Effect of Electroacupuncture on the Treatment of Pneumonia in Patients with Hypertensive Intracerebral Hemorrhage

Pneumonia is a serious postoperative complication of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage (HICH), and there is no specific treatment for pneumonia. In this study, we conducted randomized controlled trials to evaluate the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) on the treatment of pneumonia in patients with HICH. An equal number of patients with HICH complicated with pneumonia (n=80 in total) were randomly placed in either the EA group (EA treatment and routine basic treatment) or the control group (routine basic treatment). After 14days of treatment, clinical symptoms and signs, blood oxygen saturation, the level of inflammatory factors, the effective rate, the scores of the Barthel Index, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale and Glasgow Coma Scale, the hospitalization time, and expenses were compared between the groups. The general information of the patients in the control and EA groups were similar. After 14days of intervention, the patients in the EA group showed better symptom and sign scores, blood oxygen saturation levels, Barthel Index scores, Glasgow Coma Scale scores, and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale scores than the patients in the control group. Furthermore, the EA treatment also lowered the levels of inflammatory factors and white blood cell count. Additionally, the patients in the EA group showed higher effective rates than those in the control group. EA benefits the treatment of pneumonia in patients with HICH.

A Comparative Study of Nasal Fiberoptic Intubation with Laryngeal Mask Airway Fiberoptic Intubation in Children with a Difficult Airway

Background: Considering that the gold standard for intubation in children with a difficult airway is the use of fiberoptic bronchoscopy, and few studies have evaluated its application in children, the present study aimed at comparing two bronchoscopic techniques of nasal fiberoptic tracheal intubation (FOI-Nasal) and fiberoptic intubation via laryngeal mask airway (FOI-LMA) in children with a difficult airway.
 Methods: A single-blind randomized clinical trial was performed on 40 six-month-old to six-year-old children that were divided into two groups each consisting of 20 patients. The participants were all candidates for elective surgery with clinical criteria for the anticipated difficult intubation. FOI-Nasal and FOI-LMA were performed in the first and second groups, respectively. Mean arterial pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), and blood oxygen saturation levels (SpO2) were assessed and recorded before anesthesia (T1), immediately before bronchoscopy (T2), and immediately after intubation with endotracheal tube (T3). Moreover, ETCO2, the first successful insertion attempt, and the intubation time were recorded, as well.
 Results: The results of the present study revealed that parameters including MAP, HR, and SpO2 at times T1, T2, and T3 were not significantly different between the two groups after adjusting for potential confounding factors (P> 0.05). However, ETCO2 in FOI-Nasal group with a mean of 38.40 ± 3.57 was significantly higher than that of the FOI-LMA group with a mean of 34.35 ± 3.15 (P = 0.001). In addition, the intubation time in the FOI-LMA group with a mean of 32.40 ± 7.45 was significantly shorter than that of the FOI-Nasal group with a mean of 51.75 ± 9.97 (P <0.001). The success rate in the first attempt in the FOI-Nasal group with the value of 70% was lower than that of the FOI-LMA group with the value of 90%; however, this difference was not statistically significant (P> 0.05).
 Conclusion: According to the results of the present study, the intubation time in the FOI-LMA group was significantly shorter than that of the FOI-Nasal group. Moreover, the success rate of the first attempt in the FOI-LMA group was higher than that of the FOI-Nasal group. Therefore, it can be stated that FOI-LMA as compared to FOI-Nasal can be regarded as an easier technique, with a shorter intubation time, a higher success rate, and a greater stability of children’s hemodynamic parameters.

Application of optical analysis methods for non-invasive monitoring of blood oxygen saturation level

An intelligent optical system for medical express diagnostics has been developed and tested. A method for visualizing the oxygen status of biological tissues in the form of "digital images" describing the general functional state of the human body is demonstrated. It has been shown that the method of principal components and hierarchical clustering can be used in combination with optical methods for detecting hemoglobin forms in biological tissues to perform non-invasive monitoring and express diagnostics of the oxygen status of the human body. The results obtained show that it is possible to stratify the subjects into risk groups based on optical sensor readings. In comparison with pulse oximetry, the use of which is common for determining the oxygen saturation level of blood, the described method can be employed to estimate peripheral oxygen saturation, and thus thrombosis and ischemia of the extremities can be detected in time.

