Students Engagement in Classroom Teaching by Innovative Pedagogy: A desk-based Review of Existing Literature

The use of modern teaching methods in the social sciences classroom under higher levels of education is presently required to increase learning achievement through student participation. The pace of change in educational structures, curricula, teaching-learning activities, and learning outcomes should be able to keep up with all kinds of developments taking place in the world. Innovative is one of the newly developed approaches that can be used to increase students' active engagement, particularly in social science disciplines. A thorough literature search technique was employed to find the literature relevant to this study. The datasets up to 2024 were utilized for descriptive analyses of effective instructional techniques. The research-based articles and reports were used from digital and physical libraries. The easily accessible web search engine Google Scholar and other freely accessible databases such as Academia, ResearchGate, NAPJOL, JSTOR, ProQuest, and Elsevier were used. The findings indicate that innovative teaching methods promote the active participation of students through hands-on experiences. This approach significantly enhances learning outcomes in social science and helps for applying theories in real life. This technique promotes a more dynamic learning environment by encouraging teachers to adopt innovative and creative teaching methods, which in turn increases student engagement, motivation, and academic achievement. Integrating innovative pedagogies into activity-based instruction techniques empowers teachers to cultivate pupils' success, equipping them with essential skills for thriving in the 21st century.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INTRINSIC LEARNING MOTIVATION AND STUDENTS LEARNING ACHIEVEMENTS IN NURSING ASSISTANT DEPARTMENT AT VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL 8 BATAM

Intrinsic learning motivation is a strong drive or desire that comes from within a person to achieve optimal learning achievement from within themselves. Students will be more enthusiastic and responsible for the learning activities they participate in, which can be beneficial for their needs in achieving satisfactory learning achievement. This study aims to determine the relationship between intrinsic learning motivation and learning achievement in students majoring in Nursing Assistant at SMK Negeri 8 Batam. This study uses a cross-sectional method. The number of samples in this study was 91 students majoring in Nursing Assistant with a technique of total sampling. The research results showed that univariate analysis of the frequency of high intrinsic learning motivation was obtained by 40 students (43.9%), results of the frequency of student achievement increasing were obtained by 52 students (57.1%), and students who have high intrinsic learning motivation with increasing learning achievement are 31 students (34.1%). Meanwhile, bivariate analysis use Chi Square shows a p-value of 0.007 < 0.05, meaning that there is a significant relationship between positive intrinsic learning motivation and student achievement in the Nursing Assistant Department of SMK Negeri 8 Batam. Students are advised to be more active in asking questions during the teaching and learning process and to independently repeat the lessons they have learned to prepare for the exam.

Influence of School Working Conditions of Teachers’ Turnover on Learning Achievement in Biology in Public Secondary Schools in Garissa County, Kenya

The modern propensity toward multi-disciplinary research and the alignment of scientific knowledge from different fields has led to significant overlap of the field of Biological sciences with other scientific disciplines. Modern principles of other fields such as Chemistry, Medicine, and Physics are integrated with those of Biology in areas such as Biochemistry, Biomedicine, and Biophysics, making Biology a valuable subject to humankind. However, the government’s inability to retain qualified and experienced teachers in some schools due to high turnover impacts negatively on the students’ learning achievement in this subject. This paper looks into the influence of school working conditions of teachers’ turnover on learning achievement in Biology in public secondary schools in Garissa County. The study was conducted using pragmatic worldview and adopted a convergent mixed-methods design. With a target population of 2786 respondents from 40 public secondary schools, a sample size of 387 respondents was obtained. Using stratified random sampling, 27 schools were selected from which 336 students and 51 teachers of Biology were randomly and purposively drawn respectively. Data collection was done using Biology teacher questionnaire and document analysis guide. The quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics while qualitative data was analyzed thematically. The study findings showed that school working conditions (r=0.73, p<0.05) had a positive significant correlation with students’ learning achievement in Biology. Qualitative data findings revealed that majority of the teachers intended to transfer from rural to urban schools on the basis of unsuitable working conditions and insecurity. The study concluded that school working conditions of teachers’ turnover influenced low learning achievement in Biology in the study area. The study therefore, recommended strategies that should lower teacher turnover and increase learning achievement in Biology as follows; school principals should provide good leadership and adequate instructional resources for effective teaching of Biology while the government should post security officers to every learning institution in Garissa County to safeguard the non-local teachers’ safety and security

