Pendampingan Uji Kandungan Karbohidrat Pada Makanan Bagi Calon Guru Sekolah Dasar

The implementation of the mentoring activity of carbohydrate content testing in food for prospective elementary school teachers as a learning innovation aims to improve teacher skills in learning and can improve the learning outcomes of students in science learning in grade IV of Elementary School 060893 Medan in the 2023/2024 academic year. This activity aims for prospective teachers to be able to integrate learning innovations through carbohydrate testing in food, so that the learning process activities become effective and efficient in accordance with the characteristics of elementary school science learning. The activity method is carried out through several stages of activities including: preparation activities, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the community service program show that science learning outcomes have increased in grade IV at Elementary School 060893 Medan.

Improving Understanding of Pancasila Values Based on Bruce and Weil Model in Science Learning in Elementary School

This study aims to improve students' understanding of Pancasila values in science learning in elementary schools by applying Bruce and Weil's learning model, especially the Social Interaction Model, which emphasizes the importance of cooperation and discussion. The research was conducted on grade IV students at SDN 19 Kampung Baru Kota Pariaman using the experimental method and Static Group Comparison design. Two groups were involved: an experimental class that applied the Bruce and Weil model, and a control class that used the conventional lecture method. Data were collected through learning outcome tests and analyzed statistically. The results showed that the application of the Bruce and Weil model had a significant effect on improving the understanding of Pancasila values. The average posttest score of the experimental class was 85, while the control class reached 70. Hypothesis testing resulted in a tcount of 22.70, greater than the ttable of 1.68 at the 0.05 significance level, so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Bruce and Weil's model proved effective in improving the understanding of Pancasila values through active participation of students in science learning. This model is recommended as an effective alternative to integrate Pancasila values in science learning in elementary schools.

Sensemaking as a goal of science education, abduction as a process of scientific sensemaking

AbstractCurrent science education reform efforts have identified sensemaking as an important goal of science education, and science education researchers have studied what constitutes the sensemaking process in the science classroom. Because the studies of sensemaking are loosely linked to those of scientific reasoning, however, they have provided little practical insight into how students can make scientific sense, rather than any sense, of natural phenomena. Therefore, in this position paper, we discuss the close relationship between sensemaking and abduction. Sensemaking refers to a prolonged process of resolving a gap or inconsistency in current knowledge and understanding by constructing an explanation of a phenomenon. Abduction is a form of scientific reasoning to generate explanatory hypotheses about the evidence embedded in a phenomenon based on available resources. Abduction can play a crucial role in sensemaking by providing a mechanism for generating a plausible explanation of a target phenomenon and should be adapted for science teaching and learning for students' sensemaking through engagement in science practices. In particular, to develop scientific sensemaking in students, the teacher should help students identify critical evidence, provide students with critical resources, and encourage students to use the method of multiple working hypotheses, so that the students can construct scientifically sound and valid explanations of natural phenomena. It is suggested that further research explore and collect exemplary cases of science teachers effectively supporting students to achieve scientific sensemaking through abduction.

MAPPING INDONESIA’S INDIGENOUS SCIENCE AS A SCIENCE LEARNING CONTEXT IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL: A NEW PARADIGM

The integration of indigenous science into learning, especially science learning for junior high school students, is very necessary. Indigenous science can be used as a context and source for learning science. Mapping Indonesian’s indigenous science is needed to facilitate educators in utilizing and integrating into learning. This study aimed to: (1) analyze and identify junior high school science subject matter and (2) conduct analysis and identification of ethnoscience that is feasible and suitable to be used as a context for junior high school science learning. This research was conducted through literature studies with primary data sources in the form of junior high school science curriculum documents and secondary data sources in the form of documents, internet, books, proceedings, reputable international journals, international journals, and national journals. The stages of the research carried out are: (1) analyzing and identifying material in junior high school science subjects; (2) selecting and sorting material that has the potential to contain ethnoscience content; (3) make details of the subject matter, and (4) present the analysis result. This study succeeded in identifying 7 (seven) indigenous sciences along with their context and content in junior high school science materials, including: (1) Karapan Sapi Tradition from Madura, East Java; (2) Local Potential of Pottery Handicraft Center; (3) Traditional Dance "Lilin" from West Sumatra; (4) Local potential of "salted eggs" from Brebes, Central Java; (5) "Kayon" Puppet Performance Instrument; (6) Natural Potential "Belik" and (7) Dayak Traditional Clothing: King Bibinge and King Baba. The Effectiveness of Ethnoscience-Based Electronic Student Worksheet to Improve Critical Thinking and Scientific Literacy in Middle School Students