Abstract-Health-care Environment has developed in science and patients require ongoing monitoring of their ECG readings, body temperature, blood pressure (BP), heart rate, and other vital indicators. So, the primary goal of the working model is to use wireless technology to transmit the patient's health parameters to the doctor in case anything is abnormal. All the characteristics will be sensed, even if the patient is unconscious, and relayed to the medical professionals. So, we are proposing an innovative project to dodge such sudden death rates by using Patient Health Monitoring that uses sensor technology and uses the internet to communicate with assistance in case of problems. This system uses Temperature, Spo2, gyroscope, and heartbeat sensors for tracking patients’ health. These sensors are connected to the Arduino-Uno. A microcontroller that tracks the patient's health which is connected to an LCD display and a wireless network to transmit the information to a web server. In case of any abrupt changes in the patient’s heart rate, temperature, or blood oxygen saturation level, an alert message is sent about the patient using IoT. This tracking system also shows patients’ temperature, angular movements, and heartbeat tracked live data with timestamps over the Internetwork. Consequently, the IoT-based patient health tracking system actively monitors patient health through the internet, assists users in keeping an eye on their patients while at work, and perhaps saves lives. technology- based knowledge focused on Wireless-Sensing nodes. Remote Health Monitoring System for the Estimation of Blood Pressure, Heart Rate, and Blood Oxygen Saturation Level

This article presents the design and implementation of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based remote health monitoring system for the estimation of blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR), and blood oxygen saturation levels (SpO2). Our designed sensor can remotely monitor BP, HR, and SpO2. Our device collects, evaluates, predicts, and reads health data and then stores it on a remote platform named “ThinkSpeak,” which forms an IoT platform, with a 0.91 organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) screen display for viewing numerical health readings locally. We used a biomedical sensor device with an embedded signal condition unit, and a single photoplethysmography (PPG) signal was employed to derive and measure the PPG signal. A computer-based algorithm was generated, which factored in selected beneficial parameters measured from a single bio-inspired PPG signal. The measured PPG signal was used to estimate the individual user’s BP (both systolic and diastolic values), HR, and SpO2. An automatic multiscale-based peak (AMBP) detection algorithm was developed to obtain the maximum peak of the PPG signal. Furthermore, the developed sensor was benchmarked against two standard commercially available measurement devices: a Contec ambulatory BP sensor and a Braun pulse oximeter monitor. Our developed sensor is worn as a ring sensor and is interfaced with an Arduino 1010 WIFI MKR for remote health monitoring. Our estimated BP, HR, and SpO2 values were remotely monitored and a graphical representation was constructed.

IoT Based Covid Patient Health Monitoring System

The COVID-19 pandemic situation has made timely Health monitoring a major concern for saving a life. The busy routine life is a major challenge for doctors to regularly monitor the Health of a COVID Patient. To overcome this problem faced by the family members and doctors in this pandemic situation, we have designed a smart Health monitoring system using IoT (Internet of Things). This system immediately checks and alerts about the critical situations faced by the COVID Patients. This system uses NODEMCU ESP8266 controller, for continuous tracking of the Patient’s Blood Oxygen saturation (SpO 2 ) level. Additionally, Patient Health parameters such as Body Temperature, Heart rate (BPM), as well as Room Temperature and Humidity can also be measured. The Patient Health data are collected and stored in an IoT platform (BLYNK). These Patient Health parameters can be monitored from anywhere by any devices such as Smartphones, Laptop, PC, Smart TV’s etc… that supports browsing capabilities. If the levels of Blood Oxygen Saturation (SpO 2 ) gets lower, it sends a warning immediately to the family members, doctors and to the nearest hospital through mail, phone call and SMS (Short Message Service). By Checking the data obtained from the system, necessary actions could be taken before the problem becomes severe. Thus, the Patient’s life can be saved in time by using this proposed system.