Teachers’ Job Satisfaction and Turnover: Re-Examining Learning Achievement in Biology in Public Secondary Schools, Garissa County, Kenya

Teachers spend lengthy periods of their lifetime in school work environments and their satisfaction in the job has crucially far-reaching implications. Besides making them feel good about themselves, job satisfaction draws on teachers’ well-being as satisfied teachers are less susceptible to leaving their positions. The aim of this paper was to evaluate teachers’ job satisfaction as a teachers’ turnover factor in influencing learning achievement in Biology in public secondary schools in Garissa County. Guided by Becker’s Human Capital Theory of Occupational Choice, the study was driven by a philosophical paradigm borrowed from the Pragmatic Worldview and adopted a convergent mixed-methods research design. The study targeted 2786 respondents comprising 2691 form three students and 95 Biology teachers from 40 public secondary schools from which 27 schools were picked through stratified random sampling. The sample size constituted 336 form three students and 51 Biology teachers obtained through simple random and purposive sampling respectively. Questionnaire and document analysis guide were used in data collection. Both descriptive and inferential statistics using Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Linear Regression were done. The study established that job satisfaction (r=0.67, p<0.05) had a positive significant correlation with learning achievement in Biology. The study therefore concluded that, teachers’ job satisfaction influenced learning achievement in Biology in public secondary schools in Garissa County. The study recommended strategies that should lower teacher turnover and increase learning achievement in Biology thus; re-visit salary schemes for teachers to ensure they re-visit salary schemes for teachers in public secondary schools to ensure teachers are well paid besides are well paid, teacher promotions should be streamlined and staff development opportunities enhanced.

PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING MODEL IN IMPROVING LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT OF FLAT BUILDING MATERIAL IN GRADE THREE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The research carried out against the background of the low achievement of students in learning mathematics flat building material in class III. The purpose of researchers carrying out research is to increase learning achievement by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model to students. The research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with 2 cycles and each cycle is applied to 2 meetings, each meeting consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection of learning. Tools used by researchers to collect data are written test questions, activity and observation sheets for teachers and activity and observation sheets for students, and documentation. The subjects of this study were 12 students at an elementary school located in Kembaran District, Banyumas Regency. The learning outcomes before the research was conducted had an average learning outcome score of 65.83. Research results and shows the first cycle of the results of the value of students got an average of 83.33. There was an increase in cycle II with an achievement of 92.5 on the average learning value of students. This proves that PBL can increase the learning achievement of grade III students and motivation in flat building material.

Problem-based learning and problem solving model: which is more effective in improving student learning achievement?

Identifying the syntax of student learning experiences in learning models helps lecturers be more selective in determining the relevance of learning models and student learning achievements that lecturers have previously formulated. This research aims to determine the increase in student learning achievement, using the problem-based learning (PBL) learning model and the problem-solving (PS) learning model, testing the differences in the application of the PBL and PS models on student learning achievement, and finding out which learning model is more effective in improving Student learning outcomes in sports sociology courses. This research is a quasi-experimental research with a pre-test-post-test non-equivalent comparison-group design. The research sample consisted of 60 students (30 PBL and 30 PS groups) taking sports sociology courses. The research instrument includes ten learning achievement essay test questions developed from critical thinking indicators. The data was analyzed descriptively, testing differences using the independent sample t-test and N-Gain analysis to see the effectiveness of the PBL and PS models on student learning achievements. The research results prove an increase in learning achievement for both groups using PBL and PS. Meanwhile, from the results of statistical tests, there are significant differences in learning achievement between the PBL and PS groups. Furthermore, from the results of the N-Gain test, it turns out that PBL is more effective in improving student learning achievement than the PS model. Science Learning Achievement of Class IV Students at State Elementary School 2 Segeran

This study aims to improve learning achievement by enhancing the Problem-solving learning model in science lessons on plant material in class IV students at State Elementary School 2 Segeran, Juntinyuat District, Indramayu Regency. This is a Class Action Research (CAR) conducted in 2 cycles. The research subjects were 29 Class IV students at State Elementary School 2 Segeran, Juntinyuat District, Indramayu Regency. Research data was obtained through tests, observations, and documentation. Data analysis used a qualitative descriptive analysis technique. The study results showed an increase in the learning achievement of Class IV students at State Elementary School 2 Segeran, Juntinyuat District, Indramayu Regency through the Problem-solving learning model. Improvement in learning achievement is indicated by an increase in the average percentage of aspects of student learning outcomes from 41% in pre-cycle to 51% in cycle I, then increased to 82% in cycle II. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is an increase in student learning achievement in learning through the application of the Problem-solving learning model in the Natural Sciences subject matter Plants in class IV students at State Elementary School 2 Segeran, Juntinyuat District, Indramayu Regency