Critical thinking and scientific literacy must be cultivated and mastered by students in science learning in the 21st century. This research aims to determine the validity, feasibility, and effectiveness of increasing critical thinking and scientific literacy skills on ethnoscience-based electronic student worksheets developed focusing on additive material. The development of this ethnoscience-based electronic student worksheet followed the ADDIE model using mixed methods. Data collection methods included interviews, distribution of teacher and student questionnaires, tests, and documentation. The validity of ethnoscience-based electronic worksheets obtained a material validity value of 0.98 and a media validity value of 0.97, both of which met the valid and appropriate criteria. Ethnoscience-based electronic worksheets have been proven to be effective in increasing critical thinking competence with an N-Gain score of 0.86 and also effective in increasing scientific literacy competence with an N-Gain score of 0.87, both of which meet the high criteria. In summary, research on the development of an ethnoscience-based electronic student worksheet has been deemed to have a very high level of feasibility and validity and is highly effective in improving the critical thinking and scientific literacy of junior high school students.

Development of Puzzle Learning Media based on Local Wisdom of Maluku Culture in Teaching Social Science Learning in 4th Grade Students of SD Negeri Leahari

This study aims to design learning media in the form of puzzles based on the local wisdom of Maluku culture and test its feasibility. The research was done using R&D method by adapting the ADDIE model—namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The results of the validator’s assessment of the puzzle obtained an average percentage of 92.5% by media experts in the category “Very Feasible” to use in learning activities. The results of the response from the teacher obtained an average percentage of 97.2% with the category “Very Feasible to Use”, while the responses from students showed the category “Very Feasible” to use with an average percentage of 91.5%. The box-shaped puzzle consists of pieces of arrangeable images that display the cultural diversity of Maluku and is made from natural materials, namely sago tree fronds or ’gaba-gaba’. The cultural diversity material contained in this puzzle includes traditional houses, clothing, and dances from Maluku Province. The puzzle was designed using Canva and Adobe Illustration. In conclusion, puzzle learning media with Maluku’s local wisdom-based is very feasible to use in learning to help teachers teach about “Cultural Diversity”. Leveraging Gamification in Science Learning for Secondary Students

This project aims to study the usefulness of incorporating gamification for science learning, for secondary school students. Ever since, the Science subject has been a hassle to the students, as well as the teachers. Therefore, a web-based system with gamification has been proposed. The waterfall model was chosen as the project's methodology, which consists of planning, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and documentation phases. Firebase was used as the cloud database to ease data storage and analysis. The selection was made to ensure the data from interactive activities such as watching films and doing exercises was securely gathered and used. Students earned points, badges, and were ranked as they performed assignments, adding a competitive element to the learning experience. A usability test was carried out to assess the success of the gamified learning platform using PSSUQ (Post-Study System Usability Questionnaire). The survey participants were chosen randomly from a group of high school students and teachers. After using the gamified website, they were asked to submit feedback by answering 16 constructed questions. Positive feedback was gathered from the survey, as most of the questions recorded mean values between 4.0 and 4.5. Hopefully, this study will provide further information regarding the effectiveness of gamification in learning, particularly in science learning for secondary students.

Integrating Single-Case and Qualitative Approaches: A Mixed-Methods Analysis of a Science Comprehension Intervention for Students with Extensive Support Needs

Despite advances in inclusion and access to the general curriculum for students with disabilities at large, students with extensive support needs (ESN) continue to receive instruction that is disconnected from the general curriculum and general education peers. One area of the general curriculum that students with ESN have historically lacked access to is science. However, ongoing research in this area has identified several evidence-based and promising practices that support the science learning of students with ESN. This project used a convergent mixed-methods single-case research design, specifically a single case adapted alternating treatments design paired with qualitative methods, to explore how an intervention to support comprehension of science content supported student learning and engagement for four middle school students with ESN. Implications of the study findings, as well as the value added from the mixed-methods approach, will be discussed.

Profil Keterampilan Komunikasi dan Kolaborasi Peserta Didik dalam Pembelaran IPA Materi Pengenalan Sel pada Siswa SMP

This study aims to determine the profile of communication and collaboration skills of students in science learning on cell recognition material in class VIII SMP Negeri 8 Medan based on indicators of communication and collaboration skills and also based on the results of observations in learning and the results of in-depth interviews with students. This research was conducted in April-August 2024 at SMP Negeri 8 Medan. This research is included in descriptive research with qualitative methods. Determination of subjects using purposive sampling technique. The subjects consisted of 1 science teacher of class VIII and 4 students of class VIII. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with research subjects and also direct observation related to communication and collaboration skills of students in learning. The results showed that the communication and collaboration skills of students on cell recognition material showed diverse abilities. The observation showed that only some students were active in sharing their opinions during class discussions, while others were not able to explain the material well. Although students' enthusiasm was high, only a few were able to effectively discuss the material again. However, they showed good communication by asking and answering questions from the teacher and classmates. In addition, students' collaboration skills can be seen from active participation in discussions and group work, where they can work together to complete tasks in a timely and responsible manner.

