Catalyzing Development in Agricultural-Based Regions: Exploring the Impact of Business Licensing, Governance, and Public Trust in the Agricultural Logistics

Various reports state that investment in the ASEAN region has a good future, especially investment in the agricultural sector in general. One of the important instruments in investment is the permits obtained, which are widely reported to influence good governance and the level of public trust in licensing actors. The research aims to reveal the effects of implementing easy permits, and public trust in good governance, by taking cases as the latest research in agricultural-based areas. The research uses a quantitative paradigm, taking cases in Southeast Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The sample size of 100 people was determined purposively. An important finding that is a scientific contribution is the proof that ease of business licensing can create public trust, and good governance, as well as the public trust that is formed can improve good governance, especially in areas that generally operate in the agricultural sector. The practical consequence is that every government, to absorb investment activities in the future, must strengthen good governance created through ease of doing business and creating public trust.

The general objective of the Family Hope Program (PKH) is to reduce poverty, increase the accessibility of poor people to public services, especially education and health. PKH targeting is based on Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) which is an update of the results of the Social Protection Program Data Collection (PPLS). Efforts to improve the welfare of the poor often stumble over fundamental problems related to data collection. Problems that arise from data not being in sync are inclusion errors and exclusion errors. As a result, the aid distributed is not on target and does not even fulfill the citizens' sense of justice. As a result, the level of public trust in the government decreases. This research aims to obtain an overview of the impact of data collection on public trust. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection methods using interviews and secondary data analysis. The research results show that there are still very poor household (RTSM) in Cunca Lolos Village that have not yet become beneficiary group (KPM) PKH. This exclusion error occurs because the data collection and data updating process has not been carried out in the DTKS. The impact on the issue of public trust among citizens. Public trust and state management of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria

The COVID-19 pandemic generated an unprecedented global crisis with long-lasting consequences. In this study, I examine the bi-directional nexus between public trust and the management of the pandemic in Nigeria. I argue that there is a relationship between government management of public policies and the level of public trust. The research draws on the Theory of Trust, in-depth interviews (IDI), and focus group discussions (FGD) and is supported by other secondary sources. I found that the main reason for citizens’ resistance to major policies introduced to contain the spread of the pandemic was due to an entrenched lack of trust in the government, its agencies, and officials. The findings also indicate that a lack of transparency and accountability in the management of the pandemic deepened the already fractured public trust. This was particularly visible in the shrouded pattern of disbursing cash transfers, allegations of corruption against the managers of the pandemic, and evidence of concealed palliatives meant to cushion the negative economic effects of the pandemic. The article recommends that the government needs to promote public trust by adopting an open governance approach that institutionalises transparency and accountability, fosters constant and consistent citizen engagement on government policies and programmes, strengthens critical agencies, and engenders a sense of belonging for all citizens.

Konsep Good Governance Dalam Transparansi Anggaran Dana Partai Politik Perspektif Fiqh Siyasah

The level of public trust in political parties in Indonesia is currently experiencing a decline due to the lack of transparency by political parties regarding financial reports, activities, and the membership structure of political parties. This is exacerbated by many individuals within political parties who are involved in corruption cases or misappropriation of party funds. As a result, the public expects that the budgets of political organizations must be transparent for the public to trust political parties, which are organizations that reflect the hopes and desires of society. The current study seeks to grasp political parties' attempts to attain budget transparency to actualize the concept of good governance from the standpoint of fiqh siyasah. This study is a juris-normative study, which is a legal study that is constructed conceptually through law-in-books by exploring legal and non-legal literature. According to the findings of this study, budget transparency in political parties is one aspect of achieving good governance. In fiqh siyasah, budget transparency is an obligation as ordered by Allah SWT through QS. al-Baqarah (2): 282 and 283. In addition, some hadiths describe the nature of Abu Bakr Ash Siddiq's openness in managing the finances of Baitul Mal. Therefore, transparency of the fund's budget is an obligatory effort by every political party in Indonesia to ensure good governance.