Diagnostic Value of Blood Oxygen Saturation and Serum C-Reactive Protein Level in Predicting Lung Sequels in Coronavirus Disease 2019-Infected Patients: A 12-week Cohort Study.

Evidence of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) respiratory sequels is restricted and predisposing factors are not well studied more than two years passing pandemic. This study followed COVID-19 patients 12 weeks after discharge from hospital for respiratory sequels. This was a prospective study on discharged COVID-19 patients in 2021, in Jahrom, Iran. Exposure was COVID-19 clinical features at hospitalization, including symptoms and physical examination and laboratory findings, and primary endpoint was 12-week lung sequel, being evaluated by a chest CT scan. Demographics and previous medical history were considered covariates. SPO2 and CRP 6-week changes were followed as an early tool for prediction of 12-week lung sequel. Totally, 383 participants (17 had sequels) with mean age of 57.43±18.03 years old (50.13% male) completed 12-week study follow-ups. Ninety-one (23.8%) subjects had an ICU admission history. SPO2% in 6th week was statistically significantly associated with a higher rate of 12-week sequelae (P0.001). Also, patients having CT scan scores between 40% to 50% (P=0.012) and higher than 50% (P=0.040) had higher chance of experiencing lung sequelae than patients with CT scan score of below 40%, as well as having ICU admission history and lower SPO2% at 6th week of discharge. There was a statistically significant increasing trend of SPO2% (P0.001) and a statistically significant decreasing trend of CRP levels (P0.001), overall. SPO2% increase after 6 weeks was lower in participants with lung sequels than fully improved ones (P=0.002) and as well as total 12-week change in SPO2% (P=0.001). CRP changes in none of evaluated periods were different among study groups (P0.05). Our results were in favor of closely following SPO2 levels after patient discharge, while CRP assessment seems not helpful based on our results.

Peculiarities of the methodology, diagnostic value, and global recommendations for assessing exercise tolerance in children (literature review, own research)

Assessment of exercise tolerance is one of the methods for clinical diagnosis of health status, which makes it possible to determine and comprehensively analyze the degree of physical fitness of a patient, his ability to tolerate physical exertion, and the adaptation capabilities of the body. The level of exercise tolerance plays a major role in assessing health status and quality of life of children and adolescents, as it depends on a whole set of factors, namely: the functional properties of the cardiovascular, respiratory, and musculoskeletal systems and the level of physical fitness. Tests with dosed physical activity are used to assess exercise tolerance. The diagnostic value of methods for evaluating exercise tolerance consists in the possibility of constant monitoring of heart rate, blood pressure, recording of an electrocardiogram, fixation of the level of blood oxygen saturation, determination of peak or maximum oxygen consumption obtained by direct and indirect methods during the test. The interpretation of the obtained results creates significant opportunities in terms of the diagnostic search for a pediatrician. The purpose of the work is to summarize the literature data about peculiarities of the tests with dosed physical activity, their diagnostic value, and global recommendations for assessing exercise tolerance in children, to evaluate the results of own research.

