Dienes block media assisted by mathematical worksheets to improve student learning outcomes: Teacher action research

The development of science has shifted the process of learning mathematics from previously only involving numbers to numbers that have meaning, one of which is in the form of stories. However, many problems still need to be solved with the concept of addition and subtraction in the form of story problems. This research aims to improve student learning outcomes in addition and subtraction material through story problems. This research used the Teacher Action Research (TAR) approach with 14 second-grade students at Ciren Elementary School, Indonesia as participants. This research also used two data collection methods: providing mathematical worksheets and observations carried out by special observers. Data analysis was carried out by looking at the mean student scores, reflecting through FGDs with observers, and filling in observation sheets by the teacher. Furthermore, the results of this research are presented in the form of teacher observation sheet scores and mathematical worksheet work results. The score results on the observation sheet show an increase in scores from learning in cycle 1 to cycle 2. In addition, the average score of students' mathematical worksheets after intervention in the form of dienes block media and mathematical worksheets always increases with pre-cycle details (48), cycle I (80), and cycle II (84). Thus, using dienes block media assisted by mathematical worksheets can have direct implications for improving mathematics learning in addition and subtraction operation material.

Application of Games-Based Mathematics Learning in the Preschool-Elementary Transition

The results of this study aim to understand the use of Elementary Mathematics Games in Mathematics and Science Learning for PIAUD and PGMI Study Program Students during the PAUD-SD transition period. The research design used a descriptive quantitative approach with data collection techniques through questionnaire distribution. The results of the study found that: 1) Knowledge of Elementary Mathematics Games amounted to 92%; 2) the technique of using Elementary Mathematics Games in lecture activities has increased by 85%; 3) the difficulty faced in the process of using SD Mathematics Games amounted to 80%; 4) the integration technique of SD Mathematics Games is very easy to apply in activities Mathematics and Science Learning in PIAUD and PGMI Study Programs is 90%; 5) The percentage of usefulness in the use of Elementary Mathematics Games in the Mathematics and Science Learning process in the PIAUD and PGMI Study Programs is 95% with a benefit level of 76-100%. Thus, the use of Elementary Mathematics Games can be used in developing material from teaching materials for lecturers, teachers, and students in learning process activities.

THE USE OF BIG BOOK MATHEMATICS MEDIA ON STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES ON BUILDING MATERIAL FLAT CLASS IV MIN 11 ACEH MIDDLE

The main problem in this research is that the process of learning mathematics in plane material only relies on memorizing formulas, this occurs in students who do not understand the material. This research aims to determine the influence of the big book mathematics media on the learning outcomes of class IV MIN 11 Central Aceh students. The research was conducted using quantitative methods with a Nonequivalent Group Design. The population in this study were all class IV students at MIN 11 Central Aceh, while the sample was class totaling 16 students and class totaling 14 students. This research instrument uses a learning outcomes test sheet and the data collection technique used is the test technique and uses the t-test in analyzing the data. Based on the results of the analysis that has been carried out, the average score obtained in the Pre-Test for the experimental class was 50.642 and for the control class with an average score of 46.437. Meanwhile, in the Post-Test, the average score obtained by the experimental class was 74.5 and the control class had an average score of 62.81. THE DIDACTIC GAME " DIRETO INVERSO”: A TOOL FOR SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS TEACHING

Faced with the reality of education in our country, it’s noticeable the need to seek new methodologies, teaching tools and teacher training, as a way to make the educational process efficient and consistent with the expected objectives for the present day. Thereby, this academic work aims to propose the development of a didactic game involving magnitudes and their proportionality relations for the final grades of Elementary School, as a methodological resource that facilitates the teaching and learning process of mathematics and science. The game “Direto Inverso” is a board game with a treasure hunt theme in which its players will win coins by solving problem situations involving inversely and directly proportional magnitudes, with the ultimate goal of conquering the treasure chest of knowledge. The game was applied in three moments, in two public schools in the Federal District and in an event of educational practices and experiences, and with different audiences: elementary and high school students and educators. After the application, a QR code was made available that directed the player to an evaluation questionnaire containing objective and subjective questions. Based on the responses, it was observed that the game had excellent acceptability in several aspects. Regarding the game's design, most players found it attractive; with regard to the content addressed, more than 90% of participants said they learned the content while playing, these and other results confirmed the game as an effective tool for the teaching and learning process. At the end of the games, the comments were generally positive, with more than 89% of participants interested in playing again at another opportunity. Thus, it can be concluded that the game "Direto Inverso" contributed to the students' learning in a considerable way, aroused interest in the content without being repelled by mathematics, in addition, the game was considered attractive, allowing students to build knowledge among the sciences in a fun way.