The relationship between the socio-economic status of judges and public trust in the judicial system is a critical aspect of modern governance. The aim of this study is to identify and analyze the relationship between the socio-economic status of judges and the level of public trust in the judicial system. To achieve this, it is necessary, firstly, to define the concept and structure of socio-economic status in general and to identify the main factors influencing it in relation to judges. Secondly, to investigate the socio-economic mechanisms shaping public trust in the judicial system. Thirdly, to develop recommendations for its improvement. Analysis of judges’ socio-economic status reveals a correlation between their level of education, income, and the prestige of the court in which they serve. Furthermore, public perception surveys indicate a lack of trust in the judicial system, with concerns raised about the perceived inflated incomes of judges. The findings underscore the importance of addressing socio-economic disparities among judges and enhancing transparency in judicial processes to foster greater public trust. Recommendations for improving public trust in the judicial system include measures to address income disparities, promote accountability, and enhance communication between the judiciary and the public.

Financial worry and government responses to the COVID-19 pandemic in 88 Countries: Did public confidence in National Governments matter?

During the COVID-19 pandemic, governments implemented various measures to control the spread of the virus, enhance healthcare systems, and mitigate the economic impact of these actions. In this study, we investigate how government responses to COVID-19, in terms of stringency and economic support, affected individuals' financial worries in 88 economies. We also investigate how the relationship between these variables was affected by the public’s confidence in the government. Our results suggest that greater stringency was associated with increased financial worry, irrespective of public trust in the government. Meanwhile, the impact of economic support policies varied with the level of public trust in the government. In countries where citizens reported high levels of confidence in their government, economic support to households helped to alleviate financial worry. In countries with low confidence levels, the support policies had no statistically significant impact.

Implementation of the Transparency Principles and Accountability of Indonesian Zakat Management Organizations through Providing Information and Financial Reports on the Website

Zakat has an important role in driving social and economic welfare in Indonesia. However, to ensure its effectiveness, it is important to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of zakat by Zakat Management Organizations (OPZ). This study aims to explore the implementation of transparency and accountability principles of OPZ in Indonesia through the provision of information and financial reports on their websites. Using descriptive qualitative method, data was obtained from 12 LAZNAS that published their financial reports for 2019-2021. The results show that most OPZs have not maximally utilized the internet for financial information. However, OPZs that have published financial reports on their respective websites can be categorized as "good" in implementing accountability and transparency. Suggestions include increasing the utilization of the website by OPZ, the establishment of regulations by related institutions, and supervision by the government to improve OPZ accountability. Thus, it is expected that the level of public trust in OPZ can increase, supporting the acceptance of zakat, infaq and sadaqah.

E-government Implementation in Calamba Water District and Public Trust: Basis for Enhancement Program

The research comprehensively analyzed the relationship between the e-government implementation of Calamba Water District (CWD) and the level of public trust among the concessionaires. It also delved into the challenges faced by concessionaires in utilizing CWD e-government services and the factors influencing their trust in its implementation. The study employed a descriptive-correlational design and surveyed 397 CWD concessionaires in Calamba, Laguna, who had internet access and were actively engaged with CWD e-government services. Data collection was facilitated using a carefully selected research instrument and was analyzed using statistical treatments including simple mean, Four-point Likert Scale, standard deviation, and Pearson r. The research revealed a significant correlation between CWD's egovernment implementation and the level of public trust among concessionaires. Specifically, the study revealed a substantial link between the level of e-government implementation in terms of ICT infrastructure, online services communication, human capital, privacy and security risks, ease of use, and usefulness of egovernment services and public trust level among the concessionaires in terms of information, service, system quality, technology, and the government institution. It indicated that the higher the level of egovernment implementation, the higher the public trust level among the concessionaires. Based on these findings, the study recommended an enhancement program to improve various aspects of the current egovernment implementation of Calamba Water District. The proposed program focuses on addressing privacy and security risks, enhancing the user-friendliness of CWD e-government services, improving service quality related to ICT infrastructure and online communication, and enhancing the competency of CWD personnel. These enhancements are expected to bolster the overall program and ultimately increase public trust among concessionaires.

