim of identifying the pattern of circulation of printed books. Moreover, this study analyzes the subject wise variation of users’ demand during the 05 years and explores the internal factors affecting the process of book borrowing. The study covers the 05 years from 2014-2018 periods for the analysis. This study applied the quantitative research approach and the secondary data taken from the “Koha” Library Management system for the period of 2014 to 2018 was taken for the study. Data presented through descriptive statistics such as percentages, frequency, and correlation analysis with graphical representations. The results of the study indicated that the total annual book borrowings have been declined over the years in parallel to the falling rate of annual book borrowers. Literature, technology and social sciences were the subject areas with the highest demand and religion, history & geography, and arts were the least in- demand categories over the last 05 years from 2014 to 2018. It could be identified that education was the only subcategory with an increasing rate of book borrowing. It is important to carry out a study to explore possible causes for the decline in book borrowings and changes that took place in the information-seeking behavior of the library users.

Improved management of reading houses in the Ar-Ridlo Mosque, Belung Village, Poncokusumo, Malang District. The application used is SLIMS 8. The Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS) is an open source library management system (library management system) licensed under GPL v3. The steps we have taken are making a cataloging module, making a tracking module, creating a circulation module, making a membership management module, making a collection inventory module, making a series of serial management modules and a workshop on reading house management based on Slims 8. A management workshop has been conducted with material install programs, carry out an inventory of books, register members, save and borrow activities, member card printing and book numbers

Innovative application of knowledge management in organizational restructuring of academic libraries: A case study of Peking University Library

A traditional library’s functions are centered on library collection and information resources and their utilization. A library management system comprises resource acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, reading, and reference in respect of “literature streams.” Functionally, libraries have currently evolved into knowledge service centers, which are oriented toward knowledge, committed to knowledge innovation, and centered on the knowledge demands of users. Meanwhile, library management has also gradually shifted to focus on knowledge management. However, the applications of knowledge management are mainly limited to library services. It lacks innovative applications in internal management such as business flow and institutional settings. This article takes Peking University Library, one of the top-notch academic libraries in China, as a case study to explore this issue. Through restructuring its organization and re-setting its staff positions based on the “knowledge stream” as the core, the academic library intends to satisfy the knowledge demands of different types of users and create an environment in favor of knowledge flow and innovation. All of these efforts further support the development of the university.

Usage and awareness of OPAC by faculty of university library, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad

OPAC is an interactive search module of an automated library management system. Any type of reading materials is searched directly from the managed database of the library. Catalogue is the face of the libraries and the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) changed the conventional card catalogue structure. This paper presents and analysis online public access catalogue services provided by University library, university of agricultural sciences, Dharwad. It also discusses the purpose, frequency, awareness on use of OPAC. The result of the study shows that the faculties of UASD are aware about use of OPAC and regularly using to trace the library holdings by Title, Author, Subject, etc.

A Smart Ammunition Library Management System Based on Raspberry Pie

Based on the requirements of the ammunition management system, this paper designs and implements a raspberry-based intelligent ammunition library management system, which realizes the collection of environmental information and surveillance video images through the mobile app client. Camera modules, sensors and other devices pass through the serial port. Connected to the MCU, after the Raspberry Pi collects the information, it sends the data to the specified IP address and port through the SOCKET thread in the form of data stream. The mobile client (APP) also receives the data sent by the Raspberry Pi through the SOCKET thread. And display the collected data. Through actual tests, it shows that the design meets the expected requirements.

Designing a library management system for Gazi Husrev-beg library using data structure and algorithm

Islamic manuscripts, documents, and religious books go way back in the early ages. These have been preserved at Balkans in the library named Gazi Husrev-beg, Library in an extensive manner. The premises are situated in the vicinity of a mosques complex called Sarajevo where the massive collection is articulated and catalogued in a brand new manner. It has a rich database in learning the Ottoman Empire and more specifically the Balkans in precision. The library was officially started in 2014 stating to be a state-of-art for the aspirers, researchers, historians, archeologists and every enthusiast as well as for general public. This research paper is devised in order to formulate a structure for library management system that can help preserve the age old assets like books, manuscripts, journals, articles, DVDs, etc. Everything is electronically managed and stored in a peculiar format. In order to keep a note on the entire system, the structure is beneficial to students, professors, librarians, public visitors etc. The process of issuing a given entity (book, or journal, or manuscript or anything from the library) and returning is kept a digital track and predefined penalty is cited to the individual if the returning of entity is late, or damaged, or misplaced. To maintain this procedure in a manual format might be confusing and tedious. To overcome the stress of maintaining this manually, a data structure is prepared, and algorithms are formed to get access of the library from multiple places of Gazi Husrev-beg Library.