EFFORTS TO IMPROVE MATHEMATICS COGNITIVE LEARNING OUTCOMES THROUGH BRUNER'S LEARNING THEORY APPROACH FOR CLASS II STUDENTS OF CITAMIANG LAKBOK CIAMIS MADRASAH IBTIDAIYAH

Mathematics subjects are given since Elementary School/Madrasah Ibtidaiyah at the formal school level. Based on the 2013 Elementary School Content Standards, Mathematics is considered a universal science that will be used as the basis for the development of other sciences. Therefore, for a solid mastery of this knowledge is given early. This research is classroom action research. This research is intended to improve the learning process so that it can improve the cognitive learning outcomes of Mathematics for second graders of MI Citamiang Lakbok. According to Suharsimi Arikunto (2006: 96) classroom action research, namely research conducted by the teacher to the class where he teaches with an emphasis on improving learning processes and practices. Research activities carried out in two cycles. Each cycle is carried out in two meetings. Before carrying out the cycle, the researcher carried out pre-action activities. The process of learning mathematics in class II MI Citamiang Lakbok has increased from only presenting counting techniques to being preceded by concepts. In addition, students are more active in learning activities. The cognitive learning outcomes of MI Citamiang Lakbok class II students also increased. In pre-action only 43% reached KKM. Furthermore, in cycle one it increased to 52% and in cycle two it increased again to 76%. ОСОБЛИВОСТІ ФОРМУВАННЯ ІНФОРМАЦІЙНО-КОМУНІКАЦІЙНОЇКОМПЕТЕНТНОСТІ УЧНІВ НА УРОКАХ МАТЕМАТИКИ

To delineate and substantiate the nuances of developing information and communication competence in students during mathematics lessons, we conducted an extensive analysis of state educational regulations, including the Law of Ukraine "On Education," the New Ukrainian School Concept, the Concept of Digital Competence Development, the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education, and mathematics curriculum materials. We also scrutinized sources available on the Internet related to international educational monitoring studies and synthesized both international and domestic pedagogical experience. The study asserts that the formation of information and communication competence in students during mathematics education arises from the demands of the school mathematics curriculum. Mandatory learning outcomes in the mathematical education sector encompass requirements characterizing students' information and communication competence. The process of learning mathematics should facilitate not only the overall development of students' personalities but also the acquisition of a system of mathematical knowledge, improvement of problem-solving skills, and an understanding of the importance of mathematics as the language of science, technology, and innovation. Additionally, students should recognize the significance of information and communication technologies in effectively addressing mathematical challenges. The integrated use of information technologies in the educational process, especially in the context of distance and blended learning, contributes to the development of students' information and communication competence. This is contingent upon the methodically sound selection of educational content, didactic materials, and teaching strategies by educators. It is elucidated that the primary means of cultivating students' information and communication competence lies in the specialized system of educational tasks and examples present in school mathematics textbooks. These materials are designed to foster students' personal qualities, creativity, critical thinking, and their ability to generate and articulate their thoughts.

Philosophy of Mathematics in Primary Education Mathematics Learning: Ontological, Epistemological, and Methodological

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship, position, and role of the philosophy of mathematics in learning mathematics in basic education through the perspective of the scope of philosophy, namely ontological mathematics, epistemological mathematics, and methodological mathematics. This research is a qualitative descriptive research with a literature study approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through the documentation method of articles originating from the Google Scholar database, as well as books related to the philosophy of mathematics. Data analysis techniques consist of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results highlight three main aspects within the scope of the philosophy of mathematics: ontological, epistemological, and methodological. Ontological mathematics addresses the ontological foundations of mathematics for teaching, including the role of mathematics in various contexts. The epistemology of mathematics emphasizes the importance of understanding the discipline from multiple perspectives to enhance learning and curriculum design. Meanwhile, the methodology of mathematics highlights the role of specific methods in determining mathematical solutions. In conclusion, understanding the philosophy of mathematics in these three aspects is important for educators to improve the learning process of mathematics at the primary level comprehensively and optimally.