СУЧАСНІ ТЕХНОЛОГІЇ ЗАЛУЧЕННЯ ФІНАНСУВАННЯ СОЦІАЛЬНИХ ІНІЦІАТИВ

The article discusses the development and establishment of crowdfunding as a modern technology for raising funds for the implementation of social projects and initiatives. The term "Crowdfunding" should be understood as a model of collective financing or collective cooperation of a large number of people who voluntarily pool their financial and other resources, mainly via the Internet, to support projects, organizations, other people, etc. The results of the study confirmed the conclusion that funding for social initiatives is decreasing not only in Ukraine but also abroad; the main reasons for this decrease are changing priorities in activities, financial problems of donors, etc. In the context of war, the main advantages of the crowdfunding model of fundraising, compared to traditional ones, include the following: the ability to accumulate a significant amount of resources from a large number of investors, the ability to determine the areas of expenditure more broadly, the speed of receiving funds, greater transparency of information about investment objects, accountability and responsibility of companies to the community of investors or donors, the presence of social impact, and the possibility of wider use of digital tools. Therefore, one of the current challenges is the formation and development of networks of crowdfunding platforms in Ukraine, based on the principles inherent in international platforms. The study reveals the dependence of the development of civic engagement and crowdfunding, in particular, it shows that the public manifests social initiatives through charitable and volunteer actions (targeted actions), as well as through the development of industry clusters (social enterprises), advocacy coalitions, etc. It is noted that financing through crowdfunding platforms allows accumulating not only financial assets, but also human capital in the form of a combination of skills and knowledge, developing the cultural capital of the local community; promotes social cohesion. It is emphasized that the implementation of social initiatives is more effective if the level of public trust in these projects and their actors increases.

The Effect of Accountability, Public Trust, Reputation and Perceived Quality of Zakat Institution to Muzzaki’s Behavior

Purpose—This study aims to examine the effects of accountability, public trust, reputation, and the perceived quality of the institution on Muzzaki’s behavior. Design/methodology/approach — This study used an associative causality approach with data collection techniques using questionnaires. The population of this study were all muzzaki at the Zakat Management Organization in East Java, totaling 10,000 muzzaki. The sampling method used in this research was purposive sampling. The analysis technique used was a variance-based structural equation model (SEM) or component-based SEM, known as Partial Least Square (PLS). Findings—Institutional accountability had a positive effect on public trust, the institution's reputation, perceived quality, and Muzzaki’s behavior. Public trust had a positive effect on Muzzaki’s behavior, and the institution's reputation and perceived quality had a positive effect on Muzzaki's behavior. Practical implications — The results showed that the implementation of institutional accountability is an important factor in increasing public trust, institutional reputation, perceived quality, and muzzaki’s behavior, so the Amil Zakat Institution in East Java Province is expected to be able to implement accountability properly so that the level of public trust, institutional reputation and perceived quality will be increase, so does the behavior of muzzaki at the Amil Zakat Institution in East Java Province. Originality/value — This research replicates and modifies the concept of previous research where there was a gap between the similar variables studied, which obtained inconsistent results.

The Sharia Capital Market and Halal Industry play an integral role in establishing a financial ecosystem that adheres to Islamic financial principles and supports the growth of industrial sectors that meet halal standards. This research aims to provide a comprehensive review regarding the contribution of the Sharia Capital Market as the main pillar supporting the growth of the halal industry. Through a literature review and document analysis approach, this research identifies that the Sharia Capital Market not only acts as an alternative source of financing, but also shapes the financial environment in accordance with Islamic principles. Islamic investment instruments, such as sukuk and Islamic shares, play a key role in providing ethical financing alternatives. Regulatory factors, investor participation, and the level of public trust are identified as crucial elements that influence the integration of the Sharia Capital Market with the halal industry. These findings provide a basis for stakeholders to develop a financial ecosystem that supports economic growth in accordance with the principles of Islamic finance and sustainability.

