It concludes that, the hypocritical nature of some states has posed more threats to the issues at hand, due to the use of fossil fuels, every wealthy nation today became wealthy, the world's largest development agencies refuse to support the use of fossil fuels, which poor countries may employ to escape poverty at the insistence of wealthier nations not minding the fact that they contribute more to global emission than the poor nations. The study therefore recommends that, a legal frame work need to be set, nation states need to forget political and ideological differences and rather corporate to find solution to the gory situation. Lastly, advance countries who contributed more to global emission should be held accountable and should as well finance poor countries to implement the policies.

The Discourse of Decentralization in Thailand: A Study of Political, Administrative, and Financial Aspects

The decentralization process in Thailand has been shaped by political history, economic policies, and institutional changes, but remains hindered by a centralized authority and entrenched patrimonial culture. Despite post-1997 reforms aimed at enhancing local democracy, decentralization efforts have faced challenges from political instability, limited resources, and national reluctance to relinquish control. This research employs critical discourse analysis to examine how political, administrative, and financial discourses affect power dynamics, social structures, and governance. Findings reveal ongoing struggles between national and local entities, reflecting broader societal attitudes. The study underscores the need for innovative legal and institutional reforms to address regional disparities, promote good governance, and foster equitable development in Thailand.

“En El Campo, Siempre Es Asi”: A Mixed Methodological Assessment of Spanish-Speaking Immigrant Farmworker Legal Needs in Oregon

This paper uses a convergent mixed method approach to assess the legal needs of Oregon's immigrant (Spanish-speaking) farmworking population. We adapt an English-language survey into Spanish, ensuring the validity of the quantitative results by employing intercept surveys at farmworkers' housing complexes, recording qualitative data regarding the ensuing social interactions, and generating ethnographic fieldnotes on the interactions, participants, and surrounding environs. We find that immigration is an umbrella category that structures other legal needs, rather than a legal need co-equal with other important categories such as healthcare, employment, housing, discrimination, and harassment. Our mixed methods approach provided rich descriptions of surveyed concerns as well as detecting and explaining the undercounting of categories such as law enforcement contact and sexual harassment.

The development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) in dermatology: a narrative review

Artificial intelligence (AI) is defined as a computer science involving program development aiming to reproduce human cognition to analyze complex data. Artificial intelligence has rapidly developed in the medical field. In dermatology, its development is relatively new and is generally used in the diagnostic, especially for skin imaging analysis and classification, and also for risk assessment. The greatest advances have been primarily in the diagnosis of melanoma, followed by the assessment of psoriasis, ulcers, and various other skin diseases. The use of AI has shown good accuracy and is comparable to dermatologists in various studies, especially related to melanoma and skin tumors. However, several obstacles exist in the application of AI to daily clinical practice, including generalizability, image standardization, the need for large data quantities, and legal and privacy aspects. In current developments, AI should be aimed at helping enhance the decision-making of clinicians.

Health justice partnership: Access to justice meets health equity

Access to justice research identifies how unmet legal need arises from and exacerbates disadvantage. In parallel, epidemiological research identifies the inequitable impact of social determinants on health. Health justice partnership (HJP) is an innovative response to this evidence: providing accessible legal help to individuals experiencing complex needs; building the capability of health and legal services to support these clients; and challenging systemic factors that contribute to social and health inequity. HJP offers a broader view of access to justice, demonstrating how the law and accessible legal help contribute to health and wellbeing outcomes, and are part of the shared challenge of responding to health and social inequity.

Using social risks to predict unplanned hospital readmission and emergency care among hospitalized Veterans.

(1) To estimate the association of social risk factors with unplanned readmission and emergency care after a hospital stay. (2) To create a social risk scoring index. We analyzed administrative data from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Corporate Data Warehouse. Settings were VA medical centers that participated in a national social work staffing program. We grouped socially relevant diagnoses, screenings, assessments, and procedure codes into nine social risk domains. We used logistic regression to examine the extent to which domains predicted unplanned hospital readmission and emergency department (ED) use in 30 days after hospital discharge. Covariates were age, sex, and medical readmission risk score. We used model estimates to create a percentile score signaling Veterans' health-related social risk. We included 156,690 Veterans' admissions to a VA hospital with discharged to home from 1 October, 2016 to 30 September, 2022. The 30-day rate of unplanned readmission was 0.074 and of ED use was 0.240. After adjustment, the social risks with greatest probability of readmission were food insecurity (adjusted probability = 0.091 [95% confidence interval: 0.082, 0.101]), legal need (0.090 [0.079, 0.102]), and neighborhood deprivation (0.081 [0.081, 0.108]); versus no social risk (0.052). The greatest adjusted probabilities of ED use were among those who had experienced food insecurity (adjusted probability 0.28 [0.26, 0.30]), legal problems (0.28 [0.26, 0.30]), and violence (0.27 [0.25, 0.29]), versus no social risk (0.21). Veterans with social risk scores in the 95th percentile had greater rates of unplanned care than those with 95th percentile Care Assessment Needs score, a clinical prediction tool used in the VA. Veterans with social risks may need specialized interventions and targeted resources after a hospital stay. We propose a scoring method to rate social risk for use in clinical practice and future research.