Incidence and Risk Factors of Spinal Anesthesia-Related Complications After an Elective Cesarean Section: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Introduction Neuraxial anesthetic techniques are the method of choice for cesarean section (CS) deliveries, and spinal anesthesia (SA) is the preferred technique. Although the use of SA has greatly improved the outcomes of CS deliveries, SA-related complications are still a matter of concern. The study's primary aim is to measure the incidence of SA complications after a CS, specifically hypotension, bradycardia, and prolonged recovery, as well as to identify the risk factors for these complications. Method The data of patients who had elective CS using SA from January 2019 to December 2020 was collected from a tertiary hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The study design was a retrospective cohort study. The data collected included age, BMI, gestational age, comorbidities, the SA drug and dosage used, the site of the spinal puncture, and the patient's position during the spinal block. Also, the patient's blood pressure measurements, heart rate, and oxygen saturation levels were collected at baseline and at 5, 10, 15, and 20 minutes. SPSS was used for statistical analysis. Results The incidence of mild, moderate, and severe hypotension was 31.4%, 23.9%, and 30.1%, respectively. In addition, 15.1% of the patients experienced bradycardia, with 37.4% experiencing a prolonged recovery. Two factors were associated with hypotension, including BMI and the dosage of the SA, with a p-value of 0.008 and a p-value of 0.009, respectively. The site of the SA punctures equal to or lower than L2 was the only factor associated with bradycardia (p-value = 0.043). Conclusion The present study concludes that BMI and the dose of SA were the factors associated with SA-induced hypotension during a CS, and the site of the SA puncture equal to or lower than L2 was the only risk factor associated with spinal anesthesia-induced bradycardia.

Risk factors of postoperative low cardiac output syndrome in children with congenital heart disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Low cardiac output syndrome (LCOS) is the most common complication after cardiac surgery, which is associated with the extension of postoperative hospital stay and postoperative death in children with congenital heart disease (CHD). Although there are some studies on the risk factors of LCOS in children with CHD, an unified conclusion is lack at present. To synthesize the risk factors of LCOS after CHD in children, and to provide evidence-based insights into the early identification and early intervention of LCOS. The databases of the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Database, China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase and Web of Science were searched for relevant articles that were published between the establishing time of each database and January 2022. Based on retrospective records or cohort studies, the influencing factors of postoperative low cardiac output in children with congenital heart disease were included in Meta analysis.This study followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The risk of bias was evaluated according to the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS). RevMan 5.4 software was used to conduct the meta-analysis. A total of 1,886 records were screened, of which 18 were included in the final review. In total, 37 risk factors were identified in the systematic review. Meta- analysis showed that age, type of CHD, cardiac reoperation, biventricular shunt before operation, CPB duration, ACC duration, postoperative residual shunt, cTn-1 level 2 h after CPB > 14 ng/ml and postoperative 24 h MR-ProADM level > 1.5 nmol/l were independent risk factors of LCOS. Additionally, the level of blood oxygen saturation before the operation was found to have no statistically significant relationship with LOCS. The risk factors of postoperative LCOS in children with CHD are related to disease condition, intraoperative time and postoperative related indexes, so early prevention should be aimed at high-risk children. https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/, identifier: CRD42022323043.

Evaluation of the effect of favipiravir on patients with COVID-19.

The novel coronavirus disease 2019 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) started in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. No specific drug has been accepted for COVID-19 treatment up to now. Favipiravir as an antiviral drug affects RNA viruses like influenza and Ebola. Accordingly, the aim of this study is the evaluation of favipiravir's effect on COVID-19 outcomes. This is a randomized controlled study including 97 patients with COVID-19 randomly allocated into favipiravir or control groups. The primary outcomes were improvement of clinical manifestations and atrial oxygen saturation (SpO2), and the secondary outcome was the length of hospitalization. Clinical manifestations recovery of COVID-19 patients was better in the favipiravir group, and the mortality rates were less than in the control group (P = 0.0001 for both). The level of blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) was significantly higher in the favipiravir group (P = 0.0001). The mean lymphocyte count was lower in the control group (P = 0.004). In addition, levels of blood urine nitrogen (BUN) were higher in the favipiravir group (P = 0.033). The length of hospitalization was similar in both groups (P = 0.586). Favipiravir can be effective for clinical and laboratory improvement of COVID-19 patients, and it is a promising drug for decreasing of mortality rate in these patients.

Clinical Risk Factors of Need for Intensive Care Unit Admission of COVID-19 Patients; a Cross-sectional Study.