Economic activity and suicides: Causal evidence from macroeconomic shocks in England and Wales

The relationship between economic activity and suicides has been the subject of much scrutiny, but the focus in the extant literature has been almost exclusively on estimating associations rather than causal effects. In this paper, using data from England and Wales between January 1, 1997 and December 31, 2017, we propose a plausible set of assumptions to estimate the causal impacts of well-known macroeconomic variables on the daily suicide rate. Our identification strategy relies on scheduled macroeconomic announcements and professional economic forecasts. An important advantage of using these variables to model suicide rates is that they can efficiently capture the elements of ‘surprise or shock’ via the observed difference between how the economy actually performed and how it was expected to perform. Provided that professional forecasts are unbiased and efficient, the estimated ‘surprises or shocks’ are ‘as good as random’, and therefore are exogenous. We employ time series regressions and present robust evidence that these exogenous macroeconomic shocks affect the suicide rate. Overall, our results are consistent with economic theory that shocks that reduce estimated permanent income, and therefore expected lifetime utility, can propel suicide rates. Specifically, at the population level, negative shocks to consumer confidence and house prices accelerate the suicide rate. However, there is evidence of behavioural heterogeneity between sexes, states of the economy, and levels of public trust in government. Negative shocks to the retail price index (RPI) raise the suicide rate for males. Negative shocks to the growth rate in gross domestic product (GDP) raise the population suicide rate when the economy is doing poorly. When public trust in government is low, increases in the unemployment rate increase the suicide rate for females.

This study discusses the Political Participation of Veiled Students of the Padangsidimpuan State Islamic Institute in the 2019 Presidential Election in the City of Padangsidimpuan. The type of research is field research (field research) with a field approach. The date source consisted of primary, nmaelyveiled studets at IAIN Padangsidimpuan and secondary books, journal article, documentation, relevant to this study. Date collection techniques are obsevation, interviws, and analysis techniques are descriptive analysis.. This secondary data consists of literature which is reading material, the work of experts from their respective fields whose function is to explain primary legal materials. After obtaining complete data, it is then analyzed to get more relevant results. The results of the study stated that the Political Participation of Veiled Padangsidimpuan State Islamic Institute Students in the 2019 Presidential Election in Padangsidimpuan City was still very minimal as can be seen from the level of participation of Padangsidimpuan State Islamic Institute students who wore veils in the presidential election in Padangsidimpuan city where there were 32% who voted. and did not vote 68%. The results of the study show that the factors that affect the low level of political participation of female students are first, educational background, second, environment, and third, the many political actors who deviate. The consequences are first, the bad democratic system and second, the decline in the level of public trust in the government.

Забезпечення реалізації прав та свобод людини і громадянина через призму діяльності правоохоронних органів

The issue of ensuring the realization of the rights and freedoms of a person and a citizen through the prism of the activities of law enforcement agencies was considered. It was noted that the implementation of one of the main tasks of the state to ensure the rights and freedoms of a person and a citizen, enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine, is entrusted to the three existing branches of government in the state: legislative, executive and judicial. In addition, in order to solve the problems of socio-political and economic development of modern Ukraine, there is a regulatory and protective influence of the state on citizens with the aim of forming appropriate (legal) conditions for their life activities. For this, the state creates special bodies - these are law enforcement agencies. It is emphasized that the concept of "law enforcement agencies" is very often used in scientific literature, regulatory documents and acts, colloquial speech, etc., but an accurate and clear idea about it has not yet been formed.Scientists do not have a unified approach to this concept, it is not fully contained in legislative acts. Normative legal acts related to the disclosure of the concept of "law enforcement agencies" have been analyzed. It was noted that law enforcement agencies are special state institutions united by their functional purpose. Four main features of law enforcement activity are identified. The concept of human rights and freedom is defined. It is emphasized that human rights are divided into 4 groups, each group is disclosed. Attention is drawn to the fact that to ensure human rights and freedoms in the activities of law enforcement agencies, there is a mechanism in the form of two subsystems: protection and protection. After analyzing the current legislation, the main areas of activity of law enforcement agencies in the field of ensuring human and citizen rights and freedoms are highlighted. It was concluded that in modern Ukraine, the work of law enforcement agencies is aimed at ensuring the fundamental rights and freedoms of a person and a citizen. Every day, our state becomes one step closer to European standards in the field of citizen security. However, our realities require newer legal approaches in the matter of ensuring fundamental rights and freedoms. For this purpose, appropriate reforms are carried out in the state, the forms and methods of ensuring the rights and freedoms of a person and citizen are improved, the level of legal culture is raised and, what is very important, in the context of the relevant changes, the level of public trust in law enforcement officers is increased.