The Influence of the Problem Based Learning Model on the Scientific Attitudes and Science Learning Outcomes of Fifth Grade Elementary School Students

This research aims to determine the significant influence of the PBL model on the scientific attitudes and science learning outcomes of fifth grade elementary school students. The method used is quasi experimental design with pretest non-equivalent control group design. The research population was SDN Hugus II Kapanewon Sewon, Bantul Regency, with a sample of several class V students from SD Negeri 2 Blunyahan, SD Negeri 3 Jarakan, SD Negeri Jarakan, and SD Negeri Sawit. The experimental group used the PBL model in science learning. The normality test was carried out using Kolmogrov Smirnov, the homogeneity test was carried out using Levene's test, and the hypothesis test was carried out using the independent sample t-test and MANOVA. The research results show that PBL has a positive and significant effect on scientific attitudes with a value of (0.000 < 0.005) and on learning outcomes with a value of (0.000 < 0.005). Data analysis shows that there is a significant influence of the PBL model on students' scientific attitudes and science learning outcomes with a value of (0.000 < 0.005).

Development of Domino Card Media in IPAS to Improve Learning Outcomes Students of SD Negeri Patemon 02 Gunung Pati District, Semarang City

One of the most important elements in educational activities is the learning media. But in practice, only a few teachers are able to take advantage of the learning media that exist today, this has an impact on student learning outcomes. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to develop domino cards as a learning media teaching science in elementary schools. This research uses the Research and Development method with the model used. namely Borg and Gall. This study involved teachers and 20 students in grade V of SD Negeri Patemon 02. Domino learning media was designed to meet the needs of teachers and students through documentation, interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The study results show the percentage of level of eligibility of domino card media by material and media experts with a percentage of 95% and 93% respectively with very feasible criteria. The pretest and posttest results show that domino card learning media improves student learning outcomes, with an n-gain value of 0.55 and moderate criteria. This shows that domino card learning media is effective for improving student learning outcomes science learning outcomes in learning grade V students of SD Negeri Patemon 02 human respiratory system material.

Supporting elementary preservice teachers' content knowledge for teaching about matter and its interactions

AbstractKnowledge of science content and the ability to translate knowledge into effective teaching is known as teachers' content knowledge for teaching (CKT). Teachers with developed CKT are able to more effectively determine instructional and assessment activities that will deepen K‐12 students' scientific literacy. However, preservice teachers (PSTs) can have limited opportunities to develop CKT, and little is known about how to support PST CKT development in elementary science teacher preparation. In our work, we developed instructional materials (i.e., “CKT Packets”) intended to support teacher educators (TEs) in developing elementary PSTs' CKT for one content area—matter and its interactions. We facilitated a professional learning community for TEs to support their learning how to implement the materials in their courses. We report on results from a mixed‐methods study using a quasi‐experimental cohort control design with a pretest and posttest to understand differences in PSTs' CKT (N = 250) in eight TEs' science classrooms. Nesting PSTs within their TEs' courses, and controlling for PSTs' prior CKT, engagement time on the assessments, prior coursework, and TE time‐invariant effects, we found preliminary evidence that PSTs achieved greater CKT when TEs implemented more CKT Packets. Salient factors that we hypothesize influenced TEs' productive uses of CKT Packets included disruptions to courses/contexts, TEs' sources of motivation for implementing Packets, TEs' entry points for the alignment of curricular materials with existing topics and pedagogical course emphases, TEs' approaches for first‐time use of curricular materials, and TEs' experiences with the instructional routines of the Packets. We bound our interpretation of results within limitations (e.g., small sample size, quasi‐experimental design) and suggest avenues for new research. Throughout this article, we include implications for TEs, PSTs, educative curricula developers, and researchers working to improve science teaching and learning for students.

