Language barriers limit cross-cultural communication and collaboration in an increasingly interconnected world. Innovative multilingual chat apps use cutting-edge technologies to bridge language gaps and stimulate meaningful connections. This abstract describes a complicated multilingual chat application leveraging the MERN stack and AWS Translation services to revolutionize digital cross-cultural communication. Real-time translation in multilingual chat apps solves the problems. These algorithms recognize cross-linguistic interactions to provide inclusive digital environments where individuals of different languages can converse. Multilingual chat apps need MERN. React, Node.js, MongoDB, and Express.js provide a complete real-time communications platform. MongoDB scales, while Express.js and Node.js optimize server-side tasks. Multilingual interfaces are responsive to React’s declarative components. The final section addresses AWS Translation and multilingual chat app integration. Neural machine translation specialist AWS Translation delivers real-time translation across several languages. AWS Translation enables multilingual communication with precise, contextually relevant translations using powerful machine learning techniques. Finally, the abstract discusses how multilingual chat apps will change global communication. These apps foster cross-cultural understanding and worldwide cooperation. Crip translingualism

Abstract Forms of immobility both limit unqualified human agency and enable diverse channels of mobility. In this sense, mobility and immobility work together. Certain philosophical movements such as Southern theories and disability studies treat constraints, sedentariness, and boundaries as needing to be respected and accommodated in any inquiry. This article draws from these schools to theorize disruptions and constraints as resources in the circulation of languages, texts, and meanings. To index this generative role of constraints in communication, I adopt the term “crip” from theorizations in disability studies. “Crip” invokes the paradoxical reality that while being crippled poses disruptions in mobility, this rupture also generates new knowledge and possibilities into the flow of life (McRuer, 2006). This article explains how crip translingualism would treat ruptures, constraints, and boundaries as resourceful for meaning making. This is a corrective to certain previous theorizations that have treated translingualism as based on unrestricted flows and fluidities, influenced by dominant orientations to mobility. I illustrate from a classroom literacy interaction where the ruptures posed by the heritage languages of multilingual students motivated everyone to adopt creative strategies to expand the meaning of “meaning,” redefine literacy as negotiated, and develop ethical dispositions to collaborate in communicating across language boundaries. I argue that the incomprehensions and vulnerabilities created by language diversity actually motivate everyone to develop strategies to creatively read and write. In this manner, constraints don’t stifle the text or students, but mobilize new flows of meanings and interactions.

Culturally Responsive Teaching: Navigating Models and Implementing Effective Strategies

Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) stands as a beacon of equity and inclusivity within the realm of education, advocating for instructional practices that honor and affirm students' diverse cultural backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. It bridges the cultural divide between educators and students, recognizing that cultural identities significantly shape learning experiences and outcomes. The aim of this review is to thoroughly analyze CRT, delving into its diverse models, strategies, and practical implications. CRT emphasizes cultural competence among educators, the integration of culturally relevant content into the curriculum, and fostering positive teacher-student relationships. Models developed by scholars such as James A. Banks, Geneva Gay, and Gloria Ladson-Billings provide practical frameworks for CRT implementation, promoting culturally inclusive teaching methods and nurturing positive intercultural interactions. Implementing CRT involves creating inclusive curriculum, cultivating cultural competence among educators, and fostering positive teacher-student relationships. However, challenges such as implicit bias, structural barriers, and language diversity must be addressed to create supportive learning environments. Moving forward, enhancing teacher education programs, providing ongoing professional development, and advocating for policies that support equity and inclusion are essential steps to advance culturally responsive practices in education. Collaborative efforts among educators, researchers, policymakers, and community stakeholders are vital for promoting equity, fostering collaboration, and improving outcomes for all students in culturally diverse educational settings.

Pelatihan Penciptaan Lagu Anak-Anak Berbasis Kearifan Lokal bagi Guru Sekolah Dasar

Introducing songs to children can hone their sensitivity, literacy skills, and language diversity. Introducing children's songs through their creation based on local wisdom can also be a form of preservation of their culture. The PKM objective of this training program is for elementary school teachers in Sukadana, North Kayong, to have basic skills in making children's songs based on the identity and characteristics of the region. The training methods used are lectures, questions and answers, demonstrations, practices, simulations, and reflections. The results of the PKM children's song creation training program are that there are approximately 15 elementary school teachers who are enthusiastic about making children's songs with the rules and musical elements that have been taught. In addition, various themes of children's songs based on local wisdom have been explicitly and implicitly written in song lyrics for the 2–5 grade range.