Siyasah qadhaiyyah’s Invention on the Right to be a Victim of Revenge Porn

This research aims to investigate the background and rights of revenge porn victims in Bandung City, while also examining Siyasah Qadhaiyah's perspective on this issue. The research method employed is qualitative descriptive analysis with an empirical juridical approach to gather and analyze data related to these cases. The findings reveal that the background of revenge porn involves easy access to technology, extortion by former partners, and legal inadequacies in combating cybercrimes. LBH Bandung emphasizes the victims' need for legal, psychological, and social support. Victim rights, including privacy, control over personal information, access to justice, and legal protection, are crucial for their recovery and are regulated in various laws such as Human Rights Law, ITE Law, Pornography Law, and the Law on Elimination of Sexual Violence. Regarding Siyasah Qadhaiyah, there is alignment with the principles of state trust and responsibility in shaping regulations according to Islamic legal principles and public welfare. Government policies in formulating the Law on Elimination of Sexual Violence and efforts in psychology, technology, law enforcement, and preventive measures, signify an orientation toward the public interest. The impact of this research lies in a better understanding of the issue of revenge porn, highlighting the need for legal and psychological protection for victims, and ensuring the fulfillment of their rights for their recovery within society. It provides a foundation for further policies that accommodate victim protection and strengthen regulations related to cybercrimes.

Empowering Muslim Women: Bridging Islamic Law and Human Rights with Islamic Economics

This intersectional study investigates the harmonisation of Islamic law and human rights in the context of empowering Muslim women through Islamic economics. This study applies an intersectional approach in carrying out the library research method with literature analysis carried out integratively and comprehensively to explore and review various literature sources relevant to the research topic, including journal articles, books, research reports, policy documents, and other related sources of information. The results show that harmonisation between Islamic law and human rights in empowering Muslim women through Islamic economics significantly impacts achieving gender equality and supporting sustainable development. The complexity of Muslim women's identities influenced by factors such as religion, gender, and social class demands a holistic and integrated policy approach in the economy. While the Islamic economy offers great potential to enhance the role of women as agents of change and key drivers of economic development, the incompatibility between Islamic law and human rights conventions and issues of gender inequality points to the need for more inclusive legal and policy reforms. Identifying and recognising these challenges underscores the importance of adopting a comprehensive and coordinated approach. Specific measures that need to be strengthened include inter-agency cooperation, legal and policy reforms to support better gender equality, capacity building of women in the Islamic economic sector, and raising public awareness on the importance of women's empowerment. As such, this study enriches the academic literature and offers practical guidance for policymakers, stakeholders in the Islamic economy, and the general public in advocating and implementing effective and sustainable women's empowerment.

Screening tools for employment in clinical healthcare delivery systems: a content analysis

BackgroundThe relationship between work and health is complex and bidirectional, where work can have both health-harming and health-enhancing effects. Though employment is recognized as a social determinant of health, and clinical healthcare delivery systems are increasingly using screening tools to ask patients about social needs, little research has explored the extent to which employment-related social risk is captured in these screening tools. This study aimed to identify and characterize employment- and work-related questions in social risk screening tools that have been implemented in clinical healthcare delivery systems.MethodsWe conducted a qualitative content analysis of employment-related items in screening tools that have been implemented in clinical healthcare service delivery systems. Three content areas guided data extraction and analysis: Setting, Domain, and Level of Contextualization.ResultsScreening tools that asked employment-related questions were implemented in settings that were diverse in the populations served and the scope of care provided. The intent of employment-related items focused on four domains: Social Risk Factor, Social Need, Employment Exposure, and Legal Need. Most questions were found to have a low Level of Contextualization and were largely focused on identifying an individual’s employment status.ConclusionsSeveral existing screening tools include measures of employment-related social risk, but these items do not have a clear purpose and range widely depending on the setting in which they are implemented. In order to maximize the utility of these tools, clinical healthcare delivery systems should carefully consider what domain(s) they aim to capture and how they anticipate using the screening tools to address social determinants of health.