It could be beneficial to accelerate the hospitalization of patients with the identified clinical risk factors of intensive care unit (ICU) admission, in order to control and reduce COVID-19-related mortality. This study aimed to determine the clinical risk factors associated with ICU hospitalization of COVID-19 patients. The current research was a cross-sectional study. The study recruited 7182 patients who had positive PCR tests between February 23, 2020, and September 7, 2021 and were admitted to Afzalipour Hospital in Kerman, Iran, for at least 24 hours. Their demographic characteristics, underlying diseases, and clinical parameters were collected. In order to analyze the relationship between the studied variables and ICU admission, multiple logistic regression model, classification tree, and support vector machine were used. It was found that 14.7 percent (1056 patients) of the study participants were admitted to ICU. The patients' average age was 51.25±21 years, and 52.8% of them were male. In the study, some factors such as decreasing oxygen saturation level (OR=0.954, 95%CI: 0.944-0.964), age (OR=1.007, 95%CI: 1.004-1.011), respiratory distress (OR=1.658, 95%CI: 1.410-1.951), reduced level of consciousness (OR=2.487, 95%CI: 1.721-3.596), hypertension (OR=1.249, 95%CI: 1.042-1.496), chronic pulmonary disease (OR=1.250, 95%CI: 1.006-1.554), heart diseases (OR=1.250, 95%CI: 1.009-1.548), chronic kidney disease (OR=1.515, 95%CI: 1.111-2.066), cancer (OR=1.682, 95%CI: 1.130-2.505), seizures (OR=3.428, 95%CI: 1.615-7.274), and gender (OR=1.179, 95%CI: 1.028-1.352) were found to significantly affect ICU admissions. As evidenced by the obtained results, blood oxygen saturation level, the patient's age, and their level of consciousness are crucial for ICU admission.

The Positive Effect of The Forest Environment in The Ecotherapy Healing Forest Program on The Physical and Mental Health After COVID-19

This research is aimed at students who are currently experiencing excessive coursework and high emotional stress after COVID-19. Where if these conditions are not immediately addressed, it can cause mental illness. The Ecotherapy Healing Forest program offers several activities in it, such as relaxation programs to relieve stress, walks in the forest, and sensory elements to be given to the participants. In this study, 44 student participants were used from class 2018 – class 2021 at Kapuas Sintang University. Participants will be measured their blood sugar levels and oxygen saturation by medical personnel, and given the DASS 42 questionnaire to measure participants’ stress levels. Measurements will be accrued out 5 repetitions of the Ecotherapy Healing Forest program at different times. The results of this study revealed that there was a significant decrease in blood sugar levels, oxygen saturation and stress levels in the participants after participating in the Ecotherapy Healing Forest program. However, for smoking students, the Ecotherapy Healing Forest treatment does not have a significant effect on oxygen saturation values. Therefore, the authors propose Ecotherapy Healing Forest as a non-pharmacological intervention to relieve stress while improving physical health (blood sugar levels and oxygen saturation) for students.

Investigation of the Possible Causes of NRBC in ICU Patients and the Dynamic Trend of NRBC Count in Survival and Death Patients or with Different Underlying Diseases: A Retrospective Study.