Broadening Understanding of the World and Introducing Foreign Culture and Knowledge through Juvenile Literature

Language and culture are intertwined and cannot be isolated from one another while translating culture, particularly in the realm of literature, poses significant challenges. An effective foreign language curriculum ought to encompass cultural subjects. Educators working with children should adeptly infuse the cultural aspects of the language being taught into the educational materials. In the present era of technological advancements, people’s lifestyles, communication methods, and sources of information have all shifted towards electronic platforms. However, an excessive reliance on the digital environment for social interactions can have a detrimental impact on the development of young children. While it has become commonplace for modern children to embrace diverse foreign cultures, customs, languages, and traditions primarily through electronic means, this trend carries numerous adverse health consequences. Moreover, it hampers children’s ability to socialize, communicate openly and freely with others, and develop essential soft skills necessary to become well-rounded individuals. Furthermore, various health and psychological studies indicate that excessive exposure to technology impedes brain development, hindering a child’s capacity to think critically and imagine creatively. Since parents cannot constantly monitor their children’s online activities, youngsters may come across inappropriate content from various information sources and imitate them, leading to negative behavioral and psychological issues. However, the most effective way to liberate children from the clutches of technology, such as cell phones, computers, tablets, and televisions, is through the power of storybooks and literary works.

Design and Implementation of English to Yorùbá Verb Phrase Machine Translation System

The Yorùbá ethnic group has diverse language speakers across the world, and translating the language to other widely spoken languages must be emphasized. This study aims to develop an English to Yorùbá machine translation system which can translate the English verb phrase text to its Yorùbá equivalent. Words from both languages (Source Language and Target Language) were collected for the verb phrase group in the home domain. Lexical translation was done by assigning values of the matching word in the dictionary. The syntax of the two languages was realized using Context Free Grammar, the rewrite rules were validated with finite state automata. Human evaluation method was used and expert opinion scored. The evaluation shows the system performed better than that of sampled Google translation with over 70% of the responses matching that of the system’s output.

Religious intolerance cases in Indonesia still occur frequently. This happens due to the minimal awareness of the society. Additionally, it is also caused by the ideology and influence of Islamic fundamentalist groups. Therefore, the author utilizes the thoughts of Johann Gotlieb Fichte to shape societal awareness and highlight the errors of Islamic fundamentalists. The author employs a qualitative-descriptive method, elaborating research findings in descriptive form with sources from qualitative data. Consequently, data collection is conducted through literature review. The author presents five aspects from the research findings. Firstly, the awareness of individuals to use their reason in practicing religion. Secondly, everyone needs to ensure the religious freedom of others due to moral demands. Thirdly, there is a need for encouragement that upholds equality rights. Fourthly, individuals practicing religion need to prioritize morality to achieve common goals. Fifthly, there is a necessity for a language of diversity to be collectively embraced.

Analysis of language identification algorithms for regional Indonesian languages

Detecting local languages in Indonesia is essential for recognizing linguistic diversity, promoting intercultural understanding, preserving endangered languages, and improving access to education and services. By identifying and documenting these languages, we can support language preservation efforts, provide tailored resources for communities, and celebrate the unique cultural heritage of different ethnic groups. Ultimately, this encourages a more accepting and open-minded society, prioritizing various languages and cultural customs. This research aims to identify the most suitable algorithm for language detection in Indonesian regional languages and gain insights into their unique characteristics through n-gram analysis. By understanding language diversity, the study contributes to preserving Indonesia's cultural and linguistic heritage and improving language detection techniques. This study compares the performance of five algorithms (Naïve Bayes, K-nearest neighbors (KNN), least-squares, Kullback Leibler divergence, and Kolmogorov Smirnov test) to determine the most accurate and efficient method for language identification. Incorporating trigram features alongside unigrams and bigrams significantly improved the model's performance, with F1 scores increasing from 0.923 to 0.959. The study found that using more features leads to better accuracy, with Naïve Bayes and KNN emerging as the top-performing algorithms for language identification.

Language diversity across home and work contexts differentially impacts age- and menopause-related declines in cognitive control in healthy females.

Menopause is associated with declines in cognitive control. However, there is individual variability in the slope of this decline. Recent work suggests that indices of cognitive control are mediated by communicative demands of the language environment. However, little is known about how the impact of bilingual experience generalizes across the lifespan, particularly in females who exhibit steeper cognitive decline due to increasing age and menopausal transition. Thus, we investigated whether diversity of language use in distinct communicative contexts modulated the effects of aging and menopause on cognitive control in an adult lifespan sample of healthy females. We performed robust linear regressions on a sample of 120 females (age range 20-65 years) to characterize age- (n = 120) and menopause-related (n = 59) declines in cognitive control (as assessed by the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test) and to determine whether they are modulated by different facets of bilingual language experience, including the diversity of language use (i.e., language entropy) in home and workplace environments. Workplace but not home language diversity modulated age- and menopause-related declines in cognitive control, suggesting that females may compensate for decline by virtue of adapting to the externally imposed demands of the language environment. These findings have implications for identifying which aspects of bilingual experience may contribute to cognitive reserve in healthy aging. A Comparative Analysis of ChatGPT-4, ChatGPT-3.5, and Bard (Gemini Pro) in Sarcasm Detection