Designing and Developing a Medical-Legal Partnership to Address Cancer Patients' Health-Harming Legal Needs

Legal Analysis of the Decision on the Request for Guardianship by the State for Christianity

General Background: Marriage in the Christian religion fundamentally differs from other traditions, notably in the absence of a legal requirement for a marriage guardian. Specific Background: Instead, the presence of a priest to officiate the ceremony is deemed sufficient. This distinction is often misunderstood, leading to legal ambiguities and misapplications. Knowledge Gap: Despite clear doctrinal guidelines, there persists a lack of awareness regarding the role of state-appointed guardians in Christian marriages, as evidenced by legal cases requesting such appointments. Aims: This study aims to analyze the necessity and implications of appointing a state guardian in Christian marriages through the examination of relevant legal cases in the Jombang District Court. Results: The study highlights two pivotal cases: Request Number 20/Pdt.P/1994/PN Jmb, which was granted, and Request Number 119/Pdt.P/2023/PN Jbg, which was withdrawn. Novelty: By juxtaposing these cases, the research underscores the inconsistencies and the resultant need for greater legal and doctrinal clarity. Implications: The findings advocate for enhanced educational efforts within both the Christian community and the broader public to mitigate legal misunderstandings and to streamline the judicial approach to marriage guardianship in Christian contexts. The Stateless Legal Clinic: Innovative Models for Addressing Unmet Legal Need in Australia through Clinical Legal Education

The Stateless Legal Clinic is a unique service providing legal education and aid to eligible stateless children in their application for Australian citizenship. It also provides law students at the University of Melbourne with the opportunity to gain practical legal experience and engage in experiential learning, through a clinical legal education elective subject offered within the Juris Doctor (JD) degree. The Stateless Legal Clinic aims to address a critical gap in legal services for stateless children in Australia and situates clinical legal education within the relatively new and emerging discipline of ‘statelessness studies.’ Through an examination of Australia's legal framework for addressing the global human rights issue of statelessness, this article examines the design and operation of the Stateless Legal Clinic, arguing that clinical legal education can provide innovative models for increasing access to justice for communities often overlooked or under-serviced by the legal industry.

Men as victims of domestic violence: aspects of legal regulation

The representative article is devoted to the legal regulation of prevention and counteraction of domestic violence against men in Ukraine. It is pointed out the lack of due attention of the scientific legal doctrine to the problems of domestic violence, especially regarding the connotation of men as victims of this de-axiological phenomenon.
 It is motivated that the peculiarity of the socio-legal position of men as victims of domestic violence is that they often face social stereotypes and complicated challenges associated with insufficient recognition of their vulnerability due to socio-cultural ideas about traditional gender roles. Society often deliberately or indirectly places men in the role of the «strong half», which can lead to stigma and internal conflicts that make it difficult to identify the facts of domestic violence.
 The spread of the gender «stereotype of domestic violence» was dropped.
 It has been proven that socio-cultural stereotypes that assign men the role of strong, steadfast and self-sufficient make it difficult to recognize and accept their vulnerability.
 The article indicates that the latency of such a negative phenomenon among men is also due to the fact that the social reaction can be reinforced by the lack of appropriate resources and services that specialize in supporting men, and the lack of widespread awareness of their problem among the public. Men who become victims of domestic violence often feel a deep fear that they will not be believed or understood, it is caused by difficulties in society’s perception of the image of a male victim, which contradicts traditional ideas about male strength and independence.
 The legal need for special legal regulation regarding male victims of domestic violence is motivated by the recognition that men can also become the object of violence and need the protection and support of social and legal mechanisms. The proposed set of such measures includes preventive, psychological, legal, socio-cultural and organizational and managerial spheres.

Legal Needs Arising in Mental Health Settings and Staff Capability and Support to Respond.

Legal issues are known to affect and be affected by mental health. But to what extent do legal issues surface in mental health settings and what do staff feel they need to support clients experiencing these issues? These questions were explored by a national mental health service interested in the potential for health justice partnership with local community based legal services. A survey of 999 frontline staff of a national mental health organisation. 146 staff (15%) responded from 70 service sites across Australia, including peer support workers (47%), support workers (20%), team leaders (17%) and clinicians (15%). Staff identified a wide range of legal issues experienced by their clients (commonly referred to by staff as consumers), most commonly credit, debt and social security issues, housing, family law and family violence. Two-thirds (67%) of respondents indicated that they spent around 50% or more of their time 'responding to these types of issues'. Respondents indicated that they need more support to address legal issues facing their clients, particularly more knowledge of other services, connections with professionals in other organisations and connections with community. They also felt they could benefit from additional processes, tools, and resources, and time to manage their case load. While there is an emerging field of research exploring the legal capability of citizens, this study explores what mental health service staff feel they need to support consumers experiencing legal issues that can interact with mental health.