This research aims to find out what kind of personal branding you want to show to the public. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with personal branding theory. With the conclusion that the personal branding shown is in accordance with Rampersad & Montoya’s 11 personal branding criteria, namely; Authenticity, Integrity, Consistency, Specialization, Authority, Distintiveness, Relevant, Visibility, Persistence, Goodwill, and Performance. The personal branding efforts carried out by Brigadier Agus Kurniawan through Tiktok indirectly improved the image of the police in the eyes of the public.

Strengthening the Institutional Independence of the Court in the System of European Integration Steps of Ukraine

The article is devoted to the study of European standards of judicial independence. The subject of the study is the institution of court independence and specific measures to improve its legal support in Ukraine in accordance with European standards. The purpose of the article is to determine the following judicial reform measures aimed at institutional and legal harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with the standards of the European Union. The research uses dialectical, systematic analysis and synthesis, comparison and legal modeling methods of scientific knowledge. Acquiring the status of a candidate country in the EU obliges Ukraine to carry out a number of transformations of social and political institutions, and judicial reform is one of them. This will require systemic measures, and not just amendments to legislation aimed at harmonizing national legal norms with European standards. It is emphasized that despite the ongoing judicial reform, the goal of an effective court has not been achieved: the level of public trust in the court is still low. The author predicts that if only point changes in judicial legislation are started now, the result will be the same as during the previous steps of judicial reform. It is necessary to start with the construction of the foundation for an effective judicial system, which is the independence of the court. Analyzing the European standards of an independent court and the practices of the EU institutions regarding the assessment of the impact of various indicators on the general assessment of the assurance of court independence, taking into account the current and urgent problems of the judicial system of Ukraine, the author makes a number of proposals for improving domestic legislation and practice aimed at strengthening the independence of the court, which the author calls fundamental the value of a democratic state, a prerequisite for an effective judicial protection system.

Partisipasi Politik dan Keterlibatan Masyarakat Pada Pemilu: (Studi Kasus: Kecamatan Dlingo, Kabupaten Bantul)

The The purpose of this study was to determine the political participation and community involvement of Dlinggo District in the 2020 Bantul Regency Regional Election. The method used in this study is qualitative with a case study approach in Dlingo District to see political participation. The source of data in the study is primary data, sourced from author interviews conducted with the Division of Socialization, Voter Education, community participation and human resources of the Bantul Regency KPU. Second, secondary data sourced from data documents related to the percentage of political participation and social media data of the Bantul Regency KPU. Data analysis using Computer Asigned Qualitative Data Software (CAQDS) Nvivo 12plus. Data visualization is presented in the form of crosstab analysis graphs and Words Cloud Analysi. The results showed that political participation in Dlingo Subdistrict which included social and economic status, situation, political affiliations of parents, political awareness, organizational experience, trust in the government through mass media socialization and informal discussions in general the value of participation went well because of the high enthusiasm of the residents there. However, factors that have a fairly high influence conclude that from the indicators that have been met, the indicators of political awareness, the situation of trust in the government, and the stimulant of participation through mass media socialization and informal discussions have a value that is more determinant than others. This can be seen in the enthusiasm of residents (engagement) in every socialization carried out by the KPU and through social media, then also data on the level of public trust in the leadership of regional heads which is also a strong foundation in participating in new regional head elections and towards changes in service quality.

The research is a descriptive research that seeks to monitor levels of public confidence in websites and to identify the elements of the media content industry that has a high degree of credibility with the public through the use of the survey method. In order to reach the users, the two researchers used the snowball sample by using the questionnaire tool to achieve the research goals and hypotheses, which included several axes that simulate the research questions, hypotheses, and objectives.