Management of semiotic representations in mathematics: Quantifications and new characterizations

As highlighted in the literature, one of the main difficulties in mathematics is the management of different semiotic representations. This difficulty occurs in verticals throughout schooling and is often an obstacle to the proper learning process of mathematics. The present study aims to investigate the different facets of these difficulties with regard to mathematical tasks in secondary school. In particular, questions from Italian large-scale mathematics assessments are analyzed and interpreted through the theoretical lens of Duval’s (1993) theory. Statistical analyses on a robust national sample allow a framing of the main difficulties and provide valuable information in this field.

Google sites-based math book development on statistical materials to improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts

The Effectiveness of Creative Problem Solving Through Concrete Media Towards Creative Thinking Skill of the Fourth Grade Students at SDN 1 Kaliombo

The process of learning mathematics only focuses on understanding students but have not been able to develop their creative way of thinking. Students do not have the opportunity to explore answers or ways that are different from what the teacher teaches, so students cannot be creative in finding answers. The application of the creative problem solving learning model and concrete media in the form of nets of cubes and blocks is one solution to this problem. The purpose of this research is to find out: the difference in the average value of creative thinking skills after using the creative problem solving model and concrete media for fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Kaliombo. The experimental approach used in this research is the Pre-Experimental Design model in the form of a Pretest-Posttest Group Design. This study used fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Kaliombo as subjects, taking samples using total sampling or census. The research data was obtained from a statistical analysis of the t-test in the form of a Paired Sample t-Test. This study shows that: there is a difference in the average value before and after using the creative problem solving model and concrete media with a significance of 0.000 <0.025. Therefore, the CPS model assisted by concrete media can be said to have an effect on students' creative thinking abilities.

IMPROVING THE RESULT OF STUDENTS’ LEARNING ON SQUARE AND RECTANGLE MATERY THROUGH COLLABORATIVE LEARNING AT CLASS VII MTS YTPI AL-BUKHARI MUSLIM

This study aims to find out: 1) Students mathematics learning outcomes before and after being taught with collaborative learning at class VII MTs YTPI Al-Bukhari Muslim. 2) Improving students mathematics learning outcomes through collaborative learning at class VII MTs YTPI Al-Bukhari Muslim. 3) The process of learning mathematics through collaborative learning at class VII MTs YTPI Al-Bukhari Muslim MTs. 4) Response of students taught through collaborative learning at class VII MTs YTPI Al-Bukhari Muslim. The research method used is classroom action research with the aim of improving the quality of classroom learning practices and improving the results of mathematics learning. Respondents in this study were seventh grade students of MTs YTPI Al-Bukhari Muslim. The types of data obtained in this study are quantitative data and qualitative data. The results of this study indicate that learning by implementing collaborative learning for the cycle I of 23 students on the test I learning outcomes there are 16 students (69,57%) who achieve mastery learning, while 7 more students (30,43%) have not achieve mastery learning with classical completeness of 69.57%. In the learning outcomes test II for the cycle II has reached as many as 19 students learning completeness (82,61%), while 4 students (17,39%) have not achieved mastery learning with classical completeness of 82,61% to obtain improved learning outcomes mathematics in cycle I and cycle II was 13,04%. This shows that collaborative learning can improve student learning outcomes and student activities and can be used as an alternative to improve student learning interest.

How does Math Anxiety affect Students’ Problem Solving Ability? A case of Ill Structured Problem Mathematics Problem

The process of learning mathematics for some students can cause anxiety. The anxiety experienced by students can interfere with the mathematics learning process, especially in students' ability to solve mathematical problems. This study is qualitative descriptive research that aims to analyze problem-solving abilities in terms of mathematical anxiety. Researchers tested the ability to solve problems ill-structured on six grade VIII students of SMPN 1 Kemlagi in Mojokerto. The six students consisted of two students with high math anxiety, two students with moderate math anxiety, and two students with low math anxiety. The results of data analysis showed ill-structured problem-solving abilities (1) students with low and moderate anxiety levels were able to reach the stage of understanding problems, making plans, and re-examining very well; (2) students with low levels of mathematical anxiety have reached the stage of executing the plan very well, while students with moderate levels of mathematical anxiety have not reached this stage because there are still errors in making calculations; (3) students with high levels of math anxiety have not been able to reach all stages of problem-solving. This study suggests that teachers pay more attention that math anxiety as one of the factors that must be considered in mathematics learning