Implementation of database using python flask framework

This paper is aimed at development of a college database management system that can be used in any educational institution. Python flask framework is used to implement this application, that can be accessed throughout the institution or by any specific department of the institution. This system offers different features to the students and the members of the staff which includes attendance and marks of the students that can be accessed by both student and staff but can be only updated by staff of particular department . Students as well as staffs have separate logins that can be accessed by them easily . The system also includes a library management system which works in real time,a micro transport management system and a training and placement management system.Library management system keeps track of the books issued and also calculates the fine generated for delay in book returning and transport system maintains the record of each student i.e bus number ,route of that bus etc . A separate system for analysing the placement record of the college is also present . This system is developed to maintain and facilitate easy access to information to every member associated with this system. For this the users must be registered with the system after which they can access their accounts as well as modify data as per the permissions given to them.
 Python flask framework is the technology that we have used to develop the college management system. Flask is a web framework written in python. It can be classified into microframework because it does not require any particular tolls or libraries. However flask supports extension that can add application features . For frontend we have used HTML,CSS and javascript whereas for backend we have used python flask and mysql.This system helps college and universities to save time , money and resources.

Business Intelligence in the Service of Libraries

This paper describes implementation of business intelligence tools in the libraries. A complete procedure for building a data warehouse is described on the case study of the BISIS library management system. During development of a data warehouse model, user requirements about reporting are detected and structure of already existing transactional databases in the BISIS system is analysed. Based on this analysis, three data warehouse models have been proposed that would satisfy the requirements for analytical processing of data. The paper presents the usage of one OLAP tool, but the proposed data warehouse model is independent of the choice of OLAP tools and any other tool can be integrated with the proposed data warehouse.

An Effective And Robust Computerized Library Management System

Earlier Librarian needs to keep the track of books manually which consumes more time. With the advancement of new technology, Library Management System which aims in developing a computerized system that manages and stores the books information electronically. In this paper we provide an efficient access over library system application that was developed through ServiceNow platform. In ServiceNow platform we can easily develop the applications and automate the things in very less time.[1]The main purpose of this paper is to provide an easy access to library. And also to provide the details of library books, issue of books and notify the user about due dates of book being issued. This application helps the user to access the information of the books which saves time and energy. Errors are also avoided by allowing the system to keep the track of information such as issue date, due date to return the book by sending notifications to the user. In this application we have used the concepts like Form Designer,Service portal, Client Scripts, Notifications, Events and Scheduled scripts.[2]Thus, this application reduce manual work to a great extent and allows smooth flow of library activities.

The Usefulness of Available ICT Resources in Higher Education Institutions in Providing Services Related to Online Database Systems

The study aimed at assessing the usefulness of available ICT resources in providing services related to online database systems in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Tanzania to support academic research and consultancy which are core activities of higher education learning institutions. To attain this objective, the study adopted quantitative and qualitative methods approach in which a survey was run across 12 HEIs in Tanzania. A total of 595 students, and 149 Academic Staff participated in this study. Staff and Students were respondents for this study and the total turn up was 88.57%. Six (6) questions were prepared to address this objective - these are questions related to Wireless internet connection, computer laboratories, internet connection speed, e-book library, Library Management Systems and Library staff help desks. Findings show that available ICT resources in HEIs are useful in providing services related to online database systems in HEIs in Tanzania

Effectiveness of RFID Technology in Library Management System in Bangladesh

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in library management system and services in Bangladesh. This study followed survey and interview methods of data collection through a structured questionnaire. The population of study was all nine libraries in Bangladesh where RFID technology has been installed. The study reveals that all nine libraries are using RFID technology, namely, anti-theft detection Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) gate, staff-work station and RFID tag. In addition to these, some of them are using kiosk, converter, level printer, book drop station, digital library assistance (DLA) and RFID smart card for entrance. The significance numbers of library users employ the RFID system and services and it is increasing gradually, but some of the RFID machines like level printer, book drop station and DLA are under-utilized because of lack of trained staff, patron’s doubt on new technology and less demand on using them in house-keeping library operation.