Positive Factors of Student Learning Orientation in Improving Student Understanding and Learning Outcomes

The low results of learning mathematics from year to year give rise to students' perception that mathematics is a difficult subject. This needs to be researched to analyze the relationship between mathematics learning attitudes, anxiety, and habits, and evaluate additional mathematics learning outcomes. Quantitative research method with a survey approach. The research subjects were 253 people using random sampling. The data collection technique uses an instrument adapted from Learning Orientation which includes attitudes, attention, and study habits totaling 52 items. The analysis technique uses correlation and regression with SPSS version 26.0 software. The research results show that attitudes, habits, and anxiety are positively and significantly related to learning. Learning anxiety has a moderate relationship, while attitudes and study habits have a weak relationship with increasing learning achievement. Another finding is that learning anxiety is the main predictor of additional material, compared to attitudes and study habits. In conclusion, learning orientation is one of the factors that plays a very important role in determining the level of student learning achievement. This contribution provides information that students who have a positive attitude in learning show good study habits, therefore the teacher's role is needed to build a positive attitude.

Increasing Learning Achievement in Memorizing Surah Al-Humazah and At-Takatsur Through the Talaqqi Method in Class IV Students of MIN 1 North Aceh

The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of achievement. teacher and student activities and the response of fourth grade students of MIN 1 North Aceh through the Talaqqi Method on the material of Memorizing surah Al-Lahab and Al-Insyirah. This study is a qualitative study with the type of Classroom Action Research (CAR). This study was carried out in 2 cycles, namely the action cycle I consisting of 10 meetings and the action cycle II. The data collected in this study were in the form of test results which included: final test of each cycle's action, observation results which included the results of observations of teacher and student activities, and the results of data distribution of response questionnaires to students. The data source in this study was 21 fourth grade students of MIN 1 North Aceh. For data analysis, the percentage formula was used. The application of learning using the talaqqi method can improve student learning outcomes, with a percentage figure in cycle I of 71.43% and in cycle II becoming 90.47%. The activities of teachers and students using the talaqqi method are included in the very good category. This can be seen from the results of observations of teacher activities which reached 92.19%, while student activities reached 89.06%. The response of students at MIN 1 North Aceh in implementing the talaqqi method was in the very good category, namely 90% stated that they were happy.

Learning Revolution: The Positive Impact of Computer Simulations on Science Achievement in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah

Purpose of the study: This study aimed to investigate the impact of using computer simulation media on the learning achievement of elementary school students in Natural Sciences, particularly focusing on fourth-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Ma'arif Global Blotongan Salatiga. Methodology: The study employed a quasi-experimental design using computer simulation media for experimental group teaching and conventional methods for the control group. The sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique, in which two classes were selected from the class IV population, namely one class as the experimental group and one class as the control group. Each class consists of 30 students. Data collection involved pre-tests, post-tests, and questionnaires to measure student interest and motivation. Analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. Main Findings: The study found a significant increase in learning achievement among students who used computer simulation media compared to those who did not. Post-test results revealed higher scores for the experimental group. Questionnaire responses indicated increased student interest and motivation in the experimental group. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study contributes to the existing literature by specifically examining the effectiveness of computer simulation media in enhancing learning outcomes in Natural Sciences among elementary school students in a Madrasah setting. It fills a gap in research by providing empirical evidence of the positive impact of such media on student performance and motivation, thus advocating for the integration of technology in primary education.

Peningkatan Prestasi Belajar Matematika Siswa Kelas VIII Melalui Pembelajaran Sosial Emosional di SMPN 1 Takeran