Understanding nuanced human communication like sarcasm is a significant challenge in the rapidly evolving domains of artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP). This study aims to comparatively analyze the sarcasm detection capabilities of three advanced AI models: ChatGPT-4, ChatGPT-3.5, and Bard (Gemini Pro). Utilizing the Sarcasm Corpus V2, focused on general sarcasm, the research involved testing 100 sentences (50 sarcastic and 50 non-sarcastic) with each model to assess their detection accuracy. The results indicated distinct performance variations among the models. ChatGPT-4 and Bard showed a relatively balanced ability in identifying both sarcastic and non-sarcastic sentences, whereas ChatGPT-3.5 exhibited a stronger accuracy in detecting non-sarcastic sentences but struggled with sarcastic ones. Statistical analysis confirmed that the differences in performance were significant (p < 0.05). These findings have critical implications for the development and application of AI in fields requiring nuanced language understanding, such as social media analysis, customer service, and sentiment analysis. The study highlights the varying strengths and weaknesses of current AI models in processing complex linguistic constructs like sarcasm and underscores the need for continued advancements in this area. Conclusively, this research provides valuable insights into the current state of sarcasm detection in AI, contributing to the broader understanding of AI's language processing capabilities. It also opens avenues for future research, particularly in enhancing AI algorithms for improved sarcasm detection across diverse contexts and languages

SENSE RELATION IN VOCABULARY ACQUISITION

Foreign language teachers must select vocabulary carefully to ensure that high quality items are included and provide varied opportunities for practice. Teachers should pay the most prudent attention in organization of lexis for the classroom as to offer as wide a range of practice ideas in order to facilitateeffective learning. Acquiring a large, coloured and nuanced vocabulary knowledge does not imply simply studying a list of words alongside with dictionary definitions. Language diversity implies great possibilities of lexical choice as means of enhancing the effectiveness and accuracy of speech. Modern foreign languages teaching methods should aim at building a broad, deep, rich and flexible vocabulary corpus of words. Grouping of words is based upon similarities and contrasts. Every language has in its lexicon a variety of words, kindred in meaning, but distinct in morphemic composition and usage, ensuring the expression of the most delicate and somehow hidden shades of human perception, thought, feeling and imagination. The use of synonyms and antonyms is a quick and effective way of explaining unknown words and teachers can resort to them as means of describing words’ meanings.

This qualitative study, conducted in Nyamagana District, Tanzania, aimed to comprehensively explore the impact of linguistic diversity on the learning process within secondary education. Employing interviews, classroom observations and a literature review, the study investigated the multifaceted nature of linguistic diversity, revealing communication barriers that hindered students’ comprehension and participation. Teachers employed diverse strategies, including bilingual instruction and visual aids, to address these challenges. Recommendations included the development of language support programs and investments in teacher development for the effective management of linguistic diversity, fostering equitable and inclusive learning environments. The study contributed crucial insights for stakeholders committed to creating culturally rich and inclusive educational settings in Nyamagana District's secondary schools.

Enhancing Arabic Dialect Detection on Social Media: A Hybrid Model with an Attention Mechanism

Recently, the widespread use of social media and easy access to the Internet have brought about a significant transformation in the type of textual data available on the Web. This change is particularly evident in Arabic language usage, as the growing number of users from diverse domains has led to a considerable influx of Arabic text in various dialects, each characterized by differences in morphology, syntax, vocabulary, and pronunciation. Consequently, researchers in language recognition and natural language processing have become increasingly interested in identifying Arabic dialects. Numerous methods have been proposed to recognize this informal data, owing to its crucial implications for several applications, such as sentiment analysis, topic modeling, text summarization, and machine translation. However, Arabic dialect identification is a significant challenge due to the vast diversity of the Arabic language in its dialects. This study introduces a novel hybrid machine and deep learning model, incorporating an attention mechanism for detecting and classifying Arabic dialects. Several experiments were conducted using a novel dataset that collected information from user-generated comments from Twitter of Arabic dialects, namely, Egyptian, Gulf, Jordanian, and Yemeni, to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed model. The dataset comprises 34,905 rows extracted from Twitter, representing an unbalanced data distribution. The data annotation was performed by native speakers proficient in each dialect. The results demonstrate that the proposed model outperforms the performance of long short-term memory, bidirectional long short-term memory, and logistic regression models in dialect classification using different word representations as follows: term frequency-inverse document frequency, Word2Vec, and global vector for word representation.