The mortality of intensive care unit (ICU) patients ranges from 5% to 30%, and nucleated red blood cells (NRBCs) were revealed to be related to mortality. However, few studies have discussed the causes of NRBC or compared the dynamic count among patients with underlying diseases. To explore the possible causes of NRBC in ICU patients and the dynamic trends between survival and death groups and underlying disease subgroups. A total of 177 ICU patients were retrospectively included. The possible causes of NRBC in ICU patients were discussed. The relationship between NRBC and in-hospital mortality and the dynamic trend of NRBC during hospitalization between the survival and death groups and underlying disease subgroups were compared. The Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II) score and Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score in the NRBC-positive group were higher (23.52 ± 9.39 vs. 19.62 ± 7.59; 13.50 (9.00-17.50) vs. 8.00 (6.00-12.00)). Red blood cell count (RBC), hemoglobin (Hb) level, oxygen saturation (SO2), oxygenation index (OI), and serum protein level were lower in the NRBC-positive group. However, D-dimer (D-D), liver and kidney function indices, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), C-reactive protein (CRP), and procalcitonin (PCT) were higher than those in the NRBC-negative group. Correlation analysis showed that NRBC count was positively correlated with alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and red blood cell distribution width (RDW) and negatively correlated with SO2 (r = 0.431, P < 0.05; r = 0.363, P < 0.05; r = -0.335, P < 0.05). The mortality rate in the NRBC-positive group was higher, and the median survival time was shorter than that in the NRBC-negative group (77.9% vs. 95.7%, P < 0.001; 15 days vs. 8.5 days, P < 0.01). Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses showed that NRBC was an independent risk factor for in-hospital mortality (HR: 1.12 (1.03-1.22), P < 0.01). The NRBC count had different hazard ratios (HRs) for in-hospital mortality in the subgroups. Locally weighted scatterplot smoothing (LOWESS) analysis revealed that the NRBC count in the death group was higher and had a sharp upward trend before death, whereas that in the survival group was negative or stayed at a low level. The changing trend of the NRBC count was different in patients with different underlying diseases. The possible cause of NRBC in ICU patients was related to inflammation and hypoxia. The persistently high level and rapid upward trend of NRBC counts are risk factors for in-hospital mortality in ICU patients. The changing trend of the NRBC count varied in patients with different underlying diseases.

Li-Fi BASED HEALTH MONITORING SYSTEM FOR INFANTS

The objective of the project is to design an infant health monitoring system based on LI-FI Technology. In this project we are continuously monitoring an infant through LI-FI Technology, it transmits data faster than WI-FI. The patient parameters are quickly transmitted via LI-FI transmitter, and it is received by LI-FI Receiver. For each parameter different sensors are used to monitor patient health in real time. We are transmitting and receiving data via LI-FI Technology. The sensors like SpO2 sensor for monitoring patient’s blood oxygen saturation and pulse level, temperature sensor is used to monitor patient body temperature, All these parameters are stored in Arduino microcontroller and then it will be uploaded and Receiver receive a data from LI-FI transmitter and it will be displayed, In case of emergency doctor can provide treatment for the particular infant based on the parametric value. This method is efficient than conventional systems. The main advantage of this project is implementation of LI-FI technology for faster data transmission and to avoid the presence of electromagnetic radiations.

Study of frequency and inheritance model of ACE1 I/D and ACE2 rs2285666 polymorphisms in COVID-19 patients with varying severity of lung involvement and its effect on serum cytokines levels.

The angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) has been shown to play a role as a receptor for the COVID-19 virus. This virus usually gets into cells and infects them by attaching to their glycoprotein receptors, which are found on the ACE2 receptor. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency and inheritance of ACE1 I/D and ACE2 rs2285666 polymorphisms in COVID-19 patients with varying severity of lung involvement and its effect on serum cytokines levels of interleukin (IL)-1 and IL-6 and laboratory parameters. One hundred eighty-fiveCOVID-19 patients were grouped according to the severity of lung involvement. (I/D) polymorphism of the ACE1 gene and rs2285666 polymorphism of the ACE2 gene were determined by single specific primer-polymerase chain reactionand restriction fragment length reaction-polymerase chain reactionmethods, respectively. Serum levels of IL-1 and IL-6 were also measured by the enzyme linked immunosorbent assay technique. No statistically significant association of ACE2 rs2285666 polymorphism genotypes and ACE1 I/D with the severity of lung involvement was noted. However, there was a statistically significant association between I/D ACE1 polymorphism genotypes and IL-6, white blood cells (WBC), and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) levels. Also, there was no statistically significant association between rs2285666 polymorphism genotypes and patients' blood oxygen saturation level, IL-6, IL-1β, lactate dehydrogenaseactivity, WBC count, and NLR. In patients with COVID-19, the rs2285666 polymorphism of the ACE2 gene and the I/D polymorphism of the ACE1 gene were not significantly associated with the severity of COVID-19 disease and serum IL-6 and IL-1 cytokine levels.