The Geometrical Patterns and Philosophical Value of Javanese Traditional Mosque Architecture for Mathematics Learning in Primary School: An Ethnomathematic Study

Aim. This study is an ethnomathematical study that aims to describe and interpret the philosophical value and geometrical patterns of the famous architecture and ornament of the Indonesian traditional Mosque. Methods. This report subsequently used an ethnographic method, with data being obtained through observation, documentation, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Furthermore, the study subjects were a cultural practitioner and a group of educators, containing five primary school teachers in Central Java, Indonesia. Interviews, observation, and documentation were conducted during the research. The data was analysed qualitatively. Results. First, from the data analysis, it was found that there are several philosophical values contained in the architecture and ornaments of a Javanese traditional mosque such as the relationship that must always exist between humans and God and fellow human beings, Islam, iman (faith), Ihsan (kindness), openness, honesty, obedience, and humility. The second indicates the relationship between the Javanese architecture and ornament of the Indonesian traditional Mosque and the geometrical patterns (the cuboid, and cylinder), symmetrical patterns, and geometry transformation (rotation) used as the source of learning and starting point to the mathematical learning process. Conclusions. These results were specifically useful to primary school teachers when teaching geometry. Through culture as a context or starting point, the new mathematical learning resource was also used for geometric learning. In addition, the philosophical significance of these artifacts fostered an interest in the indigenous culture and good character values.

Evaluation of the Effectiveness of the "Mathematica Application" in Examining and Graphing Quadratic Functions

This scientific paper aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the “Mathematica Application” in examining and graphically presenting quadratic functions. This study has the potential to improve teaching and help choose the most effective tools to examine and present quadratic functions. By incorporating the Mathematica application into the teaching and learning process of mathematics, students' interaction and understanding of this important mathematical topic can be increased. The method used to evaluate the effectiveness of the “Mathematica Application” is a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis. In the qualitative analysis, we will examine the students' experience with the Mathematica application in examining quadratic functions and their graphical presentation. The users will be students who have used the application to study quadratic functions in the context of learning mathematics. Also, we will use quantitative analysis to analyze the performance of the Mathematica application in the graphical presentation of quadratic functions. We have selected a data set of well-known quadratic functions and will use them to graph these functions. The sample of the study will be represented by students in the tenth grade, which is a purposive sample since these learning units are covered in this class. The results of this evaluation will be of importance to the community of mathematicians and users of the Mathematica application. They will have a clear appreciation of the capabilities and performance of the Mathematica application in examining and graphing quadratic functions. This information can be used to improve teaching and to decide whether the Mathematica application is an appropriate tool for studying quadratic functions in the context of mathematics education.

The Use Of Flat Structure Puzzles To Improve Fine Motor Ability In Students With Visual Disabilities

This study aims to determine the process of learning mathematics in students with visual disabilities. Researchers use the experimental method, where the experimental method is part of the quantitative method. Data collection uses a questionnaire to find out the results of learning mathematics in students with visual disabilities. The subject of this study was one of the 3rd-grade students at special education school SDLB Purwosari Kudus who has special needs and is visually impaired. The results of the study show that in the process of teaching activities, the teacher only provides material and the teacher does not provide examples of learning media to students. Students with visual disabilities have difficulties in mathematics lessons, where the teacher only explains the material to students in the process of teaching and learning activities, but students have a high curiosity and enthusiasm for the material being taught. Meanwhile, the limitations of learning media and school facilities are inhibiting factors in teaching and learning mathematics for students with visual disabilities. Seeing these conditions, the researcher chose the Flat Puzzle learning media.

PENERAPAN METODE GUIDED NOTE TAKING (GNT) PADA MATERI LINGKARAN SISWA SMP

This research aims to improve the Mathematics learning process for class VIIA students at SMP Negeri 4 Wolowaru and to determine the improvement in student learning outcomes using the Guided Note Taking (GNT) method for class VIIA students at SMP Negeri 4 Wolowaru. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) with a qualitative approach. This research was carried out at SMP Negeri 4 Wolowaru class VIIA with a total of 22 students consisting of 13 male students and 9 female students. Data collection techniques are carried out using observation, tests and documentation. Indicators of student success are characterized by increasing student learning outcomes with a KKTP of 65 and student completion reaching 75%. The research results showed that student activity during the learning process took place through the use of the GNT method in cycle I with a percentage of 69.05%, while in cycle II it increased with a percentage of 76.35%. The pre-action test results were 13.64% in cycle I, increasing to 63.63% and increasing in cycle II to 95.45%. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that using the Guided Note Taking method can improve student learning outcomes.