Inclusive Undergraduate Research Opportunities for Undocumented Students

ABSTRACT Undocumented students in the United States face a number of structural barriers in accessing higher education. While there is growing attention to the need for legal, financial, social and psychological support for undocumented students, less attention is paid to their equitable access to high impact practices, such as undergraduate research opportunities. This article begins by providing a demographic profile of undocumented students in higher education, highlighting their intersectional identities by which their access additionally is racialized and classed. Students then share their personal experiences and reflections attempting to pursue research opportunities and research-related careers. Throughout, we identify both barriers to access and promising practices in their pursuit of university-sponsored opportunities. The article concludes with recommendations on how universities can ensure equitable access for all students.

The relevance of the article is due to the presence of legal problems in the field of development and regulation of the legal status of the father. The purpose of the article is to identify and explore problems associated with the legal status of the father at different periods of the historical development of the domestic state. The author draws a conclusion about emerging trends in the field of reforming current legislation. The author used general scientific (dialectical, methods of analysis, synthesis) and specific scientific methods (formal legal). It is concluded that certain provisions of domestic legislation in the field of granting fathers a separate legal status need to be improved.

US Medical-Legal Partnerships to Address Health-Harming Legal Needs: Closing the Health Injustice Gap.

The medical-legal partnership (MLP) model is emerging across the USA as a powerful tool to address the adverse social conditions underlying health injustice. MLPs embed legal experts into healthcare teams to address health-harming legal needs with civil legal remedies. We conducted a narrative review of peer-reviewed articles published between 2007 and 2022 to characterize the structure and impacts of US MLPs on patients, providers, and healthcare systems. We found that MLPs largely serve vulnerable patient populations by integrating legal experts into community-based clinical settings or children's hospitals, although patient populations and settings varied widely. In most models, healthcare providers were trained to screen patients for legal needs and refer them to legal experts. MLPs provided a wide range of services, such as assistance accessing public benefits (e.g., Social Security, Medicaid, cash assistance) and legal representation for immigration and family law matters. Patients and their families also benefited from increased knowledge about legal rights and systems. Though the evidence base remains nascent, available studies show MLPs to be associated with greater access to care, fewer hospitalizations, and improved physical and mental health outcomes. Medical and legal providers who were engaged in MLPs reported interdisciplinary learning, and healthcare systems often experienced high returns on investment through cost savings and increased Medicaid reimbursement. Many MLPs also conducted advocacy and education to effect broader policy changes related to population health and social needs. To optimize the MLP model, more rigorous research, systematic implementation practices, evaluation metrics, and sustainable funding mechanisms are recommended. Broader integration of MLPs into healthcare systems could help address root causes of health inequity among historically marginalized populations in the USA.

The article characterizes the theoretical foundations of preventing and combating discrimination in the system of training specialists for security and defense forces. So far, there has been no comprehensive study on the development of theoretical foundations for preventing and combating discrimination in the system of training specialists for the security and defense forces of Ukraine. An improved definition of the concept of "discrimination" is proposed. The factors that determine the social and legal need to prevent and combat discrimination in the system of training specialists for the security and defense forces of Ukraine are highlighted. Based on the results of the study of foreign experience in this area, two main directions for further improvement of the scientific and conceptual foundations for preventing and combating this phenomenon are proposed.

Industry 4.0 in the Context of Agribusiness: A Systematic Literature Review

This study presents a systematic literature review that examines how the Brazilian agribusiness is adopting Industry 4.0 technologies. The Scopus and WoS databases were utilized for this purpose. The results demonstrate that these technologies have the potential to enhance efficiency and productivity while also contributing to sustainability and competitiveness within the sector. Nonetheless, challenges exist, such as the lack of internet infrastructure in certain regions, the need for workforce training, legal and cybersecurity issues, resistance from farmers, and the requirement for investments. To overcome these challenges, an integrated effort among the government, academia, and the private sector is imperative. The study outlines an agenda of opportunities to stimulate the adoption of Industry 4.0 in agribusiness, including modernizing and evolving the sector, ensuring food security, monitoring and controlling production, traceability, and improving productive infrastructure. In summary, Industry 4.0 has the potential to make a significant contribution to the development of Brazilian agribusiness, but addressing the aforementioned challenges and promoting widespread awareness of the capabilities and benefits of Industry 4.0 is essential.

By focusing on regulatory aspects, risks, benefits and stakeholder perceptions, this research analyzes how crypto assets can be used as collateral in loan transactions. A mixed methodology was used to gain a holistic understanding, encompassing both qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results highlight the legal complexities, protections, and need for more comprehensive regulations in facilitating the use of crypto assets as loan collateral in Indonesia