Development of HTML5-Based Mobile Learning Media to Enhance Critical Thinking Skills of Elementary School Students in IPAS Learning

This study aims to examine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of HTML5-based mobile learning media to enhance the critical thinking skills of elementary school students in science learning (IPAS). The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation). The study subjects were fourth-grade elementary students from two schools, SDN Yosowilangun Kidul 01 and SDN Yosowilangun Kidul 03 in Lumajang Regency. Data collection techniques included questionnaires, expert validation instruments, practicality instruments, and pretest-posttest data. Data analysis was conducted using a descriptive quantitative approach, focusing on student needs and the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of HTML5-based mobile learning media. The results showed that the HTML5-based mobile learning media had an average validity score of 88.9%, categorized as "highly valid." The practicality test, based on teacher observation and student response questionnaires, yielded an average percentage of 91.50%, categorized as "very practical," indicating that the media is suitable for use in the learning process. In the effectiveness test, the analysis of critical thinking data resulted in an N-gain score of 0.754, categorized as "high," demonstrating that the use of HTML5-based mobile learning media can significantly improve students' critical thinking skills in elementary science learning. In conclusion, the use of HTML5-based mobile learning media in science learning is valid, feasible, and highly effective for improving students' learning outcomes and critical thinking skills at the elementary level.

Development of Integrated Science Teaching Materials of Al-Quran Verses in Improving Students' Religious Attitudes in Madrasas

Various previous studies have responded to the study of the challenges of moral degradation in the digital era. However, the focus of the study has not yet been found in the form of the integrality of Qur'anic verse-based Learning with a locus in Madrasah Tsanawiyah. It is believed that this integrality fosters students' religious attitudes. This study aims to develop a product of integrated science teaching materials of the Qur'anic verses to improve students' religious attitudes in madrasah. This type of research is research and development (R&D), adapting the Borg & Gall model with the ADDIE stages, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, because it is considered relevant to describe the chronology of Learning product development from the beginning. The results of this study found that science teaching materials integrated with al-Qur'an verses are valid and very feasible to use in student science Learning at MTsN Konawe Regency with an average value of 91.98% of the validity test results. Then, science teaching materials integrated with al-Qur'an values have a practicality value to be applied at MTsN Konawe Regency, marked by the average score of 1.64 small groups and 1.79 large groups. Science teaching materials integrated with al-Qur'an values are effectively used in science Learning after being developed in small and large groups with a probability value (r) Sig. = 0.000 <a = 0.05, meaning there is a significant difference in students' spiritual attitudes before and after treatment using science teaching materials integrated with the Qur'an. Thus, it is concluded that the product of science teaching materials integrated with al-Qur'an verses is appropriate for improving students' religious attitudes in madrasah.

Application of the PBL Model with Multimedia in Improving Class IV Social and Science Learning Result at SDN Nglanduk 2

Teachers still face various challenges in implementing learning in the classroom. Some of them are students who are less active, lack of use of technology, lack of use of concrete objects, and students' social and science learning outcomes that have not yet reached the criteria for achieving learning objectives. The research entitled "Application of the PBL Model with Multimedia in Improving Class IV Social and Science Learning Result at SDN Nglanduk 2" aims to describe the steps for implementing the PBL model with multimedia in improving Class IV Social and Science learning result and identify whether the PBL model with multimedia can improve learning result class IV. The Problem Based Learning (PBL) model is a learning model whose application uses concrete problems to develop problem solving and critical thinking skills so that it can improve student learning outcomes. Multimedia can attract students' attention and make learning more enjoyable. This research was carried out at SDN Nglanduk 2. The classroom action research procedure used refers to the Action Research methodology, namely 1) Planning, 2) Action (Implementation of Action), 3) Observation (Observation), 4) Reflection (Reflection), which is carried out in 2 cycles. Learning evaluation is carried out after the material is presented to find out to what extent students can understand the material being taught. The evaluation results show that there is an increase in learning outcomes, namely in cycle I it was 40%, up 20% to 60% and cycle II, namely 60%, up 40% to 100%. From this Classroom Action research it can be concluded that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with multimedia can improve social and science learning for class IV at SDN Nglanduk 2.

EFEKTIVITAS MEDIA ULAR TANGGA EDUKASI TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR DALAM PEMBELAJARAN IPAS PADA KELAS IV SD ATTIN NAMOSAIN

This research is a quantitative research, this research aims to determine the effect of the effectiveness of snakes and ladders media on the learning outcomes of class IV students in science and science learning at Attin Namosain Elementary School. The type of Quasi Experimental Design approach is Pretest Posttest Nonequivalent Control Group Design. This research used a population and sample, namely all class IV students consisting of 44 students (22 control class students and 22 experimental class students). The data collection techniques used were test techniques and observation sheets for the implementation of learning media. Based on the analysis of the data results, it shows that the sig (2-tailed) value is 0.000<0.005, with a significance level = 0.05(5%). Furthermore, the results of the N-Gain Score test in the experimental class which applied snakes and ladders media was 71.16% and was included in the effective category. There is a significant influence of snakes and ladders media on the learning outcomes of class IV students in science learning at Attin Namosain Elementary School.