ANALISIS BIBLIOMETRIK: FOKUS PENELITIAN CRITICAL THINKING DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA (2017 – 2022)

Critical thinking can be formed in several ways, one of which is through the process of learning mathematics. This study aims to determine trends and research focus related to critical thinking in mathematics learning. A total of 327 data were obtained from database dimensions. VOSviewer software is used to display visualizations based on bibliographic pairs and events with keywords by the author. Researchers use qualitative research methods. The analysis technique used is descriptive bibliometric analysis and bibliometric visualization method. The results of the study show that the countries of Indonesia and the United States, the Indonesian University of Education and Padang State University, the "journal of physics conference series" and documents (Mutakinati et al., 2018) have been the most influential on critical thinking in learning mathematics in the last five years . The research focus is divided into four of them, namely: 1) STEM approach; 2) Learning with Problem-based learning; 3) Critical thinking in higher education; 4) learning outcomes and creative thinking. STEM is not directly related to geometry material, and problem-based learning is also not directly connected to independent learning.

Prospective Teachers’ Reflections on the Inclusion of Mathematical Modelling During the Transition Period Between the Face-to-Face and Virtual Teaching Contexts

Research in mathematics education highlights the importance of including modelling for the teaching of this subject. In 2020, this trend coexisted with a grave contingency situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic but which, despite its negative aspects, provided a realistic and authentic context for modelling. Given this situation, it is relevant to study which aspects of the teaching and learning process prospective teachers related to mathematical modelling in their reflections on its inclusion during the transition period between the face-to-face and virtual teaching contexts. To this end, we used the didactic suitability criteria construct, proposed by the onto-semiotic approach, as a theoretical reference. This is qualitative research of a naturalistic type, since we did not interfere in the Master’s Programme in Mathematics Teacher Education studied. We conducted a content analysis on 122 master’s degree final projects written during the 2019–2020 course and implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic. We highlight the following results: (a) about 40% of the prospective teachers stated that they implemented modelling in their didactic units and reflected on its inclusion; (b) in their reflections, the prospective teachers positively assessed the inclusion of modelling mainly based on the epistemic, affective and ecological suitability criteria; and (c) 60% of the prospective teachers did not implement modelling, and we rule out that it was due to a lack of knowledge about this process or of a favourable context for modelling, but because they prioritised other aspects of the mathematical teaching and learning process, given the grave contingency situation.

IMPLEMENTASI PEMIKIRAN DIGITALISASI DAN FUTURISTIK DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA DI SD

The digital era is the division of the economy caused by technological developments that refer to opportunities that impact education. This influence is called digitization in the learning process. The method used is a literature study by reviewing ten articles in national journals and then analyzing them according to the indicators of this study, namely digitization and futuristics. The results showed that (1) Learning is not limited by time and space; (2) Ease of obtaining information not only by teachers and students but also everyonel (3) Education requires learning to follow the development of innovative and creative technology to produce curriculum updates and other learning tools. One example of technological growth in line with futuristic thinking that can apply to mathematics learning in elementary schools is the application of GeoGebra, which can assist students in visualizing the mathematical learning process and tools for teachers in providing geometry to students.

Efektivitas Strategi Murder (Mood, Understand, Recall, Digest, Expand, Review) Terhadap Hasil Belajar Matematika Siswa

<p>This type of research is pre-experimental with the research design used, namely the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design which involves one class as an experimental class that aims to determine the effectiveness of learning mathematics through the application of the MURDER strategy to class X students of SMAN 7 Wajo. The sample in this study was class X IPA 1 with a total of 36 students. Data collection techniques used to collect data are tests of students' mathematics learning outcomes, student activity observation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The analysis of the research data is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The results showed that the effectiveness of learning mathematics through the application of the MURDER strategy to class X students of SMAN 7 Wajo was effectively applied with the following description: (1) The increase in students' mathematics learning outcomes after the application of the MURDER strategy was in the medium category with an average normalized gain value of 0.699. (2) Student activity during the process of learning mathematics through the application of the MURDER strategy is in the active category with an average active student of 82%. (3) Student response to the process of learning mathematics through the application of the MURDER strategy reaches 81%, which is positive.</p>