Correlation between Oxygen Saturation and Fasting Blood Sugar Levels in the Elderly

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the elderly are a group of people aged 60 years or more [1]. In 2010 the number of elderly people was recorded at 18.1 million people or 17.6 percent. In 2014 the number increased to 18.8 million people [2]. In Indonesia, the elderly in 2020 are estimated to reach 28.8 million people or 11.34 percent of the total population in the country. The 2018 Riskesdas data noted that the majority of elderly people in Indonesia have degenerative diseases and or chronic health problems, such as diabetes and heart disease. These diseases will cause problems if they are not treated or prevented [3]. Oxygen saturation is the fraction of hemoglobin in oxygen saturation relative to the total hemoglobin in the blood or the oxygen level in the blood. Oxygen is bound by Hemoglobin in red blood cells or Erythrocytes. The human body needs and regulates a very precise and specific oxygen balance in the blood, because the human body needs oxygen from the environment outside the body for metabolic processes and body activities [4]. Normal arterial blood oxygen saturation level in humans is 95-100 percent. Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a major health problem. Data from a global study shows that the number of people with Diabetes Mellitus in 2011 has reached 366 million people in the world [5]. Objective: The objective is to determine the relationship between oxygen saturation and fasting blood sugar levels in the elderly. Method: This research is an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design. The research subjects were elderly aged ≥ 60 years who live in the Malalayang Dua Village, Manado City, Indonesia. Incidence of Intermittent Hypoxemia Increases during Clinical Care and Parental Touch in Extremely Preterm Infants

Objectives: An increased frequency of intermittent hypoxemia (IH) is associated with a higher risk for poor developmental outcomes, disability, or death in extremely preterm infants. The objective of the prFesent study is to quantify the effect of hands-on medical and parental interventions on the incidence of IH in extremely preterm infants. Methods: An observational design with intraindividual comparisons was used. Blood oxygen saturation levels (SpO₂) and time-lapse video were recorded. Frequency, duration, and time to occurrence of IH (SpO₂ <80% for ≥10 s) were compared between nursing and medical care (NMC), health care by parents, skin-to-skin contact (SSC), touch in incubator, physiotherapy, and rest. Each infant was observed for six consecutive 24-h periods. Inclusion criteria were as follows: gestational age ≤28 weeks, birth weight <1500 g, postnatal age 0–6 weeks, gavage feeding, no severe illnesses or invasive procedures, no mechanical ventilation. Results: The highest proportion of time with IH occurred during NMC (2.49%) and incubator touch (1.32%), the lowest during SSC (0.74%) and health care by parents (0.67%). IH frequency per hour was highest during NMC (2.95, IQR 1.19–4.01) and lowest during SSC (0.88, IQR 0.37–2.32, p < 0.001). While an increase in IH during NMC was expected, the high incidence during incubator touch was surprising. Parental touch in the incubator is intended to be soothing, not stressful. Conclusions: Future studies need to clarify how preterm infants process touch, which attributes of touch are fundamental trigger mechanisms of IH, and which handling strategies are most effective in lowering the incidence of IH during hands-on medical care.

Towards a Machine Learning-Based Digital Twin for Non-Invasive Human Bio-Signal Fusion

Human bio-signal fusion is considered a critical technological solution that needs to be advanced to enable modern and secure digital health and well-being applications in the metaverse. To support such efforts, we propose a new data-driven digital twin (DT) system to fuse three human physiological bio-signals: heart rate (HR), breathing rate (BR), and blood oxygen saturation level (SpO2). To accomplish this goal, we design a computer vision technology based on the non-invasive photoplethysmography (PPG) technique to extract raw time-series bio-signal data from facial video frames. Then, we implement machine learning (ML) technology to model and measure the bio-signals. We accurately demonstrate the digital twin capability in the modelling and measuring of three human bio-signals, HR, BR, and SpO2, and achieve strong performance compared to the ground-truth values. This research sets the foundation and the path forward for realizing a holistic human health and well-being DT model for real-world medical applications.