Intelligent Electronic Management of Library by Radio Frequency Identification Technology

In the information era, the knowledge learned in the campus can hardly meet the needs of the society, so the library has become one of the choices for people to supplement their knowledge. With the increasing demand for libraries, the traditional library management method has been difficult to support the demand. In order to promote the intelligent transformation of the library, the basic structure and principle of Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFID) technology were briefly introduced in this paper, and the intelligent library management system based on RFID was also introduced. Then the library of Huaqiao University was divided into two regions, and the performance of collection counting, book query and passage efficiency of traditional library management based on magnetic stripe together with bar code and intelligent library management based on RFID were compared. The results showed that the collection counting efficiency of intelligent libraries was much higher than that of traditional libraries, the high accuracy and stability of book query avoided the dislocation and chaos like traditional libraries, and there was no congestion even during rush hours because of the higher passing efficiency.

AUDIT TATA KELOLA SENAYAN LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (SLIMS) MENGGUNAKAN FRAMEWORK COBIT 5.0

Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS) adalah Open Source perangkat lunak sistem manajemen perpustakaan (library management system) berbasis web. Tata Kelola SLiMS memerlukan kegiatan audit untuk mengukur Capability Leve lsaat ini dan memberikan rekomendasi untuk proses perbaikan untuk masa yang akan dating pada Perpustakaan SMAN 1 Abung Semuli.
 Metode yang yaitu Framework COBIT 5.0 karena berfokus pada sasaran bisnis dan merupakan alat manajerial dant eknikal.Audit yang dilakukan untuk Tata Kelola SLiMS ini berfokus pada Domain Process EDM2, EDM3, APO4, BAI2, DSS4 dan MEA1.
 Hasil pengukuran bernilai 2,54 dikarenakan index pembulatan nilai maka hasil berada di level 3 (Established Process) yaitu saat ini proses tata kelola pada setiap Domain Process telah terdefinisi dan terstandarisasi dengan baik sehingga system SLiMS stabil untuk di implementasikan, sedangkan level yang diharapkan berada pada level 4 sehingga terjadi Gap sebesar 1,45. Untuk dapat mengatasi Gap yang ada, maka dibuatlah sebuah rekomendasi yaitu agar memaksimalkan keselarasan SOP Tata Kelola Perpustakaan dengan kebijakan yang berlaku

RFID Technology Based Library Management System

The present invention demonstrates the designing of an automated library system which is based on RFID Technology. The system helps in reducing staff requirement, increasing the efficiency of the management, reducing cost, increasing accuracy and security of the management. In the system RFID technology is explained as an application for library management system which is extremely helpful to implement such an automated library management system. The system includes 3 layers for operation wherein these are a hardware system, a software system, and ware layer. The functioning of each and every module is described in the projected paper. The project is implemented for university/college/school libraries. The system explains whole functioning starting from and ending to circulation of books.

Strategi Pengembangan Rumah Baca Asma Nadia Sumbang

Asma Nadia is a reading house at Sumbang Subdistrict, Banyumas Regency, Central Java which started on May 26th , 2016. There were nine volunteers at the reading house. The objective of reading house was to increase reading interest and build mental character especially for children. In fact, the reading interest was high but it was not supported with adequate reading house facilities. The limited reading space in reading house made them to shift another area. In addition, the collection of books was limited as well. In terms of library management, there were many unrecorded and unclassified books and ability of volunteers to use information technology were relatively low. Morover, In terms of funding, there had been several efforts made by volunteers such as selling drinks or making paper flower but those were undeveloped well. So, by those problems, some programs had been created such as training Senayan Library Management System (SLIMS) software, classifying and labelling books, holding on e-commerce business communication strategies workshop and children writing competition. The generated outcome from the internal community activities were implemented for library information systems, publications on ISSN community service of scientific journal, and online publication.