Factors to Improve School Management and Social Science Student Learning Outcomes Through Cooperation with Parents

The curriculum expects parental involvement in their children's education. Actively involving parents in the learning process can improve student learning outcomes. But the fact is that many schools do not involve parents because of social gaps. It is urgent to study the gap between the expectation that parents are involved in schools and the fact that many schools do not involve parents. This study aims to determine the background of the parents studied and to provide a descriptive analysis of the school's cooperation with parents in stimulating them to be involved in their children's education. The research sample consisted of 285 parents of junior high school social studies students who were selected randomly. The study used quantitative data, collected through a questionnaire that was compiled and developed based on indicators. The data analysis technique used descriptive statistics with the help of SPSS version 25.0 by calculating the mean, percentage, and standard deviation for each indicator and interpreting them. The results found a significant relationship between school and parent collaboration in improving their children's education. The more the parents feel that their presence is appreciated by the school, the greater their involvement in their children's education. The conclusion reached was that a sound relationship established by the school can encourage parents to be directly involved in various educational activities and important activities organized by the school.

Science Learning for Early Childhood Students with Science Games Play

From an early age children must be equipped with various sciences knowledge, including science. This research aims to review various sources about the science play as a form of learning method at the PAUD level as well as knowing the effectiveness of the science play method in learning science learning in early childhood. Science learning is a process that emphasizes skills of acquiring knowledge and developing scientific attitudes. Science learning is a process of understanding the nature of science itself, namely curiosity, process, product and application/attitude. The literature that was collected in the form of journals, articles and books relevant to the topic, then interpret and analyzed the sources, interpretation of the sources and compiled them in a systematically and structured. Early childhood is a period of child development that is interesting to observe. This is because it involves complex processes, both those that occur inside (physiological and psychological) and outside (environment). The science play method is effective in learning science in early childhood, including; it can improve science abilities and science learning outcomes, introduce and improve basic science process skills and improve children's science concepts.

The Development of Raya-In: Learning Media Based on Smart Apps Creator to Improve Primary School Social Science Learning

Technology-based learning media in social science are not readily available in primary schools. Meanwhile, learning media, especially technology-based, supports social science competencies for primary school students. This study aimed to develop learning media, named Raya-In (Ragam Budaya Indonesia), based on Smart Apps Creator to improve the social science learning of fourth-grade students in SDN Kangkung 01 within the Indonesian cultural diversity theme. This study used the Borg and Gall model design, which consisted of 8 stages: potential and problem analysis, data collection, product design, product validation, revision, small-scale trial, large-scale trial, and final product. The study involved media experts and content experts to validate the media. The subjects were fourth-grade students of SDN Kangkung 1 (n=39). Data was collected by observation, interview, pretest, questionnaire, documentation, and posttest. The final result showed that Raya-In passed the media and content experts' evaluation and revision processes. The media and content experts gave high scores in the qualified category. The Pretest, posttest, T-test, and N-gain tests showed that Raya-In supported social science learning. The study aligned with learning in the current era, using technology-based media. Raya-In development based on Smart Apps Creator was validated to support social science learning in primary school.

Analysis of the Use of Learning Media on the Learning Interest of Learning Science Students and Environmental Themes

Learning media is an important element in the educational process that affects the effectiveness of information delivery and student understanding. This study aims to analyze the use of science and technology learning media; analyze students' interest in learning about the use of science and technology learning media; and analyze the role of the use of learning media needed in science and science learning grade IV at Reban Elementary School, Reban District, Batang Regency. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of the study were 25 grade IV students at SD Negeri Reban. Data collection uses observation, interview, questionnaire and documentation techniques. This study uses a data validity technique in the form of a credibility test with technical triangulation. Through the analysis process of the Miles and Huberman Model, it was shown that the use of learning media applied in grade IV at SDN Reban included PPT, YouTube videos, Quizizz, concrete objects and media made using objects around it. The correct selection and use of media will affect students' interest in learning. Various kinds of learning media that have been applied in grade IV at SDN Reban have increased students' interest in learning. Behaviors that show student interest are feeling happy, feeling comfortable, paying attention to the teacher, being more active in learning, enthusiastic, taking notes on important things related to the material, and following lessons well and in an orderly manner. Learning media has succeeded in playing an important role in the learning process. The presence of learning media has a significant impact on learning, including making students enthusiastic; arousing students' interest; fostering motivation to learn; students become more active in learning; making it easier for students to understand the concept of the material; receive information more effectively and efficiently, overcome space and time limitations, and apply technology to students.