This research was motivated by the low mathematics learning achievement and emotional social abilities of class VIII students at SMPN 1 Takeran. Low mathematics learning achievement can be seen through students' mathematics scores, while students' social emotional abilities can be seen through students' attitudes and social emotional questionnaire results. This research is classroom action research involving 24 class VIII students. The aim of this research is to improve the mathematics learning achievement of class VIII students at SMPN 1 Takeran by implementing social emotional learning. Researchers used data collection techniques in the form of tests, questionnaires and interviews. From the research results, it was found that social emotional abilities influence students' mathematics learning achievement. The results showed that students' initial mathematics learning achievement (average 64.83, percentage of learning completeness 54%) increased in cycle I (average 72.17, percentage of learning completeness 71%) then increased again in cycle II (average average 77.88, percentage of learning completeness 83%). There was an increase in learning achievement from cycle I and cycle II, with an increase in the percentage of success of 12% and an average increase of 5.71. So, based on the analysis of research results, it can be concluded that the application of the social emotional learning approach to class VIII students at SMPN 1 Takeran succeeded in increasing mathematics learning achievement

Peningkatan Prestasi dan Kemandirian Belajar Matematika Melalui Model Pembelajaran STAD Menggunakan Media Berbasis Aplikasi Canva

This study was conducted to apply the STAD (Student Team Achievement Division) type cooperative learning model using Canva application-based media to improve achievement and independence in learning media-assisted mathematics through Canva applications for fourth-grade students of SDN Gunungmujil. The procedure used in this research is classroom action research consisting of 2 cycles where each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, evaluation, and reflection stages. The assessment instruments used in this research are teacher observation sheets and student observation sheets, as well as evaluation questions, while LKPD is used during discovery activities. The results of cycle I and cycle II showed that the level of learning completeness increased by 73.83% and 93.36%, respectively. The increase in the level of learning completeness was accompanied by an increase in classical learning achievement, at least 75% of students achieved a score ≥ 70. The results of the research on student learning independence also showed an increase from cycle I of 61.07% and the results of cycle II to 86.25%. The conclusion of this research is that there is an increase in learning achievement and learning independence of students using the STAD-type cooperative learning model through Canva application-based media. STAD model learning must continue to be implemented to improve the achievement and learning independence of elementary school students. Exploring Students’ Perception of Quizizz as a Learning Media in Higher Education

The use of game in education has been evidenced to improve students’ engagement in learning. However, much research shows that the use of game in learning is only effective for high school students, while its use for students of higher education is limited. Research on game in education has predominantly been occupied by Kahoot! while Quizizz has received less analysis. This research aims to explore student perception of Quizizz as a learning media and the related obstacles experienced in a library science study program of State Islamic University of North Sumatera in Indonesia. The research uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, such as survey and focused group discussion, with a sample of 272 undergraduate students. The study found that the use of games in learning actively increased student engagement and led to a significant improvement in independence and self-control in learning. During the learning activity students maintain that they gain their self-confidence while enjoying the game. The research suggests that to increase learning achievement, educators should use various teaching strategies that encourage students’ active mental and physical engagement. Additionally, it is expected that this learning experience and content will enhance students' retentive memory.

The research results show an increase in learning achievement. There is enhancement on mark average student from 62.78 on implementation pre cycle become 71.78 on cycle I. And There is enhancement return become 81.64 on cycle II. Ascension the Also happen on amount student Which value sufficient Criteria Completeness Minimum (KKM) ie ≥75. In pre cycle only There is One student (7.14%) Which fulfil KKM. Then to eight students (57.14%) Increase in cycle I. And in cycle II to 12 students who met the KKM or 85.71% of all students. So with these results, this research can reach target with exists more from 75% student Which obtain mark in accordance with the KKM ie ≥75.

Internal Factors Influential Social Media Usage toward Students Learning Achievement of Senior High School

The rise of social media platforms in the current era of globalization has caused the behavior change patterns in society. In addition to the positive impacts caused, there have also the negative impacts especially for students. This research purposed to analyze the internal factors that influence social media usage on students learning achievement. This research method was a survey method with path analysis. The research sample was 325 students from a total population of 2,360 students of the state senior high school in Sidikalang City. The findings showed that the variables of morality and discipline had a direct effect on social media usage partially and simultaneously, the variables of morality and discipline had a direct effect on students learning achievement partially and simultaneously, the variables of morality and discipline had an indirect effect on students learning achievement through social media usage partially and simultaneously. The higher morality and discipline of students will increase learning achievement positively. The study results suggested that further research to involve the variables from external factors that are predicted also have a large role in influencing social media usage toward students learning achievement.