Sign Language Detection Using Action Recognition LSTM Deep Learning Model

Sign language serves as a vital communication medium for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) community, yet its recognition by computational systems remains a complex challenge. This research paper presents a novel approach to sign language detection utilizing action recognition principles through a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) deep learning model. Leveraging the temporal dynamics and sequential nature of sign language gestures, the LSTM model is trained to accurately identify and classify signs from video data. The proposed system processes video sequences to extract key frame features, which are then input into the LSTM network. The model's architecture is designed to capture the temporal dependencies and nuanced movements characteristic of sign language. We utilize a comprehensive dataset comprising diverse sign language gestures to train and evaluate the model. Our experimental results demonstrate that the LSTM-based approach achieves high accuracy in sign language detection, outperforming traditional static frame-based methods. The system's performance is evaluated through various metrics, including precision, recall, and F1-score, showcasing its robustness in real-world scenarios. Facilitating Culturally Competent Breast Imaging Care in South Asian Patients.

South Asians are a rapidly growing subset of the Asian population in the United States. They comprise people from multiple countries with diverse beliefs, languages, and cultural identities and values. The incidence of breast cancer is rising in South Asian women in the United States, with earlier onset and predilection for HER2-enriched tumors. Despite the rising incidence of breast cancer, participation in screening remains lower than other populations. Health care inequities in South Asian women are multifactorial and may be due to traditional health beliefs and practices, language barriers, cultural differences, and lack of overall awareness. Developing a culturally sensitive environment in breast imaging clinic practice can lead to improved patient care and adherence. Given the scarcity of data specific to the South Asian population in United States, there is a need for health service researchers and practice leaders to obtain more high-quality data to understand the needs of South Asian patient populations.

Memory strategies focused on english vocabulary learning: A case study in a public high school in Loja City

The research " Memory Strategies Focused on English Vocabulary Learning: A Case Study in a Public High School in Loja City" aimed to determine the effectiveness of memory strategies focused on English vocabulary learning among students of a public high school in Loja City. This study examined how various memory strategies promote vocabulary acquisition and retention, as well as opportunities for students’ practice in real contexts. It also investigated the adaptability of memory strategies to individual student needs and their efficacy for learners with diverse language proficiency levels or specific learning requirements. This study involved implementing four memory strategies, such as creating mental linkages, applying images and sound, reviewing well, and employing action, within the classroom setting over 12 weeks. Data collection methods included pre and post-assessments, student surveys, and classroom observations. Preliminary findings suggest that the use of specific memory strategies positively influences vocabulary retention and fosters a deeper understanding of language concepts. Finally, this research showed that memory strategies motivated vocabulary learning improvement and provided insights into improving language learning experiences for high school students.

Tracing the History: Language Education Policy and Emergent Bilingual Learners in the United States

Since the passage of the 1968 Bilingual Education Act, the meaning, function, and connotation of bilingual education in the United States have undergone significant changes. In this article, the author outlines the evolution of U.S. language education policies for emergent bilingual learners since the 19th century. In particular, the article demonstrates the major waves and shifts of language education policies that either support or oppress the linguistic rights of language minoritized students, and captures how the changing social, political, and economic climate has shaped the nation’s response to language diversity. Importantly, reviewing the historical evolution of language policies not only echoes the importance of policy decisions in impacting bilingual students’ educational trajectories, but also informs future policy decisions in order to disrupt deficit positioning of bilingual communities.

Examining the Linguistic Tapestry of Globalization: Structural Borrowings

Purpose: Redefining economies, cultures, language dynamics, and societies worldwide, globalization has become one of the hallmarks of the contemporary era. The impact of this phenomenon in language is examined in this article, with a particular emphasis on structural borrowings from English into Albanian. Theoretical Framework: Scientific criteria have been chosen to determine whether the linguistic data are internal constructions of the language or structural borrowings from English, and to examine the extent to which a global language like that has influenced the structure of 'small' languages like Albanian. Methodology: Thirty-three new constructions were chosen from Albanian textual media, which were then split into groups examined in detail according to their semantic and syntactic features. Findings: Fifty-five percent of native speakers accept semantic-syntactic borrowings from English, which exhibit synonymy and compete with existing normative constructions. Borrowings enhancing the semantics of Albanian are welcome, while those affecting syntactic structure and leading to ambiguity, meaninglessness, and ungrammaticality are not. Research Practical and Social Implication: The knowledge of how syntactic-semantic systems can be modified and impacted by interaction with other language systems is increased by this work. Simultaneously, it advances our understanding of the social dimensions of language use, including language planning and identity maintenance in the area of globalization. Originality/Value: The connections between ‘small’ languages like Albanian and world culture have not received adequate consideration. This study advances our understanding of how globalization impacts communication between speakers of diverse languages and cultural backgrounds by shedding light on the process of structural borrowings.