The Influence of Memory and Metacognitiveness on Students' Value

Learning behavior has an important role in forming the basis of intellectual, social and emotional development, including for elementary school students. Achieving learning goals and increasing learning achievement can be achieved by paying attention to several aspects, both internal and external. Internal aspects include student learning behavior. The student's learning behavior consists of several components, namely attitude, learning motivation, learning strategies, memory and metacognitive components. This research aims to analyze the contribution of two components of learning behavior, namely memory and metacognitive, to student achievement, namely achievement of grades, at the time of improvement. class. This research is quantitative research with a descriptive approach, data analysis is quantitative/statistical, with the aim of testing the hypothesis that has been applied. Data processing was carried out using regression tests and correlation tests using SPSS version 20. The research subjects were 3rd grade students of SDN 1 Drangong, Serang Regency, SDN Kubang Lesung Kulon and SDN Cimone 3, with a total sample of 94 respondents. The results of the research showed that the independent variables were memory and metacognitive variables, both partially and simultaneously, have a positive effect on the independent variable, namely achievement of grades. The Memory Variable (X1) has a sig value of 0.000 and a calculated t of 5.112. Metacognitive (X2) has a sig value of 0.024 and t count of 4.273. Meanwhile, simultaneously the sig value obtained is 0.000 and the calculated F is 30,256. This can be interpreted that if memory and metacognition increase, then the achievement of grades will also increase

The problem in this research is how to apply the take and give type cooperative learning model to improve the science and science learning achievement of grade V students of UPTD SPF SD Negeri 179 Talumae, Soppeng Regency. This research is graderoom action research which aims to determine the process and results of implementing the take and give type of cooperative learning model to improve science learning achievement for grade V students and to determine the increase in learning achievement in grade V material by implementing the cooperative learning models. take and give type. The approach used in research is a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques used are observation, tests and documentation. The research subjects were grade teachers and 18 students. The carried out in two cycles. In cycle I, the research results on the learning process were at sufficient qualification (C) and the learning test results were at sufficient qualification (C). The Influence of Learning Motivation on Increasing Student Learning Achievement

This study aims to determine whether there is an Effect between Learning Motivation on Increasing Learning Achievement of Islamic Psychology Students in Semester 4 of Raden Fatah State Islamic University Palembang. This study used a quantitative approach with a comparative causal method with data analysis using a simple linear regression test. The subjects of this study were N = 30 4th semester psychology students. Data collection techniques using questionnaire techniques. Variable data on The Effect of Learning Motivation on Increasing Learning Achievement of Psychology Students in Semester 4 of Raden Fatah State Islamic University Palembang was obtained through a controlling scale, expressing learning motivation and increasing learning achievement with 20 statement items. The significant value in the data in the form of 0.000 means it is lower than the significant level of 0.05, which can be concluded that the learning motivation variable has an influence on the learning achievement improvement variable.

Interest and Learning Outcomes in Natural Science of Grade IV Students of Singajaya Elementary School

This research aims to evaluate the effect of the Learning Cycle 5E learning model on the interest and achievement of science learning of grade IV students at Singajaya Elementary School, Indramayu Regency. The research method used was experimental, with 20 students as participants. The research used an experimental method with steps: determining the problem, preparing instruments, determining samples, collecting, analyzing data, and preparing reports. The research results show that the Learning Cycle 5E learning model positively influences the increasing interest and learning achievement of fourth-grade students at Singajaya Elementary School, Krangkeng, Indramayu Regency. The analysis results with SPSS 26 showed an average N-Gain value of 0.61 for increased interest in learning and 0.47 for increased learning achievement. This research recommends applying the 5E Learning Cycle model to increase student interest and learning outcomes.

Efforts to Improve Critical Thinking Skills Through a Whole Language Approach in Elementary Schools

This research was conducted with the aim of describing: (1) learning in material conveying fairy tale content developed using a whole language approach for elementary school (SD) students (2) changes in elementary school students' attitudes after receiving material conveying fairy tale content using a whole language approach, and (3) elementary school students' learning achievement after receiving material to convey the contents of fairy tales using a whole language approach. This research includes case study research. The subjects of this research were second grade elementary school students. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and tests. Test the validity of the data in this research by triangulating data sources, triangulating methods, and informant reviews. The results of the research show (1) the application of the whole language approach in conveying fairy tale content is carried out through the enjoyment stage, appreciation stage, and understanding stage, (2) the attitude changes that occur include (a) increasing critical thinking skills, (b) understanding the correlation between images in words, c) activeness when watching videos and discussing, (d) embedding cooperation and respect between students, and (e) increasing speaking skills, (3) all students experienced an increase in learning achievement with a score of 77-95 through three domains, namely cognitive domain, affective domain, and psychomotor domain.
